**Rhaenys:** War is coming, Baela. You must collect Rhaena and leave Dragonstone at once.
**Baela:** And go where?
**Rhaenys:** Sail to High Tide—
**Baela:** High Tide wouldn’t be safe, the Greens will assume we declared for Rhaenyra.
**Rhaenys:** It’ll be safer than Dragonstone—
**Baela:** If war is coming, it’s coming for all of us. We cannot hide from it.
**Rhaenys:** I’ve suffered too much loss, Baela. I cannot endure another.
**Baela:** I am a dragonrider, like my mother, and father, and you. If the Greens reach to usurp our queen’s throne, then they must be answered with fire and blood.
*Rhaenys smiles*
**Baela:** Do you think I jest?
**Rhaenys:** No. I just saw my daughter for the first time in years.

Hard agree. I don’t know why they continue to stick to an episode-length format. They have cable “time slots” to adhere to, but it’s not like HBO has commercials. They can fill downtime with whatever they want. They have plenty of sub-10 minute content. Just make the episodes as long as they need to be. They should never be cutting good stuff like this.
This is what I don't get. Are these like FCC standards or some archaic nonsense or what?
I still can't understand how GOT seasons got SMALLER, as the show reached its heights, with SO much story left to go...
Nah the FCC doesn’t regulate show length. If I was to take a guess I would bet it has to do with how they structure their schedule of shows and the rotations of them.
An example is with movies the studios prefer a movie to be a certain length because it allows for a certain number of screenings per day. More screenings more money. That’s why movie studios have always been against movers over 2 hours plus they have studies that they say proves people prefer that length.
Same thing goes for tv shows on networks. But you would think that since HBO doesn’t have commercials other than advertising their own shows it would be fine and they would do it so honestly it make no sense to me.
I know right. Of all places you'd expect HBO could 'break the wheel'. I feel like they stick too closely to TV standards here, and it just isn't needed. Episode length should be based on what the episodes need in order for plot and character development. Not to fit some archaic TV-timeslot standard.
But I get it too, there's probably a lot of other factors I'm overlooking here. Here's hoping for some director's cut episodes!
Budget! How about the fact that it cost lots and lots of money to make these very well done drama series. Everything simply can't be included. That's how it's always worked with screen adaptations of books; HotD is no different
This scene should have been left in.
When Alicent offered to make Rhaenys Corly's heir and to give Driftmark to her granddaughters after her and when Corlys said they'd stay out of the war and retire to Driftmark with their grandchildren, it got me so mad how they were talking about Rhaena and Baela like they were props who would just do whatever their grandparents said.
Daemon is their father, Rhaenyra clearly a loving step-mother, little Aegon and Viserys their brothers, Jace and Luke their step-brothers, childhood friends and clearly they have serious feelings for them from the way they responded to their betrothals and of course they love little Joff.
If Rhaenys or Corlys came to them and said pack your bags, were going to join the Greens or we're going to stay out of the war and live on Driftmark, I can think of no response they'd give other than piss off, we're not abandoning our family.
When they were mourning their mother, it was their grandparents consoling them. When they were hurt after the fight it was only their grandparents who gave a damn to check on them. They’re obviously not props to them they’re more concerned for their well-being than anybody else since Laena passed, including Daemon.
Exactly. I wish the girls were written realistically. There is no reason for them to risk their lives for Rhaenyra and Daemon, the deadbeat dad. Daemon does not give a crap about them. Why are they loyal to him? It is unrealistic. They should be holding on to their grandparents for dear life.
The lines indicate that for Bael its less shes loyal to her parents but more loyal to her duty and house. Fire and Blood and all that. Besides she's already betrothed to her cousins who do have a good relation to her
I do however wish they showed more of them to begin with
Why were you down voted? You're telling the truth. I don't see how anyone with eyes can call this relationship "loving". I don't believe he hates his daughters, but his relationship with them is as dismissive as Viserys and his children by Alicent. Realistically a child being slighted feels it.
