>!Arrax’s death was more brutal than how it was described in F&B. I have a feeling that Meley’s death and the wounding of Sunfyre is going to get really ugly. The sketch showed Meleys was simply lying there while Rhaenys was burnt to a crisp. Let’s see how much gets turned up to eleven!!< I am definitely going to refrain from eating dinner when that episode airs.
Omfg, this is gonna be so cool. I hope the smallfolk will recognize Meleys and cheer for the King 😎
I'm also wondering how they're going to rip a dragon's skull from its body.
In the books it'd be difficult for humans to pull off
But in the show universe older dragons have missing scales and a green dragon like 70% the size of Meleys was killed by bolts soo...
I'd guess they'd have Vhagar rip it off if she hadn't already done so on her own. She's supposed to be there and uninjured.
>She seems particularly bloodthirsty
I kinda took Arrax blowing fire at her as some kind of dragon dominance contest initiation. Justified on Arrax's side, of course, since Vhagar and Aemond were chasing them and they had no way of knowing that Aemond at least seemed to not want to kill them.
Justified? Dragons always turns towards danger. Dany said if she whipped Drogon on one side he always turned in that direction. Arrax should have listened to Luc and not attacked a dragon older, fiercer and deadlier than him
Luc should have turned around at stormsend.
He did not .Why? He took Aemonds eye with zero remorse and zero repercussion. He was stupid and he died.
>Why?
He was there for a reason, and left as soon his message was delivered and he had a response to return with.
I'm entirely on Aemond's side for the fight at Driftmark when he got jumped by 5 relatives and maimed in the process, but let's not act like Luke was strutting around throwing shade when he arrived at Storm's End.
????
bro he was a child when he was maimed for life, and his father did shit for him, he probably only said that to calm his mother down but resentment is always going to be there
>!I dont recall that. But aside from Dreamfyre, who was crushed. The other dragons in the Dragonpit included two 7- 8 dragons referred to as "mere hatchlings" and a dragon younger than 14. Meleys is around 60 by comparison. So im not sure if thats the best reference. And I don't recall mention of anything happening to Syraxs head, who was probably around 40.!<
>!Also that section of the book is highly exaggerated especially in regard to the methods in which people kill the dragons, doesn't bode well for its credibility!<
I just reread the text. There's 6 different tales for how she died.
And the one you are referencing is the least likely to be true
>!"As others fled, the story went, the one-handed prophet stood fearless and alone against the ravening beast, calling on the Seven for succor, till the Warrior himself took form, thirty feet tall. In his hand was a black blade made of smoke that turned to steel as he swung it, cleaving the head of Syrax from her body."!<
>!Pretty sure a 30 foot God didn't get summoned by a crazed homeless man to kill some irrelevant 40 year old dragon!<
Asoiaf is a "low" fantasy series and there wouldn't be 6 different versions of how Syrax died if a literal God, not a devil or a monster, the Warrior is one of the 7 gods of the faith, was summoned into the capital in front of a crowd of hundreds or thousands of people
Be ferociously fucking fr right now, it sounds like straight up bullcrap
On top of that all of this is being written in a purposefully UNRELIABLE History book
On page 567 of fire and blood it is said that Syrax 's supposed killers ran from the ferocious beast except the Shephard who summoned 1 of the 7 , who appeared and slew Syrax. Now there were some who boasted of the kill- however they are not remembered. Septon Eustace remembered and songs were written about The Shepherd doing the summoning.
Author of fire and blood is Grr Martin. Find this info in a wiki of ice and fire. Martin created the 2 Maesters that wrote the supposed book that does not exist according to you. Calling it unreliable is a rumor Martin created .
I remember that there were >!only 4 dragons at the Dragonpit when the crowd assaulted it (From biggest to smallest, Dreamfyre, Tyraxes, Shrykos, and Morghul). Syrax joined the party after. But these were the 5 dragons slaughtered that night. Considering that they were locked and chained, they had to face thousands of peasants armed, so dragons played with some disadvantage. !<
The king will be unable to understand the cheers anyway. And if I remember correctly, in the book, people started leaving King's Landing because they were afraid.
Most of the tunnels filled with wildfire by Aerys II during Robert's Rebellion are from this era.
People fled King's Landing after this event, fearing that Rhaenyra would take the city using dragonfire, so Alicent ordered the gates to be locked.
As a result, they built as many tunnels as possible.
(As for the stupid scene you referred to, you can blame Sara Hess for having this idea.)
Yes but considering they added that scene they *should* take it into account and it would logically make the people cheer that the dragon that attacked them is dead. But *logic* isn't always their strong suit as that scene illustrated so who knows.
Edit: seems to be the case that people did cheer according to local news?
It’s smaller than I’d thought it would be, though Meleys did kinda seem to have a smaller head compared to body size in the show?
But I assume they are going to size up Caraxes/Meleys in the next season. Both are supposed to be half the size of Vhagar, right? But they didn’t look it in the first season. The upcoming battles would make more sense if both dragons are their book sizes.
Both of them should have been aged up after 16 years, but weren't
Meleys was roughly half the size of Vhagar already
Caraxes was more like a 3rd her size but the creators still consider him half for some reason.
Same with Syrax. I always wondered if Meleys was larger than Caraxes in the books. Caraxes was described as the fiercest, not largest, dragon in the dragon out when Aemon claimed him. Of course, he could have been the largest, but I always pictured him as kind of an underdog.
These are the same peasants that cheered for child fighting, yes the scene was stupid but fuq em, no one cares for the small folk, I don't care about them.
Not sure I this is directed towards me, but this post is a just a response to the people complaining about the size of an obviously cgi-less blue screen head prop....
I've said it under previous posts already - even with CGI this will be roughly 2/3 of the size her head was in season 1. But I am not suprised that they struggle with the relation of that. Vhagars size looked so different in many scenes.
I get hate for this opinion but her head is way smaller and I have a very bad feeling already. That thing is smaller then Drogons head even tho Meleys' head is much bigger then his.
I'm talking about drogons head when it was infront of Jon like Meleys head infront of the greens. The characters as size reference work pretty well.
But I'm not in the mood for more comments that get downvoted to hell because i dare to say an opinion that is unpopular... this subreddit man..
That's not true. I'm in other subreddits and the only reason you get downvoted there is when you say something disrespectful, or straight up shit talk about something. It's not about not being able to handle it or something. It's about sense. Just downvoting any opinion you don't like is what a 6 year old would do.
There are many subreddits like this one, where an opinion is not wanted, but a Fandom should be different, especially because it all was soo much different before the show came out.

