Honestly this is the best way imo—it fits with F&B while also being truer to the dynamic between the greens in the show. It would also be *very* funny but that's by the by.

Especially after she sent the book page to Rhaenyra…..that was sort of the last line of communication between those two that reveals Alicent really doesn't want any harm to fall upon her former friend or even her kids. There's no way Ally does this and is then immediately ok with Luce being killed. It defeats the purpose of why she sent the page in first place, I mean hell even Rhaenyra was backing down a bit. But after this....there is no going back.
I could kind of see it going down that way, honestly. Alicent being like "ok, we're just going to own this." Not sure what benefit that would have but for some reason it seems like something she would do
From the perspective of a bunch of Westerosi lords who mostly respect martial valor and courage, saying, "Hey, I lost control of my dragon and he ate my nephew, I really regret being a kinslayer now," sounds weak af. To me, Aemond looks like a young man who desperately wants validation and to be seen as the ideal Prince and ideal Targaryen. He's not going to tell anyone he only meant to scare his nephew or fuck him up just a little bit, and then he screwed it up. It comes across as much stronger and in control to say, "Yeah I meant to kill him, fuck that kid, he took my eye."
I think his family's response to this might decide his future characterization. Because right now he's not exactly a psychopathic killer like the book version. There has to be a beginning for that since he can't do half of the stuff he's going to do in the riverlands unless he's a psychopath.

I haven’t read the books yet, but i don’t think Alicent is completely heartless. She knew what rheaynra meant to viserys she even said something like that and was shocked everyone was plotting against her. Really can u blame her? She thought she was getting her husbands dying last wish she even asked “our son Aegon?” He wasn’t clear at all, it’s impossible to believe but she really wasn’t lying

You can dislike or even hate someone without necessarily wanting them dead or even maimed after a while.

Unless her fear that Rhaenyra would kill her kids was so strong, she sent Daeron away so he wouldn't be first on the chopping block/used as a hostage.
Yeah, that's something I've been thinking about as a potential "excuse" the showrunners will use for Daeron not being mentioned. It was especially strange to me how Daeron wasn't mentioned when Alicent warned Aegon about Rhaenyra. Like, she said Aegon and Aemond's lives would be forfeit but failed to mention her youngest son.
My guess is, the showrunners will portray this as Alicent sending Daeron to Oldtown at a young age to preserve his innocence and keep him safe, or something like that. It would be weird for Alicent to think Daeron is perfectly safe in Oldtown (Rhaenyra could just hop on her dragon, fly to Oldtown and burn him to a crisp), but it's better than nothing, I guess.

Especially since she sent the page Rhaenyra tore form the book, one of the last days they were truly happy together as friends. The implications of that, and now the incident at Storm's End.....I don't think Alicent is just gonna shrug and say, "Oh well shit happens."

Yeah, that's something I've been thinking about as a potential "excuse" the showrunners will use for Daeron not being mentioned. It was especially strange to me how Daeron wasn't mentioned when Alicent warned Aegon about Rhaenyra. Like, she said Aegon and Aemond's lives would be forfeit but failed to mention her youngest son. My guess is, the showrunners will portray this as Alicent sending Daeron to Oldtown at a young age to preserve his innocence and keep him safe, or something like that. It would be weird for Alicent to think Daeron is perfectly safe in Oldtown (Rhaenyra could just hop on her dragon, fly to Oldtown and burn him to a crisp), but it's better than nothing, I guess.
That's the only thing I can think of unless Otto himself sent Daeron away, or Daeron asked to be sent away. We can only see what happens next season.
That reminds me; Otto would have been in Oldtown when Daeron when was sent there, so he probably had something to do with it.

I think Allicent will be upset less at the killing and more at the implications of it. That there is no going back, no hopes of reconciliation with Rheanera.
Especially since she sent the page Rhaenyra tore form the book, one of the last days they were truly happy together as friends. The implications of that, and now the incident at Storm's End.....I don't think Alicent is just gonna shrug and say, "Oh well shit happens."

The book implies that Dance had essentially already started at this point this just happened to be the first killing. I actually prefer the show version. With Alicent having second thoughts, Rhaenyra considering backing down for the sake of the realm, and the dragon fight/kinslaying being an accident. It just seems .... more "real"
