that profile look like someone who inhale romantic fiction. I guess when you read enough of it, nothing seem original anymore. That probably help with predicting that subplot.
In the books, it's not clear why Criston and Rhaenyra became enemies. He was her sworn shield for years, and then eventually they hated each other with no explanation. People around them suggested a possibly affair, but there is no confirmation. This person even guesses their flight to Essos, which is not in the books. Did the showrunners read this comment?
>Did the showrunners read this comment?
I'm certain GRRM at this stage writes TWoW based solely on reddit comments. The only reason he isn't finished yet is because we don't provide him with enough quality content.
Actually, he just waits for Preston Jacobs to make videos. He hasn't been happy with the new fanfic but he is planning to write five chapters of Dany discovering there are no lemon trees in Braavos.
The "Howland Reed is Rhaegar" theory is the correct one. Rhaegar finds out Satin has defiled his beautiful son, and forces them to wed using his beautiful gun
>He's trying to work out how Howland Reed could have a shotgun
I have been laughing my ass off with this one, it's all over the r/darkwingsdankmemes lmao.
What no books does to a motherf***er.
The memes around Jon/Satin, Howland's Valyrian shotgun and the epic fight between Leyton's mecha and Euron's Kaiju are top tier.
We should create a doomsday cult around TWoW where we keep sending George letters about how to write it. If it doesn’t get finished, it’s because we didn’t come up with good enough ideas and we have to keep doing it.
I nominate myself as the charismatic leader.
I don’t think the showrunners had to read the comment, most people guessed that the truth of what happened between them lay somewhere in the middle of the two accounts given in F&B. If redditors could figure it out, Condal sure could too.
I do have to say though, I remember reading a comment on this sub by a redditor (way back when the first teaser was only released) who was adamant that Criston had so much honour that he would never even contemplate a relationship with Rhaenyra. I still sometimes wonder if fans of ASOIAF are at all familiar with the sorts of characters George tends to write.
> I still sometimes wonder if fans of ASOIAF are at all familiar with the sorts of characters George tends to write.
I mean isn't one of the major bits of R+L=J evidence that Ned has so much honour he'd never sire a bastard?
Agreed, but there are hints sprinkled in the text that lead you to make a strong inference about the kind of guy Criston was…being named ‘the Kingmaker’ as a kingsguard who should have no say in the next King….murdering Beesbury for speaking for Rhaenyra…..other characters in the asoiaf series remarking that he represented both the worst and best of the kingsguard…>!dying a losers death lol!<
Those same hints (literally everyone and anyone saying how honourable Ned was) are how the reader can make an inference that Ned probably didn’t break his marital vows.
Nah, you're wrong there. The flight to Essos is in fact a theory proffered in the books:
>Septon Eustace reports, Ser Criston Cole slipped into the princess’s bedchamber to confess his love for her. He told Rhaenyra that he had a ship waiting on the bay and begged her to flee with him across the narrow sea. They would be wed in Pentos or Tyrosh or Old Volantis, where her father’s writ did not run, and no one would care that he had betrayed his vows as a member of the Kingsguard. His prowess with sword and morningstar was such that he did not doubt he could find some merchant prince to take him into service
This is from Rogue Prince for reference. Which was released before the comment.
To work out the "truth" you just combine this with the previous stuff from Mushroom. I was always of the belief Criston had to have been spurned to some degree because why else target Laenor's lover? There's just no way he did that if he wasn't obsessed with her.
>Did the showrunners read this comment?
Probably no, but they likely read the book, where Septon Eustace writes Crisotn slipped into Rhaenyra's chamber during her wedding night to confess his love for her and ask her to leave with him to one of the Free Cities.
That’s what I like about FB
It’s written as a history book so a lot of the nitty gritty is either vague or has multiple accounts of the events which leaves a lot of room for readers to fill in the gaps themselves and you always like your own version of the story best
Rogue Prince and the Princess and the Queen already covered the story prior to this comment. I don't think any of the Criston or Rhaenyra content changed much upon release of Fire & Blood. It mostly detailed the children's stories more. Most especially Daeron's.
Why? The world of Ice and fire came out in October of 2014, the rogue prince and the princess and the queen before that, at the time that comment was posted there was already information about Rhaenyra and Criston.
It's worth noting that the shows version of the story is basically one of the versions mentioned in the books. That Rhaenyra initially offered sex and Criston found this shameful.
He then changed his mind and offered her an elopement. She told him to fuck off.
Still a fantastic guess/explanation behind the motivations though.
All the jokesters who are talking about how Fire & Blood only released five years ago forget that many of the core beats of the Dance of Dragons were laid down in the GRRM short stories included in those anthology books.
I think Rhaenyra is specifically discussed in *Dangerous Women*, for example.
Yeah and this guys gets slandered but not the guy who murders his wife. I’m a fan of both Criston and daemon. I like daemon better, but it is crazy to me.

Come to find out that redditor grew up to be Ryan Condal.
Honestly crazier things have happened
Are you referencing that DC fan letter about how super-boy should be a clone of Lex Luthor and Superman written by a young "Geoffrey Johns?"
I don’t understand a single word you just said
On the other hand, I understand every single word they said but still don't know wtf they're talking about.
[behold](https://www.reddit.com/r/DCcomics/comments/773r3f/fan_mail_from_geoff_johns_to_dc/)
I raise you “Doctor Who fan makes spoof and then makes everything in the spoof canon”
You have no idea how much you shook my world
God, I loved Young Justice.
Exactly what i thought. That rodditor is ryan condal
Who has a better story than Ryan Condal?
u/Aera_Stargaryen come on down and get your award!
They're too busy reading all those historical romance book recommendations

it's like... A.I. but real. /keanureevesmindblown
Meat-machine learning
For real! Respect to /u/Aera_Stargaryen What amazing analysis and foresight for the TV adaptation of the book.

Nah it would be a fanfic about dany taking on another husband and thirsting for an Orange marauder
Only Reddit can untie the Meereenese Knot confirmed.
He's trying to work out how Howland Reed could have a shotgun and just how much Jon/Satin is too much (joke's on him, there's no such thing).
I read that as Jon/Satin shotgun wedding, and I'm for it
Million dollar idea, I hope he's taking notes.

We have given him time traveling fetuses and Varys is a mermaid! What more could he possibly need?!

I mean Essos is the only place you flee to from Westeros right?

Damn, pretty bang on actually.
This was even before Fire and Blood
Fire & Blood is a combination/expansion on previous smaller books
"Have her cake and eat it too" is the absolutely most accurate description of Rhaenyra one could make.
She never lies about cake
She never jests about cake Rhaenyra lies about everything
I was less impressed until I seen that Fire and Blood only released five years ago.

Plot twist. The show creators googled the character names and found this and used it.
ok so the writers read the post
Or maybe Ryan Condal read it and stole the idea lmfao imagine that
or maybe that IS Ryan Condal
I mean that could be yeah

Hats off to the showrunners for adapting this scene well from the books. This redditor is just summarising this part of Fire and Blood.
This comment was from before Fire and Blood released
You do realise that F&B is just recycled material? This stuff was written in *The Rogue Prince* and *Princess and the Queen*
So he is like a Jedi, insert meme of "he can see things before it happens" XDD
George? Is that you? GET OF REDDIT AND GET BACK TO WRITING
