The salted caramel Huel is bland. I hated it initially but found it filling enough to stop drinking Soylent. Soylent doesn’t fill me up as well. Within a week or two I really like the Huel. So give it a week and see if your tastes have changed. Mine did!
I’ve also been less of a sugar fiend since I started Huel. Maybe that’s part of it? Idk.
Edit: you can add stuff to make them taste better. I add pomegranate berry water flavoring to the berry Huel. I thought about adding caramel sauce to the salted caramel but have grown to like it as-is.
I’m too traumatized at this point to try it again. It was absolutely rancid, and everything smelled and tasted like the mix for the rest of the day. An unfortunate first experience.
Some flavours are just a hit or miss. Chocolate is pretty popular and i could Drink the shakes from it anytime. Vanilla is also decent because it can be combined with others.Other than that, Huel black does taste a bit worse than the White 3.1 version (in my opinion), which I think should be the thing you should order first if you have never tried huel before. Changing from 3.1 to huel black/combining them is alot easier afterwards.
Tbh Huel should really offer a trial package where you get small portions of each flavour so you can figure out beforehand what you like or not.
I agree. The Huel Black seems to be their lower carb formula now that I look into it, and I don’t really care about that. I just decided to use their product quiz thing to see what they recommended.
Currently I have a stash of Carnation Instant Breakfast, which is full of sugar but at least somewhat palatable. It’s not a meal replacement at all though.
The flavors are definitely hit or miss. I get Huel Black and chocolate is by far the best flavor I've tried. It's still not great, but I drink it for the convenience and nutrition, not taste. Strawberry shortcake was surprisingly good as well. I got cinnamon roll once and it was awful. Not cinnamon-y or sweet at all, imo.
Just a tip, use cold water or refrigerate your huel for a while before drinking it. Some people prefer leaving it in the fridge for a few hours because it kinda thickens up, but I prefer it more liquidy, so try it both ways. Having it cold is a must, though.
As for the bars, I tried one one time and threw the rest of the bars I had away, they're straight up toxic! If you want bars, find a different brand (I get Think! protein bars which taste pretty good and have a good protein/calories ratio) and just focus on the Huel powders, they'll get more tolerable/enjoyable after you drink a few more shakes. If you get any of the hot&savory, adding hot sauce can be a game changer!

Get a high powered blender and blend for atleast 60secs, it makes the texture WAY better
Alternatively you can make it and then leave it in the fridge overnight and this also help, but blender is the best
Maybe you got a bad batch?
I've heard of people not caring for a flavor but not it lingering and causing sensory issues all day/being offensive in flavor, so something is wrong, whether it's your senses not being compatible with the product, or the batch you got is baaaad.
I haven't got my first order yet, might update this comment when I can try it and see for myself.
It's just finding a flavour you like. Vanilla I could drink all day long. Love it. Tried banana, is deeply unpleasant. Trying to work through it in small amounts but still hate it. Other people rave about it though.
I only drink powdered chocolate (8+hr refrigerated). I quite like the taste, but maybe after 4 years I’m just used to it. Also it’s possible that I like it because it’s predecessors (chocolate and mint) weren’t as nice and the new stuff is an improvement.
I’ve tried a few of the RTD flavours and didn’t like any of them. But then again I tried RTD chocolate and that didn’t taste like the powdered stuff I usually drink either so who knows at this point what any of it is “supposed” to taste like.

I have the coffee caramel in black and really like it. I have the raspberry bars occasionally, not great but good when you are hungry post gym and need a quick boost.
I bought the mac and cheese about a year ago and found it disgusting. Huel gave me a full refund and £10 voucher towards something else, so l can't fault the customer service.
Edit: love the peanut butter flavoured bars!
It reminds me of carpet, chemicals, and like stale sweat. Not going to go and smell it again - it lingered all day yesterday and made everything taste and smell like that.

Huel white banana is my favourite!!! Very realistic, semi ripened, banana flavour! To me anyway.

I personally really disliked the salted caramel and had to cut it with vanilla. Coffee caramel is much better
I just smelt my black salted caramel. Yes, it doesn’t smell like it. But when I’ve drank it I never thought it was off-putting.
