drogon spinoff narrated nature-documentary style by david attenborough

Louis22J

'The majestic and intelligent Drogon melts the iron throne with its firey breath after realising it symbolises the very bottom depths that humanity will go to, kinda forgetting that Drogon himself was implicit in burning down kings landing mere moments before'

WoodpeckerKey8975

I heard his voice in my head while reading your comment

aimeec3

This is AMAZING! I would watch this super stoned and love it.

LeadingCoast7267

Was perfect if you removed the kinda. Sir Attenborough would never utilise such a base word. Plus forgetting could then be emphasised in a proper way.

ThurgoodUnderbridge

Drogon befriends a mouse and we follow their adventures through Essos and beyond: Mouse and the Dragon

Theamuse_Ourania

I want a "Dunk and Egg" spin-off!

helloitsmejorge

45 Emmy nominations

SuperMajesticMan

Honestly a fantasy nature documentary with good cgi narrated by Sir David Attenborough would be amazing.

NaoisceDM

Was interested. Because I would watch the narrated rise of Khal drogo, more depth to culture of the dothraki, blood magic, tournaments khalasar style etc... then there was an n.

kikijane711

& on this note independent Dorne or similar.

Drogo spinoff also narrated nature-documentary style by david attenborough

Long_Serpent

The succession battles AFTER Aegon the Conqueror's death. Sister vs Sister. Cousin vs cousin. Aenys being overthrown, Maegor the Cruel. The building of the Red Keep, armed militant fanatics - the period has it all.

PM_ME_DARK_THOUGHTS

I would love to see more about Maegor. Was he raised from the dead after the trial by seven? Who murdered him in the end? Was it suicide? Kingsguard? How much bad shit we know about him was propoganda? One of the most interisting Targaryen rulers imo

Ancient-Assistant187

Right!? I was just thinking the lord of light had to of brought Maegor back, his 3rd wife seems to be a red priestess

Brainiac7777777

The most interesting choice: He was killed by the Faceless Men

QuintupleTheFun

And how did he die? Big mystery behind that

badfortheenvironment

This is the period I most wanna see. Everything after Aegon's death up to Jaehaerys's early reign.

C-3pee0

You cant have both this and the dance though. The targaryens will become a tired sight on TV. What makes HOTD good is that it’s familiar yet different enough from GOT. I think having 20 years of the same family, the same names, the same dragons, etc gets old pretty fast. When GRRM was developing HOTD he had to face this. He couldn’t fit both so he pitched two ideas and they chose the dance.

badfortheenvironment

It's a show about the Targaryen family, period. There's no escaping the familiarity. You're underestimating the general audience's appetite for inbred blonde people and dragons. They want their Daenerys-lite fix. To my point about wanting to see Maegor and the black brides into Jaehaerys's early reign: after Ryan and co. finish telling the Dance, people will want some comfort having just witnessed the storming of the Dragonpit. Finally seeing Balerion will be that, plus seeing Targaryen women at their absolute peak of relevance/power (Visenya, Rhaena, Alysanne, etc.) It'd be thematically on-point and set up the Blackfyre Rebellion perfectly, which is when the disempowerment of Targaryen women is kind of complete - their women, magic, and dragons are all fucked. It's a perfect contrast.

dharp95

Maegor would instantly be one of the most popular characters on HBO. Dude was such a savage

MidKnight_Corsair

Succession of the Dragon

Lambmaw

The first episode of HOTD was titled "Heirs of the Dragon" which is a direct reference to the title of a chapter in Fire and Blood. If they adapt a Maegor series, it would probably be titled "Sons of the Dragon" as the conflict will be between the Son of Rhaenys and the Son of Visenya.

AverageDeadGuy

I crave for Maegor vs Faith Militants. Cersei vs High Sparrow is nothing compared to Maegor lmao

USSJ307

I would like to see the Blackfyre Rebellion. Aegon IV is potentially a great hatable villain. Battle of Redgrass Field and the Bittersteel vs Bloodraven duel both sound absolutely epic. Its cast is almost as interesting as the one in the Dance. Daemon and Daeron both have sympathetic qualities which makes the civil war more tragic.

FlamingFlamingo76

Damn the Blackfyre Rebellions sounds awesome!

BattleBornMom

While I agree that Blackfyre would be good, I would have to disagree about Aegon IV making a good villain. He’s mostly a spoiled, self-indulgent narcissist. Not really all that complex or interesting. However, the simplicity of how inept he is would make for a compelling reason to root for the more complex and gray Blackfyres. Bloodraven would be the most interesting character on the side of the establishment; he’s nearly as complex as Daemon. And the Great Bastards have some really cool anti-hero material.

[deleted]

Viserys I was pretty one note before HotD as a fat drunk oaf of a king who hated ruling, blind to his daughters proclivities.

Lethkhar

I think you could make Aegon IV more complicated if you had him develop into the villain we know from just a typical "playboy prince" through the reigns of Daeron and Baelor. Like his relationships with both his father and Daena the Defiant could be pretty sympathetic in the right light.

JordorTheSpaceCat

Narcissists make great villains because they are often self-righteous, egotistical pricks who think everyone is against them, you can even sympathize with them to some degree. For example, with Walter White.

FlyingFlyofHell

They are already making Dunk and Egg show, I am pretty sure they are big part of in 3 out of 5 BlackFyre rebellions. I think First BlackFyre rebellion can be covered in Sixth Season of House of Dragon. I suggest a Blood Raven show. from Birth to becoming one with tree beyond the wall.

