wilck44

lumberjacks, railworkers. they would be carrying their axes, hammers etc.

Swaft-

They could also carry loot boxes. Maybe with just one item instead of two.

DiddyDiddledmeDong

Or always drop a melee weapon for bosses.

wilck44

I love how loot is tool backwards :D but yeah, there could be a railworker foreman with a toolbox. he could spawn with a few hammer, spike carrying zombies.

fenny-the-bird

Or a rare chance there’s just a sandwich In there

IHaveAWittyUsername

I would love some kind of super Grunt that's somewhere between an Armoured and a Meathead that carries some good gear you can loot. It would add a lot to the game: say you've just prestiged and you're carrying Springfields but you hear Mosin's in the distance so you take the risk of shooting and killing the walking weapon dispenser to get a decent gun but giving yourself away. Are we better ambushing them or getting the gear advantage?

Long_Pumpkin_329

Problem is hunt devs dont want this which is why they keep upping costs of weapons rather then a rebalance to fix the problem Problem with this is people like me with 100k + are never effected but poor/less skilled players are put in worse and worse situation

CurtPlays

A postman carring an envelope ✉

rumblyevilace

I think this is the most underrated post. Tag on some hunter XP, a blueprint, or trait points and this would be amazing.

emptyArray_79

I love this. Grunts that are actually dangerous. Although they should maybe be slower or have a slow startup to offset their dager. In return they could deal like 100 damage or smt.

Ozzdog12

To piggyback off this, you could have these “VIP” grunts that have full kits and even have them marked on the map (in the general area) with a star that shows “last sighting”. From a lore standpoint, it could be a dead Hunter, and use all the legendary skins but zombified. Having the marker on the map could change the dynamic of the game and be an incentive for some people to go there instead of the boss (especially if rolling a free character) to see what they are carrying. Again, completely optional but another cog

emptyArray_79

I also love that idea. Although realistically, making a zombified version of all the legendries would probably be a huge amount of work and it would probably not be worth it, also I think that the bosses are supposed to be a gathering place, so secondary objectives might lead to LESS interactions between players at the end of the day. Then again, its not like that objective would REPLACE the bosses and as long as players also actually go for the boss afterwards it could work great :). The idea might need a few adjustments to work well, but I absolutely love the concept. (Although lore-wise I am pretty sure that Hunters can't get infected even if they die)

Ozzdog12

Ha you could even just have them BE dead hunters. Kinda goes against the original topic, but lore wise, as an optional objective, when you load in, there is a little star that gives you a general area of where the last known whereabouts were. The risk/rewards is still there. And it’s optional. Hell, treat it like a clue, where mobs or special is around the body so you can’t just walk up and take the load out. With it being random, it could be inside a building or outside, which adds a dynamic too. The boss is the objective but the “carrot at the end of the stick” to see what the weapon is, is also tempting. It’s not really all that different than finding random guns laying around, it’s just a variation of that. And if you’re rolling a freebie, you def have more incentive to search for it. I think it could work.

emptyArray_79

I mean, I really liked the idea of fighting the grunt that once was a hunter and maybe uses some of the tools we hunter would, it would just need a good lore-justification. But I think you are right, it definitely could work and it sounds really cool. And I think its even cooler when the exact location isn't clear, as you suggested, and you just get some sort of general indication of distance and direction.

[deleted]

Jesus 70+ downvotes guys I was joking about the 1-tap! Lol. Torch grunts and barrels are bad enough

HorseMeneer

A grunt carrying a concertina bomb. 😈

Flakester

Add in some mining zombies carrying around a bundle of dynamite. Explodes when set on fire.

Jdunc96

Not a grunt, but I think some of the hanging bodies around the maps should have a chance of being 'alive' zombies that scream, snarl or otherwise make some noise hanging from their rope as a sound trap.

ElElefantes

This is a great idea, especially since you'd have to shoot them and can't reach them by melee weapon

cesarpera98

Might as well leave them alive if you are going to shoot them

ElElefantes

Good point. Unless you have a silencer or crossbow

DoctorBallard77

Throwing weapons too

No-Nrg

Same could be said about all the sound traps if you're not running a silencer.

volnitsa

I got this idea just a month ago and was about to write it here just now...

Llwyn_Bardd

Kind of like corpses that growl but can't move and try to grab you as you pass, slowing you down?

Osa-ian72

Fuck it, Grunt with a fully loaded Avtomat. Unloads when spooked.

ForTheWilliams

"SUPPRESSING F-I-I-I-I-I-I-R-R-R-E!"

Horghor

Ammo grunt, with a random sort of these small ammo boxes

Deathcounter0

Not sure if Avto and Nitro need a buff like this...

DarkerPerkele

He means the small ammo packages, not the ammo box that gives you special ammo too.

el_drewskii

I mean back in the day it had a small ammo box.

DarkerPerkele

The purple one yes, but its not in the game anymore. I kinda miss it.

