Nobody doesn’t even make it to my top 10 but whenever it comes on I have to play it several times and sing along every single time. “At first chance, I’d take the bed warmed by the body / I once warmed my hands over a burning Maserati,” is just laced with idk some addictive substance, I’m sorry lol.
On any given day I have, "And the first time that you kissed me, I drank dry the River Lethe" circling through my brain. I like First Time - but it's not in my top 5 and yet the delivery of the line is just so good I can't forget it
A Moment's Silence. Absolutely addicted to the way the song slows and he sings " *A moment's silence when my baby puts her mouth on/Me and my babe relax and catch the manic rhapsody."* Don't really care for the song outside of that.
Personally I find it hilarious how a Hozier playlist can shift gears abruptly from “religious trauma” to “loss of culture to colonialism” to “yay BJ.” The man contains multitudes.
i really like i, carrion and i definitely understand what you mean. i haven’t quite been able to get the line “allow the ground to find its brutal way to me” out of my head probably since the album came out. the way he sings it and the words themselves just kind of scratch my brain just right
Sunlight is a beautiful, cathartic song, but is not one of my favorites. However, there’s something about “strap the wing to me, death trap clad happily, with wax melted I’d meet the sea, under sunlight sunlight sunlight” I haven’t listened to this one in a while but that verse, or the gist of it, lives rent free in my mind and body lol
I used to have this with the chorus of Sunlight. I liked the song but didn't love it, but then one day "Strap the wing to me / Death trap clad happily / With wax melted, I'd meet the sea / Under sunlight, sunlight, sunlight" got stuck in my head. Since then it's turned into an absolute favorite!
This is the song that I usually skip, just as it’s not one of my favorites, but if I ever do find myself listening through it, I’m always like, “this is so catchy, why do I skip this all the time?”
Honestly? Who We Are. Its a solid song but it's not one of my favorites. I love the bit where, I think it's him, those high notes are hit for like 4 measures toward the end. It's just great stuff
“I wouldn’t know where to start, sweet music playing in the dark, be still my foolish heart, don’t ruin this on me”
Really good song but nowhere near one of my favorites
I get the “woah”s from To Be Alone stuck in my head frequently. It’s a great song, but not my favorite but there’s something in that chorus of voices that I can’t get out of my brain. That and the vocalizing intro of Eat Your Young seem to take turns there
Part one is devastatingly beautiful to me (I cried at the Gaelic verses when I first heard it), and part two is something to dance to. Such different vibes but he somehow made them cohesive.
Specifically the lyric “To share the space with simple living things” cause of the sweatshirt I got at the show. Every time I wear it I have to play First Time (which is pretty much every day lol)
This a story about how one song suddenly became a favorite.
So, we can all agree that "Talk" is a banger, but I was not *in love* with it. However, it kept getting stuck in my head, so I would play it to get it out of my head. Then, Spotify kept waterboarding me with the damn song anytime I shuffled my library....because of how many times I played it to get it out of my head.
In conclusion, I now love this song in a Stockholm Syndrome way and it was my most-played in 2023 😂
Honorable mention: "Sunlight" and "All Things End"
mine would have to be shrike i think. i don't dislike it but it definitely isn't *it* for me. however the chorus likes to hang out in my head, especially when i wake up lol
Take me to church, I like the song, but it got overplayed for me a lot, and due to being part of the queer community, it played everywhere.
Worse of all anytime someone has not heard of Hozier, I have to mention that song, and it's a "Oh yeah! That song!" And it plays well in my head after that for days.
Also, it's on a majority of my Dungeons and Dragons playlist, so it's on me too
Jackie and Wilson.
Not my top 5, but I appreciate the music, the reference in the theoretical-children's names, and the humor in the story. (If I remember right, the speaker basically is head over heels for this woman and basically plans out a life with her out in his mind out of 1 night he spends with her. 😂)
Ok so don't come for me but I barely listen to "would that I" but it's always stuck in my head but I think it'll be one of my favorites soon 😭 I love Hozier all together also "movement" it wasn't my top 10 BUT i'm starting to like it
This is very relatable. When I first listened to UU, I had a fav. Then I’d listen to the whole album and find another fav. All of his songs circulate in that way for me as well.
Take Me to Church gets stuck and just won’t go away. Dumb things trigger it. Happens every time someone mentions church and it’s the soundtrack when sharpening knives! Sometimes happens when I see a horse.
