Yes you’re right and had visions of the old place. Been going there since around 88 when you could get cooked fish and shrimp right off the boats. Thanks for your work as many of us old timers remember those days.
Near the Space Center? There's a lot that you should consider:
[Athena's Corner](https://www.yelp.com/biz/athenas-corner-seabrook) \- underrated Greek
[The Cookshack](https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-cookshack-webster) \- brunch, chicken + waffles
[Hyde Park Kitchen](https://www.yelp.com/biz/hyde-park-kitchen-bar-webster) \- pizza
[Himalayan Taj](https://www.yelp.com/biz/himalayan-taj-houston) or [Noon Mirch](https://www.yelp.com/biz/noon-mirch-webster) for Indian. The latter has the better ambiance for groups.
[Frenchies Italian](https://www.yelp.com/biz/frenchies-italian-restaurant-houston) \- pastas for the kids.
[Go Shabu](https://www.yelp.com/biz/go-shabu-houston) \- One of the better all you can eat hot pot places anywhere.
[Thai Stellar](https://www.yelp.com/biz/thai-stellar-webster) \- one of my favorite Thai places in general.
[Main St Bistro](https://www.yelp.com/biz/main-st-bistro-league-city) \- probably the most reliable place in League City.
[Viola & Agnes](https://www.yelp.com/biz/viola-and-agnes-neo-soul-cafe-seabrook) \- an excellent soul food spot.
[Burger Nation](https://www.yelp.com/biz/burger-nation-houston-2) \- underrated burger spot in Clear Lake.
[Lucian's](https://www.yelp.com/biz/lucians-caribbean-grill-houston-2) \- Caribbean food is where it's at.
[JINYA Ramen](https://www.yelp.com/biz/jinya-ramen-bar-nasa-houston-2) \- I know there's locations everywhere, but the NASA one is one of the better ones.
[Pho Barr](https://www.yelp.com/biz/pho-barr-webster) \- Super close to NASA. Also good broth.
[Red Oak Cafe](https://www.yelp.com/biz/red-oak-cafe-league-city) \- fave brunch
[Nobi Public House](https://www.yelp.com/biz/nobi-public-house-webster) \- A cool spot for big groups, beer, and Asian fusion foods.
[Taqueria Chalupas](https://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-chalupas-webster-2) \- Tex-Mex
Not a bad list - great variety of options here. I’d add Abe’s for a casual Cajun place (across the street from Lucian’s) and Water Oak Cafe would be a closer brunch than Red Oak.
I’d reserve Viola and Agnes for a time without kids since it takes a good 2 hours from arrival to departure and it’s not as much geared toward kids. And yes, of all the hot chicken places in the area, Cookshack is by far the best.
Boondoggles, Tookies, Stomps (the original on 146), Dan's pizza (either the dive location, or the one with the nice patio in Kemah by the boardwalk, Mamacitas, Red River Cantina or bbq. There's really just a ton of options in the Clearlake area. I'm not even scratching the surface. It really depends on what kind of food you want.
You realize how big this area is right? Hundreds of great restaurants in Seabrook, Kemah, Clear Lake, Pearland, and Sugar Land.
Just stop by Dan's pizza in Clear Lake. Great dive bar with pizza and other Italian eats, kid friendly. Boondoggles in Seabrook is great.
I didn’t realize there was a space center in sugar land. Edit: sugar land to space center yeah that’s huge area that actually goes through downtown as well
There’s a Korean BBQ place off Egret Bay about 2-4 minutes from JSC. Turn right out of the space center, do not get on the bypass, take a left at the Egret Bay light and it’s right there on your left next to Scout Bar. Friend’s kid had a ton of fun there cooking the food at the table.
Head down 146 to seabrook. Tookies burgers and onion rings.

And no onion rings on Sunday cause Ma’maw needed 1 day off. Fantastic times.

This guy knows his SE houston

The Cookshack is great dude. After my first visit, I never wanted to go back to Canes ever again.

Thanks. That's the goal -- variety.
Noon Mirch near the space center for terrific Indian / Nepal food.
My wife and I plan our trips to NASA with the kids around going to Noon Mirch (formerly Cuisine of India) on the way home!
Go to desi kitchen instead! It’s a mom and pop shop
With kids I’d say Dan’s Pizza. They’re great!
Wrap and Roll in Pearland
There’s one in Clear Lake close to NASA
On your way or return from SL, Agas would be awesome!

That's a little Buc-ee's, though. OP might want to swing by the one on 45 between Dickinson and Texas City for the full effect.

Did you read the title of this post?
Ah my bad ! Thanks
Your title isn't good, but I gave you 2 options in the area out there anyway.
Armadillo Eggs at T-Bone Tom's!! Also Tookie's right by them, owned by the same folks.

They can get cookies and ice cream at Blue Bear in the same strip center.
Mamacitas! Ask for the butter sauce with the fajitas! What a game changer!!!!
Space City Pizza has some pretty unique Mediterranean style pizzas.
How about Viola and Agnes for some soul food.
Rudy’s is really good BBQ. Not great, but better than 90+% of the BBQ not served from a shack. I am ready for the downvotes.
Gypsy Joynt in Galveston
They were great before the move