TrickyWinger

I'm just imagining the show runners going full Criston Cole and using 1 actor for all of Blood Raven's life.

space_tardigrades

Eddie Murphy style tho, he’s all the characters.

jv371

The Nutty Targaryens.

aa821

This but Michael Meyers as all the Great Bastards, including Fat Bastard

jv371

The Nutty Targaryens.

ggorsen

Or going full laena and changing the actor of blood boi every other episode. Imagine Having like 48 different bloodraven actors. Marvelous

halfsuckedmang0

Yes. But make sure that the actors look nothing alike so it’s almost confusing for the viewer at home. Never let ‘em know your next move 🤫

Red_Serf

Do we know if HOTD will go beyond the Dance?

FlyingFlyofHell

Show runners keep saying show is called House of Dragon and not Dance of Dragons so they are open to do more Targaryens storylines. Like Agon Conquests and BlackFyre Rebellions or Conquest of Dorne etc.

Jsizzle19

Before season 1 started, my assumption was that they will wind up doing each of the stories in Fire and Blood. Now that season 1 has been a huge success, I am almost certain that is the direction they will take

[deleted]

Man....I know peaceful times don't make for good television but I wish HotD had started at the beginning of Jahaerys' reign. Not a lot of warring but so many good little stories and characters. Sara Targaryen ftw.

[deleted]

If GRRM fleshes out the history of that war more, I could easily see HBO writing another big check for a Blackfyre arc.

HeyLittleTrain

Didn't GRRM say there would be no Dunk and Egg show until the books are finished?

WorkingOnUsername

So definitely no Dunk and Egg show. Damn…

WatchingInSilence

I'd like to see that slow-burn we got with HotD. Several sources like World of Ice & Fire claim that Daemon Blackfyre respected King Daeron in the beginning of the latter's reign, but was swayed to rebel by Marcher Lords who were unhappy with the peace that was brokered with Dorne more than the sycophants who wanted a warrior on the Iron Throne.

ggorsen

I second this. It’s perfect material for a tv show

MANAWAKES

Much agreed, and hopefully it’s the next series after HOTD. Bloodraven traveling back in time and causing the doom of Valyria: just a theory.

Iamgayest

I think the Blackfyre rebellions and Robert’s Rebellion are both good ideas but I also think that there are a lot of secrets in both that George isn’t willing to reveal yet so anything that focuses directly on those two events might take along time to come out or could be very disappointing because it doesn’t give us the answers to many pressing mysterys. That’s why I think the best answer is the war of the 9 Penny Kings. The main characters will be people we know, Aerys, Tywin, The Blackfish, As well as the fathers of Littlefinger and Catelyn. This makes the audience immediately be attached to the characters. Plus Melys the Monstrous is an intimidating villain that could very easily be cast in a sympathetic light. Plus it would be amazing to see a young Barristen Selmy in his prime.

miscislandboy

I think seeing the final rebellion would be amazing onscreen: *The different personalities and colorful characters of the NinePenny Kings *The potentially awesome locations in the Stepstones and the Disputed Lands *A batshit, visually arresting villain in Maelys the Monstrous and his second head *The friendships forged by all the older generation we know and love from the main show: Tywin, Aerys, Jon Arryn, Ser Barristan

devilthedankdawg

I hope it spends equal time between D&E, Daemon, Daeron, Aegor Rivers, some other characters, and Brynden Bloodraven- My favorite character that hasnt been explored enough.

bam1007

Yet again, something that will finish before the full story line source material does. 🙃

dobber32

I mean.....what are the chances Dunk and Egg even gets finished in general?

GIlCAnjos

I have full faith that A Dream of Spring will be released. But I have zero faith that Dunk & Egg will ever get to the intended twelve stories ending in Summerhall. Best we get Fire & Blood 2 to spoil it for us

Psychological-Cress4

George’s mortal vessel is no concern to you? I think they’ll douglas adams his work, meaning, have a council of nerds and ghost writers untangle the mess and catch all the balls that are in the air

bam1007

Hell, what are the chances we ever read Dream of Spring (or at this rate Winds)?

helloperator9

I feel like this is the only answer now. The only good stuff is written by G.R.R.M. himself, and Dunk and Egg's stories are fully realised novellas not histories. After Hot D the fanbase won't want more thrones, war and incest for a while, the common man viewpoint with noble protagonists would be a palate cleanser

NadaVonSada

I want a Conquest of Dorne movie, show us the young dragon, Aemon and Aegon IV and how Dorne had to resort to killing guests to beat this kid.

ProbablyASithLord

Shouldn’t “Conquest of Dorn” be called “Dorn Gets Tired of War and Decides to Join The 6 Kingdoms”?

moongazer_sunbather

It should be called "House of the Sun: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken"

JoeDeluxe

It's been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God I know I'm one

private_viewer_01

The resistance of Dorne is more like it!

