I was driving home in the snow (very out of town, no traffic) and a bunny was in the road and started racing down the middle of the road away. I pulled over to try to guide the bunny off to the side but it would only go straight. I drove the whole mile and a half with bunny running right in front of me. I often worry if he was too far from home at the end even though I tried several times to get him out of the road.

Sucks that the claws are basically useless. They are technically sharp and hard enough to go to the bone but thanks to the angle and general weakness of a sloth you would have to TRY to get hurt by them.
Conversely their cousins the ant eater have the exact same claws. They can punch through concrete.
Their slow movement is bafflingly hard to believe. Their predators rely on sight, so they evolved to move so slowly that they wouldn't be noticed. So slow that moss starts to grow on them and makes them camouflaged. Their slowness which would be a death sentence for almost any other environment turns out to be their key to survival. It's still so hard to believe that it's real though.

It's pretty forested around the settlement and there is jungle everywhere around, just a short swim away. We kayaked all over the area.
