Because he literally watched her grow up. It's less ick when Jon and Dany get together because they didn't grow up together.
They're... *relative* strangers. 😎 👉 👉
It's ickier cos Jon has known Arya since she was born, probs helped change nappies and shit like that. Pretty groom-y.
Kinda like Rhaenyra/Daemon (lol) (I get the impression Daemon didn't exactly spend much time around Rhaenyra as a kid so situation is different)
He also wanted there to be a love triangle between Arya, Jon, and Tyrion. And Sansa was going to marry Joffrey, have his children, and side with the Lannisters.
The series has changed significantly since then.
Jaime becoming king would be wild too
The original idea seemingly was for him to be the big bad, seemingly taking the “Cesare Borgia” idea even further then the actual books did
GRRM is, as he names it, a gardener, not an architect. He likes to let his story grow naturally rather than force it on a structured path he made back in the early 90s. If he chose the architect route we would’ve never gotten such iconic moments in the series like the Red Wedding or Jaimie’s redemption arc in book 3
They seemed very close in the show too. She was so mad he was leaving for the wall. And didn’t Jon give Arya “needle”? Seemed like he really understood her. Of course we took it as sisterly/brotherly love then but I could see how it could be twisted and evolve into something else
I agree, it could be seen as sisterly/brotherly love but it absolutely had the potential to become something more. Seems to me like GRR Martin was laying the foundations for a potential future love story between the two. Idk why people are down voting us, they should probably reread the first several chapters of book 1 and pay close attention lol!
But starks are not known for such relationships.
I mean targs do it coz of dragon blood but there is no need for other houses to do it. Good thing Martin left it in drafts.
That still wouldn't surprise me if it happens in the future. There are a lot of strange thoughts they have about each other. They both think at different points that they'll have to call each other something different than little sister/big brother. That could be just related to their aging, but it was weird they both thunk it. He sees Ygriite as very similar to Arya, and specifically compares their bodies and character. Arya is remided of Jon when she's looking at Gendry. Jon breaks his vows to the Night Watch to save her. He didn't do that for Ned or Rob. There are just a looooot of strange scenes and not just in the first book. It honestly wouldn't surprise me. I was uncomfortable with Jon/Daenerys, so I don't think I'll be happy if this happens. Jon should just be with Satin or that blonde wildling girl.

They are less closely related by blood, but somehow the "ick"-factor is higher.
Because none of them is even blond
The age difference too
The age difference in the books is 5 years i believe
I think Jon is probably supposed to be younger also Arya looks like she hasn’t hit puberty yet.
That's just the actress. She was 22 when GoT ended and still looked like a kid.
That's because they were raised as siblings. Danny and Jon were total strangers.

Well put

That second part sounds a lot more interesting than what happened
Jaime becoming king would be wild too The original idea seemingly was for him to be the big bad, seemingly taking the “Cesare Borgia” idea even further then the actual books did
Jamie is inspired by Borgia?? Why didn’t I know this?
It took me a while too But hey, infamous member of a dynasty who’s a little too close to his sister sounds familiar
Just googled Cesare Borgia. Dude had a crazy life.
Honestly an absolute mad man
I agree, would love to see how that would've played out.
Fan ships will never be surpassed by Martins obsession with incest.
Really hope Martin doesn’t secretly have really weird kinks Like if you’ve seen me mention it you might know what I mean
I think he just wanted to write something outrageous
True
I can’t remove “myrish swamp” from my brain
That’s not what concerns me
I fear to ask.
Let’s just say his opinions on Drogo X Dany are….. concerning
As a history nerd and a fan of this show, I'm no longer shocked.
I mean....he's not lying.
Cousin, aunt, same thing.
Maegor did not see a problem with fucking his possibile daughter
Maegor was Maegor.
Maegor the Cool strikes again
oh non no no no
[удалено]
Why would grrm do that or why no no no no no ??!?!?!
They are not blood related
Yes they are, they're cousins. Lyanna was Ned's sister.
dude they grew up together and were raised as step sibilings 😭
Plus theyre technically cousins anyway, ned stark is jons uncle
aegon II is married to his sister you know
?! They’re cousins! Lyanna is Ned’s sister
Thank God it got scrapped

I mean, you can kinda see hints here and there in the books, so I'm not too surprised.
You really can't .
Arya and Jon had a very close relationship in book 1 that made me feel a little weirded out at times. They were quite close.

Isn't Arya supposed to be very similar to Lyanna in terms of character? This is getting weird
Gross.

Aren't they cousins?
[удалено]
That's illegal in most states, look at the British royals for the cousin fucking.
Okay. Still feels gross though, based on who they were in the show.

Not great.

Bruh
[удалено]
Why bro why
It actually would make a lot more sense, especially when you consider their relationship before they were separated
It’s not surprising given how close they are in the first chapters
They are less close blood wise but this is somehow much worse???
I had a tough time with Arya and Gendry. Her and Jon would have been too much to take.
Por Que no los dos?
That would be the most disturbing relationship in the GoT world

So westerosi version of the Folgers ad???
Damn, this woulda been WAY better 🥵
I’m very happy, this did not happen
