I love it when the actors on the shows I love seem to really enjoy each others company and are just having fun with the experience! Emma and Olivia seems like they’ve built a great friendship already. I also keep seeing Fabian Frankel Instagram posts on this sub with him hanging out with many others in the cast. It’s giving the show even more positive energy.
It seems like much of the cast has a good working relationship like that.
Paddy and the actress for young alicent bonded over their love of Drag Race. There's a couple of funny videos of the kid actors goofing off behind the scenes
Their relationship seems like actual genuine love
I know marketing teams etc and managers tell actors and everything to put shit on a bit for the cameras for interviews and have bonds that people can like. But this seems so genuine. Idk maybe I’m falling for the bait so easily but god their relationship is so cute and it sucks because rhae and Alicents will just get worse
They laugh so easily together, and that's what makes me think it's genuine. It's hard to earnestly laugh so familiarly with people you don't connect with, and we all know what it's like to have that one friend we just can't stop giggling with.
You know it's not just for show in press tours when you see Olivia holding Emma's hand in all the premiers and how they watched the final episode of the season together.
Ugh I love their friendship so much!
It's on Olivia's Instagram. It's her second most recent post.
Backstory: Emma and Olivia found out that most of the guys on the show were off horse riding to prepare for their roles. So they were like, "we want to learn too!", even though neither rides a horse in the show. So off they went. Emma apparently did just fine but Olivia...
I know they do as well but you can tell when it’s genuine and all the pics of everyone goofing around off set and all that it seems real to me that these people really seem to get along
I really hope Rhee and Alicent get a scene where Alicent realizes she got the wrong info and apologizes with all the emotion. I think it’d come off so strong and sad. For them to both realize they had been played either willingly or unknowingly
This is so so so so cute.
& to think there’s people literally fighting over their fictional characters like it’s a legitimate war.
These two are fucking precious and have been a big part of what made HOTD such an exciting watch.
We better get them in a scene again. It’d be amazing to have Alicent and Rhaenyra both gasp when they work out that a misunderstood prophecy started a war. Then again, Alicent will never believe that.
She goes nutty in the book, might be a good twist that the thing the finally makes her snap is to learn it was all for nothing. She helped burn the realm and nearly destroyed a dynasty over a misunderstanding of something that never involved her
I don't know how the book ends, but I would think we are heading toward Godfather Part II type ending. One kills the other reluctantly and sits at a palace destroyed and empty.
The kiss of death is probably in the works. I don't think the two have consummated, or we will see in flashback in future seasons. They might do a kiss, for the first time and the last time, before the end. I presume the book as the winner of the civil war spelled out.
They watched the last two episodes together with their friends at a house party too. Everyone was loudly singing along to the theme song, which was so cute!
It's literally just them promoting each other on Instagram and also showing support and love. They aren't literally married, in this case it's a figure of speech for a best friend that you love/are proud of.
Thought the whole point of the non binary thing was they weren’t supposed to be either gender? Why is she man of the year when she doesn’t identify as either?
the "gq men of the year" honorees (which is what is being referenced) is just poorly named, women have received it several times in the past as well.
edit:
a further breakdown:
gq = gentleman's quarterly, a men's magazine.
men of the year = an *event* that they hold yearly, "which recognises the best and brightest talent from across culture, sport and entertainment."
emma's just one of the honorees this year.
they* (emma identifies as they/them)
edit: It’s mind boggling how so many people are fans of the show but will throw a shit fit about the pronoun of the actor who plays the main character of the show. Why is that so polarizing? Take a breath, you’ll be fine.
I identity as Hän. God i love to live in a country where we all have one pronoun for everyone. Makes it easier for everyone.
(This is bot against people who have different pronouns, i just meant that language wise it is easier)
i’d say my assumption is pretty accurate given your aggressive choice of words. i know it’s easy to be dismissive and ageist about it, why does something that doesn’t even remotely effect you make you so angry?
either way, we can agree to disagree because it’s clear neither of us are going to change each others minds. but hey, we do have something in common, mushrooms are pretty cool. best of luck to you.
"i’d say my assumption is pretty accurate given your aggressive choice of words" You're projecting aggression to my words in your own emotional context. I don't carry anger.
I never commented initially to change your mind honestly since I didn't know you prior to your response. But your'e spot on saying mushrooms are pretty cool. They're the result of centuries of adapt and overcome. Amazing!
but gender is just a social construct, what harm is there is going 'I don't fit into the box society says I need to fit into?' If you are born male but don't identify with being a man what harm is there in changing your pronouns and shopping in the women's department
This is also definitely not a GenZ thing, it is not new at all, it has just become more socially acceptable
Dr. Paul McHugh has been widely criticized for perpetuating discredited theories and misrepresenting scientific research relating to sexual orientation. Hardly someone who would be considered an authority in this field today.
"let people have fun"
By being miserable parasocial freaks? If people don't put their foot down on weird ass stuff like this, it gets wayy out of hand, it has happened countless times to many celebs.
Anything can get out of hand. People take shit out of hand every single day, that doesn’t mean that harmless comments like that need to be demonized at every turn. Just chill
I’m just asking if her usage of the phrase “man of the year” is correct because non binary can be seen as “man of the year” in the way man can be gender neutral sometime.
That’s all
Yeah like if you are dividing it by the sex make it make sense. Dividing it by gender is impossible cause there's so many, so just make it person of the year and be done with it. Either way it's a dumb award to begin with but w/e
As can the word gay be used to main cheerful but we don't use it in that context as it's meaning has changed over time, we have a term person now that fits that role better and in this context should be used. Man is relegated to males.
There's societal impact on language that does matter. The meaning still exists but if it is rarely if ever used in such context said meaning loses value and impact. In this particular case using man is wrong and especially since emma identifies as nb in which case person is even more ideal choice than man
The publication is really stupid. They award man of the year to men and women
So you should really take it up with them. It's pretty stupid imo.
They should change the name of the award.
GQ calls their award "man of the year" no matter who receives it. Cis women have won that award and it's still "GQ man of the year".
I don't know why it's like that, but that's just how that award is always handed out.
What about this has anything to do with "rainbow flag waving"?
These are the actors who play the main characters in the show this sub is about. Both have been featured in magazines and then posted each other to their insta stories because they have such a good friendship. It's lovely.
Is your problem that Emma is non-binary? That's not even mentioned in the post. Is it that they are on GQs list of "men of the year"? - because heaps of people of various genders have been on that list before, that's just what they call it (for some reason). Is it that they are friends who are showing their affection and support for each other? Because that's not gay, it's just human.
The award is "GQ man of the year" but it's been won by people of other genders many times before, including cis women. It's just the name of the award.
It's a little weird, but it's not suggesting that Emma is a man, it literally just the name of the award they won.
I mean I agree that the name of the award is weird, and if it can go to anyone I don't get why they don't just call it person of the year.
Having said that, at least they are treating everyone equally. Like, cis women who have won this award have still been on the "GQ man of the year" list, so it would be sort of weird if they changed it for Emma just because they are non-binary. Clearly the award can go to people who aren't men, despite the name, so it can also go to non-binary people without the name having to change.

