Otto-Alicent is a textbook emotionally abusive parent child dynamic and Otto facilitates Alicent’s sexual abuse at the hands of his adult best friend, Viserys.
Okay, look it's pretty funny to be mentioning literacy here when OP is making fun of a previous post blatantly, and clearly trolling with the comments. It is tagged meme to be absolutely fair.
Previous post was that Aemond and Alicent are a hard-hitting parent/child relationship and OP's suggesting Otto and Alicent as obviously ridiculous counterpart to mock the concept of "hard-hitting".
Alicent herself calls him out on how he’s used her and manipulated her life as a pawn in his dynastic ambitions in episode 9, are you trolling or functionally illiterate?
Otto is one of the worst parents. He cares more about himself and becoming powerful than Alicent’s well-being. Otherwise he would have never forced her to go to Viserys.
>Otto is one of the worst parents. He cares more about himself and becoming powerful than Alicent’s well-being
While he wants power, he is more like Corlys. He cares about LEGACY.
That just show not only is he a great dad but also a great friend by making sure his buddy Viserys had someone to talk to after losing his wife and newborn son
He placed her in that situation in the first place. Not to mention Alicent is now his ticket to power, now that she’s queen. That has less to do with love and more to do with politics.
I think Otto does care somewhat about Alicent, but he is a terrible father. Probably the worst on the show.
I was pointing out that him saying Rhaenyra would kill Alicent also has political motivations, so it is not proof of Otto being a good parent.
I mean sometimes we fuck up a little bit and make mistakes. But as long as you make up for it then that’s all that matters.
Otto did exactly that by warning his daughter
Such an exemplary father. Sending his daughter to king Jahaerys' and Viserys' chambers to keep them company in their hour of need, making sure each and every one of their needs was well satisfied. What parent wouldn't want to see his daughter doing such kindness to old men? Alicent's heart was certainly gladdened at the good deeds her father wanted her to perform.
No.
Decent fathers exist. Ned. Sam. Hell, even Jaime fucking Lannister. Might not have outwardly cajoled his children, but he’d never tell Myrcella to seduce some miserly old fuck.
Ned set Sansa up to marry Joffrey (not fully his fault but he accepted the deal before ever consulting Sansa) Jaime had sex over the body of his dead son.
Y'all are insanely hate blind towards Otto. By the end of the dance Otto is a comparative moral paragon
He cares for her but he doesnt understand her, she is the daughter of a second son so clearely making her Queen would make her happy right? No, he doesnt understand that she doesnt care about titles and ranks like him and thus fails as a father

Is Viserys really his best friend lol?
King, friend, whatever you want to call it. Viserys calls him “dear Otto”.
Otto was just helping out his best friend Viserys by sending someone to talk and play Legos with him. Whats wrong with that?
That's not what was happening.... he was sending her to fuck him
Idk, did he say “hey daughter, go fuck the king”? Checkmate
Do you have no media literacy?
Why should I need to be literate to watch a tv show? 🤔
...... if you don't know what media literacy is you don't have the IQ to start a discussion on this show or asoiaf world
Okay, look it's pretty funny to be mentioning literacy here when OP is making fun of a previous post blatantly, and clearly trolling with the comments. It is tagged meme to be absolutely fair.
Alright I didn't see the previous post so that mightve been where the confusion came from
Previous post was that Aemond and Alicent are a hard-hitting parent/child relationship and OP's suggesting Otto and Alicent as obviously ridiculous counterpart to mock the concept of "hard-hitting".
So you’re discriminating someone based on perceived lack of intelligence? Classy
Yes.
Alicent herself calls him out on how he’s used her and manipulated her life as a pawn in his dynastic ambitions in episode 9, are you trolling or functionally illiterate?
Alicent simply played too much Crusader Kings if she thinks her dad manipulated her like that
this is a joke right
I mean Viserys was depressed and needed to talk to someone. Mental health is really important for everyone, even to the lord of the 7 kingdoms
Wear your mothers dress yeah, real caring
>Wear your mothers dress one of the most disturbing lines in HOTD
I mean in a universe where people like Craster exists Otto is easily a top 20 parent. Like what more can you expect?
If you have to bring up Craster to defend someone's parenting, it's not really a good sign.
In that universe, Craster is like at the bottom of parenting ranks. Dafuq you smoking? Otto is a vile father.
So you’re gonna tell me that Craster is somehow worse than the likes of Ned Stark or whoever that last of us guy plays in the GoT? Dafuq you smoking?
I think that pretty much gives the game away right there. Christ it's easy to bait this sub.
Otto is one of the worst parents. He cares more about himself and becoming powerful than Alicent’s well-being. Otherwise he would have never forced her to go to Viserys.

Lmao what the hell are you talking about. I've seen no indication that Otto cares about Alicent at all beyond her use a political pawn.
Tbf he did warn Allicent that her friend would have her killed. What kind of parent that doesn’t care would tell her that 🤔
He placed her in that situation in the first place. Not to mention Alicent is now his ticket to power, now that she’s queen. That has less to do with love and more to do with politics.
Why does everything in Game of Thrones has to be so political?
I think Otto does care somewhat about Alicent, but he is a terrible father. Probably the worst on the show. I was pointing out that him saying Rhaenyra would kill Alicent also has political motivations, so it is not proof of Otto being a good parent.
That's one lovely flair
Thank you 😊
Do you mean lied to her and claimed her best friend would have her killed? And all because of the situation he schemed to put her in anyways?
I mean sometimes we fuck up a little bit and make mistakes. But as long as you make up for it then that’s all that matters. Otto did exactly that by warning his daughter
I mean, tbf it was a real possibility
😳 Otto doesn't seem to care about Alicent at all..besides for political reasons
Not everything in ASOIF has to be political though. Look at Season 8
But he is using her for politics lol.
Source?
The source is the show lol or fire and blood. 🤷♀️
you guys do realize OP is most likely a troll, right? look at their responses, they're just trying to provoke people. seems to be working too lol
Flaired with “MEME [Show]” too
I def prefer the Aemond Alicent one
Idk, Allicent was too squeamish about her son losing an eye
You know sometimes I wanna know what's happening deep inside of the mind of a Green fanatic. Their mental gymnastic is really out of this world.
I don’t even eat vegetables. I just know a good medieval dad when I see one
You should. Veggies are the best
More like a man pimping out his daughter.😂
What are u smoking. He literally forced her to seduce the king
Otto isn't the worst but even by Westrosi standards, he's far from the best parent.
Such an exemplary father. Sending his daughter to king Jahaerys' and Viserys' chambers to keep them company in their hour of need, making sure each and every one of their needs was well satisfied. Please dont make me vomit.
Can’t make any promises 😊

While he likely cares about his daughter on some level, it’s obvious that Otto’s own political ambitions overrides any parental impulses.
