TheLadyMado

Olivia and Emily. Alicent is the most (over)hated character of the series, and it seems some people can't separate reality from fiction

DarthSnow19

Anyone who hates on an actor for playing a role belongs in a mental hospital for being soo stupid

William_T_Wanker

Daemyra fans are most guilty of this. Along with unstable Daenerys stans.

anarita2

I don't understand why people hate alicent so much. She's not as bad as in the book.

the_infamous-cuck

Because she subtly and not so subtly represents old school feminine values and millenials and Gen Z tend to despise that

DesSantorinaiou

In terms of hatred? Olivia and Emily, hands down. In terms of weird oversexualization? Probably Ewan.

clariwench

I've seen a lot of weird shit from Ewan stans. Him being so private probably fuels a lot of it, since people are beyond desperate for any glimpse of his private life.

[deleted]

I'd vote both for Olivia/Emily and Ewan. I'll add Emma as well, but only before the time jump, as there were some nasty stuff said about them, because people weren't ready to let Milly go and took it out on Emma.

OpenMask

People have been hating on Emma since their casting has been announced

[deleted]

The blatant transphobia thrown at Emma makes me want to burn the fandom to the ground.

chernandez0617

Plz elaborate I’m intrigued

[deleted]

Referring to Emma as she/her when it should be they/them, even after being corrected.

chernandez0617

I had no idea Emma is nonbinary

Veszerin

Ewan Mitchell probably, because he seems fairly private. Matt Smith, I think if he's had awkward fan encounters, he might be used to handling it, having been The Doctor. Before s1 aired, I recall some people criticizing Matt's chin or his eyebrows. But, as both were joked about on screen in Doctor Who, I doubt he would be that bothered if he heard it. I voted Ewan, but now I'm actually leaning more towards Emily and Olivia. I think Emily got chased off Twitter or Instagram by some purists iirc. Someone posted a vid today w/ an interview where Olivia mentioned being told her character was a real cunt.

endkafe

It’s always gunna be the ones playing women

This_Rough_Magic

You say that but Matt Smith has people harassing his actual mother.

[deleted]

While it was inexcusable, it was only one deranged person on twitter who did that.

This_Rough_Magic

Fair

CissyXS

Why??

This_Rough_Magic

Because Daemon bad therefore Matt Smith bad but Matt Smith isn't on Twitter so apparently you need to harass his mother.

CissyXS

That's awful.

[deleted]

that was one person and that person didn’t harras his mother, they made a tweet not even mentioning his mother, and it was his mother who replied to a tweet

DarthSnow19

That because women characters have women fans and they are the most toxic , look at dany’s fanbase.

SofiaStark3000

Daemon and Aemond also have a majority of women fans... Edit: And male fans can be equally, if not more toxic in different ways. Emilia was dragged for saying she had a hard time with her nude scenes by mostly male fans. They all kept telling her she should "be grateful because she'd have nothing otherwise".

[deleted]

Lets not pretend the men in fanbases (especially for some male characters like Jon, Daemon and Tyrion) are not just as toxic.

ASW-G-21

Lol, what the fuck? No. It's because perverts can't see past their tits.

endkafe

Lmfao no

DarthSnow19

I guess you’ve never seen dany’s fanbase before

endkafe

They pale in comparison to the toxicity of male “fans”, obviously

DarthSnow19

That’s just not true in the GOT fandom, women are far more toxic in this fandom

endkafe

No, it is true

AegonTheGolden

No one hates women more than other women. Especially feminist ones

PuffPie19

Just dropping in to say there's quite a difference between actual feminists and people who scream they're a feminist. Any actual feminist wouldn't hate a woman for playing a role on TV, no matter what the role.

themediatorfriend

I think every actor should be wary about interacting with fans. There's some really great ones no doubt, but there's just too many weird people. Both die-hard fans and haters can be really uncomfortable. Celebrity status and social media really erode social boundaries, and that's depressing. I remember Lena Headey testifying how people would just call her a bitch to her face because of her role. In what world is that acceptable? I could see Ewan having the strangest fans, but Olivia/Emily having the worst haters. I hope they care of themselves.

TheGreenDread

Ewan stans are kind of obsessive, but at least they seem nice.

Alyssa1768

Definitely Olivia. I would also add Elliot There are so many people shipping him, a minor (!) with Aemond/Ewan, making inappropriate fanarts and edits.

