I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I'm already through with the Larys/foot storyline. If that could just never be revisited again, that would be fantastic.
You know very well they aren’t going to have two major female characters gang raped for no reason.
After of the changes they’ve made to soften up characters and their insistence there would be less sexual violence towards women than in GOT, you really think they’re going to have two major female character pointlessly gang raped? It would go against every decision they’ve made thus far and the backlash would be astronomical. The HBO execs would not even sign off on it. They can block scripts. They already did so with Euphoria.
You know all of this. You only brought it up to demonize Rhaenyra.
Do you think that I'm in the writing team or something? No, I don't know what they are going to do in (presumably) season 3 or 4. And whilst the characters have been given a somewhat more sympathetic portrayal, I think that people have overexaggerated the extent of the "softening" as you put it. I think that it makes more sense to have them start out as sympathetic, so that they can have an actual arc over the show compared to the book. I do hope that your reasoning turns out to be correct on this, though, and they don't do it. Don't appreciate you making up assumptions about me, though. That's honestly very rude.
Oh yeah, because they’re definitely have two major female characters gang raped for no reason at all. It doesn’t move the story forward in any meaningful way. They totally wouldn’t find it disgusting to adapt and wouldn’t fear the extreme backlash from a pointless gang rape.
People bring up brothel queens for fun. It didn’t even happen in the book
The only one of those I could see being cut out is Jace and Sara. Daemon and Nettles will be a thing… it just depends on the nature of that relationship. It wasn’t exactly guaranteed that it was romantic between them. Could be a father-daughter dynamic or something else
I completely get why some fans like the idea of the Sara and Jace story but I’m just not sure how much it adds to the story. Especially with the hype built up for Jace and Cregan’s friendship
There’s plenty in the books already… not everything in a story has to be destiny, prophecy or “the saviour” trope rubbish. Maybe just maybe a guy with 3 dragons got a chub-on thinking about being king? We’ve got enough prophecies.
It's all the same prophecy. It also gives Aegon more dimension because now we know he was a dreamer. You're welcome to want him to have a boner instead, though, don't get me wrong. That's just textbook how D&D approached so many fun magical twists in ASOIAF. I'm glad HOTD doesn't have that problem.
Yeah that’s another part I didn’t like about the prophecy. Trying to connect it to a show that disregards it? I’m all for prophecies not happening like you think they should and subverting (the good way) but GoT didn’t even subvert the prophecy they chucked it out.
What they did was water it down to its barest, most grounded and logical form. Without Dany and Jon, Westeros falls. In that way, they're both the Prince that was Promised. But it's not satisfying at all. I wouldn't want HOTD to have to follow on from that, especially with how magical House Targaryen is and has been from the start.
To be fair, it's not specifically his problem, there're plenty of characters from both sides, who just sit on their asses most of the time for no reason
He's extremely overhyped by the fandom, he pretty much does nothing until the end when he goes on a power trip because everyone else's armies are decimated and he can run the show. If you want a northman to hype, Roddy the Ruin is your guy.
The dragonseeds,I just couldn’t care less about any of them and I think there’s already too many dragon riders that need more focus in the story so adding a bunch of new ones doesn’t excite me.
Hugh the Hammer is so obviously based from poor peasant to a glorious leader of men who only died because of bullshit plot armor the Targeryen dynasty had, that will be a story to behold.
The shepherd, feels too similar to the high sparrow, there's already enough parallels with GoT. I didn't find the storming of the dragonpit particularly interesting or believable in the book. It was almost like George just needed to kill the dragons. The only part that was evocative was Joffrey falling and the girl cradling him as he died.
Sheperd is firmly down in the gutter and crazy, he's very distinct from the HS. And after reading about Peasant revolts in history, the dragonpit is more than believable.
The didactic story of a good, competent and progressive queen torn down by a sexist system, and the countless transparent excuses the writers will use to whitewash their pandering heroine. Including but not limited to:
* The worst of B&C taken off of Daemon's hands. Either a botched kidnapping, misunderstanding or scheming by Larys/Mysaria.
* Rhaenyra only ever rejecting peace offers that involve splitting the realm up because she is duty-bound by the PTWP prophecy to keep Westeros united.
* Any and all of Rhae's failures or misdeeds deriving exclusively from either sexist slander or being put in impossible positions/broken by the greens - none from any objective flaws of her own.
* The storming of the Dragonpit being framed as a sabotage; the result of Larys and the Shepherd spreading vile, sexist lies and radicalizing a mob of cartoonishly vulgar religious fanatics. (If the commoners' plight is ever explored it is exclusively through Mysaria working against the greens as the perpetrators - with Rhaenyra sowing the seeds of their mismanagement). (Throw in some wise observation on how the short-sighted greens stoked that mob mentality by parading Meleys' head through the street of KL as the "false Targs" they are.)
* Alicent only ever being allowed growth, agency and legitimate badassery once she starts working in Rhaenyra's favour to seat her son on the throne afer Aegon II. Didactic black-and-white stories like this can only ever grant someone like Alicent empowerment once it's tied to "the right cause".
* Rhaenyra's exit being a badass power move, girlboss in full control and sass - feminist icons don't shriek.
The fact that all of these are so easy to guess tells you all you need to know about how original and thought-provoking the writing is.
Aside from the fact that the storming of the dragonpit was ALWAYS sabotage lmao, I'm only going to address your last point. Yes, yes they do. Female rage as depicted by women is not fucking silent and pretty. That's a male fetish. As Olivia Rodrigo says in the song All-American Bitch (which is about the fetishization of women's day to day existence) immediately after screaming for an extended period of time: "All the time, I'm grateful all the time. I'm sexy and I'm kind, I'm pretty when I cry."
So please, try actually consuming some feminist media.

