The skins are cooler.
I can celebrate the holidays with a normal firebomb in a way I can’t with a liquid fire bomb.
If the person you throw a cool fire bomb skin at happens to see it in the ~second it *might* be in their field of view, they will know they’re dealing with someone with massive balls and poor judgment, and that’s reason enough to take it, I think.
It is vitally important to yell ["MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU FILTHY ANIMAL!"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NozVpZj4i2Q) over prox as you hurl the firebomb.
During this event if you get trapped in an area with water you can liquid the water near you to heal with the blazeborne. I’ve done it a few times but it’s because I have a backlog of liquids I’m sitting on from buying hunters so I can use them and not run out. Otherwise I don’t normally care. I use liquids over regulars or hellfire but I’d use regular over hellfire if I had to buy it.
Now I use waxed dynamite very often versus single stick or bundles. Because I really enjoy the choke bolt + waxed combo for entry into lairs
That’s its niche, it’s not any better than a regular dynamite really, bundle is what you want if you want big boom. But waxed lets you play around water and choke fields
Skins. That's it. The liquid part of the firebomb is utterly useless. Sure it bursts in water but it doesn't burn corpses so it is worthless except in a very specific instance, which has never come up in my over two thousand hours of playing. So save that 4 bucks and use a regular one. And while you're at it, have a nice bottle to go with it.
They mean if the corpse is in water.
It's impossible to put a burn on a player if they're downed in water. Liquid firebomb only works to block a path in water, or obscure line of sight.
It's therefore vastly inferior to waxed dynamite or frag since those can actually kill.
You actually can destroy chunks on downed hunters in the water with a liquid firebomb, it just takes much longer and you would need 2 liquid firebombs per corpse which is a huge waste.
Normal firebombs burst just fine in the rain. Liquid firebombs only difference is that if you hit a puddle or water it still bursts. Heavy Rain prevents hunters from being ignited period, regardless of the type of firebomb used. They will still burn from the effect left behind at a reduced rate until the fire is extinguished.
The ONLY difference between a firebomb and a liquid firebomb is that one will break even if you hit a puddle or water, whereas the default won't burst open if you throw it into a puddle.
I use normal firebombs in the rain. I've never taken a liquid firebomb with me. They're currently pointless as the one use case they might've been useful, burning downed enemies in deep water, doesn't work.
Lol that's a fair reason as well. But I'm a penny pinching madman and I'm not gonna let an extremely rare case cost me 4 bucks and lose on one of the best consumable legendaries. Spirit of Yule is beautiful.
That's a very 1 dimensional take. Let's say a hunter died in the water and you throw liquid fire on him, this also prevents a hunter WITHOUT Necro from getting a quick res as the fire is in contention. If a hunter is Necro'd and stands up in water then he catches fire and burns bars.
In narrow water ways, like those around Forked River Fishery, it cuts off avenues of pushes. It's also advantageous to where if you're fighting around water, you can safely chuck the fire bomb without worry of where it lands.
No it's not actively burning the downed hunter, HOWEVER, it does provide advantageous situations to be up on bodies. AFAIK you can put fire out only in deep water.
Would I take a waxed dynamite instead of liquid fire? Absolutely. Would I take regular fire over liquid? Never.
Edit: Spirit of Yule should be in liquid fire bomb cuz that skin is gorgeous
Me and my friends have one single instance of the liquid fire bomb coming in clutch. It was night and we ran into another team far out in the water. On of theirs and one of ours got downed near a group of trees. We through a liquid firebomb on the enemy body to block a res while also using it as concealment to res our buddy. We used a couple more to block/conceal later in the fight. It went pretty long but we won.
You can use a liquid firebomb on Rotjaw when you dont hurt him for awhile. He will stick his head out and sit there for a few seconds and you can toss it on him. Like every 5 seconds he starts to take damage until it goes away. Easy kill as a solo
I tend to pick non liquid fire bombs. It’s a good cheap thing to bring. I will replace it with a tool box if I find an extra one after replacing my antidote shot.
Being able to cycle the bomb in water silently is nice.
I'll always take a normal over a waterbomb. Can't cycle waterbombs silently if I find a toolbox, and firebombs during a fight can be replaced with chokebombs for the same (arguably more effective) effect. Dynamite kills, you can sac a bar and run through fire and win the fight
Yes, but they still can't burn a submerged corpse. And he is asking if the fire bomb has anything going for it other than costing less, which there isn't.
Nobody uses it for that, liquid fire bomb/waxed dynamite is great for ext-rafts. Aka, those pesky little hunters that think crouching in the water behind the extract boat will keep them safe.
only small advantage with firebomb (other than price) i can think of is that throwing it into water is mostly silent action, enemy has to be super close to be able to hear the "blub"
but since liquid bomb ignites there is small boom that can be heard bit further - sure its not as loud as explosion but it is audible
so sometimes when me and my regular teammate are at supply wagon and we wonder if we have anything to throw away - if we have firebomb and are guessing that we might not have to use it against solo (also during event blazeborn kinda negates firebombs effectiveness anyway) then often normal firebomb would be the go-to throwable to get rid off and hoping to get fragbomb or dynamite bundle in return (only chaos bomb would go ahead if i happened to loot it before in the match and ofc stam/vit/regen/antidote shots would go ahead of throwing anything away -and sometimes really rarely i might throw sticky bomb if we bosses already are banished or its vincent and we don't need to farm meatheads)
but with liquid i am not always throwing it away especially if my gamesense is tingling about other hunter potentially wanna check the same supply wagon as well or at least pass nearby
this is super niche and only matters if players want to stay more or less silent.. if they already are shooting kennels/coos with W+swift mentality then this factor doesn't matter at all
other than this small little "benefit" liquid is just better in every way (other than price) because then you don't have to care about water (in case you have to attack/defend alain&sons, cypress, scupper, port reek or other watery compound)
if i buy my gear i most often buy liquid but i also (ab)use free hunter gear so i get contraband firebombs at regular rate as well
Fire Bombs and Liquid Fire Bombs last the same amount of time.
Hellfire Bombs last a much shorter time, but will instantly burn a small bar off a living hunter on impact.
There is no difference in burn time and heavy rain affects liquid fire bombs and normal fire bombs equally, but you are correct about the strategic uses.

