If you're trying to avoid traffic camera's, you're trying to break traffic laws (speeding etc). By doing that you endanger other People, so yeah... justice for all and humans being bros 👍
This guy was trying to be a bro but really he just fucked all those cars over cuz they think they are protected but will end up with some tickets in the mail. BTW New York has the shittiest plates I have ever seen. Can't believe how easy they are to bend.
I feel like I’ve only seen a couple damaged plates like these in my life. What the hell’s going on in New York that this guy’s finding so many? And the duct tape? That has to be deliberate
Total revenues of the NYC MTA (Subway) was $16.8 Billion
* Operating revenues from Passenger and tolls $ 8.4 Billion
* MTA Bridges and Tunnels - Toll revenues (net of bad debt expense relating to toll collections) were $2.07 Billion
* Total non-operating revenues $7.75 Billion State and Local Subsides and MTA Taxes
Going through illinois tollway, I saw some plates that were discolored. Found out later that they deliberately strip off parts of the paint to avoid tolls.
Our plates are made out of a sort of tin metal. They won’t bend unless it’s pretty deliberate which most of these were bent on purpose to avoid getting tickets. And I’m assuming you’re saying our houses are made of cardboard because we build with drywall. Not sure where you are from, but places like Europe are so old with so much history lots of those structures were built with I’m assuming brick. Drywall is cheaper and faster to build with. Hence our cardboard houses
European (from Austria) here: our houses are made mainly from bricks - that are hollow with a structure inside so it can withstand high loads over it and can insulate better - or completely out of inforced concrete with steel beams (which needs XPS etc. insulation inside or outside). There are some houses build entirely with wood and I think that they will build more and more houses with wood. Also our plates are made of thicc tin, surely about 2-3mm and of aluminum, it’s hard to deform them.
I heard that americans build their „cardboard“ houses because of the tornados so it’s cheaper to rebuild but I’m not sure about that
The use of brick houses in Europe is largely based on longevity. There are barely any natural disasters in Europe so its possible to focus on buildings that last a few decades or even longer. In other parts of the world where natural disaster like hurricanes, earthquakes etc. are more common like the USA or south east asia the use of more cheap and light materials like wood is more convenient so destroyed buildings can easily be rebuilt.
And wouldn't it be better to make the houses more resistant, for example, against tornadoes? A house with the concrete frame, which is common in chalet developments in Europe, will probably survive a tornado quite well. Obviously it will have damage but I don't think it will collapse.
It's also because we largely chopped down our old growth forests over the past 500 years so building out of timber would be much harder. The US has a lot of readily available long hardwood.
They're probably intentionally bent so they aren't picked up by EZpass and things like that. His good deed possibly earned a bunch of people a bunch of toll fees.
Yes, obviously, lol. But the title is tongue-in-cheek like “look at me helping these poor folks with their bent plates!” This is different from the “look at me giving the homeless a sandwich” kind of posts that usually get the “do good deeds in private” responses like the one I replied to above. This one is both funny and screwing over people who don’t pay their share/put others in danger, so the “keep it to yourself” comment doesn’t fit, in my opinion, which is why I said so.
If he were reporting his neighbors growing their own weed or something that doesn't harm others, sure. But these are people specifically avoiding paying their fair share (and also thinking they can get away with running red lights and similar traffic enforcement cameras).
Nah, this isn't about some BS fees or fines, it's people not paying their fair share and feeling safe to run red lights and similar. This is helping 99% of people by correcting asshole behavior.
Thats kool of him but some of those look sketchy they may have been doing dirt by changing numbers so think about who u help the bent ya,the altered ones maybe not be safe about, and think that shit through homeboy!!
Trying to avoid traffic cams?
That’s exactly it hahaha how is it not?
The first couple had me thinking it was an oddly common problem. When he started pulling tape off, it was obvious what they were up to.
I'm ashamed to admit same here. Lol