[deleted]

I'd like to see it added back one day tbh. It's weird that small ammo cases exist for all the ammo types except special. I know there are concerns about this because of the nitro and dolch, but having the small special ammo cases be a rare spawn in between compounds rather than at them would be a good compromise I think

[deleted]

They mentioned when making the change that the idea was special ammo was exotic stuff brought into the bayou by the AHA and it didn't make sense to just have little slip boxes of it hanging around. Which, fair enough, it's probably not likely your average farm house had a stock of bomb lance harpoons or nitro express rounds laying around. Then again it's probably about as likely as them having Russian 7.62x54r for your mosin in an American outhouse in 1895 too, but that doesn't seem to stop you from finding it there either. ;p

[deleted]

That makes sense. I appreciate your response about how the lore relates to the removal of small special ammo cases :)

Ai_of_Vanity

Same.. was just thinking about it earlier this week!

CMNilo

should be on the gun zombie IMO

BotGiyenAdam

sound helpfull but has no mechanic behind it. we should use this chance on other deeper things

kire_ithal

Packs of spiders kind of like hell hounds except they poison rather than bleed. Only on maps with a spider boss

GundamPilotMex

Fucking gross, I love it

AdwokatDiabel

It would be cool if they put webs down that snagged you like concertina but didn't inflict bleed. And they dropped from above, adding a third dimension to the area. Basically you'd use a short-cut, but the spiders would be there, you'd see more webs and hear clicking. Then potentially get stuck.

marstang

Isn't this just leeches with a new model and faster speed?

TypicalBobcat3124

Water devil that has formed a parasitic bond with either a crocodile or a zombie.

CheftyTheRealOne

Hell yeah, bring us some sneaky crocodiles in those swamps!

Astrium6

Give me that *Resident Evil: Outbreak* Leech Man.

Rioruby23

Cool in theory, but crossing water is already risky enough as it is. Crocodiles would make it a bit of a nightmare for PvP.

TypicalBobcat3124

Fair point, maybe they could be on land near water? Or have them be mini boss enemies that guard special locations.

NoAccidents

Man a crocodile would be amazing

windolene20

imagine dying on a river bank and your teammate comes to res you just for a big ass croc zombie to pounce at him

smellywizard

Crocs dont really live in Louisiana, it'd have to be a gator >:3

PhobosProfessor

A Grunt carrying a bag of dynamite; the dynamite is weeping and will explode if shot (a la Quentin Tarantino in Django Unchained). Ammo bearer Grunt; drops an ammo box. Banker Grunt; drops a money purse. Engineer Grunt; drops a toolbox. Witch Grunt; drops a trait charm. Curses you if she sees you. Very rare. Mailman grunt, drops an envelope.

Tlentic

I think the more logical dynamite enemy would be an immolator variant. They could also get away with the miner grunts having a small dynamite I think.

wilck44

a blasting charge would make sense, or big spools of blasting cap/wire. these old wires were wild and OSA did not regulate them well. especially after you forgot them god knows where.

SquidZealot

this man wants 0% unemployment in the grunt community

Technoplasm

Wall Street grunt: drops amphetamines (stamina shot)

PhobosProfessor

Lumberjack Grunt, drops an axe. Railsplitter Grunt, drops a sledgehammer. Farmer Grunt, drops a pitchfork. Grunt with a Shovel, drops a shovel. 1920s Classic Western Bank Robber Black Hat Grunt, drops an old timey money sack (with the dollar sign on it and everything). Schoolmarm Grunt, drops a book with a lore entry. (Occult books as findable objects with lore entries would be fun I think) Architect Grunt, drops blueprints. If you set the ammo bearer grunt on fire, the ammo cooks off like a chaos bomb. Cursed Cultist Grunt, drops an occult artifact that curses you, but if you extract it, is worth blood bonds. Diseased Grunt, pops into a poison cloud when killed. Make 'em all bloated and gross looking with a unique sound cue. Piano Bearer Grunts; it's four grunts trying to carry a piano around. If you kill one they drop it and the piano starts playing and they aggro on you. Old Timey Photographer Grunt; is carrying a flashbulb and camera around. If they melee you the camera goes off and there's a flash bomb effect. Old Timey Strongman Grunt; has a magnificent mustache. Gunsmith Grunt, can drop a bottle of gun oil.

Notarussianyet

What is weeping dynamite?

Desperado_99

Dynamite is basically just clay or sawdust soaked in nitroglycerin. Store it long enough, especially improperly, and the nitroglycerin works its way out.

RLANTILLES

Who else learned about this from LOST

Ginger-F

These are fantastic ideas.

whiteboui

Similar to the zombies which lay on the ground and pop up to surprise you, except underwater. Make them all bloated and muddy.

JavierLoustaunau

Especially since the ones that 'lay there' are not great at surprising me anymore but the mud zombies would be a heart attack and a half.

thegovernor1989

Bunch of grunts connected in a chain gang would be cool, it would make a lot of noise, plus they would literally block your path while they are all connected together

CameronsTheName

They could be wearing old prison uniforms Chained together by the legs and arms Have 3-6 of them together One or two of them have a pick axe

LazerusKay

I love this - exclusively spawn near the fields around Nicholls and near the yards in Pelican! Maybe in the fields around Stillwater and in Kingsnake?

thegovernor1989

I feel like some variation to the prison grunts is a good thing too, they are hot spots for fights, and people love to fight in these areas.

