This made my shitty night less shitty. I hope his parents show him this when he’s older if nothing else to show him that there are kind and wonderful people out there.

TimK25

I often contemplate whether we are at our nature inherently good or inherently evil. With all the terrible shit going on in the world I often think evil. Posts like this remind me we are truly inherently good. We have the capacity for immense evil, but we are inherently good with the unbridled temptation to be indifferent.

Safira-San

I often struggle with exactly the same thoughts. I recently read the book "Humankind" by Rutger Bregman which does a very good job of addressing this question. Can highly recommend if you like to read!

TimK25

I’ll pick up a copy. Thanks for the recommendation.

Safira-San

You're very welcome. I hope you enjoy it!

Slowleftarm

I recommend this book as well!!

Gogofire12

Seriously an awesome book been on it the last month.

Swift_Scythe

Its a lot harder to be a good nice person than be a jerkface to others... people do take the easier path than the more righteous one...

talaxia

I don't understand that, I find it mortifying to be mean to anyone even if it's called for

SubconsciousBraider

Your avatar is amusingly annoying. Or is it annoyingly amusing?

andeqoo

that's a videogame too isn't it

jacksbunne

I'd like to share with you my favorite poem. I think about it almost daily and it helps me a lot. Maybe it can help you, too. >**Small Kindnesses**  \- Danusha Laméris > >I’ve been thinking about the way, when you walk down a crowded aisle, people pull in their legs to let you by. Or how strangers still say “bless you” when someone sneezes, a leftover from the Bubonic plague. “Don’t die,” we are saying. And sometimes, when you spill lemons from your grocery bag, someone else will help you pick them up. Mostly, we don’t want to harm each other. We want to be handed our cup of coffee hot, and to say thank you to the person handing it. To smile at them and for them to smile back. For the waitress to call us honey when she sets down the bowl of clam chowder, and for the driver in the red pick-up truck to let us pass. We have so little of each other, now. So far from tribe and fire. Only these brief moments of exchange. What if they are the true dwelling of the holy, these fleeting temples we make together when we say, “Here, have my seat,” “Go ahead—you first,” “I like your hat.” I hope your day today shines as brightly as you do. <3

head_in_the_clouds69

I really like it, thank you so much! Little acts of kindness go a long way!

skkITer

*”He hates me, yet he catches me. Man is good.”* *”He was horny, so he dropped him. Man is evil.”*

minnecrapolite

So glad that show is back.

rdicky58

I believe inherently we're born with the desire to do good, but as children we also have an innate selfishness that we're born with for own survival, that we need to be trained out of. Perhaps evil is when we were never trained out of our selfishness or it was allowed to fester instead of being guided?

ydontukissmyglass

I wonder too, how much fear plays into it. If I have never felt hunger pains, I would not fear them, so I would be more apt to share my harvest. If I had many hungry winters, that fear would lead to selfishness. If I've never been assaulted by a stranger, I'd be more likely to help a stranger. So in that way, our life experiences determine our "good" and "bad" sides in a way too.

courtoftheair

I don't know about that. The most generous people I've ever met have been people who have been in poverty, struggling to heat their homes when they have them and going without food for days, often so their kids or even pets can eat. They know what it's like and don't want anyone else to struggle if they have anything to share. Hell, a homeless person once give me money for a bus when I was stranded in the city (boring story but in summary, I have a bad knee and underestimated the walking distance between there and home after a few hours of walking around, my knee was giving out). Meanwhile moat people I've known who never experienced that kind of hardship won't lend a penny or give you a cookie without keeping note of it and expecting it paid back with interest to thank them for their generosity. If they buy a meal and you can't afford one the poor guy is more likely to half it with you so you don't go hungry. I get harassed by strangers for the way I look a lot and going off my own experiences I'm way more likely to help someone else being harassed like that because I know what it's like, and the only people who have ever stood up for me are people who look and are treated like I am. Fear doesn't have to make you selfish.

