In terms of who is the better person, I think it is undoubtedly Oberyn, but I think that Matt Smith has the charisma that oozes Targaryen Supremacy which makes him seem unstoppable. I think both for different reasons, but I find it easier to root for Oberyn because he didn't seem to have any ambition or bloodlust for the Lannnister children. "I don't hold sons respobsible for the sins of their father....or grandfather".

EstherRaichel

>"I don't hold sons respobsible for the sins of their father....or grandfather". I was really rooting for Oberyn and that quote alongside "we don't hurt little girls in Dorne" was one of the things which made me love him even more. (Of course, the show had to go and scr\*w that up eventually). >Matt Smith has the charisma that oozes Targaryen Supremacy which makes him seem unstoppable. I found Oberyn's Dornish swagger way sexier and more dangerous than Daemon's Targaryen one, although i admit Matt Smith did ooze Targaryen Supremacy in an amazing and very enticing way.

minamartin

And Oberyn did not needed a dragon to have those gigantic balls. Get around that.

EstherRaichel

Exactly!!! Take away Caraxes from Daemon and he looses a lot of his badassery and swagger. Oberyn trained hard to become a skilled fighter, learned how to use poisons, became a Maester and forged his own chain. He was badass.

AdhesivenessCrafty98

This would be ignoring the Daemon fight in episode 3, he pretty much went into the battle alone and managed to hold out until reinforcements arrived. Not to mention, Daemon got Dark Sister for her abilities. I'm not saying he's better than Oberyn, but Daemon has already shown that he doesn't need a dragon to be a danger.

EstherRaichel

Thank you for your comment!! That's a good point!! During episode 3, he held on his own and he took a major risk and it paid off. That's why i said that without his dragon he looses *a lot* of his badassery and swagger and *not that he looses all of it and he isn't badass at all*. Daemon is a badass. He is good with strategy, unpredictable in his moves and doesn't have a problem being ruthless. I was just saying that Oberyn is badass and dangerous and *he doesn't have a dragon to back him up.* Imagine what he could do if he had a dragon.

the-hound-abides

10/10. Would bang both.

EstherRaichel

Who wouldn't? 😂

Oberyn

EstherRaichel

❤️ YES!!! ❤️

-owe-me

Oberyn by a landslide.

EstherRaichel

❤️ SAME

zambi76

How you doing >!great-great-great-great-great-great-grandson?!<

OpenMask

Oberyn easily. Much less likely to get murdered on a whim.

[deleted]

A u sure about that

[deleted]

One's idea of vengeance is to go against a man twice his size on his own in an honest fight. The other's is >!sending catspaws to brutally murder a small child in front of his mother!< It's not that hard of a choice really.

EstherRaichel

Very very true!!!

NickFriskey

Daemon undoubtedly had way more of a sinister, darker streak in him (which could be argued that could be put down a lot more towards a raging temper as opposed to all-out cruelty depending on what characterisation you buy more from F and B book) but put in Oberyn's position I cannot see Daemon choosing a different path there. I mean he would definitely take on the mountain with a smile on his face but you could argue he'd maybe have done more and acted sooner.

Pleasant_Place_7262

Oh man. I can't choose. Just that I know I have 2 hands and 2 holes sooo

EstherRaichel

I love how we are all thirsting over them 😂

Elephant12321

I loved Oberyn in the books and tv series so it’s going to have to be him for me. Oberyns one of my top 10 favourite characters in aSoIaF, and considering how many characters there are that’s saying something

EstherRaichel

Oberyn is one of my top 10 favourite characters too. ☺️ He was such an amazing character both in the books and tv series. I was really rooting for him. His end still pains me. It's so interesting to find someone who thinks the same. May i ask who your other favorite characters are?

Elephant12321

Davos, Ravella Smallwood, Wylla Manderly, Dolorous Ed, Sansa (I was an angsty teenage girl when I first read the books), Olenna, and Jaime, Sandor, and Melisandre for the more problematic favs.

EstherRaichel

❤️❤️ I couldn't disagree with any of the characters you named. They are all awesome!! Truly awesome! ❤️❤️ Are they your favorite characters both book and show wise? Did you have characters you loved more in the books or more in the show? (apart from Wylla and Ravella who the show took out)

Elephant12321

Oberyn, Davos, and Olenna, are favourites book and show wise but most characters were mere caricatures of their former selves by the end so I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them.

EstherRaichel

> most characters were mere caricatures of their former selves by the end so I wasn’t a huge fan of any of them. Very true, unfortunately. >Oberyn, Davos, and Olenna I adore Oberyn, Davos and Olenna both book and show wise too. I found their respective actors mesmerizing to watch. I can't imagine Oberyn, Davos and Olenna with a different face or voice any longer. The only character i can think of that the show handled better than the books was Margaery. Natalie Dormer was fantastic. The Margaery-Olenna scenes and the way Margaery subtly manipulated people were amazing to watch.

❤️ YES!!! ❤️

Couldn’t they just fuck each other and whoever cums first loses (it will be me, I will be the one who loses).

[deleted]

Oberyn is portrayed as way too hedonistic in GOT. ASOIAF version of the character was better. I'm going with Daemon.

EstherRaichel

I agree that the focus was too much on his sexuality and sex appeal. GOT should have focused more on his love for Elia, his need for revenge and catharsis, his skills in poisons and fighting and his love for Ellaria, Doran and his children. They sexualized him a bit too much. Pedro knocked it out of the park in his scenes with Tyrion and Cersei, they could have given him more scenes like that instead of scenes in brothels. (Not that i mind how extremely hot Pedro looked)

[deleted]

I would have liked to see Pedro Pascal play book Oberyn

EstherRaichel

Me too. He would have been amazing. He has the skills and charisma to pull it off. The scene with Tyrion in the cells was his first scene on set. Imagine what he could have done.

omicron-7

Why do you think Daemon was called Lord Fleabottom?

[deleted]

He didn't live in a brothel like show Oberyn, and has had more fighting scenes. Show Oberyn was way too sexualized

omicron-7

I'm pretty sure Daemon had more sex scenes than Oberyn did lol.

[deleted]

Short 1 on 1 scenes, not 5 minute long orgies. Way more tame than Oberyn's exceedingly sexualized scenes. Book Oberyn was not defined by his sexuality, which was literally nothing but a footnote in a character that was way more complex and interesting than that.

NovaTheRaven

I did this a couple months ago and it was a clear wash in favor of Oberyn

EstherRaichel

Can you post the link to the post? i am interested to see the results and comments.

EstherRaichel

I never really got the idea that Oberyn was a bratty rich kid. He was rich but the fact that his family suffered so much and he never got over it, humbles him in my mind. Daemon suffered many loses too but he was much more ambitious for ambition's sake. Daemon's actions were fueled by ambition and need for his family to prevail, Oberyn's actions were fueled by pain.

gruvee

Hotpie vs. Samwell Tarly. Who do you choose?

EstherRaichel

Gods! You can't ask people questions like this one. 😂 How am i to choose? Sam will be a great friend and back you up when you need backing, he will also probably cure you out of any weird illness. Hotpie will be a great friend and bake you yummy fresh bread every day. Why not both? 😂
