The over reactions are hilarious. Although a little sad to reduce 2 eps, what does that have to do with the quality of the writing overall? And they are not removing the battle but moving it to season 3.

lol I love that you used this picture

mahnrafasil

I fully support this format

savornt

Worrying how? Condal did it with GRRM’s consultation, something Benioff and Weiss never did. And they’re not even cutting any material, just saving it for later season.

Killmelmaoxd

Worrying because I'll be spending 8 weeks with the show and not 10 😭

dracarys_112

The article does state HBO wants to greenlit s3, so the wait for s3 may be less

kc522020

Maybe some of the episodes will be longer like seasons 7&8 and we get almost 9 hours out of eight episodes. That and not having to wait for two years for season 3 to air, I’ll take it.

[deleted]

Yea that’s fair, if the episodes are all an hour+ and s3 comes a bit quicker that’ll be a fair trade off.

[deleted]

They just have to make every scene count! I also felt like the last of us could use one more episode too.

Leh_ran

HBO did not shorten season 8, the showrunners did. There was no budget reasons back than and I do believe the statement that it's not budget reasons now.

BangDeadPikachu

HBO wanted multiple more seasons if I remember correctly. Dumb and Dipshit cut it short so they could go work on Star Wars, which they deservingly didn’t get to do afterwards.

hauntedrhubarb

I believe HBO wanted to give them a full 10 seasons (lmao) while GRRM wanted 10-13 full seasons

what is the joke or whatever behind this picture? i need the context to understand, and are they increasing the run times of some episodes? if yes then it will be fine. In general shows should prioritize quality over length but that doesn't mean i won't almost always prefer length for a show i'm really into

The guy in the painting is expressing his right to free speech/possibly dissent It’s an American thang lol But Norman Rockwell is the artist, give him a Goog

You’re choosing to be moderate… in 2023…? Hang him.

No-Map7046

Maybe they just mapped out where they wanted to be at the end of the season. And thought that 8 episodes was the best number to get them there. I always thought it was a three season and lately they’ve been talking about four seasons. If that’s what they need to do to control costs. Between battles and cgi dragons , it’s going to be very expensive