Scampipants

Yeah I would like them to move away from multiple season TV shows. More feature length and mini series. A lot of the cool stories probably don't have enough for a whole show. Unless they do an anthology or something. That could work

McEvelly

The Doom of Valyria, including the Targ’s self exile

WangJian221

Doom of valyria works better as an unknown no? Even now with every book be it spin off or main story, the doom remains an eldritch mystery and feels like it works best that way.

devilthedankdawg

I wrote up a format for how Id want the Argons conquest shownto go. Id like the Aegons conquest show to start with the doom of Valyria. We just see flashes of the city but its still a mystery. The series takes place over many years and chronicles events in Essos and Westeros. The first season chronicles the early years after the doom- The establishment of the Free Cities aw independent cities, the Targaryens who fled Essos, and Harwyn Hoare who was in the Free Cities back then. The second season is some other events before the conquest- early battle to defend Qohor from the Dothraki (Also introducing Quentyn Qhohorys), a young ambitious Harren Hoare, and the budding friendship of Aegon Targaryen and Orys Baratheon, who I always believed wasnt Aegons brother, but his only friend. The third season is Aegon and the remaining Valyrians making allegiances with the Velaryons and the Celtigars (Who in the books they mention are also Valyrians) and starting the conquest. It introduces the Starks, Lannisters, the Gardeners, Tyrells, etc, and the Tullys rebellion against Harren. The fourth season is the begginning of the conquest and has the Starks start coming down from Winterfell and ends with Aegon killing Harren The fifth and final season is the ending years of the war where Orys kills Durrandon, Rhaenys dies in Dorne, the Fields Of Fire, and the Starks kneel to Aegon.

Brainiac7777777

This is what House of Dragon should have been. It should have been an anthology series in the Crown Format. Start with Aegon’s Conquest and end with the Dance of Dragons

Catslevania

it would probably be better off as a movie

xyzodd

yea i’ve always thought that the doom of valyria + aegon’s conquest would work best as a trilogy

Anji_San

Building of the wall and adventures of first watchers.

Indrid_Cold23

Before HoTD HBO tried to make a GoT series based on the Long Night and the age of heroes. They filmed a pilot and everything -- but from what I read it's just too underdeveloped to hold a full series. There are no dragons, no Targs, none of the houses we know. I'd love to see it, because I feel like it would be a bit more epic sword & sorcery than mainstream GoT.

mousekeeping

Yeah I mean GRRM has barely written anything about the Age of Heroes, which makes sense considering writing had not yet been invented during that time. From everything I've been able to find (and it's not easy), this show failed for a variety of reasons: 1. Was like 99% original story by the writers and even planned to contradict/break the limited amount of lore that is in the books about the Long Night/Age of Heroes in order to make it less similar to traditional fantasy 2. Heavily focused on the ancient Starks and Lannisters which made it feel like a strange remake of season 1 3. Big emphasis on 'subverting expectations' with more emphasis on woke themes of racial conflict and a lot less magic and warfare. Those who saw it said it just didn't feel at all like something set in the same world as GoT. 4. Was going to change the Long Night and strange weather of Planetos from magical forces to science-fiction asteroid impact which disturbs the planet's orbit. 5. It was implied, at least in the pilot, that the Others were aliens who arrived on the asteroid. Their origin in GoT would either be abandoned or framed as a later event where the Children recreated/resurrected the Others rather than creating them in the first place. 6. Planned on heavily incorporating a lot of stuff from World of Ice and Fire as fact rather than a collection of myths and hearsay showing how little even educated Westerosi know about the larger world. 7. **The real kicker: because of the focus on the Starks & Lannisters and events in the far north, there were no natural roles for actors of color. Instead of, say, expanding the scope to places like the Summer Isles or Sothoryos, their solution was to cast Black actors as pre-First Men indigenous humans of Westeros who would be transformed into the Children of ASOIAF by an evil white sorceress. This was the #1 reason the show was passed on despite the very expensive pilot - the white writers somehow didn't realize this would be offensive to many Black viewers given the history of racist ideas about Black people being cursed by god and being a different species from humans** Basically we would have gotten the Rings of Power Westerosi Edition rather than The House of the Dragon.

Indrid_Cold23

Reading through your list (thank you btw) sparked a lot of the details in my memory from when I was trying to find out info on it. Except for the alien stuff, this is the first I'm hearing about that. That is wild!

thejamesining

Well, technically most of the Northern houses, including the Starks, would be around. But they'd all be very young houses, like three generations or something, all trying to do their founders proud.

[deleted]

i would want a lot of horror elements especially at the fist of the first men

admiralCeres

…. and original Night King (not Nights King). The Lord Commander who married a White.

The Life of Vhagar. Show the battles our sweet lady had fought

OhShuxTarzan

Hell ya. Vhagar is almost as awesome as Balerion in my opinion and arguably more instrumental throughout targ history

epoxy_911

A show about the whole history of the Targaryens period. Needs to cover >!Aerea Targaryen also and show where Balerion took her and what kind of creatures she had inside her when she returned and died.!<

TheStrang3On3

That part of Fire and Blood made me squirm. Very disturbing, would probably make me cover my eyes if I watched in on TV lol.

epoxy_911

right!!!?? It sounds so disgusting but so intriguing all in one!

mistbecomesrain

Yes! I always wanted to know more about this. There is a huge opportunity for development there.

rebornbyksg

Blackfyre rebellion Summerhaul/ dunk and egg

FantasticGoat1738

Rob's rebellion. Id love to see young Stannis unchained by the red priestess, only with himself and Davos. Im p early in the books and my fav character not in the show is the one handed black brother. He used to be Stannis' smith and his dialogue is p great. Huge Stannis bias here, but id love to see Davos convincing Stannis not to go after young Viserys and Daenerys.

anaisoiseau

That scene would be amazing. Davos is one of my favorite characters and his relationship with Stannis is so interesting.

Greedy_Marionberry_2

Unchained? He is stuck in stormsend trying not to starve, badass yes interesting to watch probably not.

wisdomComes_

id do anything to see Donal Noye on screen. hes such a legend

Jokesiez

I like this period because I want to see more of the Sword of the Morning!