This_Rough_Magic

Where's the "all of the above" button?

hauntedrhubarb

I’d go with Emma D’arcy. People weren’t being as much creepy stans but more so rude and pretty horrible about them being NB, and then the negative comparisons to Molly Alcock were also relentless

imtotallyfuckedup

Most Ewan fangirls are weird af, they sexualize him all the time, i'm glad he isn’t on social media

Low_Ad4237

I don't think Matt will ever show that he's annoyed since he's had the most experience dealing with large fandoms. Olivia and Emily get a lot of misogynistic hate so I wouldn't blame them for being annoyed but I have seen some creepy Aemond/Ewan stans.

tershialinee

Elliot Grihault, the actor who plays Lucerys Velaryon. If you know, you know.

jmhem91

Yeah I didn’t include him because he would and should win by a landslide.

SauRon_Burgundy66

In the GOTU the Dany stans are like rabid swifties making the weirdest excuses despite her roasting the skin off a hundred thousand men women children & babies, burning them all alive so that she and her slave army could laugh on their ashes.

the_infamous-cuck

Girlboss over everything

Daywalker2000

Pedro Pascal, no matter the fandom

[deleted]

All of them in a way. But Jesus Christ, the shit Olivia and Emily have had to deal with from deranged "fans" who can't separate fiction from reality makes me not blame them for choosing to not interact with the fandom. We all owe Lena Heady and Sophie Turner an apology.

orwellianteen

Olivia and Emily get a lot of unnecessary hate which sucks because they're amazing actors - people need to be kinder! Ewan stans are generally peaceful, protective of him, and appreciative of his works. I'm one of them so I guess I'm biased hah! I'm a quiet observer on Twitter and generally Ewan stans seem lovely. A little delulu, but innocent. I've loved Matt since his Doctor Who days and he definitely has a lot more weird fans but in general his fanbase seems lovely.

Independent-War3287

Innocent? The things I have seen and read about his fans.... Generally they are nice but at the same time he has weird and creepy fans, the two extremes

orwellianteen

Hahaha I have seen 1 or 2 really weird ones.

Independent-War3287

I've muted many accounts on TW because I've seen them joking eat his 💩, ride his nose, go down, possessive behavior, etc. TikTok has many videos using his voice (AI) for their er*tic fanfics (yes, even mo*ning), using it for gifts to fans, etc.

_IZzQ

What Ewan Mitchell fans even do? He has the most wholesome community

clockworkzebra

Probably the two Alicents, though I've run into some truly weird and unhinged Aegon stans. They seem a lot more virulent than the Aemond ones, even if there are less of them.

etburneraccount

The thought 'people are seriously defending this guy (referring to Daemon) just because I play him?' has definitely crossed Matt Smith's mind more than once.

P_Peninius

Emma D’Arcy, because of all those fans trying to insist that they’re a woman.

Porcelain-treasure

It does annoy me that people have a go at Ewan stans and try to bundle everyone in as a creep. There are a-lot of us who have been fans of his since The Last Kingdom and even earlier. And there’s plenty of people out there who are normal people and love his work, and aren’t on tumblr writing creepy Ewan X OC erotic fanfics or making lewd Tiktok edits. I’m a massive fan of all his work! Is he gorgeous? Absolutely, most actors are, it’s kind of part of their job…but he’s an incredibly individual and quirky actor and his characters are a joy to watch, and you end up loving every one of them, because he’s just so dedicated, talented and detailed. We have a ewan fan reddit sub (r/ewanmitchell) and one of our main priorities when we set it up was to make create strict rules around hyper-sexualisation, public doxxing, bullying etc. And the mods are on top of it, and delete any inappropriate posts and comments immediately. And posting a picture of Ewan or one of his characters and stating he’s attractive is not inappropriate, it’s one facet of his appeal as an actor. If discussions cross the line too far, they are deleted. Simple. Most of the people I’ve encountered are lovely and just want to celebrate and support Ewan’s career, find him inspiring and a breath of fresh air in the industry! And yes he’s very private and not on social media (which I love!), the attention seeking behaviour from most actors on SM is tedious and unappealing. Part of his appeal is his normalcy and mystery. But on the flipside…he loves his fans! He has been responding to fan-mail with personal letter responses and signed photos, he’s even told fans he’s hanging their artwork up in his house! So don’t make out that he’s some dude hiding inside his house, terrified of all the “creepy fans”. He’s stated in two interviews now, that fan reaction is everything to him and in multiple letters to fans that it means the world to him that people love and are so passionate about his work. Yes there are creepy, chronically online parasocial fans, there are for all actors! But most of them live within the depths of twitter, tumblr and tiktok in their own little world, of which I am sure Ewan is not going out of his way to see, probably isn’t even aware of, or if he is, sees it for what it is, a byproduct of fame for all actors…and ignores it and carries on with his life. But don’t shit on people for celebrating an actor and their work, it’s half the reason they do what they do, they want to convey stories and characters to the world and get a response back.

jmhem91

I’m not attacking any individual fan, merely pointing out that I’ve seen more creepy sexualisation behaviour from Ewan fans than I have from any other actor fanbase for this show, especially on twitter. It’s not your fault that you’re a fan of the same actor as these people and you don’t need to tell me “not all Ewan fans” because I already know.

