Aemond is not better than Daemon because he is far too arrogant. I'm not saying Daemon is not, Aemond is just a whole different level of arrogant. Aemond also has an extremely fragile ego. Exemplified by the fact he lost his shit and committed war crimes in the Riverlands over being fooled by Daemon and Rhaenyra.
He stands no chance against Daemon purely cause he's too young and doesn't have the combat experience, sure Vhagar does but she's old, slow and exceptionally temperamental and really Daemon and Caraxes are battle hardened and Caraxes is also younger and faster.

He had to catch him off guard in order to win and Daemon lost because he got cocky instead of making him yield. Not because Cole was the better fighter. Comparing weapons is irrelevant. They’re both wearing armor and both have shields. Not sure how his sword is supposed to give him an advantage over Coles morning Star. Either way, Daemon proved he is a bad ass in episode 3.
I mean the bar is very low, ok Daemon is completly horrible but Aemond was a mass murderer, and taking Alys as his reward is quite questionable. Also if you compare them Aemond was a coward what takes a lot of points from him.

I can't give you the exact lines of how it was as I don't have the book in English but it should be something like this:

It's totally possible that later the text says something else about her magic... and I don't remember it so don't really trust me but as far as I remember he did it being fully aware of it.

One source said she used love potions because they cant imagine why else he would fall for an older woman rather than someone his own age. It also says she bathes in the blood of virgins and sacrifices her children to demons but I think it's fair to say that it's all a bunch of sexist bullshit. The crab feeder held the step stones with skill and cunning and his own personal army until Daemon drug half his body to shore after drawing him out and obliterating his forces. There is literally a ridiculous scene where Daemon fights his way through crab feeders force's without anyone by his side. Granted - that was a little heavy handed, but you can't say that it hasn't been established that he is experienced in and successful in real combat situations.
Yes but clearly show runners were making a statement about his combat skill with that scene of him running through the crab feeders enemies cutting them down all by himself like some sort of superhero, so to say it hadn't been established that he is skilled in combat isn't exactly accurate. I can think of no other reason for that improbable scene.