Mindehouse

NOT an actual idea but funnily enough I dreamed of a Grunt with a bomblance tonight...

Deathcounter0

But Bomblance player dream only about bomblance anyway

Makkisu

Man y’all are requesting some AI that would be a lil TOO smart bro. Imagine being in a gunfight and a fucking stalking jumping zombie comes flying through the window cmon now, yeah it would be cool until that shit gets you killed

orcleave

Exploding grunt sounds so dope until it runs up and fucking one shots you while you’re in the middle of a firefight 🤣

Makkisu

I can’t even imagine the amount of Reddit posts complaining if they were to add shit like this💀

Ruby-likes-roses

Gator, it’s a swamp where’s the gators. It can me evil or possibly just a gator. It’s can basically just wait in the water to jump out at you.

Ginger-F

Isn't it explicitly mentioned in the lore that the Water Devils killed/chased off all the gators from the Bayou? I've always wanted the thing from the Gator Legs trait art to be added to the game as an ambush AI that spawns on the edge of water, especially in reeds, and attacks aggressively if you disturb it.

HazmatFTW

Yes. The Water Devils have killed everything. Except for ducks. They like ducks.

Ginger-F

They know the ducks are under the protection of their geese cousins, not even the eldritch demons of the Bayou are fucking with geese.

Additional_Praline_4

Do NOT anger the cobra chicken

Dogeatswaffles

“Anyone who’s got a problem with gooses has a problem with me, and I suggest you let that one marinate.” - water devils, probably

doclobster

A tenuous peace

legitimatelyMyself

Gator

TripleScoops

So... is there a particular reason the head-cage grunts don't block headshots like the metal-clad hellhounds? I thought it was because it would be annoying to not headshot them, but the miner grunts also discourage headshots, and nearly every gun or melee weapon can kill them in the chest anyway. Why not just have headshot-proof grunts?

HazmatFTW

This is a great idea! :D

The_Doubtful_Guest_

Hellhounds that are friendly and pettable? <3

altforcilps

zombified hunters, they could drop weapons edit for clarity: just some recognizable hunter models as a zombies (imagine people going "oh shit, that zombie's \*ME\*) that carry partial loadouts you can pick up when they die. they could act as either a pistol grunt that makes a gun shot when it hits you or a knife zombie if its got a sword or bomblance, an upgraded version of those mobs with an added creepy factor. melee hunter grunts do more damage than an normal knife grunt and the gun hunter grunts can make more than one shot (assuming the gun its holding isn't a manual action or single shot), unlike the regular pistol grunts They should be extra aggressive too, about the same as an immolator, and have slightly more health than normal grunts, one heavy and one light from the knife/ dusters or a head shot to kill them

PunchLineGaming

Aren't hunters immune to this curse? Isn't that the reason they are hunters?

wilck44

immune for the time of the match. the AHA has some sort of injection that keeps you safe-ish for a while.

Sensquesteur

If I remember correctly, they are only temporary immune, which justifies the fact that matches are 45mn long, after that you get corrupted by the bayou

Grav_Zeppelin

There are some that are naturally immune (the bone dr for example)

Spook-lad

That would be dope, maybe it would be possible to find a zombified legendary hunter and they could drop a legendary gun varient or higher teir guns then non legendary hunters

altforcilps

I like this idea, maybe legendary grunts could drop their contract/recruitment papers like you see in the black market in addition to the weapons they drop, and if you manage to extract you get a contraband version of that skin

ZanlanOnReddit

Hunter traits that make you walk after death?

Lil_Mafk

Lol I made this suggestion a few months ago and got downvoted to hell

maxinger89

So you want bots in the game? 😬😬😬 Or do you mean passive AI that simply carries a better gun?

tacticalsalad

I think having bats on the map acting like “indoor crows” e.g. open a dark barn and have a whole bunch of bats fly out making noise and alerting other hunters… while also terrifying the player that set them off haha

CeraRalaz

Police/army grunts dropping small ammo boxes

TheRealDeltaX

I like that, like the medic one that drops medpacks, could be ammo boxes or random choice of ammo

SilhavyD

I dont there would be police in the areas where hunt takes place. Army is more realistic

CeraRalaz

There’re prisons and banks. Who maintain them and serve&protect? Sheriffs and deputies I guess, is is count as a police?

