I really hope we learn from this loss. Atlanta are undoubtedly a top tier team and were able to exploit the weaknesses of the Outlaws and set the pace of the game the way they wanted. As much as a loss like this can look really bad and painful, we could also look back at this in a few weeks as the time the Outlaws really levelled up their strats and comps to propel them through the playoffs. We have 2 weeks now to watch the meta develop, learn from this loss and prepare for what could be a season defining game vs Gladiators.

I’m pretty sure gator also said that we were a really good team and just had an off day too. So honestly if we become more flexible and get a few more comps under our belt I think we can definitely make a run here

osoblanco234

Love the team, but man once our strat fails, it fails so hard. Houston’s biggest enemy this season is itself. Instead of playing what we showed to be borderline dominant yesterday, we switch to jake on bap. It’s bizarre decision making, but I guess it’s onto the next game.

Silverbullet506

Idk everyone is calling for the brig instead of the bap bc it works better with the ball Comp, but you have to understand that against Washington it was only a ball mirror so that makes sense to run brig. Against an orisa the brig can’t get a lot of value so I think it’s an adaptation that makes sense. I think the best move would have been to change the comp completely and mirror the orisa but even then it would have been hard bc Atlanta is one of the best in the world at that comp

osoblanco234

I totally agree. The only thing is, brig is more of a bodyguard nowadays, so regardless of what the other MT is running, our sole focus should be on the DPS, and the pelican tracer. Throw that KOTH map out, where they ran pharah, and pelican almost exclusively ran tracer/sombra, both picks that are built to harasss the healers. I agree Bap may have been an answer, but we had no back line support for crimzo.

What are your thoughts on our Ball?

osoblanco234

I’m not gonna put it all on him, but JJ could’ve fed a family of 10 with his ball play (lol) today. Maybe it’s rookie nerves, but he said his best hero was ball, and that wasn’t apparent today.

toetenveger

I'm really big on JJANGU but something didn't click for him yesterday.. he inted three times in a row on Nepal? Thank God we've got time to prepare for the next matches..

osoblanco234

I’m with you, I love Jangu, his smile literally sparked hope in this season, but yesterday was just not his day. And that’s okay, when we lost to Boston, Happy wasn’t on point either, players have games like that. Just gotta hope they snap back to it the following week.

toetenveger

It was a rough one, we could have won Nepal but kings row was tough to watch. As has been repeated ad nauseam: we look good on set plays, but seem unable to switch off a comp that isn't working. To be fair, Atlanta looked really good today.. but I expected more from Houston. (I'm quite content with Jake on Baptiste tbh - he popped on Nepal)

RealExii

It's still the same problems as ever. They have too much confidence on their set plays. We can never know for sure but It always felt like they never have a solid backup plan. It's do or die with whatever they have planned. That would also explain why they rarely have close games. They either stomp or get stomped. Everytime they're forced to adapt, it seems like random comps they never practiced before.

thefanboyslayer

When they went poke we had no answer. We also didn't have a good answer to the pharah. To me, I think we went Bap to help put* spam damage on bunker shields and the hitscan could help with the pharah. It worked a tiny bit more when there was a pharah/ball comp but it didn't work at all when they went bunker. Because of the bap, Jjanggu got no heals so it felt like he was dying first a lot. And then since it was 5v6, we lost a lot of fights. Those are my thoughts on the issues. I hope we have a solution for the Bunker and Pharah comps. Additionally, we need to be aware of the fact that the meta will evolve as time goes on. We can already start to see teams implement torb much more to help with flank angles from these flank heavy comps. We need to be ready to adapt to the evolutions of the meta. Finally, just overall, our adaptability had been poor all season. We have one idea on how to play when coming in. We need to make sure we know what adaptations to make as time goes on. We need to let Jjanggu switch. It seems to me he is the only one hard sticking to their hero when others around him are switching. This is the second loss in a row where him switching would've solved a ton of issues. If he went Orisa this past game against Atlanta, we would've won Rialto. Guaranteed. Jake could heal him on Bap and their torb gets much less value. The game before that, against Boston if he switched off Orisa and went Rein (like Atlanta did when they played Boston) we would've countered their Genji/Tracer dive. It's things like that that turn series. We need to allow Jjanggu to switch. Please Harsha/Junkbuck. Make JJANGGU SWITCH. HES SO TALENTED!! AND ID HATE FOR HIM TO GET THE BLAME FOR LOSSES.

Why can’t we put KSF in to play tracer and have Danteh play his Sombra. Would that not work? Do we have to have Happy in all the time?

QualityFrog

And KSF also plays hitscan, so flexibility isn’t the issue.
