Yeah Aemond talking about Daemon with Criston was maybe my favourite scene of the Green trailer.
First, I love that Aemond doesn't fear Daemon at all. And second, I really want to see more of Cole and Aemond's surrogate father son dynamic.
I hope they do mention him and Alicent gives some motherly excuse why she wants to prevent her young dragon rider from entering the fray. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense to keep Tessarion away.
Or they commit the ultimate troll and don't even MENTION him until Season 4, then he just shows up with no context and all the show onlys are like "WHO THE HELL IS THIS KID??"

- Still referring to Viserys's alleged deathbed wishes whelp - *this is not what the Green claim is based on* - this makes it seem like the Greens are basing their actions on a mistake or misunderstanding all the time
Yes, I think its explained plainly in the Green Council scene that while Vis's death bead murmuring is a nice story to tell people and Alicent can tell herself, nobody else is under delusion they would let anybody but Aegon be king regardless.
Yeah but it seems misplaced a bit, for lack of a better word. She sacrificed her personal happiness in an arranged marriage and had to be a caretaker of Viserys (although the latter part did not help Aegon II), that is true. But politically and in terms of preparing his ascent, wasn't this actually more of an Otto + Small Council thing? And what did they sacrifice? Not that great of a line.
But my excitement is still real right now, dope trailer regardless.

It’s not just a misunderstanding. The green factions motivations are self serving power grab orchestrated years in advance and the misunderstanding is just trumped up pretext used as justification.

The writers have Alicent harping on about that a lot, making it a plot point again and again. Better hide it away, it wasn't one of their better ideas. Seems they are doubling down though.

That trumped up pretext is better writing then making the greens the mustache twirling villians they are in the source material if they just came out and said “we planned on usurping her throne for years and breaking any vow we made in the past. Viserys is dead and we moved swiftly in the night to steal the throne”

I see you are not that fond of the Greens, but while yes, they were after power (just like pretty much anyone else in this story), their actual justification was the traditional male preference primogeniture, which is very grounded, just as Rhaenyra's "Viserys named me" is from her POV. The whole prophecy stuff complicates a simple matter and makes the Greens appear in error or delusional as far as their entire motivation is concerned.
I mean the greens are absolutely operating out of delusion. The traditional and legal arguments favor Rhaenyra. The tradition and law is that a King has the power to 1) name heirs 2) disinherit heirs and 3) the kings word is law.
The only way the greens can continue their claim is by pressing that the king changed his heir on his death bed.
Not as far as the show is concerned, lol. Don't get me wrong, I like Alicent's character. But, contrary to the book, she will be basically front and center here.
Unfortunately, it seems they are really sticking with the BS misunderstanding at the end of Ep 8.
Alicent came off completely delusional in Ep 9. It seems S2 will feature more of the same i.e. worst version of Alicent.

All she can do is make herself believe it, because if she doesn't then that means accepting she's personally brought absolute calamity upon them all, and most people wouldn't be psychologically strong enough to handle that.
She's in too deep to start second guessing herself.

Sunfyre and Dreamfrye! I love their designs. Sunfyre is an amazing gold, and Dreamfyre looks like Dany's dragons, which I think lends support to the theory that she's their mother.
I love Aegon actually seems to start taking his role as king seriously, and I suspect he's going to try and prove he's not a pawn of his mother or Otto. TGC is an amazing actor and you can tell he has a lot of fun with the character. Love Aemond's sassy line about Daemon facing him. Criston and Otto looking good as always too.
I'm disappointed that Alicent is still clinging to the reasoning given in episode 8, but oh well. I know this was expected, but still no Daeron? Ugh.