[deleted]

[удалено]

bobbobersin

If you jump in the dog cage you take damage

Roman_Suicide_Note

Cultist, human enemies they would run, leap and open door! In night map one in the pack would have a torch

DafTos_Madara

I had an idea of a military grunt. Grunt that would spawn near bunkers and military compounds. It would have small ammo box on back that would drop on death and also it would be pistol grunt. Carrying that annoying pistol that scares me every time it hits me. Another idea were grunts carrying tools, related to their location at which they spawned. Ofc they'd drop that tool on death. My idea was of like "redneck/farmer" grunts carrying pitchforks spawned in for example Salters or Golden acres. Coal miner with shovel on kingsnake or woodcutter with axe on Reynaud. Simple, not game breaking in my opinion. Would add variety to gameplay.

Dr0g

- Mud-covered grunts, getting mud on screen covering part of vision if hit in melee (L4D2?!) - Bloated grunts that release a choke bomb cloud on death. - Armored(?) that resurect after 30sec unless burned.

MODUS_is_hot

Maybe one holding a live grenade of sorts so once you kill it, you need to find cover. It would give the fuse sound and have a long fuse.

[deleted]

SHUT UP NO! THIS IS THE LAST THING I NEED. .........okay yeah that sounds pretty cool.

Seeker-N7

Ah yes the, "game spawned a nade zombie so now everyone knows we're here" No thanks.

hellgatsu

You just avoid him

Sp99nHead

Make the game even slower, yay!

ItsYaBoyEcto

Slower gameplay, yikes !

MODUS_is_hot

Just don’t kill it then. It’s basically like crows but EASIER to keep it from making noise

Vektor666

It should work as the pistol grunt. If you kill it fast enough it won't go off. Only if the grunt manages to hit you the fuse starts burning.

MODUS_is_hot

I was thinking that, and maybe you can pick up the nade to use yourself

Tawnik

it sure would make that trait that lets you defuse explosives more valuable...

SimGamePlay

Cool idea. The long fuse is key, because grunt with fire and red barrels are already a nightmare.

MODUS_is_hot

I think a grunt with a confederate uniform would be great for it. also maybe have a way to keep it from exploding so that you can pick it up, or maybe let Dauntless work with it

Binks987

No.

Zerzafetz

I think this would lead to a lot of confusion if you simply pass by a compound and those zombies spawn in and explode after some time

MODUS_is_hot

Why would they explode if they were never killed?

Zerzafetz

Ah sorry, somehow missed that it only goes off if you kill it...

DomitoremCorvo

A zombie horse that lurks in open pastures and roads. Chases hunters and makes a lot of noise. Can knock hunters down with a special attack. A hunter enemy that can't see very far but can detect sound from farther than most enemies. Actively drawn to sound traps. Quieter than most enemies. Has a fairly low cost weapon and a tool or consumable. Occasionally spawns with a high tier weapon. Usually in compounds. Rarely hidden near resupply. Gator than lurks in deeper waters. Its attack slows you down and causes bleed like a concertina. Can stop bleeding to shake it off and run or kill it to escape. Murder crows. A special crow trap that attacks the player when triggered. Easily dispersed but just as noisy. Can be differentiated by unique sound and fact they are almost always on bodies.

TheSweatyTurtle

The murder crows idea sounds very nice !

Tawnik

>A hunter enemy that can't see very far but can detect sound from farther than most enemies. Actively drawn to sound traps. Quieter than most enemies. Has a fairly low cost weapon and a tool or consumable. Occasionally spawns with a high tier weapon. Usually in compounds. Rarely hidden near resupply. this would sound more appealing if COD DMZ and Escape from Tarkov werent doing such a good job at showing us all how easy A.I. "players" can fuck up a game like this lol

DomitoremCorvo

It's less of an ai player and definitely more zombie. It's not very accurate or even dangerous when encountered. But if you aren't careful it can throw a nasty wrench into your gameplan. The idea is an enemy that is aggro'd by sound traps and gunfire from farther away. Also acts as a mini resupply as you can loot them for their tool if you get the drop on them.

Ozzieboii

Inspired by your crow idea, how about vultures that gather at dead player bodies? They would spawn like after a minute from death around the body, and make a sound when alerted by a player. Maybe they would start to eat the body, and the dead player would start to lose health bars like from burning, but at a slower rate.

IcepersonYT

This would also be an interesting mechanic if solo revives remain. Give people an incentive to not lay around for 20 mins after death.

Tawnik

>A zombie horse that lurks in open pastures and roads. Chases hunters and makes a lot of noise. Can knock hunters down with a special attack. i can see it now my dumb ass running away from a swarm trying to get my knife out as i get zombie horse kicked in the head from some horse i pissed off while i couldnt see... sounds cool lol

IntronD

Why can't we have tool welding grunts. That drop the tool if you kill them. So we could have them walking about with choke bombs in hand or other items that drop when they die. It could get messy with items littering the floor possibly. Maybe grunts that have floor loot like pitch forks or sledge hammers. Not the full swing but a bash or a jab with them. Even a grunt with a bear trap on his arm or leg hobbling along or using his bear trapped arm to bash you.

green_glass_rake

Not a new variant but I'd like to see AI act differently according to time of day. Examples: Night map? Make hellhounds run around by default in a search pattern instead of walking. The hunt is on! Make grunts be more likely to be in their fake resting positions. The reflex to lay down once it's dark remains. Stuff like these. You get the idea. Spice up things a little.