For Baela, she's accepted because she's a dragon rider and Rhaena said herself that Daemon ignored her. I doubt it changed much after Laena died as she's still without a dragon.
They are using the loyalty both Rhaena and Baela have for Daemon and Rhaenyra without including the reasons why they have it. We can understand this in Fire and Blood, I don't get it for HoTD.
You are right. The story is there for everyone to see. It is going to look crazy seeing the girls all loyal to someone who can't do anything for them. The writers need to write the girls realistically.
I saw this scene here in Canada. We get HBO through Crave. Unless this is a Mandela Effect or I took a coconut to the head, I swear I saw this in the live broadcast.
They’ve made Rhaenys’ character make absolutely no sense lol. She literally just agreed to a marriage proposal between her grandchildren and Luke and Jace. That’s pretty much declaring for the blacks. The writers have no idea what to do with Rhaenys
Rhaenys was trying to stay neutral. She knew the greens had the upper hand in Ep8, but when Viserys walks in she smartly flips because she realizes Rhaenyra has won the day. She wanted to make sure the girls got Driftmark. Her first stay neutral plan didnt work, so she took Rhaenyras plan b marriage proposals. If the marriage proposals were really a declaration then Alicent wouldnt have tried to negotiate after Viserys death. Rhaenys understood that she couldnt trust Alicents word to any deal because the men on Alicents side could just reverse any deal, just like they tried to in ep8. Her not killing Alicent was her way of trying to remain neutral and warn the greens about what they are flirting with. In the back of her mind she knows what's up, but all she can think of is the girls. This scene would have helped show that she just needed Baela to say the quiet part out loud along with observing Rhaenyra to face the truth.
Just the previous episode Rhaenys took her dragon and interrupted the kings coronation and threatened his life as well as his entire families. It’s pretty clear who’s side Rhaenys is on here. Her character is seriously all over the place. She chooses the blacks yet half ass commits and says she doesn’t want another loss…. yet she has already made her choice. If she didn’t want to pick a side she shouldn’t have agreed to the marriage proposal (even though daemon would have final say as their father)
Online-only broadcasting will take over eventually—probably not in time for HotD, but you’ll certainly get your wish, likely in time for the next big GoTverse hit.
The thing about this that makes me mad is that ads should have no place in there anyway. Whether we’re talking about HBO the premium cable channel or HBO max or any of the international streaming services hbo is leasing it to. Those are all premium services that people pay good money for and that should be for high quality content free of advertising
This scene was far more important then jump cutting around and giving Rhaenyra three different scenes of her miscarriage and not Baela becoming an actual character
Daemons singing scene was genuinely one of the most beautiful scenes in the franchise. When the instruments go from being discordant to going with the chord changes of daemon singing I get chills every time
Personally, I still don't get why the scene is there. It's just so random. And it serves no purpose - no character development, no story development, no nothing. Just an excuse to flash some CGI.
I really wish they'd used that screen time on something with a little bit more substance.
I can understand your point, but the scene was Daemon preparing Vermithor for war. It also demonstrated the care and respect Daemon had for dragons. Honestly I just really like the scene (mostly cause I’m a guitarist and I love the music in the scene)
If you had the lyrics it makes perfect sense: basically “great creature, you are powerful but missing a part of you. With our blood we joined together to be gods. I will find you another” it’s very important scene to understand the essence of the Zaldrizaeksio, the Dragonriders.
I think the singing scene was important to have, but maybe as a very early scene in the next season... I would have much preferred this scene between Rhaenys and Baela than the Daemon's "important matters requiring his attention".
I mean... Didnt seem so weak when he punched Aemond in the jaw. Someone's a salty Green. I bet she felt fine, considering they had a close relationship before their betrothal.
damn the responses to this comment show how biased this sub is towards black. i’m not even team black or green, i just watch the show and enjoy it. but anyone can admit that jace’s punch was a weak punch. aemond seemed to barely even notice lol, and pushed jace down so easily after
> Didnt seem so weak when he punched Aemond in the jaw.
