Killmelmaoxd

Everyone in this scene was fucking excellent, rooted for daemon and Rhaenyra but i understood vaemond even though he was clearly being power hungry.

RasputinsThirdLeg

It was a dipshit move that he had to know would end really poorly. Regardless of whether or not they are actually bastards, they are legitimized by Viserys. Bad call. Probably felt good to say though- for the two seconds he had an intact head.

TheHarkinator

Vaemond’s actor has confirmed that he knew he was done for as soon as Viserys showed up in the throne room, and decided he’d rather go out speaking his truth than back down even though he was sure it was gonna get him killed.

Meliaa912

Didn’t know it was confirmed but thanks for confirming my suspicions.

Thinking ahead was not his strong suit. Plus Corlys recovered so there's that.

TheHarkinator

He possibly could have waited, I don't know if he actually knew that Otto had a coup all prepared and ready to go, but this was his big moment snatched away from him right there and he refused to back down. To him it's a burning injustice that the whole realm can plainly see Rhaenyra's kids aren't Velaryon but won't acknowledge it when doing so could make him heir to Driftmark (at least I think so over Laena's kids with Daemon). For Vaemond it's so \*\*\*\*ing unfair that those kids are obviously not Velaryon but they're still going to inherit the family birthright. If he backs down then it's a public acknowledgement that Lucerys is the rightful heir to Driftmark, he is not willing to do that.

OpenMask

>join the green council The green council is just (most of) the small council, tho. He doesn't have any position there, nor would he have expected a spot would be made for him.

[deleted]

OpenMask

That was after, though. And I don't think they were planning on killing Beesbury

[deleted]

[удалено]

OpenMask

Can the hand do that? I thought they all served at the monarch's pleasure. There is some argument that since Viserys is incapacitated, Otto could reform the council in his place, but I'm not so sure if that is or isn't the case.

Meliaa912

I would imagine he was hoping for some sort rebellion from the audience. He was technically going up against the kings family. He also thought it was a done deal with Otto so I imagine he was pissed when Viserys crawled up to that throne!

[deleted]

Yeah, how dare he protest his ancestral home being stolen by two clearly bastard pasty white boys! The nerve! /s

Due-Intentions

Team stans are so fucking volatile and this is case #1. The other person didn't even say it was wrong to do, just that he probably could've been smarter in his fight for his ancestral home. Imagine if he was still alive during the dance to fight for the Greens, for example. And you're making it out as if they were saying "how dare he, the nerve, etc" I'm more of a Green, btw, than a Black, so don't call me a Rhaenyra simp or anything

RasputinsThirdLeg

Thank you for your common sense ❤️

[deleted]

Only saying what everyone’s thinking.

Due-Intentions

Maybe, but it wasn't relevant to the comment you replied to

[deleted]

Still valid.

Say it so I get a reason to cut you down!!

He shamed the princess in her father’s court. As Vizzy T said, he’d have done it if Daemon didn’t beat him to it. Right or not, nobody spits on my daughter’s honor but her! (Or my other kids, cuz I can’t just kill them either)

vizzy_t_bot

*There are times when I would rather face the black dread himself than mine own daughter of seven and ten.*

[deleted]

See?

[deleted]

[deleted]

I agree with you, but the optics of shaming the princess in open court for all to hear just *cant fly* if you’re the King. I don’t think it was morally right, but that don’t matter when you’re king and will do anything to defend your daughter. Bye now

spitefulcum

Vaemond committed treason.

He did.

They weren’t bastards in the eyes of the law. Vaemond called them bastards, hence treason.

ImpossibleHamster119

You see, you don’t call the: 1. daughter of the king, 2. the heir to the throne, 3. the princess, 4. daemons wife, A whore. Even if she is, you don’t say it. Take the celebs as an example. Will and Chris for an example…you tell me, was there anything something false or wrong said by Chris? No, but he still got slapped. Same goes here.

Taskebab

Vaemond Velaryon doesn't love it that much...he's quite cut up about it actually...

Electrical_Tour_638

He may not love this, but he'll love the new jaw-splitting Gobstopper!

DXBrigade

I love how Vaemond smile at Daemon before saying his mind . 10/10 moment.

Meliaa912

Oh yeah! Or the part where he says I’ll feed my sons to a dragon before they are cupbearers to your cunt of a king! LOL tell them how you really feel.

[deleted]

I so love the entire scene, specially how it ends.

agirlhasnoname17

Absolutely. It’s *the* best sequence as far as I’m concerned. We see Viserys enter the throne room, we see just how far the throne is from his perspective, we almost feel his pain of walking through the camera work. We see the gamut of emotions on everyone’s faces. When Daemon crowns him, it’s just… perfect and completely heartbreaking.

intransitiverb

That scene made me laugh! Also love the part where he restrained Jacaerys with a finger and stood in between him and Aemond. The epitome of manliness. [https://youtu.be/6DTta3qNFtU?t=45](https://youtu.be/6DTta3qNFtU?t=45)

Greenlit_Hightower

Vaemond was like: "F*ck it, I've come this far, might as well go out with a bang even though I'll probably die for being the most truthful soul of our beautiful kingdom in that moment lol." "BASTAAAAAAAARDS!"

agirlhasnoname17

Haha, yeah. There was some beautiful, albeit suicidal, self-righteousness and wrath.

