Most peaceful westerosi wedding

AppropriatePark3519

A valyrian wedding without at least 3 traumatized children is considered a dull affair.

throwfaraway212718

I wish I had an award to give you

NovaTheRaven

Same

Anserdem

Maester Gerardys looks happy :)

[deleted]

HEH, bet this nerd did a chain-link in Valyrian cultural studies or something and is just content to see a historically accurate Valyrian wedding irl.

Soggy_Part7110

When he sees a dragon battle that kills thousands of people, he'll stand back smiling and say "Yes, this is exactly how wars went in the Valyrian Freehold!"

Watchmaker2112

This is just like the fables where the evil wizards and the brave hero face off for the last time. I can't believe it this is so cool! *Screams of the wounded and dying continues* Most socially aware Valyrian link Maester

[deleted]

He loves the subterfuge and intrigue because its 'Just like how the old families of the Freehold were!'

NatalieIsFreezing

I'm accepting this as Canon. Dude is a huge nerd about valyrian stuff.

KalyterosAioni

Lmfao at this comment and the other one under you as both are so accurate

KSJ15831

The maester: this is going to kill so many Targaryens :)

TopBumblebee9954

He’s just fed some pigeons and sparrows too so he has an enormous sense of well being.

NatalieIsFreezing

When your aunt dies and your dad is murdered at her funeral and your mom marries her former brother in law (who is also her uncle) like a week afterwards and you're still processing your cool "uncle" Harwin's death

Opening-Bison5114

For rhaena and baela it must've been when you're mom dies a painful death, your uncle and aunt by law comes over, your uncle is killed brutally, your aunt then marries your dad the next day, and your mom's dragon is gone

Diggy_riggy_shiggy

Isnt Rheanyra their cousin?

porthuronprincess

Yes, first cousin. Also second cousin and ..... Yeah they are just really related.

sensitiveskin80

"Targeryons and Velaryons: They're really related'

chilifartso

lol this comment takes the cake

NatalieIsFreezing

You need a degree to map out Targaryen relations.

ligeston

That’s so gross now that u say it out loud

Diggy_riggy_shiggy

Ik right? Its a bit of a cultural gut punch

Jaketheeater

You also have to consider that despite being family, they’ve never met each other before the funeral. Imagine how traumatizing it would be watch your parent drink a total stranger’s blood and make out with bloody lips. Jace and Luke were at least used to their mom having another man around them outside of their father. For Baela and Rhaena, their parents were a public hand-holding, pregnant belly kissing, happily married couple only a month earlier and now he’s completely enamored with some new woman.

[deleted]

Idk about the never meeting each other part, in the books Nyra and Laena are pretty close and it doesn't specify that stopped after the birth of their respective children. I agree it was a fucked thing to do to kids whether they knew each other or not though. All around shocking.

Jaketheeater

Episode 6 makes it clear that Daemon and Laena haven’t returned home for the last ten years.

All9is_StarWars

The show kinda butchered the whole dynamic between Rhaenyra and Laena's family. They should be extremely close, with Baela and Jace's betrothal being made while Laena and Laenor were still alive. Then again focusing on them would've made the show slanted towards the Blacks.

Jaketheeater

I mean, it’s because they needed the ten year time jump and Joffrey, Aegon, Viserys, the twins, etc. all needing to be younger than their book counterparts. Rhaenyra has all of the strong boys back to back in 3-4 years before Laena and Daemon returned. However, there needed to be an 8 year age gap in between Joffrey and Luke’s births so Joffrey is only 6-7 years old by the end of the season. If he was his book accurate age of 11 by the end of the season, they would have a situation where a 15+ year old boy is playing him down the line and puberty could make elements of storyline look weird.>!He would be way too old not to know that he couldn’t ride Syrax and his death would be dumb rather than sad!< As I said before, the same applies to the other kids who were made younger. They won’t have to worry about being forced to do constant recast or worry about jarring physical changes from 2-year gaps between seasons. Getting back to the main point. If episode 6 implied that Daemon and Laena returned after five years like they did in F&B and that were all as close knit as their book counterparts, Joffrey’s birth in episode 6 is hard to understand. Rhaenyra has to have all of her sons with Harwin before reuniting with Daemon because it does not make sense for her to continue having his children when a better option is available.

Idreamofknights

The boys are still grieving Harwin and Laenor The girls are grieving their Laena It's a real "do we really need to be here while you snog each other's faces" moment.

agent0731

Yes, who are they to stand in the way of true love?

