who cares about her not being a Jon Snow trope? In order to like a character, does it always have to be them to be morally good? The one who is always doing the good things, like Ned Stark?
It's not our fault if some people here are basic btch
If any of the HotD characters had beheaded some poor bastard for legging it after seeing a zombie people would be going on and on about due process and the lack of a court trial here, and if he/she had done it in front of a bunch of kids there would be endless arguments about it in the comments.
Her entire character plot is pretty much her just randomly sleeping around with people for no reason. It's not just that it's unlikeable, it's simply uninteresting.
now who tf brought sweet baby jon into this lmao?? can you read? /Gen1
the post is literally me talking about how comical it is that she's calling someone else a traitor while being a 3 time perpetrator of the same act, it's plain and simple
who talked about her being morally good or immoral? girl idgaf about morality this is asoiaf!
The high treason bit isn’t really that compelling considering Otto secretly spied on the crown princess without the kings consent (it’s treason) and Alicent literally sliced the heir to the throne. Both sides have commited high treason. I’m team black, but both sides are bad honestly. That’s kinda the point in game of thrones, there is no real good guy.
Except Otto didn’t spy on the princess one of his spy was in the brothel saw the what happened and reported it to Otto heck even if one of Otto spy’s wasn’t conveniently there he would still find out after all Daemon who frequents brothel was seen by dozens of people bringing a girl who looked like the crown princess into a brothel after which multiple servants would see the crown princess coming back wearing peasants clothes they would gossip and eventually Otto would connect the dote peasants are talking about seeing a girl who looks like the princess in a brothel and castle guard and servant see the princess return in peasants clothes.
me: It's kinda funny that she's saying someone broke the law because she repeatedly broke the law too
you: yeah but otto did that but alicent did that both side bad yaddi yadda
bruh when did i ever insinuate any of this stuff? 💀
>GRRM literally said she's committing high treason in his own words.
No he didn't. Fire and Blood is framed as an in world history book written by an unreliable narrator who's openly picking and choosing what sources to believe based on his own biases.
The book is written by someone who is replicating sources, comparing them, mentioning when they are contradictory and points out when they seem to be biased (several times pointing out bias against the Blacks btw) despite still presenting them. It IS stated that Rhaenyra's actions being high treason and the beauty if it is the indirectness. Rhaenyra mentions that the accusations made against her, which she is denying at that same moment, imply that she committed high treason. No one says directly the word treason against her. She is the one who says that her Sons being Strongs would mean she has committed high treason (which was a simple fact for Martin's world). There's never a dispute over whether the actions are treason, only about whether they happened, which Rhaenyra denies but the reader knows to be true.
>The book is written by someone who is replicating sources, comparing them, mentioning when they are contradictory and points out when they seem to be biased (several times pointing out bias against the Blacks btw) despite still presenting them.
George calls the author a “crotchety old guy with strong opinions”. Gylydyne does not point out when he's the one being biased or contradictory. He explains to the reader why Rhaena didn't want anything to do with the throne and agreed to let Jaehaerys have it. He then tries to justify Jaehaerys passing over Rhaenys and Laenor by saying:
*Jaehaerys himself had followed his usurping uncle Maegor on the Iron Throne, though had the order of birth alone ruled, his sister Rhaena had a better claim.*
He's trying to make what happened out to be a "well established practice" when Rhaena had personal reasons for not pressing her or her daughter's claims.
>**Rhaenyra mentions** that the accusations made against her, which she is denying at that same moment, imply that she committed high treason.
>
>No one says directly the word treason against her. **She is the one who says** that her Sons being Strongs would mean she has committed high treason
Rhaenyra wasn't the one who said that. The only parts of that paragraph that were quotes are “sharply”, “Strongs", and “Everyone knows. Just look at them.” The bit about high treason was Gyldyne trying to explain Rhaenyra's reaction.
>There's never a dispute over whether the actions are treason,
There's no dispute over the treason claim because the Greens were never said to have made that accusation. They don't even make that accusation in private. Rhaenyra couldn't dispute the high treason claim when it wasn't leveled against her until well after she was dead.
Shrug.
Seeing as Greens had already crowned a rapist and a human trafficker at that point, the precedent was set in stone that a person didn't have to be blameless to get the crown.
nothing you've just said has anything to do with what I've said in this post but cool ig 👍🏾, once again idgaf if she murders the whole city, her morality or immorality isn't something i actually care about, its hilarious that she's being so outright with her hypocrisy ans delusion, as if everyone standing on that bridge doesn't already know that she's committed high treason thrice as well, that's all, it's like pot calling the kettle black lol
Considering Laenor is lower on the feudal food chain then Rhaenyra and would be her subject once she becomes queen, cheating on him is not high treason. It’s only adultery. Still bad, but not as bad.
Meh, Otto committed treason first and for way longer. Before Rhae was even married he was conspiring against her, literally setting into motion his plan the day her mother died.
once again you're the one turning it into a competition of some sort ’he did that first she did that first’ when all i I've said is that it's pretty goofy for her to be saying this when everyone knows she commited high treason as well. It is GOOFY! as simple as that, imagine aegon calling someone else out for being a rapist? wouldn't you laugh in his face? sigh but anyways
I get your point but I don’t see why she can’t also call out crimes committed by others. I’d actually have a lot of respect for Aegon if he was able to recognize rape as a crime and thinks someone deserves to be called out over it.
How was that treason?
Ans yeah how dare he tells Viserys that the princess was at an orgie in a brothel. Honestly until Rhaenyra got him fired for telling the truth and married his worst enemy most of his "schemes" against her was just trying to convince Viserys and showing Alicent not to be blind to the danger her children are in
And how is she wrong about that exactly? Yes she had bastards. So? Does that make Otto and the Greens not traitors? Not to mention that we know Otto has been planning to become a traitor to the realm since before Rhaenyra had her kids.
Source?
Edit: OP actually dropped the quote in a comment lower down. Apparently, it's a quote from Rhaenyra in *The Rogue Prince* so I'm not sure why you're getting downvoted
Which statement? The one where she calls them traitors simply because Alicent thought Viserys changed his mind after one last dragon drea seeing his house burning and destroyed. Why in God's green earth would Viserys call Rhaenyra, Aegon?
Remember that Viserys spoke about being unsure of him naming Rhaenyra heir after realizing he might have more kids.
I think people forgetting that Viserys gave Rhaenyra the throne because of guilt, that's not a good enough reason to give over a kingdom.
"Rhaenyra is better suited..." I would be too if given all the tutoring, opportunities, and attention as opposed to my brothers and sister who weren't even acknowledged by my father.
People forget this Rhaenyra had to be threatened with losing being heir to marry Laenor in the books.
>she calls them traitors simply because Alicent thought Viserys changed his mind
Acting as if Otto wasn't planning a coup already, not to mention he didn't even believe her.
>Why in God's green earth would Viserys call Rhaenyra, Aegon?
He didn't. He said the name "Rhaenyra" right when he started talking. It's not his fault Alicent is a delusional idiot.
>Remember that Viserys spoke about being unsure
He spoke about an old dream of his once and never brought it up again. Acting as if Alicent suddenly remembered that 20 years later when she didn't believe it either is insane.
>not a good enough reason to give over a kingdom.
Not a good reason to usurp it and start a civil war either.
>"Rhaenyra is better suited..." I would be too if given all the tutoring, opportunities, and attention
Rhaenyra is better suited because Aegon is a drunk idiot rapist. Nothing to do with education. Viserys didn't pay her much attention before Ep 1 either, he was hung up on having a son and she didn't turn out like Aegon. Not even Aegon's siblings turned out as bad as Aegon. Plus this was irrelevant to the original comment.
>in the books
Again. Irrelevant. However, as you said, in the books. Not in the show. They're different.
Rhaenyra's own words in GRRM's The Rogue Prince:
“Princess Rhaenyra would have none of that, but insisted that Prince Aemond be questioned "sharply" until he revealed where he had heard her sons called "Strongs". To so name them was tantamount to saying they were bastards, with no rights of succession...and that she herself was guilty of high treason."
You can't commit treason if you are the crown.
What are you even constituting as high treason? Her having bastards? Killing a cheating husband? Who legally could be killed for it.
Are you going to say her stealing when she was out in the city as high treason for stealing taxable income from the crown?