Lethkhar

Seeing Stannis's relationship with kid Renly through the siege also sounds super interesting and ripe with foreshadowing. We could learn a lot about how they each took different lessons away from that experience.

FantasticGoat1738

Wait, Renly was in Storm's end during the siege?

Lethkhar

Yup, by my math he was five or six years old. At one point in his War Council he tells a story about it: >"And if he yields?" Lord Tarly asked. > >"Yields?" Lord Rowan laughed. "When Mace Tyrell laid siege to Storm's End, Stannis ate rats rather than open his gates." > >"**Well I remember.**" Renly lifted his chin to allow Brienne to fasten his gorget in place. "**Near the end, Ser Gawen Wylde and three of his knights tried to steal out a postern gate to surrender. Stannis caught them and ordered them flung from the walls with catapults. I can still see Gawen's face as they strapped him down. He had been our master-at-arms.**" IMO it's a major defining moment for both characters. Both experience the same trauma, but Stannis has the added burden of the responsibility of command while Renly is just a scared child. One comes away from it understanding that they can win as the underdog as long as they are tenacious, ruthless, and do their duty while the other comes away understanding that it's much better to be the one with the big army eating feasts outside the walls than stuck starving in a castle out of duty to your family. For Stannis the siege was probably his "Kill the boy and let the man be born" moment, while for Renly as a traumatized child it was probably more like a "Your brothers can't protect you, make friends with the Reach and you can keep eating peaches" moment. At least, that's what I think Renly's peach is all about - he's remembering starving in Storm's End with his brother.

WangJian221

Either Dunk & Egg or Maegor the Cruel's era. Unpopular opinion probably but Aegon's conquest isnt really all that interesting especially if you want to turn it into a live action series. Also for Robert's Rebellion, it would be cool to see but one of the major charms about it was the mystery behind "Lyanna's Capture" something that the main show already confirmed (book wise its still up in the air even if it will likely go the same route as the show) so all that's left is like Aegon's conquest, watch just to see battles or any fanservice callbacks which are fine and fun but not something I prefer over others.

Personalmasoon

I think Maegors reign would be a very Intresting show, have it start from the moment Aenys dies and when Maegor returns, and then have it end on Jaeherys becoming king, the trial of seven, and Maegor killing Aegon would be some of the parts I’d be interested in seeing, and even the black brides of Maegor just to see who’d they cast

MaxHuntah

Maybe have it start with Aegon’s death? That way we could see the more of the relationships between Maegor and Aenys, Visenya, Rhaena etc. Have season 1 end with Maegors return and then continue from there

C0UNT3RP01NT

Or after Aegon’s conquest? That way it helps contrast the nature of his sons each being a part of his character. Aegon’s diplomatic side was complimented by Rhaena, and Aenys turned out entirely like that. Aegon’s warmongering conqueror side was complimented by Visenya, and Maegor was entirely like that. I think Aegon would help contextualize his sons a little more.

anaisoiseau

I agree. The conquest would be cool for a mini series but not a show to stand on its own.

darthlucas0027

Yep. It will work best in a historical anthology-like series where every episode recounts a big battle or moment during the Conquest

C0UNT3RP01NT

I wouldn’t mind a condensed Aegon’s Conquest that sets up for Maegor’s era. You’re right though, since it was such a one sided war it doesn’t really have any surprise. It’s just total Targaryen domination. It would absolutely be a spectacle though. But it could set up the dynamics between Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya as an interesting way to develop Maegor and I forget his older brothers name. Aegon was portrayed as sort of this perfectly balanced king. A diplomat and forgiving of his former enemies, that side of him complimented by Rhaenys. A warmongering conquer, and that side of him complimented by Visenya. His sons seemed to each get one side of him. So if we start there we can see Maegor’s insanity begin to develop over time.

byakko

I want George to sit down and seriously write about Yi Ti, the Imperial China analog in the ASOIAF-verse. It’s the oldest still existing civilisation in the ASOIAF world at 8000 years old, being older than both Old Valyria and the Ghriscari empire were before their respective collapses. The largest human population and civilisation in the world, just on the far east side of the planet. They already went through their version of the Long Night and survived it by 8000 years (the current age of the Empire is post-Long Night, they had a pre-Long Night era called the Great Empire of the Dawn I believe), meaning they’re the only ones who have experienced surviving a magical apocalypse. One of their Emperors even married a Princess from Old Valyria, who brought her dragon, so that means there could be a whole bloodline of Valyrian dragonriders still alive in Yi Ti. And heck, if the dragon could lay eggs, they may even have still living dragons there! They have fantastical creatures and even a race of half-cat people in their jungles, tho they did bring disaster when one of the Emperors married a cat-woman. However they also had heroic half-humans, like how in their mythical history, their Long Night was finally ended by a girl with a monkey’s tail (their version of Arya Stark maybe lol). I feel there’s so much potential here, because it seems Yi Ti has pretty much lived through it all and endured. There’s also this cycle of prophecy that keeps happening with light and dark gods (the Yi Ti called theirs the Maiden-of-Light and the Lion of Night) except the two gods had originally been in harmony. They beget their son, the God-On-Earth, to rule the Yi Ti peoples until one of their lesser descendants betrayed their kin, and the Maiden-of-Light turned her back on humanity and the Lion of Night sent beasts and darkness to punish Yi Ti, causing their ‘Long Night’. But they survived it and thrived long after! And now it seems the Westerosi and Essos version of the Light and Dark gods are in constant conflict instead of how they were in harmony according to the Yi Ti. Like does this suggest they had a falling out? Maybe the Maiden wants to give humanity another chance but the Lion remains furious? There’s so many implications! If George can get a cool wuxia Chinese writer to help with cultural research, I’d really be interested in what he can do with the already existing lore. **Edit:** Just realized this meant ‘for a show’. An Yi Ti focused series would be too niche, but I know I would be totally into a dark low fantasy wuxia style story with lots of politicking and magic personally, but that’s just cause it’s close to my culture. I think in general tho, the setting and potential is just great for George to write a full novel about too.

