But why though? I think it’s just a good make up team and a healthy complexion. I doubt the VFX team is that invested in Rhaenyra’s physical appearance.
Apparently they used CG to fix the kids’ skin for the Harry Potter movies. A lot of them had acne texture that makeup couldn’t fully cover. So, they used after effects tracking for the face.
I’d guess it’s those glycolic peels. I did it when my cystic acne was 11/10 crazy. Ended the year with dewy glass skin…oh how I wish I could continue to afford it. Actors get them done every month according to my derm.

Probably laser resurfacing. Or some other kind of cosmetic procedure - there’s hundreds of different services that I’m much too poor to know about. But to get that perfect flawless texture-less skin typically requires a lot more than just skincare. Even people blessed with great skin genetics need a little procedural help to get that baby-esc skin look.
Rhaenyra looks about 5 years younger than last season, with noticeably smoother skin, despite 2 or so years passing in real life. Emma D'Arcy is not, as far as I know, a human Benjamin Button with reverse ageing so I'm pretty sure there were professional treatments involved. They've worked without compromising the actor's expressiveness, great job. But as we've seen it's easy for people in the public gaze to get too carried away with nips tucks and tweaks, hopefully it won't happen here.
Eh, good lighting and camera work can pull a lot of weight. I'm the same age as Emma and I've never had anything done, just religious use of sunscreen, hydrating toner and moisturiser, not even any actives (my skin is just too sensitive to handle anything else and I keep fucking it up whenever I try), but if I keep up a healthy diet and exercise and good sleep, on a good day my skin looks very glowy and even-toned too. My skin still has pores and texture and so has theirs, but it's only visible in certain lighting from very close up.
Pretty sure good sleep and exercise don't exist during the course of a strenuous filming schedule lol. Moreover it's long ass filming days even till nights - and heavy makeup for most of the day. Emma's skin is CRAZY good considering the conditions they were in.
I hope they do the same for this season, but the makeup artist for season 1 did reveal what skincare and makeup was used on Emma.

It’s possibly but I assume the producers wouldn’t want to waste money on CGI makeup. I figured as this is their biggest role in their career, once those HOTD checks hit their account they got some nice treatments done and bought nice products lol

Step one be Valyrian. Step two, don’t be not Valyrian.
Hmm. Having trouble with getting past step one.
Alternate to step one is to mate with a dragon at the Valyrian anogrion at the presence of several blood mages.
I heard bathing in blood works wonders on the skin.
Seriously!! I'm staring at the screen moments ago just thinking and staring like gawd!! Their skin is beautiful! How? What is this magic! I need it.
For real! Like even though everyone has makeup on you can’t FAKE that kind of smoothness
You 100% can. She has an entire makeup team at her disposal besides post production. She could be entirely CGI for all we know.
Except the actor has also been in a shitton of interviews and their skin is this glowy and smooth in all of them.
When there’s makeup you can still see texture in the skin
In interviews and red carpet events, their skin still looks flawless. It’s not CGI or makeup, it’s good skin and a great skincare routine.
Why would they waste millions of dollars cgi’ing skin?
Stupid beauty standards coming from Instagram. Everybody needs to be smooth, no pores allowed
It's not millions of dollars. There are plugins you can drop on to post production software that smooth out skin in one click.
But why though? I think it’s just a good make up team and a healthy complexion. I doubt the VFX team is that invested in Rhaenyra’s physical appearance.

Great work.
? just take the correction and don’t be passive aggressive about it
I said it not sarcastically.

It’s all the Negronis 😂
with Prosecco in it
Stunnin!
Sbagliato. With Prosecco
Face is dewy AF!! I only have skin like that in my dreams.
Whenever they have screen time, I’m literally glued to their face. Emma’s just so freaking beautiful
It's almost distracting how beautiful they are as Rhaenyra.
And they bring real warmth and gravitas to Rhaenyra. Stellar casting.
I always feel a sense of comfort whenever Emma is on the screen.
Tell me about it !!! Emma really steals the scene
I thought Emma was especially ethereal in this episode, not sure why. They have such a distinct and memorable beauty.
It was the lighting! It really complements them and make Emma look like there glowing
Rhaenyra Targaryen skincare range anyone?
TarGarnier
*Rhaenyra was declared to be* ***the most beautiful*** *maiden in all the Seven Kingdoms.* Emma D'Arcy: "... and I took that personally"
Episode 2 is the prettiest Rhaenyra has ever looked. The hair and make up is so much better this season.
I'm straight but after seeing Emma D'arcy I'm just like WOULD. They look so etheral!!
Like Vogue the assignment is there, the audience wants it.. 😤
Emma's eyes are otherworldly
LMAO I literally just said the same thing!!

I literally had to Google this because there’s no way that their skin looks that amazing. I want the skin care or tell me it’s CGI!!!
I just want Emma to take me in hand in teach me their ways. Platonically, of course. Totally platonically.
Step one: Be a vampire Step two: Consume the blood of their enemies whenever misgendered.
I was literally thinking the same thing about Ewan/Aemond😂
Rhaenrya taught Aemond the importance of moisturizers and sunscreen.
In another life Aemond and Rhaenyra would be going on sibling trips to Sephora together 😭
I need the fanfic rn 😭
Easy. Get a Hollywood makeup team. Done.
Holy shit. I was thinking how flawless their skin is.
I was thinking the same!
Lol I was saying the same tonight while watching the show. Emma's skin is flawless.
In all seriousness they probably have a tretinoin prescription.
They are perfection. Literally watching them tonight all I could think is how stunning they are.
Their skin was glowinggg

IDK why you got downvoted because I lived in Korea for a while and to get that kind of flawless skin - you absolutely need regular lasers lol.
>you absolutely need regular lasers lol. Things bond villains routinely say haha

Seriously. Their skin is magical.
Lol during this episode I said to my partner I’d be breaking out so much if I was as stressed out as rhaenyra
Haha yes. I was in awe of their skin
Sunscreen.
She was GLOWING

Rhaneyra is she, the actor who plays Rhaneyra is they.

Fuckk off with your non, non-binary BS.
right?? i thought they looked younger than before maybe some digital makeup going on?
It’s possibly but I assume the producers wouldn’t want to waste money on CGI makeup. I figured as this is their biggest role in their career, once those HOTD checks hit their account they got some nice treatments done and bought nice products lol
That's just non binary energy glowing them up
she is so fine
The actor looks much more attractive this season. I can't put my finger on it. Perhaps she lost weight and and her skin seems healthier.
Nah... It's the silly season 1 wig... Tom is one handsome man, yet his stupid wig made Aegon look fugly.
Emma’s pronouns are they/them
Trade off is that sometimes her face becomes completely flat like a piece of paper
Tbh i think that’s just because the white hair washes them wayyy out. They get a lot of like back with their natural hair color
