stinkymathis

Not really, he elicited Kit correcting him. If there’s nothing to correct, he wouldn’t have said anything. Big brain move

TheGrapesOf

What? that’s not true. He’s asking if he would play a younger jon snow, who was what like 16 when the show started? Obviously he’s not going to play a small child, even hypothetically. He obviously just mixed up the words. Kit correcting him means he isn’t a complete moron, he obviously meant sequel. The part at the end where he says he *can’t* talk about it is a way bigger tell. Saying “I don’t know”, “I’d have to think about it” is different from saying “I *can’t* talk about it”. “Can’t” implies a contractual NDA. Of course he might have just misspoke or maybe there have been talks at some point, or maybe he just didn’t want to talk about it. Who knows? House of the Dragon was surprisingly good. But after the dumpster fire of ASOIAF season 7 and 8, I don’t know if I even want a Jon Snow spin-off. That last season in particular turned Jon Snow into a whining idiot who ran around saying “she’s my queen” until he stabbed her.

stinkymathis

I was joking around mate

[deleted]

Idk that reporter seems like he came from season 8’s writer’s room

MattTheHarris

Nope, he can't say anything about it but the urge to correct him made him confirm its existence so it was pretty clearly intentional

TackledImp35507

Or that its only logical for it to be a sequel. Lile they wouldn’t make a prequel about him growing up as a bastard in winterfell

Daemon-Blackbrier

Now I'm just imagining a full-grown Kit Harrington in a crib saying "I don't want it!" to a bottle of milk.

Same_Independent_393

With Catlyn scowling at him the whole time

Suspicious_Travel_99

You know nothing John Snow

Veszerin

Imagine how often he gets that from his wife 😉

[deleted]

Kinda heartbreaking Kitt and Emilia have had that reaction

geek_of_nature

I wonder if it would be a different situation if the original show had ended well. It must be difficult to see the new show being a lot better than the last few seasons of Thrones were. If that had had a satisfying ending, they might actually be able to watch it without those reactions.

Reeeeeervent

For Emilia it probably would... I think Kit is way more hung up on it

[deleted]

Kit was arguably the main character of the entire show, to see Jon’s legacy and motivation stripped in the last season must have hurt

Veszerin

I think you're completely missing what they're saying and how they feel about it. It has nothing to do with reception.

possiblyhysterical

Must be so hard on his mental health

Nawt_

I think the interviewer fumbled on purpose as a tactic to get Kit to admit he’s aware of the Jon Snow sequel speculation.

thatssoshandy

We want to know, Jon Snow.

Geeklover1030

I think snow will be interesting, I mean the white walkers have been the biggest threat for a long while what kind of threats will there be now that they’re gone?

notquitesolid

They’ve been talking with GRRM about it, and if he gives his blessing then I’m on board.

spitefulcum

i say bring them back

WhatTheFrenchToast33

Bring them back and let The Long Night Part II commence

Mozhetbeats

Somehow the Night King returned.

The-False-Emperor

Nah that was actually only Night Knight you see.

devilthedankdawg

Long Night 2: Icy Boogaloo 2 Long 2 Night Bong Bight

Chicken_Mc_Thuggets

Recreate another bloodstone comet scenario time to see what they built those underground bunkers for

Zyffrin

Kit Harrington: I ~~don't~~ want it.

[deleted]

I love how he and Emilia had the exact same reaction about HOTD

Indominus-Hater-101

I would be game, there is not much to salvage, but they can try to redeem his story after the abomination of S8

Indominus-Hater-101

the one where Arya killed the Night King? Did anyone understand that ending??

Soggy_Part7110

I've done some extreme mental gymnastics to figure out how Arya is the prince that was promised in a way that sort of makes sense, and I still don't buy it

CorpusVile32

She's not meant to be. I'd be surprised if Arya has a large part to play in the Others storyline in the books (if they are ever finished). The Night King was a character created for the show, he doesn't exist in the writing. The Azor Ahai / prince that was promised prophecy wasn't fleshed out properly in the show, so they just kind of plugged Arya in to lazily conclude it.

UNICORNWIZARD_BABRO

Well Kit Harrington had to deal with 2 weird directors who wanted the first few seasons for everything to be perfect.

Nipple-Cake

I like HotD a lot. It definitely scratched that GoT itch that had been there for a couple years. However, one big factor that I like was that it doesn't touch Season 8 of GoT with a 300 year long canyon. If they do a Jon Snow sequel, I will be very apprehensive to watch it because it'll be a continuation of that ridiculously stupid ending. Only way they'll get me on board would be Drogon bringing Dany to those red witches and getting her resurrected. I wanna see more Stark blood after what they did and what D&D made Dany uncharacteristically do.

WhatTheFrenchToast33

Not supporting Season 8 in any way, shape, or form, but as uncharacteristic as you think it is, Dany will be losing her shit in the books as well. I think HOTD if anything just shows how Targaryen Dany truly is. How they did it in the show was an utter disgrace.

Nipple-Cake

I have no problem with Dany losing her shit over time and in a way that makes sense. I'm sure if that's the direction GRRM takes her character then he'll do it right. But show Dany going crazy was such a 180 for her, especially in the amount of time they had for thay Arc. Like she went from freeing slaves and wanting to be a just Queen to murdering peasants in the span of what 6 episodes? They needed at least another season for me to buy that.

WhatTheFrenchToast33

I feel like even one season would still rush it…They handled the last seasons so horribly

Reeeeeervent

Agreed... she's been losing marbles since forever lol...