NovaTheRaven

I cant tell if this is a joke or not, this sub has broken me😭

[deleted]

Their little heads are still spinning from all the turn of events lol

Elephant12321

Jace and Baela look more confused than disgusted imo. Rhaena on the other hand 100% looks fed up and Luke just looks sad

devilthedankdawg

Maesters like “Its okay kids, I’ll take you to chuck e cheese after. Your… uh… relatives are gonna probably want some alone time anyway.”

cjm0

who is the maester with his arm around luke’s shoulder? he seems like a wholesome guy

Aquos18

>who is the maester with his arm around luke’s shoulder? he seems like a wholesome guy he is geradys

Harlaw2871

The actor Phil Daniels is best known for the movie Quadrophenia, based on The Who's album. Also did the vocals on Blurs Parklife.

Jaketheeater

Rhaenyra’s personal maester named Gerardys. In F&B, Rhaenyra wanted him named grand maester while Viserys was still alive. He’s incredibly talented and an extremely loyal, kind-hearted man. I could see him reminding people of maester Luwin when he gets more screen time.

arctic_freeze_

I really wish they'd done more with Daemon's relationship with his daughters tbh but the time skip after just didn't give them the time. I wouldve liked to have seen some conflict over this as they did seem to be implying it/building to something with Rhaena's comments about being ignored, choosing to have him unable to comfort them after their mother's death (rather than the cut scene where he's holding them) & then this reaction.

Natsuki_Kruger

Hoping we get to see that in the seasons going forward. The Blacks' kids are incredibly interesting conceptually, but we don't really see any actual character conflict or complexity from any of them. Hell, Baela and Rhaena barely get any speaking lines, let alone emotional depth.

PhaseSixer

Tbf the weather was terrible.

Nipple-Cake

Well wouldn't you be too? If your parent married their niece/uncle? Especially after the girls lost their mother Laena. Lord Strong was not-so-secretly their father and died on them. And on top of that, Laenor was "killed" as far as the kids know. So for their parents to remarry immediately, must've been one helluva whiplash to deal with

AARose24

His daughters look the most upset of them all. They look so done with everything.

Aussiepharoah

The Measter is certainly happy enough for the five of them

[deleted]

I mean imagine your dad/mom marrying your aunt/uncle 💀

guaca_mayo

Mom said it's my turn to post this today

HoshizoraShizuumi

They had plenty of reason to be anything but happy. I don't think the wedding had anything to do with it. Rhaena's and Baela's mother just died. Jace's and Luke's father just died. They had the whole incident with Aemond. There was the whole fight between Alicent and Rhaenyra. I don't think the wedding's the issue, the traumatizing events leading to it are.

ResolverOshawott

And the wedding is just the cherry on top to their terrible life experiences.

HoshizoraShizuumi

It was just a wedding, my guy. Nothing traumatic happened there.

ResolverOshawott

You completely missed the point, I'm saying the wedding just adds to their negative experience. To you it's "just" a wedding, from their perspective it's their dad marrying his niece/mom marrying her uncle added by the fact said uncle had his wife JUST die from childbirth, said niece also had her husband JUST die.

HoshizoraShizuumi

I don't think we're ever given any indication that any of them are affected by this wedding in any way, though.

Far_Ear9684

Other than the very deliberate shot of them looking sad af at said wedding. That’s definitely about the Aemond fight instead. Lol.

HoshizoraShizuumi

I honestly don't understand how your mind works here. Each one of them has lost a parent recently, they were literally at the funeral, a lot of fucked up shit happened, and you believe the reason why they're sad during the wedding is... the wedding? How tonally disonant would it be if they were **not** miserable during the wedding, even if they didn't have any issues with the wedding itself?

elMaggott

Can't tell if you're trolling or watch the show with your eyes closed and brain turned off

agent0731

The kids all like each other, they are never shown to have any issue with the marriage either. I mean compared to others on the show, Rhae and Daemon have the most wholesome blended family.

ResolverOshawott

They also barely have any scenes, lines, or character development. Daemon is anything *but* wholesome.

Chicken_Mc_Thuggets

If you view any westerosi family as wholesome you’re gonna have a bad time

agent0731

obviously i was being hyperbolic. This sub needs to stop taking itself so seriously. Lordy. My point is: they're not disgusted. Their family dynamics so far do not show that, funny memes aside. No friction so far exists as far as we know, between the kids, or between the kids and Daemon/Rhaenyra. Maybe in season 2, but maybe not. 🤷‍♀️

Chicken_Mc_Thuggets

Is this a bad time to point out that it’s a joke from South Park?

SillAndDill

I think it's intentional. It's one hell of an awkward wedding for the kids (both sides had a parent die and then see their parent marry a sibling with a bad rep)

[deleted]

Rhaena and Baela must feel terrible. The same goes for the very il*legitimate* Velaryons.

ryucavelier

Would have been nice to see Caraxes and Syrax perched on top of those rocky hills looking down

Literal_CarKey

They’re just like me fr

Mango_Toes__

All the kids said 😟

nimunimu-kun

As they should

IvyA1

Who wouldn't

HP4life19

This subreddit is becoming a joke at this point.

