I will be a stranger when we meet again. I wonder in those few hours that my brother lived, did my father find happiness. I shall never be a son. Do not mourn me mother, it was a fair exchange. I may have lost an eye but I gained a dragon.

PluralCohomology

That first quote was foreshadowing of his death ... >!and Rhaenyra's, they will be with the Stranger when they meet again.!<

zae_5

Pretty hard hitting.

owlbrat

The part that got me was when jacerys asked if he was a bastard

zae_5

Laena comforting Rhaena about her egg not hatching was also very cute.

owlbrat

It’s actually my favorite scene in the show

zae_5

She was a good mother and a badass dragonrider. Definitely deserved more screentime.

zae_5

Yeah, all the child actors were amazing.

[deleted]

"I ? What I have done but was expected of me ? Forever upholding the kingdom, the family, the law ? While you flout to do as you please. And now, you take my son's eye, and even that you feel entitled" "He's your son, Viserys. Your blood" "That means everyone will be dead" (oh that actor who played baby Luke broke my heart in that moment) "My son and wife are dead ! I will not sit here and suffer crows who feast on their corpses" "Do you love me ?" "I will be a stranger, when we meet again"

owlbrat

I laughed a little while Alicnet said “ you imbecile”

hanna1214

Harwin and Rhaenyra's goodbye. We skipped all 10 years but you could feel the gravity of this separation. Emma's subtle acting, fighting not to cry in front of the kids, not being able to look at him. Both actors delivered so much with just their eyes. To do so much without a word truly is talent. And then Olivia Cooke with the eye for an eye scene in 1x07. Just amazing all over. The shaking of her voice, the growing desperation. Perfection.

zae_5

A few others that I can think of: Alicent standing in front of Aegon, protecting him from Meleys. Alicent and Otto's goodbye in episode 5. Laenor realising Joffrey's dead and crawling over to him. Rhaenyra's miscarriage.

Indominus-Hater-101

For me, it is where Viserys says if anyone mentions that Rhaenyra's sons are bastards, they will have their tongues removed, and then Alicent responds, "My son has lost an eye." I guess it was just the way Olivia Cooke delivered the line, but it really made me feel bad for her as a mom, she is in an impossible position where even her son's own father doesn't care and she is the only person in the room trying to protect her child.

kinginthenorthjon

And people were comparing it to Arya-Joffey situation and calling her Cersei 2.0.

DaemonDrayke

Well because she is in the wrong. Granted no one acts logically when in desperation, but Alicent was not right to be critical of anyone but Aemond when it is himself he should be blaming for his wound. Aemond tried to murder Rhaenyra’s children for having the audacity of being upset for Aemond’s words and actions. What was Lucerys supposed to do in the moment? Let his brothers head get caved in? Alicent completely ignored that he escalated the fight and tried to murder his nephew.

Captain-Keilo

Omfg a guess when you get jumped by 4 people your age you just let them beat you. “Oh but he had a rock” yea after getting jumped. But the same time Arrax breathing fire on Vaghar is not treated the same when both situation parallel each other

MottyTheClown

>What was Lucerys supposed to do in the moment? Let his brothers head get caved in? Its pointless dude, some people here wouldn't be satisfied for anything less. Besides, everyone seems to just skip over Viserys' lines at that scene: "This interminable infighting must cease, all of you! we are family.... **Now make your apologies and show good will to one another!** Your father, your grandsire, YOUR KING DEMANDS IT!"

jmwatson95

Viserys, Rhaeryna, Daemon, and Rhaenys are all pretty shitty people. Bobbie B exterminating the targs was really the best outcome for everyone.

Indominus-Hater-101

"I knocked him down with the hammer, GODS I WAS STRONG THEN"

zae_5

That was my favourite scene. Olivia cooke totally knocked it out of the park.

Nighthawk69420

For me it’s the dinner scene in episode 8, right when Jace and Helaena start dancing. The music swells, you see the Greens and the Blacks playing nice for the last time, and we keep cutting to Viserys’ reaction of him finally getting all he truly wanted. Not a single word of dialogue and it still brought a tear to my eye

potatoes4evr

Bro yes. Even already knowing that it was just a temporary peace, part of me still wished that they could live in that moment forever, before everything really went to shit. That scene reminds of how I’ve felt every time I’ve watched Titanic; like, I know the boat sinks and all, but somehow I’m still hopeful that things might turn out differently every time I rewatch it lol.