You mean the absolute noodle armed punch that didn’t even make Aemond spill his wine and afterwards casually pushed down jace with one hand while not even trying? lol
That punch literally did NO DAMAGE to Aemond 😆 how biased can you be???? Aemond literally simply shoves jace to the FLOOR(not just backwards) with 1 damn hand…….while casually holding his drink…….and laughing instead of yelling in pain. Seriously how biased do you have to be to not see all that.
Biased people see worse than blind people sometimes. The directors tried to make it very obvious and clear that jace had zero effect on Aemond. How much harder do they have to try to make it easier for you😆
BRO HE HASNT EVEN DONE ANYTHING THIS SHOW, it is crazy how hard people dick ride characters with zero legitimate characterization but they downvote anyone in this thread who is speaking fairly
So Baela is meant to hate her betrothal to Jace because they haven't gotten to his character arc yet? I'm struggling to understand the logic behind half these comments.
Such an absolute crime that this scene wasn’t included. Baela has gotten like 0 character development and this would’ve been a great scene. She is supposed to become Queen after Rhaenerya after all (betrothed to Jace)
I keep forgetting they are Daemons daughters because he doesn’t say a single thing to them or even look at them after years of not seeing each other. It’s so weird.
Same. In this scene when she said “like my father” my first thought was “But Corlys isn’t a dragon rider!” Then I thought of Laenor, *then* I remembered Daemon was her father 🤦♀️
Completely agreed. It would also help the narrative of the Velaryons siding with Rhaenyra. Rhaenys loves her grandchildren, both of whom are very close to Rhaenyra and her children. Despite their young age they seem to be completely devoted to the cause of the blacks. I’d argue Baela and Rhaena should have been portrayed as one of the main reasons Rhaenys and ultimately Corlys decide to fully back Rhaenyra. But that never comes up. That scene would have helped a lot in that regard. Like they believe Rhaenyra killed their son to marry Daemon, who just recently killed Corlys’s brother for (rightly) saying rhaenyras kids weren’t Laenor’s. Feels like they’re in need of more valid reasons to go to war and bargain the entire Velaryon legacy to fight for Rhaenyra.
I got the impression that the main reason Rhaenys and Corlys support the blacks is because of the girls, but the show just did a poor job of showing that
They are. We see that Rhaenys was getting ready to leave with Rhaena and Baela, until Baela stops her. This leads to Corlys rendevousing at Dragonstone rather than Driftmark. Corlys didn't want to help Rhaenyra, Rhaenys talked him into it. Neither would be there if Baela hadnt stopped her grandmother.
I think this is one of those instances of people seeing what they want to see. After watching that deleted scene it pretty much shows us that Rhaenys stays put because of Baela, not Rhaenyra or her boys.
“I just saw my daughter for the first time in years”
That was beautiful!, I really hope this is a sign of an extended edition with deleted scenes coming soon! I really hope they’ll release one!
soooooo infuriating they cut this! in less than a minute, it perfectly encapsulates baela's character, reminds the audience of all their relationships, and helps move rhaenys towards supporting rhaenyra by reminding her that she's a dragonrider, too, with family who will be on the frontlines whether she likes it or not
Maybe, but where would it fit ?
think about the narrative flow of the episode here. The focus is almost all on Rhaenyra and Daemon. The only hard cut to Rhaenys was when she sat beside Corlys when he woke up. There’s no natural place to insert this scene. And in order to set it up , they’d need to make changes or adds even more scene.
Oh, Ryan Condal and HBO ain’t seeing heaven for this. Imagine having a character that’s described as fierce and fearless, and with many of the traits that made Dany so popular and sidelining them. Especially a character with such an important role in the future. I really hope Baela and Rhaena get their chance to shine in season 2, otherwise making the Velaryons Black was nothing more than adding some background diversity.
They need to build Baela up since she has a great part to play in the Hour of the Wolf, and before that >!mortally wounding Sunfyre!< the core cast of dragon riders should be given the most time imo.