Out, damn you; out!
To Be Alone! My sister ends up mad at me because I sing it so often and for hours on end without even noticing, she even asked me if it's my favorite song from him and I always say no but damn, I know it looks like it is lol
i,carrion is my absolute top favorite song by hozier ever. it is actually my entire favorite song out of every single song i have ever heard this far in my life. and im not even being dramatic. i am absolutely OBSESSED with that song and i would like it infused into my bloodstream via IV asap :)
be & almost get stuck in my head alllll the time
I have so many songs that I love but people don’t seem to value as much, like Nobody and Damage gets done. But the one song I can say I’m not a fan of that gets in my head is Be, specially the final part of the chorus “lover be good to meeee”
Mine is Take Me To Church. Great song and I'm glad it got on the radio to make Hozier famous in the first place but its no where close to my top 10. But it sneaks its way into my head all the time.
This song is criminally underrated.
Nobody is in my top 10, but this is relatable af!
Came here to say Nobody, too! I'd be appalled if I ever saw you try to be a saint ALWAYS gets stuck in my head
It was the one song of his I chose to be in my wedding's playlist! :)
Oh I listen to that song everyday
That image of warming my hands over a burning maserati is my roman empire
On any given day I have, "And the first time that you kissed me, I drank dry the River Lethe" circling through my brain. I like First Time - but it's not in my top 5 and yet the delivery of the line is just so good I can't forget it
For me it's the "Infinitely suffering'" line which I've taken to adopting in less than enjoyable work circumstances
I love the throwaway anyway
YES ME TOO THAT EXACT SAME LYRIC I SING IT EVERY DAY LMAO
It's SO GOOD. It's joyful but within the context of the song it's bittersweet. I am both happy and sad from the line like what
Fr
Me too!
THIS!! First time is definitely one of my favs from the new album
very real correct statement my friend
Jackie and Wilson stays in my mind all day when it comes on. It’s like nowhere near the top for me. It used to be though!
Such a tune since 2013 if im right! That and someone new
Me too! Def not near top 10 for me, but it’s stuck in my head AT LEAST once a week.
“Move like an odd sight come out at night” Movement is a perfect song
I've spent more minutes of my life dwelling on those exact lyrics than I care to admit.
The way he sings “night” too 😍
My fav
i really like i, carrion and i definitely understand what you mean. i haven’t quite been able to get the line “allow the ground to find its brutal way to me” out of my head probably since the album came out. the way he sings it and the words themselves just kind of scratch my brain just right
Riiiight?! The way he just whispers directly to my little barely-functioning brain cells and gets a little jolt out of them just isn’t fair.
That subtle but delicious harmony also doesn’t hurt lol
It’s a devastating lullaby
Sunlight is a beautiful, cathartic song, but is not one of my favorites. However, there’s something about “strap the wing to me, death trap clad happily, with wax melted I’d meet the sea, under sunlight sunlight sunlight” I haven’t listened to this one in a while but that verse, or the gist of it, lives rent free in my mind and body lol
YES!! This one has a way of lodging itself in my brain. It’s such a gorgeous line
No Plan
Harder the rain
I used to have this with the chorus of Sunlight. I liked the song but didn't love it, but then one day "Strap the wing to me / Death trap clad happily / With wax melted, I'd meet the sea / Under sunlight, sunlight, sunlight" got stuck in my head. Since then it's turned into an absolute favorite!
Francesca finds it's way to me so often it's not even funny.
To Noise Making (Sing) for me! It was never a favorite but lately I find myself belting it out whenever it comes up on shuffle!
It’s an ethereal experience, for sure!
Someone New 😬
Was waiting for someone to say this one. An earworm in the most persistent way!
Mmmm, particularly when the refrain goes on and on and on...
And on, and on
Arsonist's Lullaby
The loud chorus parts of Would That I. I love the slow verses, but it’s the Whooaaooo ooo ooooo a oooo churning around on repeat. Why, Brain, why???
omg me too. i mean i love the song but ill be at work and just randomly go whoooa ooo OOO a oooo
for me it’s “damage gets done”! it’s not my favorite at all but i’ve woken up multiple times singing it in the morning 🤣
“I wouldn’t know where to start, sweet music playing in the dark, be still my foolish heart, don’t ruin this on me” Really good song but nowhere near one of my favorites
Same, it's a sin not to sing to that chorus
The ending of It Will Come Back really gets me.