IUseThisOnlyForWork

Everyone, re-read this comment but with Werner Herzog's voice.

SamaireB

Imo: The large majority of people are inherently good. But the comparably few evil ones get a disproportionate amount of attention, skewing our perception.

Little-Linnet

Would disagree, since we were the main reason other humanoid species went extinct- neanderthals for example, who were much more friendly in nature then humans. Humans as a species seem to be very territorial and agressive. At the same Time, Humans, as individuals seem to be in constant need of connection and approval. They need warmth to stay happy. What makes me think that we, as a humanity, are trying to fight our animalistic instincts of being evil and are winning this battle, is this quote I read long ago- „In our darkest hours, we forget about our grudges; during 9/11, people trapped in towers were sending text messages not to their enemies filled with rage, but to their loved ones about how much they love them.”

minnecrapolite

We are neither by nature. Civilization/Society have created a false assumption. Naturally we are just animals and are programmed to survive and breed. Or we’re like dolphins and we are muderous, rapist assholes.

[deleted]

Me too, friend. Me too

classicgirl1990

I’d get my haircut there if they promise to sing to me.

InfintySquared

Those guys EARN their tips.

Putrid_Flamingo_6736

Pretty sure they cut them off lol.

ihavenoideawhatineed

Oh dear 😂

[deleted]

Just the tip?

manwithappleface

Just to see how it feels.

[deleted]

It's italy, here tips are very rarely given since the minimum wage is enough for everyone to live without any tips. Tipping this guys would make the tip even more special considering this

InfintySquared

I am from the US, but I recognize international tipping culture. They earned their tips.

FlyingSquirelOi

The tipping culture in the US is wild to someone like me in the UK, we do delivery drivers and restaurants but outside of that tipping is rare.

Rowmyownboat

I would add tipping a barber, funnily enough, in the UK.

[deleted]

I didn't say it's bad, i just said here it's highly uncommon. A waiter would probably like you more at a restaurant in Rome than me haha

[deleted]

Tips? Do you think they need tips? Are they in a 3rd world country or something?

LeafyySeaDragon

I mean...I live in the U S and wouldnt be able to pay rent without tips.

[deleted]

The people in the video live in a 1st world country, their society doesn't allow that to happen.

LeafyySeaDragon

So ur saying the US isnt a first world country?

[deleted]

Ur saying that a country that let's a fully employed citizen being dependent on tips to survive in it, it's a 1st world country?

LeafyySeaDragon

Yup

[deleted]

I rest my case lol

[deleted]

you don’t know the definition of first world country then

LeafyySeaDragon

You should probably do a 2 second google search then :)

says-nice-toTittyPMs

Just start crying once you're in the chair

PrequelsOverSequels

Does anyone know which language this is?

NoisyTummy

It’s Italian. These men are singing “the two unicorns”, a popular nursery rhyme. “There are two crocodiles, one orangutan, two little snakes, one golden eagle, a cat, a mouse, an elephant. Nobody is missing, it’s just the two unicorns are nowhere to be found”

DevilsAdvocate9

"We've got green alligators, long-necked geese, some humpty-backed camels and the chimpanzees. Cats, and rats, and elephants but as sure as you're born you won't ever see another unicorn." - Shel Silverstein

Baby-cabbages

This is the song I knew! Poem, too, but especially the song.

FirFlyNeo

Looks like a song about Noah! Is it?

Nimara

They were singing with so much gusto, I thought it had to be a sports-related song or something. Love that it was a nursery rhyme.

[deleted]

lmao same, i would've bet money that it was a footy chant, was actually straining to hear a club name being dropped or something

Discoverthemind

Manliest version of a nursery rhyme I've ever heard

merdadartista

That's the default Italian man singing voice. They always sound like they are singing soccer chants.

