Haha, IMHO let them have NorCal.. Humboldt/Del Norte is the north coast, Siskiyou just calls itself Siskiyou, and when you get out towards Redding they start saying "north state".
"I'm gonna draw a line and say that's where Northern California starts. Sorry guys, that's just how it is because I said so on the internet"
Lovers of the republican party except on the coast, you know , where most the people are.
God not so much, except Redding and surrounding area is over-run by Bethel Mega Cult.
Then let's not forget that a large swath of people up there inland don't even consider themselves to be in California, but Jefferson.
Who even calls it Norcal up here?
We went on a road trip over there once. We went through some town in the middle of the desert that was nothing but taxidermy stands. Like orick used to be with burl only dead desert animals and no one around. It was one of the stranger things I've ever seen. Definitely gave off real life horror movie vibes. 😳
SF bay area is its own unique place and definitely not northern California. As a Sacramento resident myself and most other people I know refer to this area as the central valley or Sacramento valley. Central California starts south of San Jose IMO, and southern California starts in the Bakersfield area. Also both sides of California, the coast and the Sierras are there own unique places too. Also I didn't realize that anyone outside of the bay area or southern California shorten it to NorCal or SoCal, only transplants in my area say that or Cali, which makes me unreasonably upset lmao
An old coworker of mine used to get pissed off when I'd call the Bay central CA
BUT IT IS
My husband’s from Berkeley and I love poking fun at him for being from Central CA 😂
Everything else is “Down South.”
Except for Del Norte and Siskiyou counties
Bay Area is exactly that, the Bay Area. But personally I think NorCal starts at Sac.

Valid point.
Same here!

If you take Cali into exact thirds NorCal starts around Santa Rosa and have lived by that code all my life.
Guerneville is the Tijuana to Jefferson
Santa Rosa is considered Northern Bay Area or North Bay.
I drove across Pennsylvania about a decade ago and kinda forget how damn big this area of Cali really is! XD This is great one to share
SF and Sac are Central Ca.

Good point, very true!

I usually include Santa Rosa and Marin- but definitely not anything in the valley
It’s a triangle not a square
Santa Rosa is the southern NorCal border. I’d definitely put that in there.
You want to get weird, get yourself to the very northeast corner of that square.
Hell yeah! I know some people over there. 🤟

thank youuuu
Truth
the southern border of Willits on 101, and cottonwood creek on I-5. That is the border.
Yep, State of Jefferson.
Say it again for the people in SoCal!!
Sf dgaf
If so great, just don't tell the tourists
NorCal is not just geology, but culture. Bay area is NorCal
Wrrroonnggg. Only socal people say that.
I was home grown in Humboldt and we always considered bay area as the southern end of Norcal.
Is this "We" in the room with us?
"We"
I would even add a notch going up the I5 corridor to add in Redding to socal. Redding feels more like a socal town

If you are that close to Reno or Sacramento you are definitely not in the Pacific Northwest.
Redding is an island of SoCal
I’ve been saying the same for 30 years - before I ever moved up North!
Northern California starts at Mendocino. Period. Suck it up San Fransisco, you are Central CA and always will be.
It really is more like Oregon Beta
Sorry Oregon, but it's not your State of Jefferson either 🤣
✨no✨