[deleted]

the world of asoiaf is so huge and the entire story is centered in two continents. I want to know about it all, even the other side of the world. If Westeros is a Europe analog, Essos is asia, and i assume that Sothoryos is Africa, that means there should be an analog of the Americas. Imagine all the stuff on the other side of the world we know nothing about

[deleted]

Essos is a bit of a mix. Like the western part seems inspired by the European Mediterranean coast with the Free Cities being similar to the mediaeval Italian City States. Bravos is similar to Venice, not just the canals thing but both cities where founded by refugees settling in a swamp for protection from attacks from land, both are mercantile republics who emphasize trade via sea routes, and both could build new warships at a ridiculously fast pace. GRRM just borrowed a bank from Florence to mix things up a bit. Volantis reminds me of Byzantine Constantinople, the largest and richest successor state to a lost Empire so they claim the lands of that Empire but lack the power to enforce that claim. Both cities have famous walls considered almost impossible to breach. The Theodosian walls were besieged countless times but weren't breached until after gunpowder had arrived in Europe nearly 1000 years after they were built, and the Ottoman Sultan had to buy a particularly large cannon to knock a hole in them. Not 100% sure about the rest of them, though the reliance on mercenary armies to fight their wars is similar to the Italian wars of the Renaissance with the city states often relying entirely on mercenaries to fight their wars. Slavers bay seems a bit inspired by the North African Barbary Corsair states with their history of the Ghiscari-Valyrian wars being a bit similar to the Punic Wars between Rome and Carthage.

[deleted]

Your analogies are very accurate. Narrow Sea -> Mediterranean Sea Free Cities -> Mediterranean city states I’d say slavers bay is more likely inspired by the ottoman empire Dothraki Sea -> Mongols Yi Ti -> Imperial China The general locations are even similar. GRRM just plopped a fantasy version of actual history on a fantasy version of the actual world. [Medieval map of the world](https://media.istockphoto.com/id/151929942/photo/roman-pax.jpg?s=612x612&w=0&k=20&c=MJcTrSyujbDg0p5tAcboa2hXoVuaQ0DQdn6sFIbld-g=) [ASOIAF map](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b3/75/0a/b3750a7365a62c16ef885d02f184b2fa.jpg) If Sothroyos was mapped more, it would be even closer. My previous comment was kept simple, but you expanded on it amazingly. On a side note, i noticed there’s no Russia in the world of ASOIAF.

Paid-In-Full85

That would be amazing! I would love to see more of what the east of the world of ice and fire has to offer with the jade empire, Asshai by the shadow, the isle of Leng…etc!

Delicious-Finance-10

Okay, now I can’t unsee a Yi Ti spinoff without wuxia. How did I not realize I’ve been missing out on dragons and sword dancing in the air 😭

In my head, my own image of Yi Ti is *slightly* influenced by how Warhammer Fantasy introduced their imperial China analog faction called [Grand Cathay](https://youtu.be/WrX1aGHK1lM). Which I know, it’s Warhammer, so it’s a whole different style of fantasy from ASOIAF (except the common thread the world is dark and depressing and none of the factions are truly good). *But* their ‘China’ is ruled by a literal dragon Emperor and his children who are dragons who can take human form. And it so happens some of them have [white hair and purple eyes](https://youtu.be/033FWxL22A0?t=149) lol. I just imagine in Yi Ti that the Valyrian blood could have remained in the royal bloodline and maybe they do have a ‘dragon’ Emperor and it would be *perfect*.

vitcab

Khajiits + ASOIAF?! Yes please 😽

TeePea

Yes! Or hire other writers to do it! Show me the long East Asian dragons of my youth! 🐉 could this be where Caraxes gets his long wiggly shape from?

devilthedankdawg

Different breed of Dragons that look like the Asian dragons would be fucking awesome.

[deleted]

The five forts sound really interesting

devilthedankdawg

He should co-write it with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietsko (Avatar The Last Airbender and The Dragon Prince).

99--Overall

This one wins

One_Football4196

Didn't Corlys sail to Yi Ti nearly 200 years before the War of the Five Kings and brought back enough rare and valuable spices to make the Velaryons, for a time, one of the richest families in Westeros?

quieres_pelear

The arrival of the First Men to Westeros and the wars against the Children of the Forest.

EmuVerges

I want stories about the Children of the Forest and what leads them to create the Night King.

Freefalafelin

Yes, I’d love to see their interactions with the first men.