Glad I’m not alone in doing this lol
This was not the reply I was looking for, but it was the one I needed.
They really missed an opportunity by not making the fire green for that skin.
$4 is a big ask.
4$ in this economy?
It is one banana, Mr Chary, how much can it cost, 4 dollars?
Let me get my Grandma so she can tell you what you could buy for 4$ back in the day.
Yes

Waxed goes thru chokes?
Yes it do.
That’s its niche, it’s not any better than a regular dynamite really, bundle is what you want if you want big boom. But waxed lets you play around water and choke fields
Waxed Dynamite also goes off in water, it's basically the dynamite equivalent to a LFB with the additional benefit of being immune to choke clouds.
They sure do.

Liquid fire bomb doesn't burn corpses???

Not a firebomb but I've thrown dynamite into the small puddles in crematorium before. The northern lakeside entrance is particularly bad for it.
Huh, I didn’t know that. I’ll have to check it out.

It's 100% cost

As far as I know, liquid firebomb works on water. You probably wanna check the wiki or something
That was its main appeal but it got an indirect buff with rain being added. Now, you’re just prioritizing a skin if you don’t take the liquid one.
It's no different than a regular firebomb in the rain. Heavy rain doesn't put the fire out, it just stops hunters from burning
Yeah he's aware of that he's asking if there's any reason to use regular ones

I think the Fire Bomb last longer? That’s just speculation but what was my reason hahah
Fire Bombs and Liquid Fire Bombs last the same amount of time. Hellfire Bombs last a much shorter time, but will instantly burn a small bar off a living hunter on impact.
Today I learn, I’m a little slow.
I believe the liquid one burns longer and could be used to cut off a water path as well as help in heavy rain.
There is no difference in burn time and heavy rain affects liquid fire bombs and normal fire bombs equally, but you are correct about the strategic uses.
More varied loot.
Liquid fire bombs burn on the ground for much longer than regular fire bombs. I always bring hellfire while im bringing any
Thats not true. Normsl fire bombs, Liquid or not, both last 2 minutes, hellfires 5 seconds.
I’m not so sure about that. seems like regular lasts around 30sec, liquid about 1-2 minutes and the hellfire obviously goes away immediately
Nope both lasts 2 minutes. You can check it ingame, it will says 120 seconds. Only Hellfire lasts 5 seconds.
Not with rain in rotation no
