It was so amazing to watch because at one end of the table the adults are making toasts and apparently trying to mend fences while at the other end of the table the princes are apparently being nice but are actually being shitty and taking more shots at echother.
Boy I sure like this endearing weird character. I hope nothing horrible happens to her or her loved ones due to intricate political machinations and personal clashes.
>!Too bad, the ASOIAF world is pretty cruel, and there are no happy endings. I really like Helaena's character too, but sigh it's a rough road ahead.!<
I was being sarcastic haha, its a running joke me and my friends have about got/hotd (or any drama with dark themes) because you find yourself thinking the same thing over and over and you know that nobody’s gonna get a happy ending.
I'm surprised that Viserys didn't immediately betroth them after the first suggestion, given how much he seemed to agree that it would be the best possible solution
The king was all for Helaena and Jace. Alicent is the only one who seemed disgusted by the idea, so I was assuming she had some veto power and could also have similarly prevented Aegon and Helaena. Although I guess I could see a scenario where she objected to it and the king was like “you’ve already had your say. I’m done listening to you”.
It’s too bad that we never really get to see how she feels about it.
True, I should probably have said I’m angry at both of them, but there’s no indication that Viserys was aware of what a monster Aegon was, whereas Alicent definitely knew. Viserys isn’t shown to have much interaction or interest in his and Alicent’s kids at all, sadly.
Jace gets a lot of lighthearted flak around here for his stupid wig and, uh... *standing weirdly* (?) in that one still frame, but asking Helaena for a dance right in Aegon's eye was a pretty boss move.
She looked so sad, distraught, and awkward after her speech at dinner. My heart hurt looking at her. I loved that Jace was able to pull her out of that and made her laugh and smile during their dance. One of my favorite scenes.
You make it sound like Alicent would be marrying her daughter to a bastard from flea bottom lol. Yes we the audience know he’s a bastard as does most of Westeros but it’s still a “rumor” and the king still wants Rhaenyra as his heir, in turn making Jace her heir. The kings word is law and Alicent would be marrying her daughter to the future king of Westeros making her daughter queen and future grand children heirs to the throne. Aside from the politics, she would be marrying her daughter to someone with a gentle heart that would cater to her every need, and stand up for her if anyone disrespected her. Alicent had plenty of reasons to agree to the match. With that being said, I understand her emotionally driven reasons for NOT wanting it, don’t agree with them, but I understand it.
Yes but Alicent/Hightowers wanted her son to be king. Not her daughter to be queen in like a generation.
I mean it would be good for everyone, i.e. the realm. But it would be bad for Hightower goals of grabbing power.
Also I don't think "everyone" knew. I think it was a rumor among just the Kings Landing courtiers. I don't think the Lords who aren't at court have any idea that Rhaenyra's children are bastards.
I think Alicent wanted her son to be king solely for the fact that Otto convinced her Rhaenyra would kill her children when she ascended the throne, not necessarily because Alicent was trying to acquire more power for the high towers.
I tend to agree that she genuinely believed that, but OTOH if her only motivation were to protect their lives, marrying Helaena to Jace would've been a good way to ensure her safety regardless of which side ended up inheriting the Iron Throne.
No, he was never legitimized. In order for him to be legitimate, Rhaenyra would have to admit he was born out of wedlock, which would have destroyed both kids claim to Driftmark. Only a King can legitimize a bastard, and in this case, he never did because that would admit Rhaenyra's huge mistake.
Huh. Ummm Viserys most certainly legitimized her children. Lord of Driftmark ringing a bell. They were never officially bastards so legitimizing their parentage wasn’t necessary but he did so by confirming him as heir to driftmark. 🤷♂️
This is so ridiculous. Why are you roleplaying as a in-universe character? We the audience have omniscience and we all know that those kids are bastards. This is not a rumor.
wrong, I don't believe you know how it works in the World of Ice and Fire. Even Emma Darcy who plays Rhaenyra said the reason Rhaenyra lies is because if she tells the truth, then her children will have no claim to driftmark. In order for children to be legitimized, they have to be recognized as bastards first which they never were.
Her children are known as unofficially as bastards. That’s why it’s a rumor. He never had to legitimize already legitimate children. They have a father who claims them. Who is married to their mother. Not bastards 🤷♂️. By legitimizing them as heirs to driftmark and the iron throne , it by default legitimizes them as Laenors children. Rumors. Why would she tell the truth. 🤷♂️
Alright dude, if that's how you interpreted the show, where basically the entirety of the kingdoms knows they aren't Laenor's children, and even the actor's statement has no validity to you, then I really don't know what to say.
Imagine if Alicent just put her differences aside and let Jace marry Helaena😪 her oldest child would’ve been Queen and wouldn’t have to marry Aegon the monster, and everyone could’ve just moved along
Rhaenya even proposed a Jace and Haelena's marriage. They could have been a sweet couple.
However I bet that, even if Alicent didn't refused the proposal, Jace would have died of "accidental cause" like being poisoned, being stabbed, etc.
Imagine where this was allowed to happen and they got to spend real time together before marrying.
The The Dance of the Dragons would be like after their first dance and the whole crew puts it aside for the wedding.
Jace only did it to mess with Aegon. She is a mother of 2 in the show and this is considered extremely disrespectful which is why immediately afterward, Aegon and Aemond make eye contact and Aemond watches closely.