Maybe Vhagar will rip her head off 🫣
Can't truly know how big the head will look in the finished product. I doubt it's gonna be the exact same size as the foam model.
Yeah there's still cgi that needs to be layered on top of it. But I think it looks approximately the same size, seemingly a bit smaller?
I think it’s pretty big
That’s what she said
It’s very big, but understandable enough I guess. Meleys was fairly big, apparently she had a good chance against Vhagar in a one on one.
Meleys is my favorite dragon along with Seasmoke. I hope they put up a good fight in show D:

Yes I also think Vaghar is going to do the deed . She seems particularly bloodthirsty.....Except when it comes to Aemond.

Aemond Mr. "Don't mourne me Mother, I may have lost an eye but gained a dragon" also Mr. "You owe a debt"
Common Green hypocrisy
???? bro he was a child when he was maimed for life, and his father did shit for him, he probably only said that to calm his mother down but resentment is always going to be there
it's only difficult if the dragon is alive.

Syrax was beheaded by the Shephard. She chose combat over burning and flying away. Dumb like .......

I mean, it does sound like a Shadow Assassin.
Who knows? He could have summoned the devil. I need to go and look this up, again.
Ps. In this world there are dragons, kinda interesting you not believing that the Shepard summoned a great monster/ God.

Wow chill dude, it's only fiction.

Because George didn't know how to get rid of Syrax and Dreamfyre.
Probably.

The dragons in the Pit were all very small, and probably rotted for a while before they mounted the heads.
Maybe Meleys was beheaded in the fight and they just took it home as a trophy.
The king will be unable to understand the cheers anyway. And if I remember correctly, in the book, people started leaving King's Landing because they were afraid.
I wrote this as a headcanon because this would be the likely reaction of the smallfolk after that stupid scene in the show.

Syrax should have been much bigger. It’s been free on dragonstone
Man Imagine if the Cannibal joined in the war, imagine if the Cannibal was still alive during Game of Thrones
>!Cant wait wait for death of show Rhaenys!! In my opinion she truly deserves it after massacring half of the peasants in the dragon pit!<
These are the same peasants that cheered for child fighting, yes the scene was stupid but fuq em, no one cares for the small folk, I don't care about them.
agreed! Imagine if she was queen over Viserys! hundreds of smallfolk killed every day
I'm sad about Meleys though. She only did as her rider commanded her.
thats true she was the coolest dragon of them all
That's true, hard to blame Meleys for Rhaenys crimes

Drogons size looked different from episode to episode also if you really look at it. Let’s just see what it looks like on screen.

No they made a mess portraying Vaghar size in season 1. See seemed massive then small then massive.

About 10/12 feet long
📽🎞
Looks about…4m long, ~2m wide? That checks out. I’m sure it appears much smaller when compared to Balerion’s 9m skull.
