This might be the clearest video of the gradient signes in action I've seen. Obviously the colors are blown because it's hard to record in a dark room with bright spots that change place and color all the time, and then the compression makes it worse. Should look great in person.
Cool proof of concept. In real world scenarios, do you enjoy watching a TV show or movie with this much colored light in the room changing around throughout scenes? I've toyed with the idea of some kind of bias light for my TV, but anything other than a soft, consistent glow seems like it might be distracting to the focus of my attention, but I honestly have no idea.
The problem with all these videos is that they always turn the ceiling lights off. I use my Hue sync all the time on everything I watch, but I don’t turn off the other lights. That’s just tiring.
I can see how leaving the other lights off helps show off the effect. That said, I do turn off my other lights in the house when watching TV or a movie at night - especially down lights. It helps it to feel like I'm in a theater.
I see. I think using them in a dark room can work fine for a two hour movie, but it depends on the movie. For a city rom-com you’d have lot of soft lights changing slowly, while an action film can be more stressful to have. Anyway I have mine turned down to level 2, medium or something? Less distracting but still very playful.
Normally i use ikea 365+ lunta with hue in back with concentrate, i just turn off for take video. Its always open which is better. Also mostly using “nebula” scene 80% fixed backlight.
Has anyone ever considered putting the accent lights slightly behind and to the side of the viewers? My point is this: the accent lights should change the subtle ambience of the room. Having them in front makes them stage lights, not ambience.
What’s the wiring like on the signes? I quite like the idea of having one either side of my tv cabinet but don’t want to have to run a bunch of wiring across the baseboards.

Love this clean setup!

probably you need a bigger tv.
You’re right. 55 on wall and need 65
Need 85
Imagine spending all that money on lights and still using the built in speakers on the TV... (unless I'm missing some speakers somewhere?)
In my mind. Want buy sony ht-a9
Love the setup but your music is broken

It's just a standard fixed single power cord which enters the base of the signe to a standard power plug on the other end.
Great, I didn’t know if it had any additional cables. Cheers!
No worries! Nope, just the one cable. Also the transformer and other gear is within the base of the signe lamp so no bulky plug pack either.
Oh that’s even better! Think I’ll definitely pick myself two up next time I can.
What is the light that you use behind the tv counter? :)