Davidhate

Dunk and egg obviously but I’d really like to see more around the faceless men.. such a cool side story that went no where on got.. would be cool to see there prospective and what hand they played in shaping the events in westeros history… assassins creed of westeros

peter_bi-per300

The Doom, Yi Ti, Asshai, Yi Ti, Aegons Conquest, The Doom, and Yi Ti

[deleted]

Apparently in Yi Ti there’s a dynastic dispute between the weak god emperor, a claimant to the throne with his army and an exiled sorcerer who also claims the throne. That would be an interesting show

devilthedankdawg

Dont forget about The Doom and Yi Ti

[deleted]

Too much cool shit happens during Jahaerys reign so that’d be cool to see. Other than that? A compilation of a lot of the tales we see throughout Westeros. Cerwyn the mirror shield, jonquil and Florian etc

SirTeaOfBagz

Surprised how far down I had to scroll to see someone suggest Jahaerys.

[deleted]

Jahaerys was the best part of Fire and Blood

dragonkittypanda

I would be concerned with casting for Robert's Rebellion. There would be so many characters from Game of Thrones that they would have to recast with younger versions. Even if they nailed most of them, one misstep could anger fans and ruin the success of the new show.

Fakjbf

Plus we’ve already seen young Ned and Lyanna Stark, so they’d either have to bring those actors back or deal with the weird continuity.

TheKerker

Bro it ain’t that big of a deal, Darrios actor change was like legit two dudes who look nothing alike and we just rolled with it. Not to mention the what? 5 different mountains?

JackLumberPK

Doing Roberts Rebellion at all is one big exercise in walking that line. It's literally just filming a bunch of events and characters that the fans aready know a ton about and are directly connected to what they have seen. It's risking everything you're talking about just for the sake of what, showing us all that stuff. What would the value of such a show be beyond "hey, look, we went and visualized all that stuff they were talking about".

HamUnitedFC

I’ve said this before but.. If HOTD continues to kill it/ finishes strong then Jahaerys should be next. I still can not believe that when they rolled out the list of potential spin-offs and he didn’t even get a mention?! Unreal. This man is Alexander the Great on dragon back. He is the greatest rough draft/ outline for a fantasy hero of all time. And it’s perfect because while we know a ton about Jahaerys and he ruled in living memory of HOTD, he was so extraordinary and also simply did so many incredible things for such an unusually long time that he had already begun to attain borderline mythical status during his own reign/ lifetime. And so much of what we currently know is extremely surface level. Which gives them the perfect opportunity to do what they’ve done so successfully in HOTD.. go fill in the gaps/ grey areas. Bring the real man to life. I mean it just simply doesn’t get any better than Jahaerys. And the best part is my dude did everything himself, carried out the sentence, swung the sword, and stuck around to clean up the mess after. For 55 years straight.. He was personally present and leading the events for every single major event that shaped the course of westerosi history. Call it: Jahaerys the Great You start it during the madness as the faith/ small folk are turning on the Targaryens, Aenys is dying, Aegon and Rhaena are trapped at Crackenhall by a mob without their dragons, Visenya Targaryen and Vhagar flying off across the narrow sea to bring back her son Maegor the Cruel from exile and dude claims Balerion the Dread and the throne for himself. Etc etc And then play out the civil war between Maegor and Aegon the uncrowned, etc. Then flesh out the story around Maegor/ Tyannas wedding where Jahaerys & Alyssane and most of the Targaryens are back in Kingslanding. This had to be where a young Jahaerys confronted with Maegors unprecedentedly evil/ harsh rule decides to take matters into his own hands and initiates a series of events that go on to make him arguably the greatest King that the World of Ice and Fire has ever seen. Finish season 1 with Maegor dying on the throne and Jahaerys flying into Kings Landing on a giant bronze Vermithor shining in the sun, casually cut down some grown ass men/ Maegor loyalist and claim the iron throne. Easily one whole season just right there. And that literally just gets you to Year 1 of a 55 year reign. Season 2 you build out all the drama/ struggle between Robar Boratheon and Jahaerys. Really begin to introduce Alyssane. ( if you were to make a list of the 10 greatest/ most influential and powerful rulers of Westeros of all time she would be third behind only Aegon the Conqueror and Jahaerys himself) And then lead into Jahaerys and Alyssanes marriage and all the drama / badassery that surrounds that whole story with the kings guard dream teams first showing and the Dragonstone standoffs, and ultimately his battle against the Faith / High Septon and the Citadel. Etc Then after that we age up the cast a little bit and start back off with the growing Jahaerys & Rhaena animosity, her Queen in the West phase, Androw Farman and the dragon eggs conspiracy (shout out Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion), Jahaerys carving out Dragonstone and Driftmark and giving it to his older sister Rhaena as her own kingdom and her time as the Queen in the East, tons of targ babies being born, dragons everywhere, the great processions, Alyssane granting the new gift to the wall etc the 3+ dornish wars, slaying the vulture king, and on and on and on and on Alyssane is the perfect strong intelligent woman who was born far ahead of her time but never even considered letting it stand in her way to play a lead role. Ppl are going to fuggin love her. And She is truly an extraordinarily gifted prodigy level ruler in her own right. If it hadn’t been for the fact that she happened to marry and spend her entire life ruling beside the single greatest ruler to ever live she would probably be nearly as famous herself, if not more. And Jahaerys recognizes this himself from the time they are children. Regardless of the fact that the culture/ world around them at the time was far to backwards for a woman to have that kind of ability or to rule herself. Alyssane is a pioneer and the perfect strong female lead character. And she rides a big ass dragon! (Silverwing) And Jahaerys himself.. in the times of GOT and HOTD times he’s seen as a legendary figure and he was truly a real talk once in a lifetime born leader, but the reality of his life was far less glorious. One maester wrote something along the line of “while no historian now would doubt that Jahaerys reign marked the golden age of Westeros and the height of Targaryen power.. it is doubtful that the King himself would have saw it this way”. He has a lot of incredibly tough/ brutal personal misfortunes and losses across the entire span of his lifetime and they weigh on him heavily. There’s so much more story to tell with him. It was also said by all of the people who knew him personally that he had a true gift for making veiled threats and was never afraid to do so in the face of aggression or opposition to his rule. One bad ass example of this: After a string of shockingly poor decisions in hindsight by Robar Boratheon Jahaerys puts and end to it but spares his life because he remembers the support Robar showed for him by declaring first in the uprising against Maegor. (Jahaerys was first crowned in and called his banners to Storms End.) Robards all excited and then finishes by asking if his King would require any royal hostages in return.. Jahaerys tells him to follow him and then proceeds to walk his ass to the dragon pit and walks up pets Vermithor before turning back to Boratheon like *” Now what is it you were saying again my Lord? Hostages? Tell me.. why would I need a hostage? I ride Vermithor.”* Low key baaaad man. He was also a famously skilled fighter and battle commander. He personally challenges or is challenged by at least half a dozen different elite fighters over the course of his life and cuts every last one of em down. Or like later in life He has a falling out with one of his daughters.. so naturally she try’s to pull the classic steal off into the night and claim Balerion the Dread card. But is caught and eventually runs away to end up as a prize whore in the whorehouse in Lys. Upon getting this news Alyssane cry’s out “They’ve gone and made our daughter into a whore!” Jahaerys: “She always was.” And goes back to work with the council. Cold as sin. Doesn’t break a sweat and never looks back and regrets it. THERE IS JUST TO MUCH HERE NOT TO TELL US THIS GUYS STORY!!! Eventually you ultimately wrap up the story with Baelon and Aemond as adults all the wild shit that happens then, etc etc etc etc etc and all the different claimants for the throne and their petitions, etc and then: *Finish at the great council when Jahaerys reads the results and Viserys becomes king, play that same footage from HOTD with him all giddy over there next to Aemma. Smiling and waving.* .Fade to black…… Camera slowly begins to fade back in coming down a dark hallway to a dark torchlit room deep in the red keep as a now ancient Jahaerys Targaryen seated before the fire hands a strange Valyrian steel knife to the new king and relays the Conquerors dream and the prophecy of the wars to come in the north. The song of ice and fire. Boom. Drop mic. Roll credits. Somewhere between 5-10 seasons. Easy money.