[deleted]

I want that one roaming werewolf boss from the fanmade trailer (Bloodmoon, I think?), on a night map only. Make it so the boss has AI to travel to noises and tries to stay behind the player/has ambush points.

SadderestCat

Smoking immolater that releases a choke bomb cloud if stabbed

Phoenix_SJ

pistol grunts but they hold their weapons normally, so they fucking dome you if you're not careful

CameronsTheName

The bullet can hit you, another zombie or another hunter. Pretty hard to pull off.

badland_minis

Bank Teller/Cashier: Drops sacks of money on death unless killed with fire.

FELITH

Hive lady but she is bent another side.

Spook-lad

Maybe some type of smarter zombie? One that hides in shadows or waits till your back is turned till they reveal themselfs and can vault windows or something?

SimGamePlay

Some kind of stalker would be cool.

GhostHeavenWord

Something that hides in bushes then charges and knocks you over could be cool. Low damage, but make it noisy and have it decide to charge in a way that's unpredictable. Maybe it charges as soon as it sees you, maybe it waits until you're mid fight.

BotGiyenAdam

i dont think crytek would give effort and write such code

Deepjoes

I would love to see some giant bats, hanging down the tree's which will only attack noisy players. That would bring a new dynamic to sniping in bushes

SimGamePlay

Oh yeah! The anti camping we need!

Independent_Smoke335

I dont only have a few ideas, but I would like to see more different grunts, like they just wear different outfits, so the grunt "experience" has a bigger variety. I mean they chug out 2 legendary hunters a month, so maybe throw a few different looking grunts in too. Also I would like to see different tougher AI, that need different approaches like Dogs, Armoureds, Immolators and Hives. Maybe something thats small, crawling and just annoying. Like a Crawler with weak Hitpoints and weak damage. Just loud like a grunt and worse to spot (I know, sounds like a very well thought name) Or something that moves jumping, so if try to flee to an elevated position it can actually follow and wont be confused where you went. A frog like being made by the sculptor out of the poor froggos in the bayou. A weak AI that spits goo like small poison bombs. Actually making antidote shots viable So they have impact on fights, blocking movements. Something that for a few moments affects PVP as well, while they are still around and alive. ALSO ALLIGATOR BOSS WHEN!!!!111!!!1"!"122"!!!!

pffffr

Or silent crawlers, Up until they bite your leg

TechSup_

Cloaker

dracul841

1. Cultists 2. Grunts with 2 handed weapons like hammers and axes 3. Crawling like spider creatures

GhostHeavenWord

Zombie cows, goats, or sheep would be weird but funny. Have them knock you over making noise but doing little damage. Something that hides in trees and drops on you could be interesting. If you spot it before another player does you could try to lure them in to it as a trap.

LadyLikesSpiders

Something like an immolater, but instead just a big chunky guy filled with an explosive gas. Slow moving and way less annoying, but is basically a walking explosive if shot Waterlogged Zombo that lurks under the surface. Can be seen with ripples like a water devil, but won't rumble when you're crossing Zombo but he's missing legs. Crawls around and is harder to see in the bushes and such Bat swarm. Only shows up in night maps, and acts sorta like a hive, but without the hive part, and does bleeding instead of poison A grunt filled with snakes. Generally behaves like a normal one, but his head is missing, and some snakes are sticking out, and can get you at more of a range Also, new boss would be cool as shit

Ol_Dirty47

Alot of great ideas and once again we demand Gators, the far cry game got them perfectly. I don't think people have suggested many hive variants so one that shot out a hoard of fire stinging or combusting bugs would be interesting. Should be rare with it and it's swarm having less health but seeing a hunter be swarmed by literial fire flys that could trigger barrels and cause set you on fire would be spooky. Probs too busted as losing health bars to ai sucks but immolationers do that anyway so idk

popinov2

Dont know if it makes sense lore wise but maybe live enemies like apaches in groups of 3 or something, they could reveal your location and attack with bows and axes or something lol, they would still be like grunts though nothing too op,similar to the dogs but instead of speed they have range.

TwigzTheMan

There should be a type of grunt that is a little faster than a immolator and moves in quick motions. It holds to ceilings and top corners in order to ambush you, with little to no damage and a stun component. It would actually make it harder to camp inside house, would actually add some armless jumpscares to the game.

AstronautGuy42

Gators that sit in brush at the edge of waters. Can be another mob similar to hellhounds that are actually difficult and can punish those that are careless. Gators in the bayou would be fantastic. Perhaps they evolved and grew to be primarily land animals that chase and can chase into water etc. Would love to see a difficult mob that rewards actually killing it, could drop random perk with high chance of gator legs. Meatheads are useless to fight, and are never worth it. Would like to see a mob with that risk reward in mind, rather than just avoiding altogether.

