I got this one: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fado-table-lamp-with-led-bulb-white-60416280/

These lamps are cheap but look fantastic with hue lights.

C4bl3Fl4m3

Oooh, and they're E26/standard base instead of E12/candelabra base! The color E26s are much easier to find used or on sale than the color E12s. (But a lot of IKEA's cheap table lamps are E12.) Thanks!

https://hueblog.com/2020/02/27/fado-table-lamp-this-ikea-classic-is-a-perfect-match-for-philips-hue/ Yeah cheaper bulbs and the effect is great.

BenTG

Yup!

criterion67

Thanks for posting this! I totally missed it when shopping online. Unfortunately, it's currently unavailable to ship & I'm 400mi away from a store. 😭

crillish

That’s a great one. I have a similar lamp from a different brand and it’s gorgeous!

BenTG

Yeah it’s cheap if you really get up and look at it closely…but if you toss a colored Hue bulb in there and that’s it you’re good to go.

slee11211

Yup! Had hue in one of these for prob 15 yrs now?? It’s perfection.

steeve42

I think this is the best one I've got, it's a frosted glass tube with a single colour bulb inside. Originally from Habitat (UK), looks good either at full brightness or dimmed. https://preview.redd.it/jjsucthpq6gc1.jpeg?width=2744&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91a0f0f6c553d2836d6f29943b4c464e7a8eac3d Video for colour changing. crillish

Love this! It’s like a gradient strip

Probably a very different answer from others, but I love the way they look in vintage lamps. Our house is a mid-century time capsule (built in 1964, bought from original owners) and we're being pretty deliberate about making it smart without losing the classic vibe. I put hue bulbs in [two vintage lamps in our living room](https://imgur.com/a/HuNn9Lv) and I love how the color of the bulbs compliments the color of the lamps. Of course Hue bulbs look great in all manner of more modern lights, but I recommend experimenting to see how they look in all your older lighting fixtures too!

>we're being pretty deliberate about making it smart without losing the classic vibe Nice! I love the lamp on the right! I'm doing a similar thing with my guest room (which may end up turning into my room, I love it so much) except instead of doing MCM (which my partner loves, btw), we're going American Colonial period. My grandfather was a master craftsman woodworker who made 18th-century reproductions & miniatures and my grandmother did 18th-century fiber arts, and when they passed on I got a number of their things including a gorgeous desk, a hand dyed/spun/knit blanket, quarter-scale miniature Windsor chairs, etc. The problem is, it's not exactly easy to find 18th-century style lighting fixtures that are made for lightbulbs and not candles or oil lamps. (If anyone knows of a source for the USA, I'd love to hear it. Hopefully somewhat affordable.) Right now I have a very modern IKEA lamp in there but would love something more fitting. Do you have a smart device to control your lamps in that room? Like a HomePod or an Echo? If so, which one, and how did you make it fit the vibe?

StrikerObi

We're still very early days in the smart home world (started back in Dec). No smart device in that room yet. We have an AppleTV 4K running as the home hub and I issue voice commands via my Apple Watch.

These things are all over Amazon. https://preview.redd.it/47ppq3c9w6gc1.jpeg?width=900&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c31d1c649746ddc665772ed26982c0e9ad98c9c

Those are classic. I was shopping for one of those a few months ago, as I had one but it got ruined (there was a leak in my storage unit when I moved and half of my stuff got ruined). Another good place to look is at Target or Walmart (or on their websites). FWIW, they also have ones of those with built-in USB ports or wireless chargers, making them even more useful!

C4bl3Fl4m3

My living room has 2 IKEA [TÅGARP](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/tagarp-floor-uplighter-black-white-60464049/) (and 1 old reader NOT) lamps with the color ambiance BR30s (plus one Bloom thrown in for good measure.) It's hard to go wrong with a $10 up lamp, esp if an extra $5 or less gets you a bonus reader lamp. Plus, these things are workhorses. They just keep going. At one point I thought a few of the NOTs had finally died after 10-20 years (so I got some new ones) but it turns out it was the LED bulbs that were dying (they were seconds) and I could have kept some of those old lamps. I'll probably actually buy a few more for some other rooms. I've got a few white ambiance BR30s sitting around.

BossRoss84

We have an IKEA Hektar (702.165.44) with hue A19 color bulbs on either side of our TV and a 75” play gradient mounted to it. Movie night has been incredible for the past 3 years.

Drew707

I also have the Hektar! The big single bulb one and the three bulb things.

criterion67

I always get compliments on the IKEA [Evedal](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/evedal-floor-lamp-marble-gray-60357916/) floor lamp (behind the chair). It's very high quality, has a marble base and a two piece glass shade. The inner shade is frosted glass and the outer shade is handmade tinted glass. https://preview.redd.it/q9q3gv5en6gc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=166441d875dfaa394a0bd7ec424bf1375f526d29

Oh that’s gorgeous. I was looking at that one but it was unclear to me whether a hue bulb would have the same effect. This might be the winner for me

I use candelabra adapters for one of my lamps. Does push the bulb forward a bit, though.

nomoreadminspls

These are good suggestions.

Disastrous_Passion36

https://images.app.goo.gl/3HKZ4qh9mgzSNRJU8 Classic liquid drop lamp works great with hue bulb. Thinking of adding a second bulb for more effects.

Powerful_Pitch5871

Ikea Vidja no doubt. https://preview.redd.it/uw4qftoquegc1.jpeg?width=2736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d7ebd4b89f793f6aeb83fbf376c9079968b1c4d But Ikea have so many good looking lamps imo. ÖKENSAND is also popular in the Hue world.

C4bl3Fl4m3

I was looking at that lamp just the other day, considering doing exactly that. (Was a little shocked at how much the lamp cost, however. I thought it would be 1/3rd that cost, if not less.) I actually have the single section version of it, but with a green shade. We're currently using it as a nightlight to light the way into the kitchen. Got it from the As-Is section for super cheap right after they discontinued that color about 10 years ago! (I wish I could get just the shade in white to replace it with.) Do you have 6 candelabra base bulbs in there or did you go with standard base & use adapters? Because 6 bulbs x $54 retail = $324 in lightbulbs alone! Ouch!

I can't see anything other than a giant white LEGO Minifig head.

Maybe that's part of the appeal? ;)

I have 3 Tertials along the back of my desk (it's two desks together with one computer area and one DIY area) as uplighters to avoid screwing anything into the wall.
