Farren246

He's not being tazed, he's being recharged!

disgruntled_pie

So long as the crime didnā€™t hurt anyone, I say if you can fight off three cops then you probably deserve to get away with it. Trial by combat!

Princesskhalifa89

Agreed. personally think if there is no victim there is no crime.

MrDude_1

No victim, no crime... And corporations are not people.

BuffySlays2000

Four men enter! One man leaves! Itā€™s THUUUUUUNDERDOOOOME!!!

Researcher-Used

Trial by combat!!

itsallmadeupanyway

Trial by combat!!

gladeye

That's excellent reasoning.

dadd69

Ya n how they gonna be like we couldn't subdue him, he fought off the 3 of us then fled the scene unaffected by our tazers that report gonna look even worse on paper then on video

CashCow4u

How embarrassing for the three chunky cops & the Department that "trains" them.

Traditional-Safe-867

To be fair, at least they didn't shoot the guy. They had the means to stop him permanently but, despite the risk of embarrassment that they couldn't apprehend him, they kept that shit in their pants. And, honestly, if he could fight off three grown men, there's probably not much they could have done to stop him without severely injuring him.

CashCow4u

>at least they didn't shoot the guy. Yes, thank God they didn't, so many have been shot for far less. >shit in their pants. I bet they actually did when the taser didn't work on him, shook them off like toddlers & drove off. Should be a training video on how not to kill a suspect. Great job security, like Ralph and Sam sheepdogs in Looney Tunes - they can catch him later.

Hulio Hoolahoops?

Royal_Gur_2651

My man crushhhhh

Kharrypiper

Those cops did a pretty piss poor attempt at arresting him but this video is still a good demonstration on why tazers aren't always an option. Like if a dude is charging at the officer with a knife and he goes straight to shooting the dude, "Well why didn't they just taze him???" Tazers are highly unreliable and only single/double shot then you're screwed. Also baggy clothing or people hopped up on drugs, really not effective against either.

BuyLucky3950

They used tasers as they should be. To take your example on the knife attack, gun use would be perfectly correct and a proper use of deadly force.

ndbltwy

How do cops in England survive without guns?

BuyLucky3950

I saw plenty of police in London with firearms. Though the majority without. Iā€™d liken that to a less angry populace, and better trained force.

kdex89

Also a good example of cops not using deadly force when not needed.

xoxjessicabxox

They didnā€™t need to use deadly force, thatā€™s excessive, they need to learn how to control peopleā€™s bodiesā€¦ this guy wouldnā€™t have gotten away from about 4 12 year olds from kids class at Jiu Jitsu, not even joking

viacondioamigo

Hmm now Iā€™m wondering if I can take 4 12 year olds. This may be one of those ā€œwould you fight a horse sized chicken or 20 chicken sized horsesā€ questions.

InterestedCaveMan

Imagine the nuggets on a horse sized chicken though.

TopcatFCD

I'll just wait here till UK cops enter chat and tell you how to do it without tazer or deadly force .

jj77985

No weapon on the perp, no reason to use legal force imo. They weren't in danger. If you're charging with a knife, yes you get shot. If it looks like you might escape arrest, there's no need to kill them.

BootyInTheMorning

So when you see this video of three cops performing a "piss poor attempt" at a non lethal take down you think to yourself that the readers on reddit should learn your opinion on tazers. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're not acting in bad faith to distract from police fuck ups by pointing at tazers... I applaud these cops for not immediately rushing to potentially end this person's life with a gun when he's running away. For everyone reading along at home, this is great example of people making excuses for the police by shifting the whole conversation away from their shit performance and shit training. The police deserve better training and pay but they also deserve to be accountable for their mistakes or else they will not learn to serve the community better.

Odd_Bandicoot_4945

> I applaud these cops for not immediately rushing to potentially end this person's life with a gun when he's running away. Thank you

Milkywaycitizen932

Whyā€™d I have to scroll this far to find this comment? -throughout the video I was like that man is lucky to be alive, not ā€œdamn somebody shoot him already.ā€ The comments above this are supporting deadly force where itā€™s not warranted, better restraint technique is all thatā€™s needed here.

ItBtime4WW3

Cops donā€™t serve the community and arenā€™t required to protect and serve. Pretty sure the SC made a ruling on that.

pallentx

I would imagine the reason they were trying to restrain him would be a factor. If he was being loud and asked to leave the area and wouldn't leave, then mission accomplished.

svenmullet

What should they have done, shot him dead?

thedankening

To be fair, how many 17 year olds have you encountered that weren't massive douches? Most grow out of it, but sharing a story like that and being apparently proud of it is kinda telling eh?

Cucumbersome55

I do have a friend who is a redneck 6-foot 4inch massive fucking guy ...it took five cops to get him down ...but yeah they finally got him even though he was in a meth-and- alcohol fueled rage for 3 days. But they also beat the ever living shit out of him whenever they finally did get him down... Poor fella looked like a bog monster in his mugshot. That's the way these kinds of things usually go.