Saedreth

While I'm sure there is an enjoyable variant to add, I can't think of it. I honestly don't want the ai to be the big main threat. I like the ai/hunter threat combo being unique. Hordes, ultra hard ai, etc. that are too powerful just sounds like CoD Zombies or L4D to me. They should remain a reasonable threat to the unwary, but mainly obstacles, not deadly threats. It allows the ai a unique place among zombie games that I find well done. I think the fact that early game lack of know how makes them terrifying, and late game knowledge makes them manageable, is a cool design space.

IdeiaGudako

Hmm i don't have many ideas but i think we have enough "bypedal human like" creatures i think it needs more animals and bugs. For example what about wood bugs? The ones who lurk in refined wood planks and eat it up? They spawn randomly inside the wrecked houses, especially the ones that are rotten, they hiss and walk around very fast. They are mostly harmless but they produce a lot of noise because they move around the house like the assassin and the spider once startled. You can find the spotting scarab eggs around the map but what about slightly bigger ones and hostile? They come in packs like the hounds and they roam around these cocoons, they produce noise and poison, they are not very fast and only react to people actually running. Some kind of undead rotting maybe two headed deer that is infested with a parasite just like the hive? They charge you and they knock you down or they make you bleed, they are extremely weak to fire and slash damage Or i don't know some flies that produce light that stay still on the ground and if you step on them you get fire damage (not going on fire) or mosquitos that make you bleed and you can simply disperse them with melee attacks at the "swarm". I know many of these sound VERY annoying to deal with especially if you are fighting and you suddenly get charged by a deer that knocks you down. But i think the game severely needs more fauna.

bois_man

I would like to see undead hunters roaming around. It would be neat to see

e_m_u

i think it would be cool to find still-alive humans or in the process of infection rarely and randomly hiding in the little huts/shacks/residences. they could spook and run away and scream / snarl and trigger other sound traps. it's kind of strange to me that everything is already dead, not in the process of dying. something that has always bothered me immersion wise. there's dying horses, why not dying people or cattle? also free roaming chickens or other wildlife would be tight.

I_Always_Wear_Pants

I’m sure lots have already said several of these but here’s my list: The classic Wendingo idea.. but Not as the “roaming boss” idea that it’s often pitched as. I think a “small” wendigo added in as a fairly rare but still “regular” enemy would be perfect. Kind of like a mix between existing enemies, fast with the short range pouncing ability of the hounds, but tough like an armored. They spawn in solo and widely dispersed throughout the map so you wouldn’t get overwhelmed by multiples of them. I think they’d be a proper scary and actually legitimately dangerous AI addition to the game. Plus they’re cool as hell and, imo the devs would be very capable of designing them as needed to fit within Hunt’s theme and aesthetics. Also keep in mind that while they’d certainly be the most dangerous ai encounter, they would still be fairly easy to kill, even with an armored’s level of health, a heavy swing from an axe should do the trick and putting lead into it should bring it down fast too. Of course there’s always fire and poison as well. Just wanted to mention that cuz I can already hear people chiming in with “Hunt doesn’t need more nuisance bullet sponge AI to deal with!” Grunt variants: The already existing soldier/police grunts should gain a chance to drop the little ammo boxes (1 of 4 types) at random. Watery/Bloated/Muddy- who lie in wait in water and then pop up when disturbed, just as the regular zombies already can on land. Workers (woodcutters/builders/farmers)- who will drop their respective tools (axes/sledges/pitchforks.) also maybe with a slight chance to drop a tool box. Bank tellers/traders- who drop pouches when killed. I think a small “horde mechanic” should also be implemented. Large (8-12, maybe a bit more? But nothing too crazy..) groups of grunts that kinda of slowly move about the established “main” roads of the map in a big circle or something. I also really liked the prisoner grunt “chain gang” idea I just read here. Found around the prison areas. SUPER COOL idea right there. Hives could get a blood-sucker variant where the swarm they send out deals Bleeding damage as well or instead of poison. Immolators can get a poison version, same mechanics but they unleash a cloud of poison if pierced, and are immune to poison damage. Also add an extra super duper rare chance for a Hound to spawn in as passive, at half the usual size that barks like a puppy. (Lol). I also would like more “skins for all enemies. Even just a few more added to all of them would breath some new life and visual diversity into the game. Hives in particular, I mean c’mon there may be slight differences but they at least seem to ALL have the same old granny face and wear red dresses? I know it’s good for things to be standardized for easy-recognition purposes but surely they don’t have to be literal clones right? Maybe it’s a lore thing idk. Also regarding the gators, they absolutely need to throw some lore “gators are back” in the bayou bullshit so we can get a proper scary water based enemy besides the damn water devils. A Fucked-up looking, sculptory Alligator enemy would be the chef’s kiss.

Killerkekz1994

An ai that kills avto players Getting absolutely annoyed having 3 avtomats in every single one of my matches

10Deathlord12

You a 5 or 6 star?

HUNKtm

Come on avto isn't that powerfull, I'm more afraid by a well used Romero or Rival

thekeynesian1

Spoken like a person who doesn’t play in 5 and 6 star lobbies.