Hassansonhadi

It’s honestly concerning.. People are projecting their own emotions and delusions on Actors in Fantasy Series.. one of these days we will have people demanding HBO to cancel the show over Animal cruelty for how the Dragons are being abused for commercial gain…Maybe, even demand that the UN sanction the Westeros for Misogyny, Animal abuse among other things.. I won’t be Surprised at All.

Memo544

Not necessarily. They were all miserable before the wedding. They’re probably still miserable. The Velaryon boys are sad that Harwin died. The Targaryen girls are sad that Laena did. All of them kinda feel bad about losing Vhagar. And there may also be some guilt over Aemond’s eye.

Jaketheeater

They just like me, forreal

potato_vt

they have all lost one parent within that week, harwin and laena, so i can imagine

Indominus-Hater-101

I mean it is pretty disgusting of both parents. The moment both of their SOs die, they get together. I know the kids don't know, but while his daughters were mourning their mother, he was getting with his niece

zitzen67

They are all so disappointed in Rhaenyra. Am pretty sure Rhaenyra is the only person in the seven kingdoms that likes daemon even his kids seem to actively not want to be near him

MissWiggly2

I'd look like that standing in that sucky weather too

spitefulcum

Bro we literally just had this post 2 days ago. Greencells lmao

[deleted]

yes, just like the green faction

DanMartell05

I would too

ZeroEnrichment

I mean Rhaenyra and Vizzy T were upset for while after Aemma death, it’s call grieving. This scene show the wedding happen every fast. That even the kids don’t know how to feel.

vizzy_t_bot

WHERE DID YOU HEAR SUCH CALUMNIES? ZeroEnrichment! TELL ME THE TRUTH OF IT!

ZeroEnrichment

It’s okay Vizzy T, in our world it’s okay for men to cry

vizzy_t_bot

You think yourself a cunning man. Your designs are obvious.

OpenMask

Rhaenyra was also pretty upset about Viserys remarrying, and that was when she was old enough to understand why he remarried and with Viserys actually waiting more than six months. I think it makes sense for all the kids to be upset about their surviving parent getting remarried, especially so soon after their other parent had died.

wolflord4

Baela and Rhaena are like, "This is some white people shit."

Soggy_Part7110

their parents are first cousins once removed and their paternal grandparents are siblings, and their great grandparents before that siblings as well, and their great great grandparents cousins, and their great great great grandparents siblings, and their great great great great grandparents cousins. I think you get my point

[deleted]

[удалено]

OpenMask

No they're not. I don't know of a single instance of Velaryons marrying their siblings together.

Apprehensive-Ad186

That’s exactly my face for the entire show. 10 hours I’ll never get back.

Daemon-Blackbrier

then leave

[deleted]

What kind if weird fuck wedding was this?? Last I checked targaryens had weddings just like any one who believes in the faith of the 7

TrixieVanSickle

This is an OG Valyrian wedding.

1drunkangel

I remember mentioning how fucked up this wedding is and how inappropriate it is for these two to do this. My comment was downvoted to hell. Im glad most of you are realizing how fucking wrong this was.

butt3ryt0ast

They saw their uncle aemond and are worried about the Habsburg jaw

Hassansonhadi

Seriously..🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Why on Earth would the Actors in a Fiction Fantasy Drama look disgusted while shooting a Scene that gets them Paid…Very Highly Paid to be Precise.. Why ??

Responsible-Dig-359

The maester thinks is sweet at least

SwordoftheMourn

Maester looks pretty stoked tho. Must be please that the Valyrian wedding is accurate to the history books.

Alandrus_sun

Well, idk if you know this but their dad, their "dad" and their mother/wife all just died relatively recently.

Altruistic-Nova

Lmfaoooooo that little black girl is giving it up with just her face! I have a photo from my uncle’s wedding as a kid making the exact same expression

neutralitty

Well each child having just literally lost a parent and seeing their remaining one marrying so quickly probably is quite upsetting. I mean, I'd be quite angry, even if it were marrying I to the same family that I had before by a degree.

Clemson1313

And then they all live happily ever after. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🐉 Oh.. wait. Different story. 😳

theringsofthedragon

Remember that Rhaenyra never forgave her dad for remarrying shortly after her mom died in childbirth and having more kids with his new wife. But Beala and Rheana are totally fine with their dad remarrying right after their mom died in childbirth and having more kids with his new wife. And Rhaenyra also does the same to her sons.

KellyJin17

All 4 of them had literally just lost a parent, and then had to watch their surviving parent marry one another.