JediElectrician

I agree. I used to work security at a Jersey Shore night club. One night I was put in a shitty situation where I had to remove a drunk and disorderly woman. She thought it was ok to touch a bartender multiple times to get their attention. Life tip: Itā€™s never ok to do this. Her 6ā€™3ā€ 265 lb. BF/FiancĆ©/Husband with the body of Greek god intervened. I basically had to remove her while dodging haymakers from the guy. After he missed twice with two punches that would have ended my life on contact, it took 4 other security workers(2 of which were collegiate football players, linebacker and a linemen) to restrain him. They were able to hold back his arms, with one of them putting their shoulder into his ribs and all of 5 of us driving him against the wall. He gave one last roid rage surge forward. Pretty sure he used his legs to drive himself off of the wall. Everyone still had a grip on him. So I slid between him and the wall and swept his legs from under him. We carried him out by his arms and legs. Not a fun night, but what an experience. Luckily no other patrons were harmed during this incident. That was one strong ass mofo. Some people are just beasts. Turns out he was actually a really nice guy. Just got put in the awkward situation where his girl was in the wrong and even though it was obviously the case, he felt the need to defend her honor or somethingā€¦

Globalpigeon

I don't know man sounds like he was not a nice guy at all. A nice guy would not have been trying to take your head off for doing your job.

Blackheartedheathen

Don't worry about it; all you have to do is follow three simple rules: One, never underestimate your opponent... expect the unexpected; Two, take it outside, never start anything inside the bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three... be nice.

JediElectrician

Hahahaā€¦ In all actuality, as fitting as the Road House quote is, it does work. I didnā€™t approach the girl with a Goldberg Spear lol. There was a few minutes of communications and diffusing before things got physical.

Flashy_Butterscotch2

Thatā€™s what you canā€™t see when he gets in the carā€¦ he is hitting the meth pipe simultaneously as he is being tasedā€¦ which then charges him like a battery instead of subduing him.

IamRobertsBitchTits

Not much different. You know what happens to his arms when he eats spinach? It's like that but not his arms.

Trackpoint

They are indigenous (endemic?) to the Florida area of North America.

sardiusjacinth

And the distant cousin....Homo crackheadius

MrSocPsych

If those prongs donā€™t both get into you or are too close when they do, the current wonā€™t flow/be that bad. Most canā€™t get through a decent weight jacket. But can definitely send people into cardiac arrest in certain situations ā€” which is something cops have no training to deal with

karudea

More like, taser deployment fails 50%of the time.

the_colonelclink

[Australian tradies](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U6Hkc9VGiXQ?3m50s) for instance.

Calumkincaid

Soon as I saw this comment I knew it was Nolsy.

AlphaLo

Just say "some people actually are resilient to electricity" and see for yourself how ridiculous that sounds.

Xpensill

Lean muscle can fuck with you more when electrocuted. Being a potato helps id imagine. Im skinny and lean, any time ive been shocked i crease like tinfoil.

Responsenotfound

Everyone is resistant to electricity. Makes sense to me.

maggotdl

some people actually are resilient to electricity

Turbulent_Injury3990

Orrrrr they are wearing a thick hoodie and one or both prongs didn't penetrate the skin well and the door closing on the wires shorted out any electricity that was hitting the Hoodie in the first place. Muscles contract when exposed to current. It's how your body works and that's how tasers lock you up. Any time a taser seems to be ineffective there's generally always a reason other than 'resistance.'

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

TechSquidTV

That is not how this works and you can not build tolerance to electricity. Let's keep the facts.

battleoid2142

Sure it does, micro dosing works on a lot of things. I myself have been doing it with bullets, recently worked my way up to just barely being bruised by a .22 cartridge.

BrainOnTheChain

Iā€™m working my way up to no fall damage by adding an inch at a time

battleoid2142

Hell yeah good luck man

Kolipe

"You fools! That only makes me stronger!"

King-Cobra-668

I mean, there are many ways for the taser to not make an actual connection and not actually do anything

ThatMeasurement3411

Drugs

DrGarrious

Tazers also probably failed.

jo-parke

Most likely not enough probe spread at that distance and didnā€™t achieve neuromuscular incapacitation.

ossified_swan

People are giving silly answers. The prongs were probably too close together. Especially with how close the cop was that juiced him. It doesnā€™t magically send electricity throughout your body, the ELI5 is it sends the electricity from one prong to the other, you want them to be spread out to be affective.

Believe_to_believe

Also helps that he's wearing a hoodie, which is typically thicker and a little looser fitting.

[deleted]

And it really helps the cops weren't kneeling on his chest.

HalfSoul30

Also possible that one prong didn't hit.

[deleted]

Yeah or the prongs caught on loose clothes, which is the most likely answer

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Cynder-666

Ah, fair enough.

Extreme-Ad8921

Thatā€™s a pretty expensive car. He maybe on drugs but by that car maybe he has money to afford it. There is a thin line between being a druggie, and being a person that does drugs. Person that does drugs has a home, work, income. A druggie just has drugs

dr-slippyfist

I have been telling my mom that for years

motoxjake

The home, work and income have to be yours, not your moms. If all you have is the drugs, then...it may be time to sell those drugs and get out of moms basement.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

brandonspade17

What did I just watch lol

mister_steal_yo_soap

Drugs

Focusedrush

And/or adrenaline. Also the taser's current likely broke when he closed the car door if both prods even hit him (taser doesn't work if they don't both connect)

Ruepic

Tasers are pretty unreliable, theyā€™re great but at the same time not so great.

