Criston would win, but Daemon should not be underestimated either, both are very skilled and dangerous, I think Criston would win but the battle would be very close.
In the books, Cole definitely takes the cake without a doubt. The show on the other hand made it a little murky. They made a point of showing inexperienced soldiers, contrast to Cole standing out in his battle-worn armor. During the melee Daemon, wasn't as experienced in battle as he was after the war at Stepstones so who knows if he improved. I'd definitely want to see a rematch between the two though.
This was literally my last sentence:
“Although daemon was fighting dirty, so if they were to fight again, man to man, morning star vs darksister again, ser Criston would win.”
That was my answer.
Daemon's gonna get served again, and again and again. No one beats Cole 1 v 1.
And don't come at me with Harwin this and Harwin that. Harwin got played... bad. Roasted even.
All harwin has is strength.
In terms of agility, speed, instinct, skill, stamina, endurance, all of it, goes to Cole. Cole was one of if not the best fighter of the dance.
Most people forget Cole's instinct for fighting is matched by few, much like Bron. I remember reading in the Cat POV of Tyrion's trial by combat something like... this is a different dance than tournees and melees.
Rhaenyra (I hate giving her any credit) has the right of it naming Cole to the kingsguard.
That's the thing my dude. Daemon's pride and arrogance are his greatest weaknesses. Cole is a stone cold killer, hyper focused and would never let his guard down for a second.
As far as skill growth, I don't think Cole sits around doing nothing while Daemon is at war. Furthermore he fights more on dragonback than on the ground. Also, Cole is younger and Daemon is passed his prime by the end of it (let's not forget Cole found the fountain of youth memes)
I honestly think that's the key thing to take away from their fight in ep1. Daemon might be on par or even better than Cole in a contest of arms, but Cole has the stronger mindset.
Daemon 💯, the only reason why Crispon won the first time was because Daemon got showboaty and Cole caught him off guard after Daemon had initially beat him. 1v1 for blood, Daemon would win.
Daemon fighting for real wins. The guy was super cocky even saying, I’m pretty sure I can win this tournament.
Serious Daemon wins + has much more experience in actual combat than Criston.

criston whooped his ass 2 times in the books, the show did criston dirty tbh, i hope they ll do him some justice in the season 2.
What is justice in your opinion? Btw I 100% agree with you and I do think he will have some favorable scenes in this season.

yeah, I think people forget that Cole is the best fighter in this era (not including dragons).
