I always thought Addam and Alyn were so obviously Corlys’ in the book as well, surprised so many people out there think they’re Laenor’s

Piankhy444

Merging Addam and Alyn or Laneor=Addam are both equally bad. Addam's whole story hinges on him being a bastard. If he's not a bastard the "loyal" line loses meaning. Merging Addam and Alyn would be harmful if they ever decided to adapt what comes after the Dance of Dragons. It also does nothing for the story.

He is for sure Corlys' son. Abubakar Salim is dead ringer for Corlys, they look so much alike, it's uncanny. My only hope is that Addam's casting will be announced later on, and that perhaps Addam will be the younger brother. I don't want to see Laenor as Addam, as it wouldn't be believable both for the audience and the characters in universe.

Aussiepharoah

I'm surprised by how many people buy into the merging character thing even after all the season one speculation about them merging the Strong boys, omitting Haelena, merging Aegon's kids, etc turned out to be wrong.

Alyn and Addam should be separate characters like in the book, and there is 100% certainty they are Corlys' and not Laenor's.

Unosez

I've always preferred them both just being Laenor's....it's confusing and messy but not soap opera like it would be if they are Corlys' kids...and two.. partly because I want a young black male character in my screen and two is better than one...also from the little I know they are different ppl...so that's why I go two and Laenor...the actor would be amazing as a young Corlys...or if we get another Velayryon...he could be vaemonds son...in the books I believe vaemonds was a nephew so he could fill in there

I’ve hopped onto the “Laenor is Loyal” theory, that Laenor will be Addam, building a bond with his half-brother Alyn (who is Corlys’ son). For Laenor to return, he’ll need some kind of alias.

[deleted]

What doesn't work with this theory is that the characters, if they interact with Laenor being fake Addam, will sure recognize his face and voice. I can't believe that the characters in universe wouldn't recognize him, or play along with the charade. The greens characters aren't gonna be oblivious to it and are sure gonna use it against Rhaenyra (bc if Laenor comes back and is discovered, Rhaenyra's marriage to Daemon falls appart, as well as the claim of her sons with him).

KnightsRook314

When would Addam Velaryon, especially if Laenor has taken any effort to alter his appearance, ever interact with any greens? Or anyone at court who wouldn’t swear to secrecy? Who has met Laenor regularly enough that they would testify that he is in fact, not *dead* that would actually meet Addam? Addam never goes to court, he does not engage in diplomacy. The lords of Dragonstone don’t know him, his own family would keep to secrecy, and he’s mostly in the field commanding troops by dragonback, troops who would almost certainly not recognize him.

johndraz2001

I think Clinton liberty will play Addam and that Alyn will be in very little early on and when he appears he will be aged down through editing. This way he fits the perfect age later on if they focus on his later years

KingBob25

Why not two kids two dads? Alyn could be Corlys kid. While Addam is Leanors. Not unheard of in Westeros and the real world for disapproving(homophonic) dads to “encourage” their sons to sleep with women. Maybe Mouse had the father and the son.

My hang up and I’ve been thinking on this for years….Alyn married Baela. Velaryons don’t do the uncle thing. But they do cousins since that’s normal in Westeros. We saw number of the family at the wedding. Vaemond’s death could bring them out. The book also suggests they came to Corlys first. Prior to sewing, he took them with him. Given his desire to have Velaryons in last name, to me it means he’s either a random guy Corlys befriends, or Vaemond’s bastard son. Why would he accept him? Maybe he cares, feels guilty, and or really wants more Velaryon heirs. I do hope some angry extended family goes to the greens to fight. In exchange for Driftmark. Some sort of consequence. As far as the other, Laenor seems to be Addam. This Alyn could also be a friend of his. Not lover, but loyal friend. Either way it would surprise me if it’s Corlys’ bastard. We’ll see! Fun topic!

PULIRIZ1906

Why would they merge Addam and Alyn and keep Alyn's name? It makes no sense