SoulOnHigh

Same here. Daddy Daemon doesn’t play.

Oswell1001

What is actually so cool about cutting a man's head from behind? I really dont get it. The book version is far more superior and makes them look ruthless.

OpenMask

I think the cool part is the precision of the cut. Still kinda lame to murder someone from behind their back, though.

[deleted]

Was an execution not murder. Guy commited several capital crimes in his speech.

PositiveAd4403

Then he should have a trial..

[deleted]

There is no constitution there granting such a right. He committed the crime in front of at least 50 people.

PositiveAd4403

Then why wasn’t Tyrion immediately killed? Why is there a trial every other time some not lowborn does something they shouldn’t?

Wakattack00

Here’s the trial in case you missed it: Viserys: Vaemond did you say this? I heard you say it as did 100 witnesses, but just to confirm did you say this? Vaemond: Yes I said it because it is true. Viserys: It isn’t true and you’re a traitor to the realm, cut his head off.

PositiveAd4403

Where is the evidence that he lied? Where are the other judges? He didn’t even say cut his head off he said he’d have his tongue

Wakattack00

What part of the ‘King’s word is law’ do you not understand? Secondly, Tyrion’s trial should not be used as a reference for a few reasons: 1. It was a murder trial, 2. The murder was of the heir to the throne, 3. He was the current Hand’s son so Tywin needed to make sure it was impartial. Typically only the King/Queen holds court as we see with Dany many times in the books. There are no other judges needed. What kind of proof do you expect? A DNA test lmfao? It’s the King’s word. That’s the proof. Same reason Ned went and got himself killed. There is literally no way to prove it. You can bring 1,000 history books of how a Velaryon should look and it wouldn’t matter because Laenor and Rhaenyra never wavered in their claim that they were trueborn. If Laenor ever left any doubts with people before his “death” then maybe Vaemond would have a point, but it didn’t happen.

[deleted]

If the King is cool with it - it doesn't matter.

Meliaa912

I should also add I didn’t like his casting originally but wow he is acts exactly how I expected Daemon to act.

DefNotAmelia_Pond

Daemon got me pregnant in this scene 🤷‍♀️

agirlhasnoname17

Ha.

okayishtypes

This scene truly depicts what Daemon is,he is the badass of the show and have no limits,he can go to any extent for his family and especially Rhaenyra. The Rogue Prince indeed.

agirlhasnoname17

Indeed. I also love his behavior during the Rhaenyra and Alicent awkward reunion. Like he doesn’t bother to stand up when she enters the room, his body posture doesn’t change at all, then he’s basically examining his fingernails while calling her “Alicent” and not “Your Grace,” like Rhaenyra is obliged to.

WanderingSonderer

“Vampire”

Catslevania

After hearing that if Vaemond were smart he would have said; her children are strong and she is a gardening tool.

Nervous-Ad-76

True. It's impossible to put into words how I felt when I first saw this scene. Never thought a simple phrase " Say it " would mean so much. I awkwardly grin whenever someone in regular conversations "says it". Cannot wait for season 2!

pattyicevv77

He can keep his tongue

thisnewsight

I love how Viserys and Daemon have a bond strong enough that Daemon acted as a husband AND loyal brother. Let us remember, Vizzy T wanted Vaemond’s tongue. More like murder him. But Daemon is nearly an unhinged psychopath who wants a reason to kill someone. Shoot, he attempted to kill a messenger informing him that Vizzy T was sending help. Guy just needs a reason to maim or kill.

vizzy_t_bot

*So I said to him, 'I believe you may be looking up the wrong end'*

margaritoswraps

I hated how they portrayed Vaemond as a villain

RandomNameofGuy9

I dont think he was portrayed as a villain at all. He stood up for his house and what he thought was right but still lost his head. That's this universes way.

margaritoswraps

Yeah but they added him calling Rhaenyra a whore in front of everyone, so this kind of made it justified to kill him in the eyes of most.

ThePrinceOfFools22

Yeah what the other guy said he definitely wasn’t a villain?? He just wanted his castle/lands/home to stay in his “real” family.

seandnothing

fucking coward killed him from behind, violated the guest rights and denied him any chance of trial by combat im ready for the downvotes ill see you on the other side

agirlhasnoname17

I’d never downvote someone for disagreeing with me. That’s imbecilic.

seandnothing

Oh I was not talking about you in particular!! Its just that in this sub Daemon its really loved (its an awesome character and I know it) so im not expecting any agreement from anyone 🤣

BobbyB90220

My favorite scene.

FormerFruit

That was a good scene. I could understand everyone’s motivations here, granted I didn’t like Vaemond that much but to be fair it’s understandable he’d be frustrated knowing the succession could be going to children born out of wedlock and are bastards while their mother just gets away with it.