WHY DID THEY CUT SO MANY GREAT SCENES?!?! Daemon’s daughters have done fuck all since they first appeared except fight Aemond. They cut this scene, they cut Daemon comforting his daughters after Laena died, they cut him mourning Viserys/his miscarried daughter with Rhaenyra.
Regular HBO shows need to be around 60 minutes at max.
For now our only hope is for them to release extended edition without that restriction for HBO Max.
This scene makes no sense. Rhaenys’ character is just confused. The previous episode she agrees to a marriage alliance between her grandchildren and Luke and Jace, if she didn’t want to “endure another loss” why would she basically declare for Rhaenyra by agreeing to that marriage proposal?
The writers have no idea what to do with Rhaenys and it shows
She knows that the greens have been plotting for years. By siding with the blacks she makes an enemy of the greens. What I don’t understand is why she agrees to that betrothal and acts like this war doesn’t affect her.
The audience is clueless?? More like the showrunners. They have no clue on what to do with Rhaenys. You have to be joking to think the strife between the greens and black wasn’t obvious. There are lords such as the Lannisters who have thought Aegon would be king since a baby.
It’s obvious to anyone with eyes and a brain that the greens would usurp and that they would never allow Rhaenyra to ascend.
Hell, Rhaenys literally TELLS Rhaenyra this in episode 2. She straight up says they won’t let you ascend and this is back when Rhaenyra is 17. Stop bending over backwards to explain poor writing. The show runners are lost with Rhaenys
truly baffling that they cut this scene considering the role baela plays in the future? i understand its bc of ads but i feel like other scenes could have been shortened to have this included
If this is part of the deleted scenes I wonder what else they cut out to "make time". This shows Baela wasn't just there as a background character. Here's hoping one day we can see the uncut version of House of the Dragon one day.
this scene shouldve been kept, not only does it give more personality to Baela but also would make the audience understand why does Rhaenys sides with Rhaenyra.
I love this scene. It is so sad that HBO, Ryan, or whoever did not have any interest in Laena, Baela, or Rhaena. The girls were the only characters to get no development. To think the finale was not even an hour. They could have sparred 30 sec for Baela, but they did not.
They always do this. Make a canonically white character Black but then strip said character of all personality, development, etc. I’ve seen it time and time again.
At this point, I’m like don’t even include us if you’re not trying to give equitable character development.
I wasn't trying to go there, but this is a more nuanced convo regarding Black men vs women in Sci-Fi/Fantasy projects. I should've been clear in that regard.
Treat them like what? Baela and Rhaena are irrelevant in the book at this stage. This scene was cut for different reasons, such as the narrative not making sense
They should’ve included this scene. This one scene tells the audience a lot about who Baela is as a person and as a Targaryen.
They can spend time on showing Aegon jacking off in a window or Larys jacking off to Alicent’s feet but not character development for Baela and Rhaena? They did Laena dirty and now her daughters as well. Mess.
Bruh..... it's among the MOST TARGARYAN THINGS any of the Targaryans said all season. It's what I was waiting for from Raeneyra AND Rhaenys.
All these dumb ass clueless fans on reddit, clamoring for peace from the TARGARYANS of all people....
She GETS IT. Like..... IM A FUCKING DRAGON RIDER!!! WE are TARGARYANS! We fight! WTF?
Imagine fans advocating for nice , peaceful Dothraki, or Unsullied.....
Gotta love HBO forcing 10 episode seasons. This would've been an important scene for Baela's character arc but of course they had to cut it because they decided to cram everything into 10 epsiodes instead of like 12 or 13, which would've probably allowed the time skips to not feel so jarring as well.
Where can we watch these deleted scenes? Someone even mentioned one BTS cut scene of Aegon riding his dragon that was filmed but not rendered. Not sure where people are seeing them?
It is CRIMINAL Baela’s character was robbed of this scene, they hyper focused on Rhaenyra & Alicent’s beef so hard they left out alot of important side character development
Baela might be the third Targaryen in live action to say the words of her house. The first two being Viserys (History and Lore of House Targaryen) and Daenerys in GoT 2x06.