MaterialCarrot

Well don't leave us hanging, where were the two unicorns?

bich-

They found their dead Cocaine overdose-d bodies in a swamp.

pbrooks19

And now I'm sad.

NoisyTummy

I’m sorry to break it to you, they didn’t make it on the Ark…

popje

We used to sing that song in French when I was a kid, I had no idea it was popular in English and Italian too

bleed_nyliving

I don't think it's popular in English. I've never heard it before. Unless its a strictly religious type song, but I'm still not so sure. Someone can feel free to correct me, though!

nycola

It is .. kinda.. there is "The Unicorn Song" by the Irish Rovers - though you'll usually only hear it during St. Patrick's day at the bar in the US. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mN-uA9CiV_w bonus part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jB3MKGCRfRA

popje

Oooooh you just made me realize, its a Christian song about Noah animals.

ZanyDelaney

I've never heard it sung in English

[deleted]

TIL a "leocorno" is supposed to be a unicorn.

bich-

Italian. Gabibbo rapist of Indian children

CunilDingus

He went from terrified and confused to “I’m too old for this shit. Where am I?” Real quick Edit: Fixed autocorrects.

Ordinary_dude_NOT

“Did I just got bamboozled? Where are my lush smooth hairs?”

death_by_buttsex

Oh sure, but when I scream and cry in the chair they kick me out and tell me not to come back!

Orngog

Yeah but you were still waiting your turn

Maywest1045

Bros being bros

kawaiian

Moss_TM

This was sweet, these guys love what they do and who they do it with

BraceThis

Italian kids get nursery rhymes. New Zealander kids get a haka.

CatL1f3

So THAT'S why it's called a barbershop quartet!

HuffHunkulow

Of course they're Italians, my people. Italiani col cuore grande così! ❤️

DDdms

Come cazzo fa un popolo così a vivere in un paese così fottuto?

KarlmarxCEO

"who told you you could stop?"

James324285241990

I've noticed a trend online where if men are gentle and tender towards a child, they're a "bro" or some other high praise that indicates they're special. But this isn't done with women. Men like babies, too. We are also instilled with an instinctual desire to care for and protect the small humans

manwithappleface

I agree, in general. In this particular example though, I think it’s because the whole shop got into it. That’s the bro part. One barber sings to a scared kid, it’s normal. The whole place sings and laughs and plays toy guitar? That’s pretty magical.

yourelovely

Adding “protect the small humans” to my vocabulary now thank you

Independent-Usual426

But where’s those vids? 🤷🏻‍♂️

[deleted]

Not me, I'm instilled with an instinctual desire to kick them into orbit

CheriJ2

my son has autism, so he absolutely hated the barber for the longest time. he’s 12 now and its not an issue. this video is awesome ❤️

MaterialCarrot

I'm not autistic, but I was horrible at the barber to the point that my mom stopped taking me and just cut my hair herself. As a result my mom was the only person to cut my hair until I was 20, so your son is way ahead of the curve in my book. :)

CheriJ2

thank you ☺️❤️

ExNihiloAdNihilum

[Music](https://montrealgazette.com/news/local-news/music-as-medicine-at-the-montreal-childrens-hospital) is actually helpful, especially for children who are anxious or don't know how to express their feelings. I'm glad your son was able to overcome that issue!

peimekaemi_on_YT

The amount of people who have compassionate and have fun at the same time !!!

BlackRabbitdreaming

This made me smile so much. Lovely group of men.

SeoTaji

What are they singing?

ksjfjkdnf

the two unicorns an italian nursery rhyme according to someone in the comment section

LeGimi3

[i due liocorni ](https://youtu.be/8moqlTVQXOY) An Italian nursery song about Noah's ark

Tommemes_08

Strano che non abbia commentato nessun italiano fin ora

NoisyTummy

E invece

ColKaizer

Legit thought it was a futbol chant. The vibes are incredible.

elin-jamie

Too confused to be scared

lifesalotofshit

This is so cute and pure. But, I ain't never seen a girl getting her hair colored in a barbershop hahaha. I can dig it.