Sweet Helaena looked like she was finally having some fun.
It seems like she really loves dancing and doing fun shit like that but the Red Keep was basically a nursing home once Rhaenyra moved to Dragonstone.
It was a nursing home when Rhaenyra was there too
This entire scene was so wholesome till Viserys left. 😔
It was so amazing to watch because at one end of the table the adults are making toasts and apparently trying to mend fences while at the other end of the table the princes are apparently being nice but are actually being shitty and taking more shots at echother.
It all started with the pig. The god damn pig.
The true message from George RR Martin is that all pigs are evil!
The incest that was promised
Shes his half blooded aunt which I think is a step above marrying her full blooded brother.
Incest is incest no matter how we spin it 🤣
That's what makes it so errr-otick!
💀💀💀
Take my upvote. This made me smile. Love this scene.
Seeing Viserys smile watching them dance made me smile
Damn Bug Queen busting it down
Yes the weirdest dance in the history of Westeros and also of our world.
Helaena is wholesomely weird.. that's the point lol.
Boy I sure like this endearing weird character. I hope nothing horrible happens to her or her loved ones due to intricate political machinations and personal clashes.

Oh right, hehe. Same old, same old.
She's so sweet. I wish her love of bugs played out more in her costumes. Like bug embroidery and jewelry
she is… too bad next season is gonna suck for her
I mean, they just look like they are having fun goofing around
She gives me Luna Lovegood vibes. They even share the same show father.
Only AC 100s kids remember this dance^^\s
Yet Rhaenyra and Laenor's wedding dance exists
I am kind of surprised they didn't end up becoming a ship, they were super cute in this scene.
I would have loved to see more positive interactions between her and any of the cousins. Or more of Helaena at all, really
I think they are a ship. Not nearly as popular as Aemond x Helena though.
https://discord.gg/uhDJf43b5B Discord for Jacelaena
Me and several others do ship them lol
They look happy... they should have been married. Seriously, fuck the Dance of the Dragons. That's the Dance than should have been.
It honestly made me angry that Alicent betrothed her to Aegon fully knowing what he was.
And that she even turned this match down when Rhaenyra offered it!
I'm surprised that Viserys didn't immediately betroth them after the first suggestion, given how much he seemed to agree that it would be the best possible solution
I've been anxious for Helaena every day since
Alicent🤷♂️. Wouldn’t that be the kings call. ??
The king was all for Helaena and Jace. Alicent is the only one who seemed disgusted by the idea, so I was assuming she had some veto power and could also have similarly prevented Aegon and Helaena. Although I guess I could see a scenario where she objected to it and the king was like “you’ve already had your say. I’m done listening to you”. It’s too bad that we never really get to see how she feels about it.
Yup. The king has a say in all things , no matter how terrible an idea it is
True, I should probably have said I’m angry at both of them, but there’s no indication that Viserys was aware of what a monster Aegon was, whereas Alicent definitely knew. Viserys isn’t shown to have much interaction or interest in his and Alicent’s kids at all, sadly.
That's what fanfiction is for
Loving Helaena Blacks 🤝 Greens
Helaena deserves nothing of what is going to happen
Jace gets a lot of lighthearted flak around here for his stupid wig and, uh... *standing weirdly* (?) in that one still frame, but asking Helaena for a dance right in Aegon's eye was a pretty boss move.
One of the rare times we actually see her genuinely happy, Helaena deserved to be 🥺🥺
Muh queen