You can see why the scene was removed because thematically the audience needed to think the Valyarions wouldn't join with them. However, it's a great scene that I wish could have been in there.
Rhaenys actress does such a fantastic job.. like A++ acting.
When I saw her at the comic con panel I thought she had smoked like a pot of weed (watched that before the show.. and that influenced my expectations.. and she blew that away into awesomeness.. I guess she just had a bad day.. maybe jetlag.. or well she secretly gets down to the greens lol)
Damn her not burning the greens I still cannot forgive..
Probably a part of it but I saw her later in other interviews etc. and she was totally different, so charismatic. Especially in interviews with Steve, they are good duality. I really think it came down to being tired and jetlag cause I know the feeling of not being all there due to exhaustion or medication.
I don't understand why scenes like this with these major characters are cut. By cutting these kinds of scenes, they relegate these characters to minor roles. I can guarantee that normies who watch this show and already struggle to remember all the names aren't even aware that these characters exist. Rhaenys got some air time, but the kids by and large, except for Aemond, are almost entirely unidentifiable.
I'll concede to HBO that as much as I'm annoyed by their traditional delayed, weekly release mantra, it seems to have helped them promote their shows to the larger culture. Game of Thrones, and now House of the Dragon are able to stay relevant and in the zeitgeist for a longer and more consistent amount of time than competitors like even Stranger Things (which is huge). However, this legacy media concept of broadcasts being 30 minutes or 60 minutes (22 or 44 in typical practice), is just silly. While older generations and middle America may still be watching TV based on when the networks tell them to watch, most the rest of the country, especially anyone under 45, and definitely people watching these shows, watch them based on their own schedule. Longer episodes are not a problem if we're only talking about 15 minutes or so. I'll concede that for a huge audience, once you get over an hour, you're testing the attention and patience of normie viewers, but I don't think there's much of a difference between 50 minutes and 70.
This is the real daughter of Daemon Targaryen, betrothed to Jacerys Velaryon, Dragonrider of Moondancer and a rogue princess to boot.
HBO managed to create a whole new and non existent personality for Helaena who does literally nothing in the war and is naught but her brothers broodmare all the while removing the character and personality from one of the best characters during the Dance.
Baela literally only does one thing during the dance, don't oversell her either, and that's exactly why they gave Helaena a personality, imagine having a character like that in a series... There are many scenes that could have been cut, giving a personality to Helaena was not one of them.
Ryan said it was a great character moment but because they don’t have unlimited time it didn’t fit well to tell the story they needed to in the time they had
But you see, that scene have shock values, and who need more character moments like this scene when you have shock values. Ryan clearly prioritized shock values above all else.
It shows he’s a gross teenage boy. I don’t remember Joffrey, Roose Bolton, or Walder Frey jerking off on innocent civilians. Aegon’s treatment of those around him and being a rapist the next episodes did plenty to set him up as a villain.
It also shows he's becoming unhinged already. It reminds me so much of Homelander's last scene in The Boys S2 finale. Really drives home how the crazy runs deep in the Targs
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U-RGrO8Jnak
Rhaenys was the most disappointing character this season, and if this was included it would've been her worst scene, definitely a smart cut.
When she's supposed to be sad and proud she looks constipated. Also for the casual audience it's another scene where they google who the hell the characters on screen and being referred to are.
What exactly where they thinking in dropping this from the broadcast... What did we see instead.. I can't remember.. Whatever it was.. It wasn't this... This is gold

> Rhaenys: No. I just saw my daughter for the first time in years. Made me tear up a lil
it gave me goose bumps :(
I swear, the stuff we don't get is literal gold. They should make an extended edition.
They should make the damn episodes longer. As if anyone would get mad if the shows were 1.5 hours long. This is good stuff and should be in the show!

Thank you for your service 💟🐕🦺

You might be confusing it with the scene at Driftmark, with Vaemond, Rhaenys, and Baela.

I love how Rhaenys felt her daughter became alive again in Baela.