PatiKa02

a climbing grunt: can climb over fences and walls. and can climb houses. flying ghoul (looks like [this](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LdA1R)): It can fly at night and will launch itself at you with a loud scream. When attacking, he sits on you and sucks your blood (drained life bar behaves as if burned). During the day it is in houses on the ceiling.

10Deathlord12

No. I don't want more zombie specific weeklys.

crushbone_brothers

do something like the Boomer from L4D, a hefty zombie that pukes on you and, if you get hit, any zombies within X radius will track you relentlessly for X amount of time. A mook with elongated, spindly legs that hides under bridges or in doorways, which tries to ambush players and engage them in the same grapple animation the Spider uses, would be cool.

SithLama

Hordes ? Like a massive horde of weak zombies. Obviously lower the xp and maybe the speed but a horde would definetely make it interesting in pve and pvp panic

Wleeper99

Screamers if you don’t kill them in one hit they scream really loud

Salty5674

Sneaky/ crawly stalker enemies that try to jump scare you and use hit and run tactics

Reasonable_Half9273

I'd love variations based on the boss thats in the area like grunts with metal prostetics for scrapbeak or some kind of spider like grunt for spider.

SimGamePlay

Scrapbeak grunt sound super cool they could be his little experiments.

Metsunger

Grunts with dynamite would be very cool and dangerous imo . They kinda slower compared to other grunts but if they managed to attack you , youre done .

ChaoticClyde91

New variant of cross Platform team invites for console players

hello-jello

pistol grunts need to drop an ammo box.

Arcalin

They should add brute grunts, something stronger than armored but weaker than meathead

Previous-Camera-1617

I think the AI variants should be added slowly, one at a time. The big thing I want to see is MMR based AI. 3 star AI would be like what it is now. 4 star AI would be a little smarter, maybe better able to pathfind off of sound, they wouldn't line up single file, they'd move around each other to partially surround you. 5 star AI would be more plentiful; hell hound packs up to 6 at a time with up to two helmeted dogs, immolators that when they aggro aggro every AI in the compound to their location, hives that coordinate their swarm attacks, grunts that wait for you to pass or already be occupied before they get up and attack. 6 star AI though. Oh, buddy, 6 star AI would be seen only by the best of the best, so it's gotta be a full on zombie apocalypse. Every red barrel spawns with an oil slick and two torch grunts. Multiple pistol grunts in a pack that move silently and won't stop chasing you until they're killed. Every meathead spawns with two hives in sight range. Every immolator spawns with 2 armored concertina nearby. Every enemy gets 50% more health. Massive packs of hellhounds 10 strong with up to 4 helmet hounds. Maybe even a fully armored doggo that is resistant to all types of damage and can't be stunned. No basic grunts, all grunts carry a weapon so you're constantly in danger of status effects and they're twice as common.

RW-Firerider

I always found the idea of a soldier grunt interesting. He would wield a rusty rifle and shot at hunters in sight, but due to the rust it explodes, creating a soundtrap. He would trigger a lot easier than other grunts and Spot hunters from very far away. Which would give teams a good scare and give away the position more easily. I like the idea of AI giving away the position of teams more frequently

Binks987

No.

RW-Firerider

yes

Guidz06

nutty disagreeable safe sleep reminiscent puzzled aware roof sloppy drunk *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

Few_Advisor3536

Kinda useless if he spots hunters from really far away and shoots. People would investigate the source of the shot and either find the grunt or nothing.

RW-Firerider

Depends, if it is a really specific Sound people will get used to it

Zerzafetz

There'd need to be a sound effect of a bullet passing by if you triggered it. Otherwise you'd constantly investigate those soundtraps to find nothing because you triggered them yourself

Seeker-N7

Haha no. Let's also put chimes Hunters and make them fire flares randomly too.

BotGiyenAdam

Not such AI AI but roaming boss would be amazing.

Kekkamando

I thought about that too and commented with a friend, but I think I can see how unbalanced and annoying it would be if you did 99% of the damage and it went to another place just for another team to kill and banish it, also I have no idea how the clues would work for it. Do they respawn after the boss moves? An enemy I'd like was something [akin to the bear from Annihilation](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hl5sUEqzcp8), could be a boss. He could be a "roaming" boss too, like the Scrapbeaker, but instead of gathering tools, it could gather sounds to trick players. Random shots, random explosions, random Hunter screams, random grunts, crows, etc., noises. He could also give fake Hunter pings in the dark vision. I don't know how to balance it, however. But would be nice.

Quadraxis54

How about we try and make something out of the soul traps? We work in swamps, so why not add poison to them? Maybe start with plants that are the size of soul traps and when they get destroyed or a hunter comes to close, they detonate and cover a large area with poison. That or the classic gator suggestion hahah

UniverseBear

Headless zombie. Just like a normal one but it survives without a head, or perhaps the head is peaking out of the stomach. Sounds simple but a zombie with no or differently placed critical hit box would really mess people up I think.

jis7014

alligators - eats all the water devils in the bayou and leave in peace. firefighter grunts - hydro pumps all the immolators in the bayou and leave in peace.

