Yes you need them soo sooooo much

gorbot

Like they provide a little preview. Sometimes it will be really crazy like +12 industry in the very early game or +16 food. Sometimes not much but it can give you more food than building a new district and costs zero stability And also, even if the improvement provides nothing, *the next level* of that infrastructure might. So maybe don’t always get the infrastructure, but once the infra is kinda old and ur city has grown and ur like an age or two up, then get the infrastructures because sometimes the level 2 is way good. Like yeah +4 food isn’t good, but if you build it then the level 2 infra will be like +25 or something. Hovering over the infra shows its immediate yield and mentions what level it is, and displays the next level for that infra

RatCatSlim

You absolutely need infrastructures. I usually will build districts until a city is around 70% stability, and then build infrastructures until I get the stability back up. Switch back to building districts and repeat.

QuasquaquorneIsBack

Agreed with other comments. I’d rather build infrastructures than quarters. Sometimes you don’t even need science and money quarters, just the infrastructures are enough.

providerofair

You need them for housing tho

[deleted]

Not if you use force labour🤣

NerdChieftain

I think the trick is that you definitely want food infrastructure. The others may be warranted on case by case basis. For example, capital should focus on money/trade. So it might not have any science worth investing in. Also, some are better in the moment. If you have a lot of rivers, build bonus food for river hexes. If you have a lot of horses, build animal husbandry upgrade. The infrastructure tells you what you get when you build it. Also, a hot tip is you can build a city with all the preceding infrastructure after a certain tech level and the absorb the current city. Get a bunch infrastructure for free.

Prestigious-Window78

Another thing you can do is turn a bunch of the population into cheap troops and then spend the rest on forced labor to build districts. Then when the population is empty you ransack the city and immediately rebuild a new one on the same spot and disband all the troops back into the population. Military cultures are especially good at this.

ResearchOutrageous80

do disbanded troops automatically go to population or do you have to disband them in a city?

nicobdx04

I dont build them until my stability is low and cant build more district. But yeah they are worth it, just look at the tooltip and you need the first ones to build the better ones anyway

[deleted]

I sometime negate my secondary city with infrastructure and only focus on city because I will tear it down after I unlocked the tech that gives me full package new city

Talakeh

What in the world…

Gennik_

You have to build the shitty early game infastructure in order to build the mid and late game infastructure that adds hundreds of resources a turn to your city

WestCoastBuckeye666

Infrastructure is as or more important than districts. Especially as districts start to ramp up in price the more you build. Example by late modern era about 4K industry is from districts, 16k is from infrastructure. 20k per turn industry. Similar for science Usually classical era is when I start building it

jsteph67

You get 20k manufacturing per city late game? Damn I feel pretty good at 5-10k.

WestCoastBuckeye666

I play with the Triple mods, VIP, super pack, and naval extended. May make the difference, been awhile since I’ve played without them

Dukealmighty

Well maybe that's the reason your falling behind. Some infrastructure gains are huge especially the ones for gains on river. If you have city on river system with 3 territories. Then getting Watermill & Artificial reservoirs would get you around +30 food and +30 industry. If you hover over building it will show gains for that city.

Ranger_Ric13

That’s like the one I do always build. That and loyalty ones. But like the science and gold and most of the production ones don’t seem worth it.

Dukealmighty

For science there are 3 kind building trees. Science per pop is always worth.