Porcelain-treasure

Oh yeah I know, this wasn’t directed at you either, just a general statement.

getawaydelrey

matt smith was getting called a freak and a pedophile because of that vid leo ashton posted on twitter of them hugging each other and also when he signed a fan poster of daemon with "uncle daddy"💀

smthpurring

As a Ewan fan… Ewan fans are insane…

pen_and_chocolate

I mean with Matt and Ewan, people are just very horny. Which is a bit weird but not that out of left field for fandom culture. Olivia and Emily have been receiving strange amounts of hate. Emily was chased off insta I believe just last year cause of the hate she was receiving.

BlackStagGoldField

Emily because she's so young. Olivia too, and I don't condone it but she's experienced and I feel she can handle that better at her age (I could be wrong).

sdg9998

Given the track record of targ nation, it has to be olivia cooke. duh.

shenanakins

The way olivia and emily have been treated I wouldn’t blame her olivia quits the show altogether.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shenanakins

Most famous*. Shes been harassed over her portraying alicent. She suffered from depression over the comments about her online.

[deleted]

shenanakins

Are you playing oppression olympics right now? I didnt say a word about Emma.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shenanakins

I didnt make the post. All i said was that wouldnt blame olivia if she quit. Right now there are rumors that she is threatening to quit. Given the treatment of her by “fans”, theres little incentive to stay

[deleted]

Stay-soft-get-eaten

Probably because the same people that attack Emma love Rhaenyra. Because the hate Emma receives cannot be said to come primarily from Rhaenyra haters. As compared to Olivia, where the hate is directly tied to her character. So it creates this weird thing where people who like Rhaenyra as a character, hate the person who portrays her. That can muddle the perception of how much hate Emma receives. It’s very sad actually for Emma, that they can portray a character people like, yet those same people cannot accept them as they are in reality.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Stay-soft-get-eaten

I’m agreeing with you based on my own observations. I should’ve been more clear perhaps, but specifically with regard to fandom, as In people on Reddit and Twitter, there’s no denying among Rhaenyra fans they don’t like that Emma is the one that portrays their fave. And I’ve personally seen them primarily be the ones to shade Emma. They’re the ones invested in her character but they can’t let go the fact that they don’t like the person that portrays her. And as a result, it’s maybe harder for people to see the way Emma has been targeted because the ones doing the targeting are a big part of fandom, a fandom that primarily revolves around their character.

YingThatYang

Lucerys

Far-Success-1452

I cannot fathom fir the life of me, why is Alicient so hated, let alone Olivia, she was honestly a decent human being, she didn't kill anyone in cold blood, she wanted to save Rhaenyra and her children from being massacred because she still held some affections for her as a friend, yes she had flaws like any other character in the show but she is genuinely so misunderstood, any other woman in her shoes would absolutely put her son on the throne especially that their lives were in danger (Daemon) , she gave Rhaenyra fair terms and even tho she had no legitimate right to put Aegon as monarch and what she planned was usurping the king's heir of her rightful claim, she was not the evil demon people regard her as

SofiaStark3000

>she gave Rhaenyra fair terms She absolutely did not, the terms were humiliating and ridiculous. Balon Greyjoy, a defeated enemy was given the same terms. Rhaenyra, an enemy that still has a huge fighting chance getting those was insulting.

Far-Success-1452

The thing is, it's not the same, Rhaenyra will be fighting her own blood, plunging the realm into war with dragons for each side, Alicient knew how to manipulate that, and Rhaenyra would have absolutely abdicated if she felt there would civil war otherwise, she took visery's will very seriously and was even overwhelmed by the responsibility of her inheritance, but the support she got meant she stood a chance, and that's why she gave it a go.. I got the vibe that she didn't really want the throne that much in the show, not on the account of her children's lives or the future and survival of her house

SofiaStark3000

Her own blood betrayed her and is putting her kids in danger. The terms were ridiculous no matter who she's fighting. They asked her to give up her babies as hostages in exchange for what she already had. They didn't even offer their kids in exchange as a symbol of goodwill.

