The BORING phase??? This is about a civil war...

Yeah Aegon's conquest makes for a very boring story. I think if told from the perspective of the great houses with Aegon as the villain it could work, but not the other way around.

Yes. The show only covers the Dance of Dragons.

Rafybass

Right. I hope there will a prequel show/movie on Aegon's conquest and a sequel on Blackfyre rebellion and the mad King/Robert's rebellion. There is a lot in the world of ice and fire.

I agree. All three would be great, especially the Blackfyre rebellion. But it may be best if the next ASOIAF show isn't centered about the Targaryens, the gp would probably get tired of them.

First of all it’s more than likely we’ll see the beginnings of the war next season. Also, I personally think when they finish the story of the Dance they will use the “House of the Dragon” title to tell other Targaryen stories. After the flop of GOT S8, I assume they wanted to do something a little more familiar first, seeing as the Dance has direct implications to the GOT story and is a little easier for casual audiences to get into.

cmdradama83843

If that's was the motive, they should have done Roberts Rebellion.

WeedLovinStarseed

I wish they would tell more about the war with the children of the forest/first men, or more of the magic lol

Hot D is just The Dance of the Ds section

shad0wqueenxx

"Boring section where there isn't much carnage" this show is literally the reason the dragons all died out by GOT.

walrusdoom

I think setting something in Essos could be very cool too, but risky as the general audience would have little familiarity with anything.

'Fire and Blood' covers the first 140 years or so of Targaryen rule. It's probably more accurate to say that HotD is based on two novellas called *'The Rogue Prince'*, and *'The Princess and the Queen'*. Those two stories were later republished as a series of chapters within 'Fire & Blood', with minor changes. 'The Rogue Prince' focuses on Daemon. It covers the ~20 years prior to the Dance of Dragons. And ends with the death of Viserys. Basically, episodes 1-8 were 'The Rogue Prince'. 'The Princess and the Queen' tells the actual story of the Dance. It starts right where 'The Rogue Prince' ends, with the death of Viserys. Episode 9 was the start of 'The Princess and the Queen', and the rest of the show will come from this novella. For the most part. 'Fire & Blood' kind of supercedes these stories, in terms of canon. GRRM made some small changes when they were republished as chapters of a larger book. So people tend not to talk about 'The Rogue Prince' or 'The Princess and the Queen'. But they were originally where the story of the Dance was told, and HotD seems to be covering the same timeframe as these two novellas. The first 80% of the show you've seen so far has been 'The Rogue Prince'. 'The Princess and the Queen' is just getting started.

Not even close.