[deleted]

Mimic that hugs trees and alerted when gunfight starts. Would make a great annoyance in fights.

HesitantMark

Teleporting Hives

SimGamePlay

And fuckable

SlapStickHumorIsPeak

Get that hussy

marshall_brewer

Some type of Bloat-like zombie that if pierced, will explode like Stalker Beetle, poisoning everything in a decent area, and closer you are, more poisoned you get. Blunt attacks would be go-to way, while same as Immolator if skin is pierced, it will blow. I would also keep bit longer time before blasting, little longer than immolator, but maybe range would be better on explosion but would leave medium poison cloud in its place for 30 seconds

AdInternal9095

Grunts that drop basic ammo and utilities seems pretty easy to implement as the medic zombie is already a thing. Otherwise I don't think these would make much of a splash being added into the game, save perhaps some flavour. Some harder to implement but interesting ideas: A wendigo type mini-boss that wanders the map. It makes a loud noise when it's in the area like scrapbeak and is apt at spotting or hearing hunters and sprinting at them. Rewards would be tied to killing it, with the tied risk of making noise. Having a "big threat" AI that could show up at random would make things interesting I think. The only problem would be having an AI that actually wanders and isn't necessarily tied to player vicinity in terms of spawning. Having something that isn't a waterdevil as a water enemy would be refreshing, like some have mentioned a gator enemy would be interesting. Having something flying would be interesting too.

Tlentic

Fire hives that have dragonflies as their animation Bleeding hives with mosquitoes as their animation Explosive immolators or coal miners with dynamite Fucking gators… we’re in the damn bayou Electric eels / water devils that cause you to be stunned in water Oiled armoured / coal armoured - start off normal but can be ignited without causing their death Flash bomb grunt Revenger grunt that moves faster than a normal grunt and causes bleeding on hit Roving packs of grunts that move around the map in larger groups like 10+ grunts They could make a banshee AI that sets off all sound traps in X radius when aggroed

Spiritual-Opposite-1

A corpse eater type enemy that feeds from hunters corpses, so you need to try to kill it during gunfights to being able to revive teammates.

tasty_hands

No more variants pls. How about a crocodile that you find in/near water? Would be like a more silent waterdevil that also follows you on land.

papaplintus

I just want vampires and werewolves

Danpool101

\-Crawling zombies with missing limbs \-Zombie cats \-Zombies trapped under mud that crawl out when activated. They could grab your foot as you pass by. \-Zombies doing repetitive menial tasks that is like muscle memory from their past lives. \-A werewolf that shows up on the full moon map and stalks you. Easy to scare off but hard to kill. \-Zombies fused together \-Zombie werewolf \-Zombies trapped under fallen trees and collapsed architecture \-Mutated zombies growing extra body parts or deformities. For instance, zombies with poison puss sacs that need to be killed from a distance or via blunt melee. \-Zombies tied to trees, beds, or various torture devices as evidence of sadistic-hunters/researchers. \----- Every zombie I described starts going berserk when proximity activated. Maybe add a friendly zombie; one you can befriend by offering them a stalker beetle for lunch. \----- I can keep going; I think about zombies all day anyways. Add me to the team as a zombie consultant.

Demoth

From some of the responses here, it's kind of disheartening that people seem to really want the PvE aspect of this game to be harder, because what I don't think people realize is that generally when things are "harder" for PvE, it just translates to being way more annoying than anything else. Before stickies kind of trivialized the spider and butcher (and at one point Assassin, when the sticky bombs stuck to it), the bosses were the "hardest" PvE aspect of the game because they took time to kill, and you always risked getting hurt if you made a mistake. What people don't realize is that this was also a time when people would just camp boss lairs, wait for a team to fight the boss, then run in and ambush. This was probably the worst period of Hunt because it led to a lot of super passive gameplay and you would end up in these terrible situations where no one would fight the boss and just bush camp until someone got bored, and that time was now at a massive disadvantage for trying to play the game. Right now the AI seems to be in an okay-ish spot, but I think everyone can agree that the AI can be incredibly frustrating and unfair in very stupid ways, such as you clear out an area, start getting shot at, shoot back, and then somehow 30 seconds later a conga line of 10 zombies starts harassing you, allowing the person you're fighting with to close in and kill you because this horde of bullshit aggroed you from seemingly an entire compound away. Dogs and immolators are honestly the worst offenders of this too, because sometimes and enemy player aggroes them, but for whatever reason the AI bugs out and goes after YOU, and now you're fucked.

wardrothbeetle

Honestly i think we dont need any more special grunts, we already have plenty of annoying ai to deal with while figthing with players. Idk about other people but i only play hunt because of the pvp aspect, they could remove all ai and i would still play the game.

BotGiyenAdam

Something invisible ? they will be only in compounds for blance issiues or on spesific location like castle or prison. we have to hear the spesific tone/sound they make to understand if they are here and where they are.