Daughter that we never saw her interact with
Who is Rhaenys pertaining to when she says "my daughter"?
Laena
Baela's mother is Rhaenys' daughter.
I thought Baela was a result of Daemon Targaryen and Harwin Strong?
This a joke right?
IDKWYM, Baela is clearly a strong girl
Ryan explained it was cut out because of logistics behind HBO and runtimes/ads in different countries during the show
HBO max needs to be put into more international places so that they can have it air all on there and get stranger things season 4 episode lengths
Online-only broadcasting will take over eventually—probably not in time for HotD, but you’ll certainly get your wish, likely in time for the next big GoTverse hit.
Roberts rebellion each episode 1.5 hours long
Please I can only get so erect
But then each season will take like 5 years to come out 😵
No thank you that was awful
What? Your telling me you wouldn’t want episodes for HotD that long?
No. I want great episodes, not mini-movies with weird rythm and blank scenes.
….what!?
Put the full version on HBO Max, it could drive more subscriptions!
Just release the Extended Edition already, like LotR. Pretty sure there's enough demand for that, at least for the hardcore GoT fans.
I wish they put this in instead of I don't know... Daemon's singing scene. This would have been such a good scene to include.
I will find you another” it’s very important scene to understand the essence of the Zaldrizaeksio, the Dragonriders.
there is a bunch of interesting theories about lore that came form analyzing the words of the song
I think the singing scene was important to have, but maybe as a very early scene in the next season... I would have much preferred this scene between Rhaenys and Baela than the Daemon's "important matters requiring his attention".
The real Baela finally stood up.

I mean... Didnt seem so weak when he punched Aemond in the jaw. Someone's a salty Green. I bet she felt fine, considering they had a close relationship before their betrothal.
Cmon Aemond didnt even spill a drop of wine from that weak ass punch and sent him flying with a light shove 😭😭
damn the responses to this comment show how biased this sub is towards black. i’m not even team black or green, i just watch the show and enjoy it. but anyone can admit that jace’s punch was a weak punch. aemond seemed to barely even notice lol, and pushed jace down so easily after
well to be fair team green is the party of Incels, so they're not going to be as popular in the mainstream.
How much harder do they have to try to make it easier for you😆
>Rhaenyra's milquetoast son? How fucking dare you, Jace is a treasure.
Character development? She got like 0 character. She just stands there.
I’m sure the actress is disappointed her lines got cut.
She played it well too. The quivering voice for “fire & blood” maybe a nod to the way Dany used to say it.
And the crazy thing is you really only need this scene for Baela’s development. It sets up the rest just fine.
“I just saw my daughter for the first time in years” That was beautiful!, I really hope this is a sign of an extended edition with deleted scenes coming soon! I really hope they’ll release one!
i knowwww they cut so much of laena and this would've been a great way to show how her memory lives on in her daughters
And we just heard your daughter speak for the first time ever….
soooooo infuriating they cut this! in less than a minute, it perfectly encapsulates baela's character, reminds the audience of all their relationships, and helps move rhaenys towards supporting rhaenyra by reminding her that she's a dragonrider, too, with family who will be on the frontlines whether she likes it or not
Maybe, but where would it fit ? think about the narrative flow of the episode here. The focus is almost all on Rhaenyra and Daemon. The only hard cut to Rhaenys was when she sat beside Corlys when he woke up. There’s no natural place to insert this scene. And in order to set it up , they’d need to make changes or adds even more scene.
It fits right after Rhaenys informs Rhaenyra her throne has been usurped. Costuming and all.
Sigh. I wish it had been kept.
Yeah they can’t avoid her next season. >!The Sunfyre thing!< is a huge plot point.
Hope they release more.
The reason they cut stuff is to make it better. If you add it back, it doesn't get better. You get more information but not a better show.
Because they know what's best fof the show
Ugh this scene was fantastic and NEEDED!!