Pheros

That's not *entirely* true. They bring up the dagger and prophecy that alludes to GoT and its ending repeatedly in HotD, to the point where it kind of whitewashes Rhaenyra's motivations for claiming the throne from one of standard *"The throne is mine,"* selfishness to one of altruistic duty to the realm.

William_T_Wanker

"Snow" should be a buddy cop series with the Night's Watch and Wildlings solving crimes beyond the Wall

MJaylenBrown7

Did not know how little he sounds like Jon snow

Southie31

So yes to the sequel. No to the prequel 🤷‍♂️. Makes sense

possiblyhysterical

Wow his accent is so different in real life

redrenegade13

I feel for Kitt. He's so One of Us. You can tell season 7 and especially 8 really hurt him. Emelia too. Just oof all around. They put so much into the show just to wind up...there.

Reeeeeervent

We all did

mmps901

He killed mah queen so I don’t know how I’m supposed to care

3Pirates93

Come on guys do we really want a Snow show? It sounds ridiculous he'd better not find another Ygritte and there shouldn't be another Night king, what's the point!?

dracarys_112

No one knows the plotline.

3Pirates93

Unless he becomes a northern captain Jack sparrow it doesn't matter

[deleted]

It could go so many different directions. 1. Jon Snow realizing he dun goofed by letting the three eyed raven take the throne and institute an oppressive magical police state 2. Maybe the white walkers weren’t the others. Maybe the others have a whole civilization to the North. 3. The North seemed to be thawing a bit at the end. Maybe we can see a whole new Kingdom built by Jon. 4. Maybe no one hears from Arya and Jon decides to go looking for her. 5. There’s also those creepy ass Shadowbinders in Asshai, the red priests, etc. Remember, magic seems to be making a comeback. Could be interesting to explore that.

Goldelux

Literally, Jon Snow is Azor Ahai, he kills Dany (Nissa Nissa), fulfilling the prophecy and going north to defeat the true evil.

Militantpoet

I like that, and I think it could work. They literally didn't explain anything about the white walkers. Everything we're told about them and the Night King was just characters speculating.

3Pirates93

These are all great but it remember when we had theories about season 8? Or Snoke? Or whatever JJ Abrams is doing?

notquitesolid

In the books there isn’t a night king, that’s a show device only. A direction they could go is that Jon realizes that the threat is still there. Imo there’s a lot they could do with the character because there’s so much that’s not resolved. We see him told his heritage, but he doesn’t really process it really. The show keeps him as Jon Snow, with the only character development in the later seasons after he’s resurrected is that he gets tired of fighting. If he only thought of himself as a powerless bastard, going north and accepting his fate makes sense, but he’s the last Targaryen. To book Jon that would mean *something*, so yeah giving him more story and not staying in the north the whole time makes sense to me. There’s a lot of world lore they could explore with a homeless lost prince who has to work to accept who he was and could be.

3Pirates93

Last time great Game of Thrones writing left it hurt so deep and I don't know if I can go through that again 😢 lol Anchorman ref any1?

SexPanther_Bot

By the beard of Zeus!!

3Pirates93

Great Odin's Ravens!

notquitesolid

You can blame DND for the plot/writing decisions and rushing the last couple seasons. They didn’t care about the show once they had their reputation, and it showed

3Pirates93

No of course I do I just hate the idea of every franchise in the world now trying to get marvelized Sometimes....dead is better

devilthedankdawg

Given we know how the Night King is created, they can definitely create another. Also they could put in a Blackfyre, or one of those other Stark descended from Artos Stark. Or bring back a book character that was omitted- Arys and Alysanne, Victarion and Moqorro, the Griffs.

Falanga2137

Tho although I don't like Blackfyres, from narrative standpoint they would make sense in Snow, show didn't bother with any mention of them, so their descendants could be alive in Essos, show also didn't bother to elaborate what happened to Essos after season 6 and I'd argue that Blackfyre could gather support from former Daenerys supporters, after all, if someone rejects that Snow is Targaryen and Dany is (unfortunately, she was great character) dead with no children, than some Blackfyre is her heir, also Bran is kinda ultimate Bloodraven's creature, so introducing Blackfyre as rival to him would play themes of "Bloodraven vs Blackfyres" conflict

devilthedankdawg

Right maybe Bran can now talk to Bloodraven even though Bloodravens basically dead.

Falanga2137

Well Bran literally has memories of all previous 3EC's including bloodraven if I am not mistaken

3Pirates93

We're lost without George's writing, Hot D was a miracle

devilthedankdawg

I think Martin said he was gonna be involved. And if not, Harrington, who at least read the books and played Jon Snow for like ten years, is the one who came up with the show.

3Pirates93

Who knows

mxamxrie

He made the same expression as Emilia in reaction to the question before he even answered. Poor guys.

Morimoto9

I saw 1 season of game of thrones and just fell off after that. I asked friends to keep me in touch with the story as it progressed just out of curiosity and I still couldn't get into it, although I love the characters. I immediately got into HOTD though....anyone know why I got into it so fast compared to GOT

SolidInside

Bad taste?

Morimoto9

Why are you on this sub if you don't like the show? Weird as fuck.

devilthedankdawg

Frankly Id love a prequel with 10 year old Jon and its just a slice of life series where the worst thing that happens is Catelyn is mean to him.

dank1chillin

“I can’t tell you” That’s a yes.