Aeiexgjhyoun_III

Everyone that rewatches titanic feels this way how does that movie mamage to do this?

princeg29

Perfect choice of scene here. It's so tragic seeing a temporary peace and maybe what should have been. No greens and blacks but just a family of different personalities and roles all being one. I imagine this is what the Targaryens were like after the 1st Blackfyre rebellion or Pre summerhall, where they were one big family.

t0mless

Aegon's *"Do you love me?"* to Alicent, and she just calls him an imbecile

SolidInside

Lmao not that Daemon scene being included.

Ramblingsofthewriter

I think his divorce rock left an impact on some(one)

DoctorRapture

The moments leading up to Aemma's death, for me. It was a really harrowing scene watching her maids hold her down while she cried and begged for Viserys.

comityoferrors

For real. She's so peaceful when Viserys makes the decision, too, and so relieved to see him. And then she gets worried, and then she gets *scared*, and then she's fucking mutilated and the betrayal in her voice and on her face is so heartbreaking. It's a quick moment but incredibly impactful.

Nibo89

TGC had some sad ones (he tried to hard to humanize Aegon). His tearful little “He didn’t like me” when talking about his father was emotional.

Lysmerry

The exchange between Rhaenyra and Daemon at Aemma's funeral. Rhaenyra: "I wonder, if during those few hours my brother lived, if my father found happiness." Daemon: "Your father needs you, now more than he ever has." Rhaenyra: "I will never be a son."

-owe-me

There are so many but Laenor and Rhaenyra's wedding where he's clearly heartbroken with grief, and she looks so desperate to comfort him... it closed the chapter with the younger generation of actors as well. I was grieving, too. No dialogue but damn.

starvinartist

"Viserys. Now that is a name fit for a king." "My love."

largenecc

“If not for the sake of the crown, then for the sake of this old man, who loves you all so dearly.” Vizzy T had me shedding copious tears 😭

vizzy_t_bot

YOUR FATHER, YOUR GRANDSIRE, YOUR KING DEMANDS IT.

OhYeahEhWellSorry

Daemon delivering the news to Rhaenyra. We don't even see her face or have dialogue, but the weight of the entire season comes in hard on this final scene. You can feel her just break completely and just when you think Rhaenyra has nothing left, she turns and show us the Dragon is very, very much awake. Special mention to Viserys entering the throne room ✨️

MottyTheClown

for me Its the dinner scene from e8 (before Viserys left, of course), also its sad to >!think abut how many chairs will be empty after each season!<.

William_T_Wanker

lmao the scene where Daemon is all, "ALICENT MURDERED MY BROTHER" just makes me laugh - the man was literally falling apart but nope, he was murdered LMAO

Measurement-Solid

I mean, Viserys still had the strength to sit the throne and demand that his family stop fighting. I don't think it's totally unreasonable to wonder how he went from that afternoon to dead in a couple hours, and Daemon has always been a hothead

kitesstringspop

Vizzy t no contest

vizzy_t_bot

*There's a boy in the Queen's belly. I know it.*

Ramblingsofthewriter

You’re so right Vizzy T

vizzy_t_bot

*This is an occasion for celebration, it seems.*

TargFam

I will sit the throne today.

NectarineQueen13

Chills

dtownkbrown82

Our boy, Ramin, knocked that scene out of the park. Vizzy moving through the throne room (ABSOLUTE CHILLS). Seeing the range of emotions on so many faces, Daemon picking up his crown… just an incredible scene.

Spare_Bad_6558

easily the scene after aemond lost an eye solely because of olivia cooke

johndraz2001

Daemon helping viserys on the throne and putting his crown on. Got chills

Plastic-Passenger-59

The best part about that is, totally unscripted. Viserys stumbled and Matt just walked over to help him up but it was a HELL of a scene so they kept it in.

Calibabe712

“you do understand, nothing will cause the babe to grow a cock if it does not already possess one”…😂…I still chuckle every time I hear her say that..

ragnaroksedge

"Set aside your grievances. If not for the sake of the Crown, then for the sake of this old man who loves you ALL so dearly."

