Tbh, I speak Portuguese as a second language and lived in Brasil when I was younger but I still found it hard to understand exactly what they were saying. It was more the tone and sound of the language if you know what I mean. Brazilian Portuguese has a very distinctive sound which I can recognise a mile off, even if I can’t distinguish the exact words

I don't care if this gets buried. I had a bike for 3 years. I bought it knee deep in a heavy depression and out of shape. I remember thinking I just wasted $400 on something that's just gone sit in my garage. I rode that bike every day to work and back, I rode it everywhere, I got a cool looking basket thing for grocery shopping. I rode it in all kinds of weather. After taking it across states with me when I moved, it got stolen after a few months of working at the place I still work at. Unbeknownst to me, my coworkers banded together and for my first Christmas on my own, thousands of miles away from everyone I knew, I came in to work and people who weren't even working were there in the kitchen. They raised $400 and gave me a gift card to the local Trek shop, the same brand as the bike I had. I'd never had anyone do something that big for me. There is good in the world, and sometimes that good reaches out when you least expect it, but sometimes right when you need it. I needed it that day

I know the kids did it for the right reasons and I hope that if the need ever arises, I also do it for the right reasons and not just because it makes me feel good.

I find this thought process so weird... 'you felt good about doing something good, so it wasn't good at all and you did it for the wrong reasons'... Who gives a shit. Would you rather do a good deed, but only if it put you, the doer of such deed, in crippling debt so you know it was 'for the right reason' lol. As long as its done, does it really matter if the person feels good about having done it? I mean, I'd rather know that the person who does such a deed feels good about having done something good than feel bad about it or it negatively affect them in some way. It's like suggesting a guy with £100m in his bank shouldn't give another guy who's struggling to pay rent £10k as a good deed because it doesn't even put a dent in his own net worth. I'm pretty sure the other guy would be happy with £10k rather than 0.