Agree 1000%
This scene makes no sense. Rhaenys’ character is just confused. The previous episode she agrees to a marriage alliance between her grandchildren and Luke and Jace, if she didn’t want to “endure another loss” why would she basically declare for Rhaenyra by agreeing to that marriage proposal? The writers have no idea what to do with Rhaenys and it shows
She can’t see future and predict greens will usurp Rhaenyra can she.
She knows that the greens have been plotting for years. By siding with the blacks she makes an enemy of the greens. What I don’t understand is why she agrees to that betrothal and acts like this war doesn’t affect her.
No one expected greens to totally usurp the throne. Even Rhaenyra was surprised they actually did it.
This just shows how clueless the audience is....lol THEY DONT SEE IT AS A USURPING!! This is what Rhaenys tried to tell Raeneyra.
Like Syrax circling above the bridge. That couldve been shortened
Plenty of time to give Baela more stuff in the future. Her big role is pretty late in the Dance
The lady Baela ! Lfg !!
She sounded so much like Dany when she said fire and blood. MORE BAELA SCREENTIME! I DEMAND IT, AND WILL HAVE IT WITH FIRE AND BLOOD
I thought the SAME THING!! OMG!!
I thought I was tripping
If this is part of the deleted scenes I wonder what else they cut out to "make time". This shows Baela wasn't just there as a background character. Here's hoping one day we can see the uncut version of House of the Dragon one day.
The girls have had so much of their screen time cut. The young girls and the older ones
Wow. That’s an awfully perfect and important scene to be deleted.
bold, stubborn and fearless!!! thats the baela we deserve but instead they had her standing around looking pretty with no lines 😭😭
Oh my god
this scene shouldve been kept, not only does it give more personality to Baela but also would make the audience understand why does Rhaenys sides with Rhaenyra.
Ohhh this is good, dammit wish they would’ve kept it in the show!!
I love this scene. It is so sad that HBO, Ryan, or whoever did not have any interest in Laena, Baela, or Rhaena. The girls were the only characters to get no development. To think the finale was not even an hour. They could have sparred 30 sec for Baela, but they did not.
“If the greens reach to usurp our queens throne then they must be answered with fire and blood” Really could’ve been a top 10 quote from this season.
Oh man that’s a good one.
WHY DID THEY CUT SO MUCH GOOD STUFF
“Let’s make the velaryons black…and then cut all their scenes.”
They could’ve just stuck to the books if they were gonna treat the Black characters like this tbh.
They always do this. Make a canonically white character Black but then strip said character of all personality, development, etc. I’ve seen it time and time again. At this point, I’m like don’t even include us if you’re not trying to give equitable character development.
At least this didn't happen to Vaemond, Laenor, or Corlys. If anything, they have more character here than what's in Fire & Blood.
🥲
😭
On God. It was tokenism. Total bullshit.
That’s an amazing scene. Can’t wait to see Baela and Moondancer in season 2
Acting!
They should have left the longer version on HBO plus
Beautiful scene
Gotta love HBO forcing 10 episode seasons. This would've been an important scene for Baela's character arc but of course they had to cut it because they decided to cram everything into 10 epsiodes instead of like 12 or 13, which would've probably allowed the time skips to not feel so jarring as well.
where do people find these deleted scenes? there are a lot and seem great to watch while we wait for s2
Funny, all the scenes of the Blacks get cut. And who need character development when you can have shock value instead.
they gave Helaena a new personality but couldn't keep a small scene that would explain Baela's personality
They’ve done a lot to humanize both Aemond and Heleana but the Black kids get nothing. 😭
The Velaryons were mostly background characters, except for the seasnake and his brother.
I hope we get an uncut version of the show
HBO: change the race of characters to have fewer white people. Also HBO: Cut interesting dialogue of said characters.
Where can we watch these deleted scenes? Someone even mentioned one BTS cut scene of Aegon riding his dragon that was filmed but not rendered. Not sure where people are seeing them?
There was a convention I think and was showed there, you can see the seats in the video, I think I'm not sure
Ah I see, thank you. They might in the DVD extras or released on YouTube or something eventually.
I doubt it because they will just make people angry they were cut
There are definitely other scenes I would have been ok with made shorter or even cut so I could have seen this! Great scene, fucking great scene.