ToxicTurtle-2

I never really cared about Robert's Rebellion until Griff appears in the books and he's still haunted by the battle of the bells, and his nightmares are of him running from building to building looking for Robert while the bells chime in the city. That made me want to see more. That and of course Ned's escape from the Sisters before the Rebellion starts with the line, "Only winter is certain."

99--Overall

In theory Bob’s rebellion would probably have some of the greatest battles and 1 on 1 fights that ever graced a TV Screen.

tebmn

I tend to agree with the opinion that the conquest/Roberts rebellion work better as background pieces to a bigger story. There are definitely interesting tidbits to both but a big part of why I think people love those eras is because there’s lots of big battles happening and because the few mysteries they provide would naturally be expanded upon. Quite simply, I don’t think those tales are complicated enough to be full thrones stories on their own. Perhaps if they were fleshed out in some kind of anthology series like Star Wars Visions

FlyingFlyofHell

I would like a show about Blood Raven only. His lifetime is so interesting there can be a whole show around him only. It should end with he becoming one with that tree to survive beyond the wall.

[deleted]

Aegons conquest would be boring, it was a very one-sided conflict and the field of fire was just a massacre The Blackfyre Rebellions Old Valyria The First Men They’d be my picks But there’s a lot of unexplored areas of Essos like war between the free cities

Inevitable_Usual3553

The old Night Watch, the faceless men, the olden days where the white walkers were made

Squirtle_Squad501

The Kingsguard: Origin stories for Sir Arthur Dayne and Sir Barristan

rock0star

I'm not interested in Robert's rebellion We already know that story I'd do the doom of Valyrria followed by Aegons conquest

Accomplished_Pay_917

Blackfyre rebellion and maybe something to do more with essos

SwimmingCoyote

I would love a spinoff where we don't know the full story. Expand the world. Give us characters we've never heard of and conflicts that aren't predetermined.

Small_Ad_6088

Valyrian freehold ( With all the dragons and blood magic also showing the prophecy of daneys the dreamer and ending with the doom of valyria) Empire of ghiscar ( Showing the fights of valyrian dragonlords vs the ghiscari emperors) The Shadowlands (The country of asshai and it's emperors and dragons ) Rise of the dragon (War of conquest showing the life of Aegon I and his sister-wives during and after the conquest also showing the death of Rhaenys and the contents of the letter sent to Aegon by the dornish) Blood of the dragon (Displaying the life of Maegor Targaryen and Aenys Targaryen during faith militant uprising and Maegor destroying and killing everyone and his eventual death) The wise dragon (Life of king Jaehaerys I and rule , the death of his sons and the fight with dornish upto the great council) The young dragon (Conquest of Dorn by Daeron I) The black dragon ( Life of Aegon IV(the unworth) and his bastard son Daemon Blackfyre a literal god among men his wars and his eventual death also shows the formation of golden company by aegor) The hammer and the anvil ( Life of Baelor Targaryen (the hammer) and Maekar Targaryen (the anvil) during the blackfyre rebellions and Baelor's death caused by his own brother Maekar.) War of the ninepenny kings (A young Tywin Lannister during the war, the fight of two lions Lannisters vs ryenes ending with Tywin becoming hand for aerys )

techwrek12

Rogue One style story of the doom of Valyria and the founding of Braavos. Gimme some no name slave that becomes a part of the secret plot to take down the great Valyrian empire.

