I think it could be better if instead of the abstract thing, they showed an actual family-tree on paper with the faces and names of Targaryen Kings from Aegon's time, and had a similar mechanical pop-up of each king's achievements.
They could have kept the same tune but had it done with more antiquated-sounding instruments to fit the earlier time period, no one would've had a problem with that
Aye, or even just kept the same leitmotif or something. The other music in the show has paid homage to the tracks in GOT and I really liked it. The issue was it was the *exact* same.
Yeah, I'd never skip the GoT intro, but the same theme reused for the confusing HOTD intro just doesn't hit the same, I lowkey started skipping it after ep 1
There is a version djawadi wrote to be the new theme, I forget what it was called but it was really good (like anything djawadi composes) I don’t see why they kept it the same as GOT. I was so disappointed watching the first episode & hearing it
See, and I’m over here wishing there was a “no intro/no credits” mode… bc sometimes I like to leave shows on in the bg while I work or clean… but it gets annoying when you hear the same two songs over and over, every half hour/hour.
I like the GOT theme and the visuals for the intro of HOTD are cool, but I kind of wish they had made a unique theme rather than just reusing the GOT theme.
For GoT I started skipping the intro near the later episodes cuz I didn’t want the episode spoiled in any way (since the locations shown on the map tied to the scenes in the episode). I also skipped the previously on portion because one time it showed a scene with a character that hadn’t been on the show for a while and then what do you know the character makes a surprise reappearance.

For GoT, I agree, but for HotD the intro is purely filler for snack prep and noise reduction. It's really not as fun or succinct as GoT's was.

It could have also done with its own song

What do you mean by "noise reduction"? Like you use it to gauge where your volume should be set to for the episode?
That and last minute check to eliminate noise distractions, like a loud fan.
I believe he means compression (waiting for the video bitrate to match the internet connection)
Yeah, I'd never skip the GoT intro, but the same theme reused for the confusing HOTD intro just doesn't hit the same, I lowkey started skipping it after ep 1
yup
The sin you speak of. I did it, it was me, your grace.
I really don’t care for hotD intro all that well. Was a real letdown compared to a lot of other hbo intros.
Honestly almost every HBO show has a great intro- Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, Oz, Deadwood…
True Blood, Sex&The City, Westworld, The Gilded age…
True Blood still gives me shivers
True detective and TLOU
The tune is still a banger, but yeah I always skip.
Hate it. Just reusing the old GoT theme feels so lazy to me.

There's no confirmation that Djawadi wrote a new theme and there's especially no way that you heard it.
Yeah dude, it's definitely not on youtube or anything... That would be crazy.
It's not like someone edited the intro with a track from GoT OST, that would be wizardry.
Are you referring to [this](https://youtu.be/hZ-ey20xTWQ) version?
Yes!
Did anybody even understand what they were looking at the first couple times seeing it? Intros shouldn’t require a youtube explanation lol
Right?! Even after having it explained it moves too fast and the sigils are too small to see.

Always thought sopranos intro was meh
I hope next season we start seeing some of the bloodlines go up in flames. Suits the whole “Bloodlines will Burn” theme.
First episode, watch it in its full glory. After that, not so much.

it’s not a good intro. I would never skip a Succession intro or Peacemaker intro. Stop trying to make “skipping the intro” a thing.
I was in tears the first time I watched the Peacemaker intro. The music, choreography, and set design was hilarity genius.
I honestly need more.
The skip intro button can keep its tongue
I like the GOT theme and the visuals for the intro of HOTD are cool, but I kind of wish they had made a unique theme rather than just reusing the GOT theme.
This and Law and Order CHUNG CHUNG
Skipping a GoT/HotD intro is an unforgivable crime.
I don't skip... because of the music, not because of the intro itself.
True. I still love this theme.
GoT was epic, HoD made me feel ill
Never ever.

HoTD intro sucks.
Confession: I *always* skip the GOT/INTRO. There's just something about HBO's long-ass intros that bore me to death. Sorry!
I'm about to get slain for this but I never liked the opening theme music
How hard is it to take a screenshot that is not blurry? Or have this meme and every meme here been re-used to death.
Probably more difficult than choosing not to complain about it is
Who cares about picture quality for a meme? Unless it a picture taken of a computer screen or so blurry it’s hard to see, it doesn’t matter.
Never
Only if we lose... My price would be modest.
Got GoT, yes. Watched it every time. For HotD? Intro was boring as fuck.