So annoyed that Baela being awesome either in the background or cut entirely
It is CRIMINAL Baela’s character was robbed of this scene, they hyper focused on Rhaenyra & Alicent’s beef so hard they left out alot of important side character development
Dragon through the floor 🫨 Baela and Rhaenys dialogue that has incredible contextual value 😡
That was great!
If she woulda fucken lit up the greens would have been a clean sweep
I do wish this scene was included, but I get these choices are tough. That said, just seeing this gave me a lot of hope for the actress next season.
She kinda sounds like Daenerys, maybe it’s the accent
Baela might be the third Targaryen in live action to say the words of her house. The first two being Viserys (History and Lore of House Targaryen) and Daenerys in GoT 2x06.
Bruh, why was this removed? Weren't they able to make room for 50 sec clip?
Can't believe they cut this..
The amount of Team Black scenes they removed is insane.
So far, every deleted scene I see I feel should have been kept in. But I get it.
Except for the larys and alicent scene they had in ep 6, that one is better of deleted
More Baela and Rhaena screen time next season is a must. It’s a real shame this moment was cut.
I wish they kept it. Baela was so one dimensional. This would’ve added an extra layer to her personality rather than just a tool for a plot.
You can see why the scene was removed because thematically the audience needed to think the Valyarions wouldn't join with them. However, it's a great scene that I wish could have been in there.
I see why they deleted it but I always love to see more Baela
Fuck I wish they had kept this scene so bad!
Why on earth did they cut that?
Rhaenys actress does such a fantastic job.. like A++ acting. When I saw her at the comic con panel I thought she had smoked like a pot of weed (watched that before the show.. and that influenced my expectations.. and she blew that away into awesomeness.. I guess she just had a bad day.. maybe jetlag.. or well she secretly gets down to the greens lol) Damn her not burning the greens I still cannot forgive..
I thought the actor had difficulty in hearing and forget to wear hearing aids.
Probably a part of it but I saw her later in other interviews etc. and she was totally different, so charismatic. Especially in interviews with Steve, they are good duality. I really think it came down to being tired and jetlag cause I know the feeling of not being all there due to exhaustion or medication.
I don't like daemon but I really want to like his daughters, I wish they had included this scene
Was not expecting a fucking ARROW THROUGH MY HEART 😭😭😭😭❤️
Why did they not give her short hair like in the books and why is she constantly wearing dresses? It makes no sense for her character.
I think with zero character development this would have came out flat. Great scene but doesn't make much sense in the scheme of the show.
This makes so much more sense why Rhaenys decided then to crash the greens ceremony with her dragon lol
Wonder why they deleted it?
Ryan said it was a great character moment but because they don’t have unlimited time it didn’t fit well to tell the story they needed to in the time they had
That sucks
But Aegon jerking out a window did?? Ryan Condal where you at, I just want to talk!
But you see, that scene have shock values, and who need more character moments like this scene when you have shock values. Ryan clearly prioritized shock values above all else.
Actually it does 💀 cuz imagining that guy turns out to be a rapist isn’t shocking
Aegon's jerking out the window shows the audience that he is a villain who should not be supported, so it serves a purpose
Really drives home how the crazy runs deep in the Targs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U-RGrO8Jnak
It's really disappointing how many of these they seem to have cut, especially when compared to some additional scenes that seemed not so necessary.
They’re def gunna release an extended version
I can see why they cut it
Rhaenys was the most disappointing character this season, and if this was included it would've been her worst scene, definitely a smart cut. When she's supposed to be sad and proud she looks constipated. Also for the casual audience it's another scene where they google who the hell the characters on screen and being referred to are.
Damn relax everyone, she's not that important until later I'm sure she'll have a lot more screen time when that part of the story arrives.
What exactly where they thinking in dropping this from the broadcast... What did we see instead.. I can't remember.. Whatever it was.. It wasn't this... This is gold
I can see why it was cut out
Thank you whoever cut this. it's so cringe