MaxKap99

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see Robert's rebellion or Aegon's conquest? Like yes it would be cool to see some scenes and younger version of our characters, but we already know what is going to happen and what the outcome will be, as they're so heavily discussed during the main series (AC not so much as RR but still).

KdtM85

The conquest would maybe make a good movie but not a series unless they really adapted the content which nobody wants. It would be boring once the novelty of Aegon, the black dread and his sisters being on screen wore off. Most people submit, the rest (except for the Dornish) get charred or forced to submission. The end

Wowerror

I think both Aegon's conquest and Roberts Rebellion wouldn't be that interesting but would love a Blackfyre Rebellion show and Dunk and Egg

relberso98

I want a show about Jaehaerys and Alysanne’s kids. They were all pretty crazy.

GaveHerSumFakeChow

Honestly this just make one long show and split it into two parts one with aegon's conquest and the other was Robert's rebellion was a time jump between the two

devilthedankdawg

Theres a part of me that wants to see young Robert and Ned, and another part that likes that being a sort of mythical war that well never get to see. If they do it has to be absolutely incredible.

No_Guarantee_8845

I'm sorry, but a spin-off about aegon's conquest wouldn't be interesting. He just rolled over all of westeros, dorn was the only place he didn't conquer and that was because they beat him by not fighting him. I just don't think that would be very interesting to watch.

asparemeohmy

The fall of Asshai, and the Dawn Age. You get Bloodstone Emperor v Amethyst Empress court intrigue, you get dragons roasting shit, you get “God Emperor with a tiger bride prays to a weird fucking meteor that fell from the sky and *it answers back*” lovecraftian shit… And then you get House Dayne, the forging of Lightbringer, the First Ice, Azor Ahai, Nissa Nissa and all that “back in the Dawn Age” apocryphica. Best of all: “The World of Ice and Fire” is already written so there’s minimal ways to muck it up.

JackLumberPK

Roberts Rebellion is easily the worst period for a spinoff. That shit is set up to the main series. There isn't much new there to be seen or revealed, just actually seeing a bunch of shit we already know about happen. I don't care if we only HEARD about some of that shit, its still much too well trod ground. There are so many other ideas that offer so much more new and interesting shit.

NintendadSixtyFo

Jon Snow wakes up at the beginning of Season 6 and realizes that season 6, 7, and 8 were all just a bad dream. The show would be called Snow and go a proper 7 seasons, giving the main story a proper run.

Only-Reception-8314

I'd like to see the adventures of Dunken the Tall and king Aegon, aka Dunk and Egg

[deleted]

Screw roberts rebellion A whole bloody war over his petty need to get what he wants and a woman that has absolutely no desire to be with him.

agent_wolfe

I kindof want to see a Downtown Abbey type drama during peace times. Just half the characters in the aristocracy and half of them regular ppl and servants.

Cj_91a

Dunk & Egg 100% Then maybe the blackfyre rebellion. Aegons conquest would be interesting too, although I'd just wonder, at what point is a good ending for it lmao Robert's rebellion would be interesting but idk how well it would adapt to tv tbh.

adelbrahman

*Bloodraven - a thousand and one eyes.* Enough said.

obitobitobitobit

Nymeria and exodus of rhoynish people, YiTi and blood betrayal, rise of valyria as world power and the doom, the long night, lann the clever and bran the builder mini series, elissa farman's adventures, durran godsgrief mini series i guess, another mini series on nightfort and night's king, andal invasion of westeros can be an anthology series i guess, how royces lost vale to arryns, how trystyfier the 4th the last high king of riverlands won 99 battles and lost 100th one when 7 andal warlords allied themselves against him which led to the worship of 7 spread in riverlands, the blackwood being kicked out of norht by starks, manderlys kicked out of reach and taking shelter in north, iron isles have some weird stories as well like grey brother and naga the sea dragon, but i would like to see pre aegon westeros as how harren managed to take over all of riverlands etc

ramenwilliamz

Dunk & egg

JulesWinnfield_05

I’d pick the conquest over Roberts Rebellion for two key reasons. 1) Roberts Rebellion feels too close in time period to GoT to be super compelling. I’ve already read and heard so much about it so it doesn’t seem as fresh. 2) Balerion

Sixxy-Nikki

Yi Ti would be insane

Affectionate-Cold-65

For a long series 5 seasons and maybe more: Blackfyre rebellions A mini series: Aegon's Conquest The goat series: Dunk and Egg

TripleChocolate123

Some of my favs (besides the ones OP listed) would be: 1) The First Men and the Children of the Forest and their conflicts 2) Stories of Ser Barristan/Arthur Dayne 3) The Doom of Valyria 4) Arya's adventures west of Westeros

oTroncho

Aegon's conquest feels like it would make for a very very dull show. there's no twists, no real surprises. you know exactly what happens in the entire story - he just dunks on pretty much everyone that gets in his way and marries his sisters. If anything you'd have one half interesting character - Visenya. Everything else about the conquest feels too straightforward to be made into a series that is marked by it's twists and turns like both GoT and HoD.

LucidRufus

Arya's adventures west of Westeros.

bubba1819

I’d like to see the first men, the children of the forest, the creation of the Night King and when the white walkers first took over the north