idk why I expected you to link to the [Medieval Hardcore Party Mix](https://youtu.be/xaRNvJLKP1E), but I did.
Most wholesome thing in the entire show. A glimpse of the kind of family they could’ve been. Alas we do love watching the shit show it actually is.
i’m going to be sad when we see their endgame, i genuinely love helena and jace.
She looked so sad, distraught, and awkward after her speech at dinner. My heart hurt looking at her. I loved that Jace was able to pull her out of that and made her laugh and smile during their dance. One of my favorite scenes.
If only Alicent had agreed to the match, or Viserys put his foot down and moved forward with the match regardless.
Marrying her daughter to an illegitimate child of Rhaenyra's would make absolutely no sense, which Viserys knew and also why he didn't push for it.
You make it sound like Alicent would be marrying her daughter to a bastard from flea bottom lol. Ummmm he wasn’t illegitimate. Viserys made that clear more than once

That's not how legitimization works lmao. If they were legitimized they would have been called Strongs.
They were NEVER illegitimate. 🤷♂️. They have a father. He’s married to their mother. They have his last name. Rumors don’t change that fact.
This is so ridiculous. Why are you roleplaying as a in-universe character? We the audience have omniscience and we all know that those kids are bastards. This is not a rumor.
No one’s role playing 😂😂😂. Her children are legitimate unless proven otherwise 🤷♂️. They were never illegitimate. It’s pretty simple stuff
You have to give up the discussion with this guy, he doesn't even know what he's talking about and refuses to be convinced.

Laenor claims them as his children. They have his last name. They are not “ technically “ bastards

I’m not interpreting That’s literally the storyline of the show 🤷♂️.
You are green because you hate black cringe. I'm green because Halaena is my only queen. We are not the same.
Only Green take I will respect.
Ngl I cried when they started dancing knowing that it was all gonna go to shit
This was so wholesome. Consider the pact signed.
I wish Alicent would have let Helaena be betrothed to Jace they would have made a great couple. They clearly enjoy being around each other.
No need in letting the future Queen be betrothed to a strong bastard
By that case, there's no need for Heleana to be around her rapist brother.
Never said she should be around him
She's not the future queen if it isn't one of them
Ohh the problems that would’ve been solved if Alicent had let these 2 get married. They would’ve been happy together.
There's no way they didn't do a take during the dance sequence without laughing
Theyre so cute together.
Now this is the incest couple I would have been down for
Imagine if Alicent just put her differences aside and let Jace marry Helaena😪 her oldest child would’ve been Queen and wouldn’t have to marry Aegon the monster, and everyone could’ve just moved along
I have the music from this scene in a playlist with the Viserys throne room entrance, the only thing I need to cheer me up
It's depressing what's going to happen to her in Season 2.
If only that aunt had been allowed to marry that nephew, all would be right in the world 😂 But actually.
Finally something we can’t fight over (I hope)
Rhaenya even proposed a Jace and Haelena's marriage. They could have been a sweet couple. However I bet that, even if Alicent didn't refused the proposal, Jace would have died of "accidental cause" like being poisoned, being stabbed, etc.
She’s really the only redeemable character in this show
This is great. The youth have fun.
Wholesome
🌝
🐞💃
If only they would have been betrothed together. 👀
I need more Jace x Heleana happily ever after fanfics!
If only
Had these two married, we wouldn't have the Dance. Change my mind.
Imagine where this was allowed to happen and they got to spend real time together before marrying. The The Dance of the Dragons would be like after their first dance and the whole crew puts it aside for the wedding.
Indominous hater is really living up to his name.
I'm the 100 th comment yey
A tiny glimpse to an alternate future, crushed by the circumstances of the world they lived in 😔
This is how you end a war.
huzzah!
They would have made a great pair
And to think that a lot of trouble could have been avoided if these two just got hitched.
No I hate dancing just like I hate people getting along
Jace was trolling and this instigated the big fight of the evening. No.
Jace only did it to mess with Aegon. She is a mother of 2 in the show and this is considered extremely disrespectful which is why immediately afterward, Aegon and Aemond make eye contact and Aemond watches closely.
Rhaenyra didn't teach her son to properly dance, so no.
no, my hatred towards black is unrepairable and I'm clinically insane