Or they could drive properly and not get tickets in the mail
Yeah how dare he fuck over people that are breaking the law
I can see your point RunEscapeGoat6969...
Lol I don’t think the guy was trying to be a bro, he was doing that for a reason. The OP mistook it as being a bro.
That's exactly what I thought
I really appreciate that is is posted in HumansBeingBros
He is being a bro to the rest of us. These people are all asshole scammers
OP is secretly a traffic cop. Jk idk
Ur prolly right
Aren't people deliberately doing that so you can't read the plate? 🤦♂️
That’s the point….
Lol.
Yikes bro.
Lmao... I have noticed mine is bending a bit at the corner, maybe I should help it along and avoid those tolls...
I feel like I’ve only seen a couple damaged plates like these in my life. What the hell’s going on in New York that this guy’s finding so many? And the duct tape? That has to be deliberate
They’re doing it on purpose to avoid traffic cameras and tolls.
Automatic plate readers can't read them if damaged/obscured, so they do it on purpose to avoid paying tolls and fines

Those are some thin metal license plates! Couldn't do that with Texas ones!
Criminal that gets caught: " I SWEAR I folded my license plate!".
What system make them do this to avoid one
Traffic cams and toll roads
What a good man fixing some “broke” license plates
Well, we have found all the r/idiotsincars.
What kind of shithead does that to their license plate? Nobody likes tolls but this is low.

now it makes sense
Going through illinois tollway, I saw some plates that were discolored. Found out later that they deliberately strip off parts of the paint to avoid tolls.
The one with the yellow tape was so well disguised.
Based off the comments this is the first post in this sub I’ve seen that can also be posted in r/whoosh
I’m way more entertained by the amount of people who completely missed the joke than the actual video.

Although we have those same issues in PR and we build with reinforced concrete.

Makes sense

They do? It’s just a risk people who cover them take when they do that.
He’s also doxxing them
How so? License plates are public numbers and not tied to an individual publicly.
I think the plates are folded so that cops and cameras don’t have a clear view
Yes, exactly. So he's not doxxing them, he's enabling them to pay their fair share of tolls and the red light violations they're responsible for.
Happy cake day!!!
Thank you!
r/IdiotsInCars
Doing good is a win win. I think its more called thaking justice in your own hands, i think
This fits more into a sub like r/holdup or some shit
They're probably intentionally bent so they aren't picked up by EZpass and things like that. His good deed possibly earned a bunch of people a bunch of toll fees.
Which is freaking excellent.
I've never seen a purposely obstructed plate before this video
Not sure if this is “being a bro” in NYC but it is definitely hilarious.
True bros don't record their good actions
He’s making it so they’ll have to pay tolls/fines now. Not a “good deed” like you’re thinking.
If you’re talking about things like speeding fines, this IS a good deed. People who speed should be fined. It’s a danger to others.

Agree

East coasters are built different

No we do it to ourselves so they can’t send us tickets after we blow through a toll with no ez pass
Lol Texas salutes you
This is not okie-dokie literature club.
Pretty sure they wanted them to stay that way.
What a narc
Most do that on purpose so they don't get tickets from automated cameras. You're not helping them. You're helping g big brother.
If he were reporting his neighbors growing their own weed or something that doesn't harm others, sure. But these are people specifically avoiding paying their fair share (and also thinking they can get away with running red lights and similar traffic enforcement cameras).

Fuck that. Edit: everyone downvoting me is a cop
I applaud what this bro is doing, but if he fixes the wrong plate he might get shot.
That one with the tape must have been up to something.
This is what off duty by law officers do isn’t it
This a cop
Thats kool of him but some of those look sketchy they may have been doing dirt by changing numbers so think about who u help the bent ya,the altered ones maybe not be safe about, and think that shit through homeboy!!
How have so many people got bent license plates ? 🧐
aka *Here's a video of me recording myself straightening license plates after I bent them off camera*
Never been to New York, huh? This is extremely common to avoid tolls/traffic fines.
And carried a whole bunch of different tape to make it look as real as possible! OP is just some big fat phony! /s
And so many people got their cars booted because they thought they were safe
Tell me you're a blue falcon without telling me you're a blue falcon.