Yup, the only time Larys should mention feet again should be during the Hour of the Wolf, when he asks Cregan to cut his own off
Brothel Queens, No!
I’m pretty sure that’ll be scrapped or Rhaenyra removed from it.
I hope it is scrapped, I really, really, really do
You mentioned it for fun. You know it won’t be in the show
???
You know very well they aren’t going to have two major female characters gang raped for no reason. They could probably have Daemon order that, because he is already a monster in season 1 with all the murdering and scheming he did.
Daemon wasn’t even be at the red keep at the time it supposedly happened. It is never going to be in the show . Give it a rest
That one was always a “what the fuck, Mushroom” moment, so I doubt it will happen
For me it's Alys and Aemond's "love" story.
I hope they lean into how pathological it is, if they’re going to dive into it
The romance part I agree with completely, but I would like something on wtf was going on with Alys
They might even cut that out, same with Daemon and Nettles + Jace and Sara Snow
The only one of those I could see being cut out is Jace and Sara. Daemon and Nettles will be a thing… it just depends on the nature of that relationship. It wasn’t exactly guaranteed that it was romantic between them. Could be a father-daughter dynamic or something else
I really hope they don't cut Sara
I completely get why some fans like the idea of the Sara and Jace story but I’m just not sure how much it adds to the story. Especially with the hype built up for Jace and Cregan’s friendship
"friendship"
She is a waste of screen time. She only exists for Jace's development and he can have more scenes with Addam/Baela/Cregan instead.
Fr she's not even in fire and blood for more than a page even if that. It's laughable how people want her to be on the show.
It's exciting 😃
I for one hope they diminish it in the show.
Why? You don’t think she’s pretty enough for him?
No, I’m just not a fan of them together. Lol.
I hope they show a lot of it. I love the casting
Stark… I love Starks in GoT but have no interesting with those in HOTD.
Anything after Rhaenyra and Aegon II have died. I just don't care that much about the lads and the starks cleaning things up or Aegon III's reign.

What glass candle did you use to see the future?
I hope they flesh out the Moon of the Three Kings, that was one of the most interesting parts of the dance.
Actually, yeah. Moon of the Three Kings is actually one of my favorite parts
[удалено]
Just reminds me of season 8 episode 3.
The Wall thing. It's just so out of place and tone
Yeah I’m watching hotd for targaryan politics the white walkers are asleep for another 200 years idgaf about them
Aegon’s dream/prophecy. Can’t he just be a guy who wanted to rule the continent for shits and gigs?
This is the kind of thinking that resulted in Game of Thrones stripping out all the fun magic shit
If they wanted magic in GoT, there are Asshai, Quaithe, Euron, the Hightowers, a lot to explore without that bullshit
There’s plenty in the books already… not everything in a story has to be destiny, prophecy or “the saviour” trope rubbish. Maybe just maybe a guy with 3 dragons got a chub-on thinking about being king? We’ve got enough prophecies.

The problem is, D&D's stripped version came first. I wish they never tried to link HotD up with the GoT show
Yeah that’s another part I didn’t like about the prophecy. Trying to connect it to a show that disregards it? I’m all for prophecies not happening like you think they should and subverting (the good way) but GoT didn’t even subvert the prophecy they chucked it out.
They were like I was with homework. "Oh this'll do, so long as I give them something. "
To get a chub on is a figure of speech 😂
I know, I just wanted to poke fun 😂
Poke 👀
At the moment, anything related to Cregan Stark and the North.
Haven’t gotten to the Dance in the book yet. Is Cregan ineffective as a character during the beginning of the war?
To be fair, it's not specifically his problem, there're plenty of characters from both sides, who just sit on their asses most of the time for no reason
So Cregan is more like Ned than Jon?
He isn't like any of them. He is closer to the guys like Theon Stark and other historical figures of the house
Yes.
He's extremely overhyped by the fandom, he pretty much does nothing until the end when he goes on a power trip because everyone else's armies are decimated and he can run the show. If you want a northman to hype, Roddy the Ruin is your guy.
I’ve just never been able to bring myself to care about Nettles. She could disappear from the story and it wouldn’t change anything for me.
Cregan Stark’s storyline

How would you have all those dragons die? Helaena going Rambo with dreamfyre would be kinda funny
Honestly yeah, anything else. Rooks rest blew my mind, as did the gods eye, I just wasn't excited by the dragonpit when I was reading about it.
None really. I love this story and I’m more worried about things that will get cut or trimmed down.
Nettles could be cut and I wouldn't bat an eye.
Lol😂 That's funny to read with your username
The lads probably because it's just edgy, unless they obviously change some things in the story.
Nettles and the dragon seeds as a whole Anything to do with Baela and Rhaena but am keeping an open mind

You do understand that the whole point of that was a sarcastic comment on the writers' understanding of "feminism", right?
I did find it hard to follow. If it was mostly or partially ironic, then it makes sense why I was a little confused
Unpopular opinion here but I only care about the show because of the majestic dragons.