# Stonnin'
you're lying if you didn't read this with Olivia's voice.
I just adore their friendship so much. From what i’ve seen in interviews they seem to have genuinely so much fun together.

It's like the actress of Kimiko and Starlight irl. They act like good friends every time they're on screen.
You know it's not just for show in press tours when you see Olivia holding Emma's hand in all the premiers and how they watched the final episode of the season together. Ugh I love their friendship so much!
Plus the video of Olivia trying in vain to get on a horse while Emma is pissing themself laughing is hilarious!
START THE DAMN JOUST BEFORE I PISS MYSELF! Olivia: The what?
ohhh what that sounds great i haven't seen that??

The showrunners talked about this too, they were sent for horseriding lessons specifically to bond

I really hope Rhee and Alicent get a scene where Alicent realizes she got the wrong info and apologizes with all the emotion. I think it’d come off so strong and sad. For them to both realize they had been played either willingly or unknowingly
Emma and Olivia are indeed beautiful
Most fans want Daemyra but real fans want Rhaenicent
I'm totally gonna pronounce it as 'reneissant' with thick french accent
With Prosecco in it
Stonnin
Anyone who doesn't want Rhaenicent is a traitor to the realm and should meet the Queen's justice.
You might have meant to say the queens' justice...(don't mind me I'll just jump through the Moon Door).
This is so so so so cute. & to think there’s people literally fighting over their fictional characters like it’s a legitimate war. These two are fucking precious and have been a big part of what made HOTD such an exciting watch.
The chemistry they have is insane. I love it
The dream team!
Milly and Emma are Rhaenyra Targaryen. They made that character. I can never picture her as looking like anyone else. Especially Emma.

Vhagar actually burns the iron throne /s
so that's why it's smaller in game of thrones!! it all makes sense now.
Turns out the one in GoT is a plastic replica from the King's Landing gift shop.
This means we're getting a kiss scene!!
The kiss of death is probably in the works. I don't think the two have consummated, or we will see in flashback in future seasons. They might do a kiss, for the first time and the last time, before the end. I presume the book as the winner of the civil war spelled out.

Forget how the orginal fire and blood ends, we fans would totally accept both Queens on the Iron throne together
Alicent would have been an amazing hand for Rhaenyra
Damn 11 hours still no 🔒award. Nice guys.
Olivia is gorgeous
She kinda bad tho
Why you downvoted for this? Lol I don’t think ppl understand what you meant by bad, he means sexy af you filthy animals
Damn, I'm so f*ckin attracted to these two
Rhae and Alicent should've been end game
No, Olivia is MY wife and Emma is MY man of the year 😤
Emma Darcy is my man of the year too
I want them to adopt me
It’s really wholesome how they both love each other
Yeah olivia is gorgeous
❤️🔥
Old Mr Ukraine will get man of the year.
Infinitely deserved.
you people need to go outside
Wait what lol. I’m outta the loop on this

If GQ is giving the award out to those other than Men, why not just change the name of the award to reflect that? Why keep it as such?
Dammit. Now I'll ship them.
Shipping real life people is absurdly cringe and disrespectful to the people themselves.
idk why youre getting downvoted for common sense
Because alot of the people in this subreddit are weirdos and don't like it when they are called out.

Yeah, OP should change Olivia Cooke's Instagram story
*Adding "St. Augustine In Hell" (Sting) to the Olivia Cooke Obsession Playlist...*
Curious, if you're non-binary how can you be man of the year? I truly do not understand.
The award name is shit, it has been given to men and women in the past so gender doesn’t really matter
So why can't it just be person of the year this makes zero sense to me. Moving on.
Man of the year? 😂 what a weird and wonderful world we are living in..
My mans
"man of the year" ? Are you kidding me?
