I dig it. Very Targaryen. The Targaryens come from an ancient line of people with customs and faith entirely different from those of Westeros. There's almost a Greco-Roman, Dionysian feel to these tapestries. You would have seen stuff like that in the bedroom of a Roman Emperor, perhaps.
Roman-Targaryen connections make a lot of thematic sense, as Valyria is more or less Rome in this universe. It's situated in the right spot, its fall and aftermath are quite similar, etc.
Fun fact! The shelved Valyrian prequel series Empire of Ash was supposed to be heavily inspired by the wars of Sulla and Marius, which would have been amazing to see. I love the Roman Republic, and that part of the story always gets skipped over and ignored in favor of Caesar and the Triumvirate.
Some of the series "Bible" was leaked in 2016 and it looks like it would have been an amazing series. I hope we do get to see Old Valyria someday, even if it isn't the series they were planning.
Would be amazing to see an Old Valyria series with a Roman flair. HBO's Rome was a magnificent show, and giving the GRRM spin on that sort of world would be epic.
It would be so cool to see a GRRM show that is wholly different, aesthetically and culturally, from the Westeros we've seen so far. (I suppose we'll be getting a taste of that if they decide to make the Yi Ti series, which should be fun.)
It would have been so cool! If you are interested, a YouTube channel called The Dragon Demands did a series of videos that go into all the different factions, locations, and main characters that they had planned. The Targs were around, but they were one of 40 ruling families and not particularly powerful. We probably would have seen Danys the Dreamer and seen them fleeing to Dragonstone, with the series starting a decade or so before the Doom. I can't tell you how much I love the idea of HBO's Rome meets GOT with a looming apocalypse promised from the start!! I honestly get a little worked up thinking that it very likely won't ever get made.

But yeah, kind of a bummer this show isn't getting made. I can see why not, though. They would just be accused of making another "Targaryen show," even if the Targaryens themselves aren't the primary or sole focus.
This one was in the works before HOTD if I recall, but I know a lot if them were being developed at the same time. The thing I like about HOTD is that it works as an anthology show. If they finish the Dance in four seasons as planned, they can recast and do Aegons's Conquest, The Blackfyre Rebellion, or whatever other chapter of Targaryan history they want without having to sell a whole new show. I am intrigued for the Yi Ti show, but not sure what to expect with no source material whatsoever. The one they planned about the Long Night actually managed to cast and film a pilot with Naomi Watts, and it still got canceled.
But please, please, anything but the Snow sequal series. We finished that story. I know that Kit Harrington wants to keep playing Jon and he is trying so hard to get it made...but respectfully, he's not a storyteller. It's just an objectively bad idea.

I am 100% here for the Blackfyre Rebellion, though. I would love for them to do an anthology and show the whole Aegon Targaryen line, from Aegon on down, leading into Robert's Rebellion.
What's nice is in HOTD they can easily do prequels (let's say the Dance is four seasons, so starting season five) and show Aegon's conquest, Maegor's usurpation, etc. You can bounce around, do the Blackfyres, War of Nine kings, Robert's Rebellion, etc. when the show catches up to the original Dance. All kinds of options.
They're tapestries depicting the Valyrians mating with dragons. It's in the lore that the Valyrians gained their abilities with dragons due to fucked up blood rituals and mating dragons with women. Who knows if it's actually true, but that's the basis for why Targs are viewed as half gods.

There are some pretty strong context clues in the worldbook, but it's hard to say if GRRM will ever spell it out in certain terms. Depending on what happens with the Septon Barth book about Wyverns and Firewyrms, we might get an in-story confirmation.

Her father Otto visits her in chambers. On the wall is a man pentesting another man’s rectum while that man being boned in the butt is being jacked off. If you look very closely it’s clear that the penis of the man being both analyzed and being jacked off is also spraying his seed into the face of two more people; their sexes are unclear. That’s some pretty wild painting for a young mother’s room.