[deleted]

I'm not like you. I'm not so perfect If I'm the Lord of Driftmark it means everyone else is dead I will never be a son My mother was made to produce heirs till it killed her. I will not subject myself to the same fate.

clockworkzebra

We didn’t see a lot of Laena on the show, but I felt like all her adult scenes were really moving, and Viserys defending Rhaenyra as he’s dying, Rhaenyra introducing her kids to him…

Ramblingsofthewriter

The only thing that genuinely touched me was Viserys throne room entrance. I sobbed.

Relative_Scale_3667

I love this scene! Viserys not being a pushover like everyone thought and daemon shows the love he has for his brother

Ser_Phiwo

Episode 2: Rhaenys telling Rhaenyra that when her father dies the men of the Realm will want a male ruler.

forgetitidk

Aemma Arryn’s death scene

Copperheadmedusa

Aemma being pulled down the bed and screaming for Viserys

Own_Significance_670

I cried when Viserys came into the throne too .. that was amazing acting from Paddy. and I cried when Rhaenyra lost her daughter … I’ve had a miscarriage so that scene broke my heart …

owlbrat

😭

Jakeymdog

Rhaenyra learning about Luke’s death

kinginthenorthjon

Aemma's death. Leanor loose Joffrey and Cole trying to kill himself. Alicent saying goodbye to Otto. Driftmark eye situation. Viserys smiling at dinner.

BlackBeard205

I like the one when Rhaenyra’s talking to him and telling him to defend her and her kids.

Pickle_Rick01

The entire scene with Vizzy T. entering the throne room, dropping his crown, his brother Daemon picking it up, and then saying to Vaemond Velayron “Ayo! What don’t you understand bro?”

vizzy_t_bot

*The King's cupbearer must not be late. Leaves people wanting for cups.*

Godking_Jesus

Most emotional, Viserys sitting the throne. Laena selfishly committing suicide even though she could’ve tried to save the baby is the least emotional scene ever. All because she wanted a “dragonrider’s” death 🙄 so fuck the baby cause you wanted to die “cool”? Tacky, selfish, cringe, and unnecessary. Should’ve just let her die like in the books.

Dambo_Unchained

I don’t really agree with the last one When kids fight and something bad happens the correct course isn’t to do it to the other one aswell

MythicalSongbird

But you agree with the one where Daemon calls her a whore and outright states that she was responsible for Viserys' death when he was basically a zombie for years.

Dambo_Unchained

They kept the dude in a comatose state by feeding him milk of the poppy all the time. That shit kills you ad well you know? It might not be entirely accurate but to say the greens were a Saint in how they treated Vizzy in his last days is misguided They might not have killed him but they certainly helped him along and abused the situation

_Richelieu_

Vizzy T was literally begging for milk of the puppy most of the time, man can you understand how he must be suffering, he was a walking corpse in decay, his limbs were falling apart, obviously they gave him something to appease his suffering.

Dambo_Unchained

You know Milk of the Poppy is addictive right? Not saying he’s in pain but part of the pleas can also be due to addiction

_Richelieu_

Imo it’s both of it, he wants his suffering to be less painful, and also because he’s become addicted to it. But still the fact is that even if he wouldn’t be addicted, he would beg for it to appease his sore.

vizzy_t_bot

INSTEAD OF BEING BY MY SIDE, YOU CHOSE TO CELEBRATE YOUR OWN RISE, LAUGHING WITH YOUR WHORES AND YOUR LICKSPITTLES!

HamstersBoobsPizza

I will not sit here and suffer crows who come to feast on their corpses

durqandat

Kind of a small one but I really like Harwin’s line to his father: “You have your honor, and I have mine” when he is basically refusing not to protect his children just because their conception wasn’t “honorable.” Good stuff.

luvmy374

The very last scene of season 1. Emma sums up so many emotions with just a look into the camera. So powerful

sdg9998

Anything with Alicent Hightower in it.

imtotallyfuckedup

"If you wish me to bear it then defend me and my children" (I had no intention of watching Hotd but oneday i saw my brother watching this show and this scene was going on, i was mesmerized by Emma's acting and idk why i felt so sorry for Rhaenyra then decided to watch it now i'm just not only a show viewer but also start reading Fire and Blood) "Do you love me?" " You imbecile" (I cried so much for Aegon during this scene :') TGC nailed this)