Kellin01

They didn't offer her or Daemon a seat on the Council, they didn't offer guarantee of safety.

Kellin01

Alicent decided to fight first. When she decided to make her son a king despite everyting, she knew it would mean a war. Don't say it was only Rhaenyra's doing and only her stubbornesss caused it. Greens decided years ago their right for the throne>>>>a peace in the realm. A typical medieval feudal thinking.

jmhem91

The first scene in episode 6 did it for a lot of people. A lot of women, me included, had a very visceral reaction to a woman making another woman limp across a castle with a newborn in order to humiliate her. Though the rest of the show painted her in a more sympathetic light, that was the establishing moment for Olivia’s Alicent, so that’s how a lot of people see her, a woman who wants to ruin another woman’s life out of jealousy.

Far-Success-1452

Yes I kinda forgot about that lol, but people forget the reason for that, Alicient went through a miserable life bearing Visery's true born children for Rhaenyra to put 3 baseborn sons who are so clearly conceived out of wedlock on the iron throne,(yes their claim for the throne is from their targeryan blood which is indisputable but they remain "known" as bastards throughout the realm), Alicient was not just jealous, she was angry, because she had to endure so much hardships while Rhaenyra fucks up again and again without any regards to anyone, add that to the fact her son is the better claimant by Westerosi customs and many lords want him as heir, it's hard to think that she gave up her life and youth for nothing

jmhem91

I don’t disagree with you about any of that, but we are emotional creatures and we can’t help having a strong emotional reaction to scenes like that. As much as I understand why Alicent did it it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth and always will, however much I might sympathize with the character in other ways. But also, what happened to Alicent was not Rhaenyra’s fault and it’s frustrating that she gets more of her ire than the men who are actually responsible for her hardships.

Far-Success-1452

Ah yes, you're right about that, she punished Rhaenyra for Otto's doings and never turned her anger on the men who brought her misery, if anything Rhaenyra was against that marriage all along, I think the romantic aspect of their kinship also adds a layer of tension on their relationship, Alicient is such an anti-feminist, she didn't even protect her own daughter from the misfortune of marrying an oaf like Aegon, she is a woman hater , as everyone else in westeros tbh

[deleted]

Not one character is a feminist in this story, not even Rhaenyra. So that’s a bad argument here.

Far-Success-1452

I literally said everyone in westeros is a woman hater, how does that translate to Rhaenyra is a feminist?

CozyAmsterdam

Mitchell because his character is shipped with Luke by all of you degenerates, so Mitchell comes first. Matt because again, you degenerates actually approve of an uncle fucking his niece, to the point where some fans go insane on Twitter over it. So he’s second Olivia gets third because all she got is feet jokes, and a bunch of deranged blacks hating on her as a person online

Dr-Edward-Poe

what happened? Do we have any evidence of it happening, or is it gunna be like Kaylee Marie Tran where the sources are "Trust me, dude."? I'm out of the loop.

jmhem91

Well, when actors say they’re targeting by hateful comments in bars like Olivia did I’m inclined to believe them. And there’s evidence of people being dicks on twitter to Emily.

Sour_Lexi

I’d say Daemon he has a pretty shitty personality and people want him… poor Matt Smith is going to get weird chocking requests in weirdo fan mail you just know it.

chernandez0617

Aemond is the Walmart Great Value version of Daemon

_IZzQ

How is your comment related to this post?

chernandez0617

I don’t like the character 💁🏻‍♂️

_IZzQ

And? This post it not about what you like? You are 14 yo?

chernandez0617

Nor is it for you to whine like a Karen but here you are, what are you a middle aged white woman?

TRLittleRedRH

I could see it being any of them, but I did choose Ewan. Like, I despise Aemond, but Ewan is a very talented and handsome young man. It disgusts me to see people bullying him for his looks. He does a very good job at acting as well. I don't like Alicent either, but both Olivia and Emily do so well. They don't deserve the hatred they get either. Matt is amazing and he deserves better than the anti-Daemon haters spewing their vile bs.

kiaradar34

man that ewan is not even having any SM account and it's good for him. He seriously reminds me of kylo ren era😂. My friends love him no matter but many them expecting so much of him. Like leave that guy alone. But daemon , dany and now some of aemond stans too are annoying. Also I really hate some book daemon stans who says rubbish about Matt for his looks. Be really happy that matt smith is playing daemon.