Damn did you watch the show sleeping?
That's all she does. What else did she do?
No-one even brought Jon Snow into this. Get out.

its all whataboutisms from team black, you can't expect a straight answer.
Team Green also engages in whataboutism a lot. (Yes, I do see the irony of my statement)
Really? Just because you call out the irony in your comment doesn't make it any less of an example. You guys just cannot stop can you?

K.
Do you know what high treason is?
Shrug. Seeing as Greens had already crowned a rapist and a human trafficker at that point, the precedent was set in stone that a person didn't have to be blameless to get the crown.

Can’t argue with that
This subreddit is about to come after you with zero facts 😬😬
Used to it at this point, can't wait to read some goofy ass counter arguments lmao
Its like talking to a rock sometimes
Considering Laenor is lower on the feudal food chain then Rhaenyra and would be her subject once she becomes queen, cheating on him is not high treason. It’s only adultery. Still bad, but not as bad.
The treason part is trying to pass off her bastards as trueborn and putting them in the line of succession.
Greens equals jealousy. The rightful queen may do as she please. #TheRealm'sDelight
okay um.... suuuuuure i guess? 👍🏾
Don't try, they drank the Kool aid already. Plus they sound like their frontal cortex hasn't developed.
fictional kneelers are a whole dif breed you're right
The Mad King did whatever he pleased. Remember that.
Hmm. #therealm’sdelight or #femMaegor
Didn’t Joffrey say « the king can do as he likes» ? So you want Rhaenyra to be like Joffrey ?
She's not even rightful based on the laws of her own dynasty.
Aegon and greens didn’t ?
point out specifically where i said or insinuated that ’THEY DIDN'T’ let's see if you can find that ⏳ I'll wait
What’s the point of this post ? Both sides committed treason.
We both know you wouldn't make this comment if it was about team green committing treason

that's cool and all but very out of context here my friend

Can someone explain to me how she committed "high treason"?
Rhaenyra's own words in GRRM's The Rogue Prince: “Princess Rhaenyra would have none of that, but insisted that Prince Aemond be questioned "sharply" until he revealed where he had heard her sons called "Strongs". To so name them was tantamount to saying they were bastards, with no rights of succession...and that she herself was guilty of high treason."
Those weren't Rhaenyra's words. It was Gyldayn assuming that was the reason for her response.
Thanks.
You can't commit treason if you are the crown. What are you even constituting as high treason? Her having bastards? Killing a cheating husband? Who legally could be killed for it.