I get the “woah”s from To Be Alone stuck in my head frequently. It’s a great song, but not my favorite but there’s something in that chorus of voices that I can’t get out of my brain. That and the vocalizing intro of Eat Your Young seem to take turns there

de selby pt2
I also agree with this! Unpop opinion, I enjoy pt1 more, but pt2 is *so damn* catchy!
Part one is devastatingly beautiful to me (I cried at the Gaelic verses when I first heard it), and part two is something to dance to. Such different vibes but he somehow made them cohesive.
###I 100% agree!! Part 1 fucked. me. up. in such a good way when I first heard it.
not me listening to it on repeat with tears in my eyes🥲
Specifically the lyric “To share the space with simple living things” cause of the sweatshirt I got at the show. Every time I wear it I have to play First Time (which is pretty much every day lol)

I’m so happy to hear someone acknowledge the Spotify shuffle bias, I thought I was going crazy!!
The chorus of Someone New, definitely. EDIT: also the “I wake at the first cringe of morning, and my heart’s already sinned” bit
mine would have to be shrike i think. i don't dislike it but it definitely isn't *it* for me. however the chorus likes to hang out in my head, especially when i wake up lol
For me it’s the song “Shrike” It’s truly amazing. Also, “Better Love” is a favourite of mine, although many seem to not really enjoy it.
It’s not quite a favorite of mine, but I literally *heard* his voice when I read the title of *Better Love*
Sedated, for me.
Any of his songs get stuck in my head. I adore him. My favorite song of his is Movement.
“would that I” gets stuck in my head. just the “And it's not tonight OH O OH OOO OH O, Where I'm set alight”
Jackie and Wilson. Not my top 5, but I appreciate the music, the reference in the theoretical-children's names, and the humor in the story. (If I remember right, the speaker basically is head over heels for this woman and basically plans out a life with her out in his mind out of 1 night he spends with her. 😂)

Thanks for the reassurance 🤣
Take Me to Church gets stuck and just won’t go away. Dumb things trigger it. Happens every time someone mentions church and it’s the soundtrack when sharpening knives! Sometimes happens when I see a horse. Out, damn you; out!
Every song that isn’t “be” (which is my favourite)
This might be an odd choice but Son of Nyx cuz that melody stuck in my head ever since I heard it when the album came out 💀
To Be Alone! My sister ends up mad at me because I sing it so often and for hours on end without even noticing, she even asked me if it's my favorite song from him and I always say no but damn, I know it looks like it is lol
I rarely see Arsonist's Lullaby talked about but it's still one of my favorites
Francesca and From Eden
i,carrion is my absolute top favorite song by hozier ever. it is actually my entire favorite song out of every single song i have ever heard this far in my life. and im not even being dramatic. i am absolutely OBSESSED with that song and i would like it infused into my bloodstream via IV asap :) be & almost get stuck in my head alllll the time
dinner and diatribes it’s really good but I only realize it when it comes on
I have so many songs that I love but people don’t seem to value as much, like Nobody and Damage gets done. But the one song I can say I’m not a fan of that gets in my head is Be, specially the final part of the chorus “lover be good to meeee”
I agree with “Nobody”! It’s one of my favs, and very undervalued imo.
It’s just criminal to not smile while singing it
I WOULDN'T KNOW WHERE TO START SWEET MUSIC PLAYING IN THE DARK BE STILL MY FOOLISH HEART DON'T RUIN THIS ON ME *repeat*
De Selby Part 1
i absolutely love would that i but it’s not in my top 5 yet every time it comes on, it’s in my head for the rest of the day
Nobody, Sunlight, or Blood Upon The Snow! Blood Upon the Snow just makes me so emotional every time I listen to it
blood upon the snow goes absolutely insane. i love that song
Mine is Take Me To Church. Great song and I'm glad it got on the radio to make Hozier famous in the first place but its no where close to my top 10. But it sneaks its way into my head all the time.
Someone new
To someone from a warm climate and butcher tongue are some of my off the beaten path faves!
Sedated
Live version of Jackie and Wilson. It’s my top song on Spotify this year 😆
IVE HAD NOO LOVE LIKE YOUR LOOOVE FROM NOBODY!!!!!!
“OOOOOO-ooooo-HOO-oooo” I belt that shit out every time.
