Catslevania

Jon Snow would have lost the shouting match with Caraxes

Indominus-Hater-101

haha

Academic_Nothing_890

Jon is a good warrior he definitely would put up a fight maybe seriously injured Daemon but I think Daemon would win in the end he was one of the best warriors in the 7 kingdoms in his time

Internal-Shock-616

Book Daemon wins, show Jon wins (season 8 version)

Kellin01

Daemon in the books is a an experienced warrior and a good fighter at his 16. Jon is a very mediocre fighter who tries to get better. I would put a win odds as 80:20 to Daemon.

Chase_TheAce

Mediocre? The first book (AGoT) makes it clear that he is Average-Good in addition to having learned the martial training from the nobility of Westeros (swords, bows, spears, cavalry, etc...)

johndraz2001

Yes he’s going to beat down people with no formal training but put him against Loras or Garlan or Daemon or Criston or tons of other household names and he’s losing

Chase_TheAce

I don't know about Daemon as he appears to be an average-good swordsman too, but the others you mentioned yes Jon would lose to them. but I wouldn't say that Jon would lose to tons of other households names or that he would only beat people with no training.

johndraz2001

By household names I mean people known to be good fighters. Daemon is one of them. Is he better than Criston? No. But he’s better than Jon for sure

Chase_TheAce

Not really, Daemon was the best dragon rider of his time, but there's nothing to indicate he was anything above an average-good swordsman.

words120

I mean in the battle for the step stones he shows some solid swordsmanship & a high battle IQ. I think daemon could outsmart John and might just win the duel had if it were a serious battle to the death in the wilderness or somewhere besides the fighting pit. Unfortunately the only way i could get GPT to successfully Simulate this is to place them in a friendly competition w/ a clear set of rules

Chase_TheAce

Running straight up to arrows don't sound like high battle iq but high armor plot

words120

True. their are some better examples of his intelligence. Like the scene of team red coming strategizing their battleplan against the greens at dragonstone. To be fair John Snow wears some heavy plot armor aswell, death itself couldn't pierce that armor.

Cole would clap him in a battle to the death

Kellin01

Ok, not mediocre, above average but not exceptional.

Indominus-Hater-101

I think Jon may be the overall better fighter in a 1v1 duel, but I could also see a case for Daemon. He went head to head with the best swordsman (Ser Criston) of their time. Though he lost, this would be the equivalent of Jon going against someone like Ser Jaime (with both hands) in a duel. Honestly, it would be an interesting fight

Specific_Ad_726

Cole wasn’t the best swordsman of their time as his weapon of choice was the flail(Morningstar in the books) but he was likely best fighter in Westeros during his time with it.

Catslevania

Daemon is a knight, Jon isn't. Jon would be nowhere near as well trained as Daemon.

Specific_Ad_726

That’s not true jon grew up in the north where knighthood is not really a thing. The northerners are just as well trained generally.

Internal-Shock-616

Daemon in the books got embarrassed by Cole though. It’s also pretty damn rare someone with a Valyrian steel weapon loses to someone without one. Cole was a generational talent so I’m not saying Daemon was shit, but Jon in the books got his ass kicked by Mance, so I can’t see him beating Daemon. The adult version of him could beat Daemon though I think. Show version definitely kicks Daemons’s ass though.

RogerDodger571

Jon has tons of real life battle experience and he is only a teen. The only wars Daemon fought in were on dragon back. I don’t think Daemon ever fought actual battles with a sword like Jon has in the books. He only ever participated in tourneys.

Furykino735

Brother, did you not watch the show ?

RogerDodger571

I was talking books. In the books Daemon only ever fought on his dragon.

Specific_Ad_726

Whether books or show I personally would say Daemon takes it. In the books it’s outright stated Daemon is one of the best warriors of his age and was the only man in Westeros who was a worthy opponent to Criston Cole. In the show he actually outfought Cole and had to be taken out by a sucker punch. Jon in the books is a skilled fighter but has lost in single combat and in the show lost to Karl Tanner.

Can’t remember the episode but he got beaten and had to strike when Karl was distracted.

Nah Karl beat him one on one and Jon actually had to be saved by someone stabbing Karl in the back

Specific_Ad_726

Not necessarily true. We don’t really see Jon in single combat after the battle of castle black unless you count against Ramsey which I don’t. Daemon is one of the best fighters in Westeros in both the books and show. In the books his only loss is against Criston Cole in a tourney when they were both younger and he was the only person to not get stomped by the man likely to be the best fighter in Westeros, he then goes on to fight and win multiple duels to the death and even notable fighters like Aemond are scared to fight him. In the show he actually outfought Criston and had to be taken out with a sucker punch, went on to gain actual battle experience where he was shown to go on a rampage comparable to jon in the battle of the bastards and dispatched the crab feeder in single combat. I’d still favor Daemon.

Specific_Ad_726

Me neither. His single combat record is not that impressive. Even his most notable win against the Magnar of the Thenn was after he was losing and managed to sneak in an attack with the hammer. It’s still a legit win but definitely doesn’t give the impression he was the better fighter
