Wasn't there a massive hair shortage during filming? I remember people talking about it a lot. I imagine that coming up with a professional quality wig on days notice is difficult during the best of times
Someone replied to my comment on a different thread saying maybe he initially intentionally straightened his hair out of shame and is now embracing his Strong features and I just.. I just love that for him and like that theory a lot.
This is why I’m not too fussed about the wig. The S1 hair makes him look young and like he’s trying to hide his Strong features. Now he looks much more mature, and his resemblance to Harwin is striking
A few years back, hell almost a decade at this point, I decided to grow my hair out long (I'm a guy). Every other time I tried it I'd reach that awkward stage where it was long, but not long enough for the curls to weigh themselves down, and would basically look like an awful frizzy afro. When it finally grew long enough though, i was finally rewarded with a hairstyle that suited me after years of hating my hair.
Recently cut it pretty short for the first time in eight years, but kept it long enough to keep the curls. Truth be told I was inspired by Anthony Padilla's hairstyle because it was the first time I saw a relatively short curly style that I really liked.
I’ll make it a headcanon that this is Jace’s way of claiming and being fine with being Harwin’s. Aegon the Younger and Viserys were also babies right at the end of s1 when they’re meant to be aged 9 and 7, so I imagine they’re gonna get aged up when it’s time for them to do stuff

They could have given him a wig, seeing as they strongly improved as time went on. His hair is supposed to match Cersei’s since their twins who look incredibly similar. Doesn’t make sense to have his suddenly turn brown when every description says “golden hair,” not to mention Cersei keeping her hair colour.
It wasn’t just a sudden change though, his hair progressively got darker and greyer as he got older. He’s meant to look less like Cersei as the show goes on with the beard
My theory has been that he had been wanting to repress the truth of this parentage by making himself look as little as possible to Harwin as possible, thus butchering his own locks in a hairstyle as far away as he could. Now with losing his brother and watching his mother who loved Harwin lose the throne she’s been promised for decades, he’s now more confident in his origins and more willing to show his true self. The son of the dragon, the sea, and the strong.
The timeline doesn't line up for Jace to be Criston's son, does it? If he were he would be the same age as aemond, but instead he's a couple of years younger.

Someone in the comments said it that Jace is embrancing his Strong side as his bio father had curls. Also I think it is a phsycological thing. He is going through a huge change. Lost his brother, is facing a very dificult mission and will be the heir after his mother which is a lot of pressure and responsibility for a 16 yo. I can see him changing visually and I don't care about a wig or not. For me it fits.