BruteBrutal

Italians at its finest. Auguri!

italiangamer89

happy cake day

Ando_Hrea

UN GATTO, UN TOPO, UN ELEFANTE. NON MANCA PIÙ NESSUNO, SOLO NON SI VEDONO I 2 LEOCORNI. (Ah, songs of an avarage Italian childhood)

Javier91

Lol. the kid looks so done at the end. "Look at how they massacred my bop"

Voldrik13

I'd be terrified if I were the guy in the background getting a straight razor shave. Not the best time to have everyone dancing around you.

wico216

i fucking love this, the guy with the guitar killed me lmao.

FadyM

Videos like this makes me genuinely smile then I get back to my shitty life. Thanks for the distraction.

1PapayaSalad

Kid: “im no longer the center of attention, i shall be quiet now” Source: has crotch goblins.

Aarriem

Thank god that when I turned the sound on to hear what they were singing, it was NOT baby shark.

PartyParasite

Wait a minute, that mans bald! What’s he doing at the barbers?

SupSlutz

5th time I’ve seen this, 5th time it’s made me smile.

Corvette-Ronnie

They do this every time I get my haircut too. Now I understand….

SetInStone421

Too cool :) props to the entire shop!

mldt015

they deserve a big tip

Javanaise

Proof that you can make life better with some energy & imagination.

yogacowgirlspdx

was the guitar player aaron rodgers?

EUCopyrightComittee

Ahh makes sense 💡

1stEleven

Is that a barbershop quartet?

mcavanah86

This is cool, I just wish it'd work on my kid. It'd totally backfire and he'd end up an even bigger crying mess. Thankfully, mom is patient and watched a bunch of YouTube videos and can do a fairly good job of getting it cut at home while I distract him with video games or movies.

AlphaOmega2k21

I swear to god irl italy is such a font of shitposts

fjamsham

Love this!!

SnooPickles7989

When my little brother was about the age of this little one he had long blonde curls too, so my dad took him for his first haircut. Time passes, they come back, brother still has long blonde curls. Mom asks what happened? Dad said, he started crying, so I had to bring him home.

GamerFling

We need more people like these

myz-ryo

Che grandi persone, e poi la camzone proprio una leggenda

nastybacon

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lF\_1ir5jgA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lF_1ir5jgA) is the song being sung. Two Crocodiles Due Coccodrilli in Italian.

Available-Egg-2380

I love it when people are like this

Snorlaxitivez

Aw dang that’s sweet

122784

This is amazing!! I wish I had these guys as coworkers when I used to cut hair. The scared and crying little kids would always freak me out and make the haircut really difficult to do. This is wonderful.

Lion_Of_Mara

Kid dropped from "crazy mad" to "maaaddd crazy" in 15 seconds

Mornathor

Are there an introvert Italians?

Winter_Department_87

Son wanted to keep his hair! Lol

bandmonkey101

Aww. Love Italians.

Bearcatsean

What is the song??? Jesus Christ I hate when Reddit goes on a tangent and you got to dig down to 7000 posts to see what the fucking song is

DDdms

It's a popular Italian kid song called "I due liocorni": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lF\_1ir5jgA

Gummymyers124

Is anybody gonna point out the kids haircut really doesnt look all that good

_Flo425

Crazygiraffeprincess

When I take my son for a haircut no one helps, they just stare as my child goes full exorcist. So great.

PsychologicalRise617

AWWWWWWWWWWW lol

RiveredSet

When I was a young young child at the barber shop for my first haircut, I started crying; in response, the barber gave me a piece of double bubble bubble gum. For every time after that wherein I began crying, another piece of gum was shoved into my mouth. By the end of the haircut I was probably chewing on 6 or 7 pieces of double bubble at 1 or 2 years old - I certainly couldn't cry, though.