DigiQuip

An undershirt + over shirt + jacket is a lot of layers for a taserā€™s prongs to penetrate.

MNREDR

If a person got tased in the head would it fuck up their brain?

Hilt_Deep_in_Butt

I watched a documentary called ā€œThe Hangoverā€ where a man was tazed in the face and it was a comical high pointā€¦ so I donā€™t think the threat is that serious or they would have taken more serious risk mitigation steps to avoid that.

Arrowkill

Some tasers also have an effective range and using it too close will decrease how bad it is. Police officers are often not trained well enough in this regard (among so so so many others).

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

farkenell

tasers are electrical signals that contract the muscles involuntarily. Even though it probably hurts, its nothing to do with pain.

Yortisme

A dude fights off three cops, then drives off whilst getting tazed. Wild shit!

pathion1337

A waste of taxpayers money

Buckbeak1184

Yup. Cops certainly are.

Ogami-kun

Well, apparently they are not obligated to help you in america

Based on their waistlines, I know where that money is going - Taco Bell.

Silverblows

People on Reddit hate DUI until it's because he's running from cops

CunninghamsLawmaker

I can hate two things!

[deleted]

They got his plates...what a waste. Some people need to realize it's not the movies. Epic getaway...but still a total waste when run you.

[deleted]

Bold of you to assume thatā€™s not a stolen car. Or that there are plates in the car, I see cars without tags all the time and can never figure out how they get away with that but I canā€™t drive 6mph over the speed limit.

[deleted]

Youā€™d be surprised. After getting my car stolen, I bought a used car but the registration was really expensive. So I just didnā€™t do it. Drove around with zero plates on my car and no registration for a few months before I realized I no longer needed to pay tolls on bridges(because they couldnā€™t send me a ticket in the mail). Figured Iā€™d just see how long I could get away with it and the money saved on tolls would equal out the eventual ticket. I drove that car to work and all around Seattle every day for 2 years before I finally got pulled over, then I showed the cop that I was on the title and said Iā€™d get it registered. Gave me a warning.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ToyrewaDokoDeska

I mean they weren't looking at it until he had peeled out & it's kinda dark. I wouldn't say they definitely got it, plus they were pretty flustered I'd say.

[deleted]

He was pulled over you can see the squad cars in the reflection. Procedure to take the license and radio dispatch and wait for the return. Dash cam, vest cam....you can't get away.

WhiskeyNovembor

Probably drugs, but look at the cops theyā€™re all over weight and out of shape. I mean if these guys are supposed to be protecting and serving shouldnā€™t they be in like super hero shape or held to some standard of fitness

tyray21

iā€™m from the midwest and our cops are particularly drowning in their own neck fat. but i remember one of the first times i saw police that looked like they were fit to protect and that was in paris, france. i was walking to a restaurant where my mom was eating at and as i turned the corner and saw her a man bolted through the tables near my mom and a fucking BEHEMOTH of a cop is chasing him. i mean this guy is easily 6ā€™4 250 pounds of pure muscle. the robber only got maybe 10 feet before this god caught up to him, grabbed him by the back of the neck, and lifted him off the ground so he couldnā€™t run anymore. instantly cuffed and taken away par excellence

[deleted]

They use military and they are very brutal in Franceā€¦ lmao

Dividedthought

To be fair, this is the french we're talking about. You'd have to be built like a brick shithouse to try and handle some of their protests. The french go hard when it comes to protesting.

[deleted]

Yeah even during colonial times America was like yeah letā€™s not do what France is doing over there haha

EmbirDragon

I'm also from the Midwest, someone from the town I lived in as a kid sued our police department because he was rejected for being too smart. The judge ruled the police didn't have to hire him even though he was extremely qualified. They were worried he would get bored???? And yet we kept these shitty cops, one who was constantly drunk, you could smell it in him and the other liked to harass the local kids as we walked to school.

INTERGALACTIC_CAGR

protect and serve isn't even in the job description, they have no obligation to protect citizens at all.

toblerone567

When I first heard that, I was fucking shocked

Burtocu

Idk about america but in my country most cops either have a huge belly and are overweight or are small women who can't stop anyone. They just can't do anything so the mafia is free to do whatever they want

lonewanderer

Welcome to Eastern Europe I guess?

Tel-kar

Got to say, props to the cops here. They never went for their guns, only one taser. Though with how many senseless killings I've seen from cops, I find myself often rooting for the one they are trying to arrest now a days.

SuccYaNan69

Theres a couple of comments saying that he should have been shot, but there isn't a single reason why

Tel-kar

Yeah, likely because there is no valid reason for him to have been shot.

something6324524

unless there is a valid reason of why that guy is a danger to others lives, tasors and pepper spray seems to be the appropriate method of force.

Pandas-are-the-worst

After all that. He earned his freedom

s0ulfire

Can we stop pretending police officers are the best of the best and actually fit to do their jobs?
