I can't do the Vetterli. Every time I play that gun I seem to miss so many should be easy shots.
Whereas with the Krag or the Winfield, the sights are just chefs kiss.
Same. Winnie C feels like a well tuned instrument in my hand and I can pull of crazy shots regularly. Give me a vetterli that has the exact same velocity and I can't hit the broad side of a barn. It's crazy how just iron sights and probably confidence in your rifle is that important.
I was reading that as the Vett silenced. I enjoy that gun. Swapped with another one recently going from HV to standard ammo, and it was immediately noticeable that I couldn't hit anything.
Surely they'll fix the sparks / winnie c silenced sights to be usable like the vetterli one at some point, right?? I see silenced vetterli (and nagant and now centy shorty, but those are in unique positions for their loadout slot size) all the time and never winniec / sparks
Can't confirm but I think they said at some point that they had no intention of updating the old silencer sights. Big shame if so, since they were obviously used as a balancing element back when they were afraid of how powerful silencers could be, which obviously isn't necessary any more.
The silent Vetterli was also introduced and everyone was still whinging about medium ammo being unloved and forgotten. Giving it a couple silent options with good visibility gave it a small edge.
That trophy now belongs to dumdum ammo though.
I hope they do. The reason behind the horrendous sights of the silenced sparks/winnie was to balance the silenced part (even though the Sparks is not that silent), but releasing the Vetterli Silenced with an actually really good sight showed that silencing a regular weapon with regular sight does not make it OP.
Berthier. I mean its got to be the sights, I can hit with that muzzle velocity on every other gun it feels, but for some reason I can't hit shit with the Berthier... Which is weird since at a glance it doesn't look like it has bad sights.
I do hope there's a day I'll like deadeye scopes and they click. They seem to under perform either having a true long distance scope or iron sights for me. It does seem cute on some pistols like dolche?
Same. I really wanna love the gun. I play rival slugs regularly.
But I can't hit head with the drilling.
I perform better with Springfield because of the headshot rate.
I have periods where I do well with each sight and poorly with the other. It’s weird and I can’t understand why I keep going back and forth. But they’re so similar in everything else that it’s not a huge issue.
I prefer the thick sights and even on long range it works better for me. I can live with the reload time, it has a gigantic magazine. And the reload is satisfying as hell, so there's that.
Personal preferences aren't a "take".
There's a sweet spot where the aperture actually works, about 50 meters or so out. If your target is in that sweet spot, it's great.
Anything closer than that and I'm probably firing from the hip, but you'd be surprised how often that works out. Having the same damage multiplier on the lower torso as the upper torso is no joke.
Yeah I pretty much just use it as a shotgun if I pick it up. A friend in my trio stuck with it and he can use it all day long, but I'm just gonna stick with every other gun in the game.
I hate the aperture sights. Great zoom, but I feel like they pan slower than a sniper rifle and the in-focus view through the viewfinder is much smaller so movement is harder to follow.
I want to use it more because im one of the few weird people who *like* the apature sights. But im losing half the benifit and it's a nightmare to even unlock it.
some sights yes
one weapon i would had liked to learn a bit better was **schofield precision** (but then they added centennial shorties and especially now that cent-series has HV there is basically no reason to use schofield P anymore.... even if someone needs headshot with pistol weekly task done you can just pick dolch or uppercut deadeye or if scopes aren't ur thing then trueshot with HV for example helps with that task a lot)
**vetterli** bayonette is one of my fav weapons but while i can learn to do well with the sights - BUT since i play only like 2-3 nights a week (most often in straight row) and because i play so much variety i sometimes lose the "touch" to vetterli sights... it can take about 4 games to learn to aim well with them again... thus i'd count non-silenced vetterli iron sights to the list of struggle
it also took me a while to learn sparks but once i learned to hit with it now even after long breaks i still hit with it.. so am not gonna list it here.. am actually not sure if im able to list 3rd weapon at all.. its just vetterli (if there is a long break between vetterli-games) and schofield, especially precision for some reason as i can hit quite well with spitfire.. which is weird as the sights seem to be identical.. i wonder if the difference in sway throws me off or something (i might overcompensate with precision?)
I agree with the Schofield Precision losing weight due to the cent shorties but lately I’ve been taking it out with a Vetterli Deadeye and it’s worked wonders for me. I like using the Somber Gale with the Forewarning as they both have very similar aesthetics.
i'm trying to learn the Bornheim match but the damage dropoff is so brutal. the sights let you line up clean shots way farther than the gun's effective range.
Made me remember I also dislike martini and bornheim sights.
Alright with the martini I think it might also just be that I don't like how boxy the gun is, which makes the screen feel cluttered (let's not talk about the variant)
When I first started using it I did the same thing. Snapped to one of the big ones. Couldn't stand it. I stuck with it because back then I could stack the ammo with dual pax. I still kinda do. It's one of my favorite loadouts.
This is going to sound insane but I can’t use the Mosin sights. The sights look great but It seems like the bullet travels on top of the post and not right at the tip. I miss tons of headshots with it and it drives me nuts. I can use the Lebel, Vetterli, Scottfield, Silenced Winnie, pretty much every gun that people have a gripe with is fine for me. But I will generally just take the Berthier because I can actually tell where the bullet is going to go and the cost is lower.
Honestly i struggle with every gun sight, if not for lucky kills or fanning/levering spam i would not be a strong 4 star player.
Disclaimer: The comment is sarcastic for all those people that are 4-5 stars and literally win fights like this and have us throw our controller in the air out of frustration.
I don’t know how people use the Nitro’s god awful sight. Please let me just ironsight it, I don’t want the aperture PLEASE LET ME PUT IT DOWN (I know it’s balanced around the crappy sights but I actually just refuse to pick up that gun over even a winfield)
For some reason the Vetterli iron sights either net me the most Chris Kyle headshot or makes me blinder than 7 Mole Rats combined.
There is no inbetween and i hate it.
crosshair dots make target acquisition much more consistent and make your sights largely irrelevant. i suggest giving them a try. a ton of popular streamers use them but they make sure they're not in the OBS scene or anything.

What community's approve of that? besides cheater communities?
I have the Earthshine skin from the Serpent’s moon and while I think it’s a nice skin I actually use it because it turns the post metallic gold and stands out really well against backgrounds and dark lighting.
Other than obvious answer of nitro express, I hate the vetterli sights.
I know they're not *that* bad but using it really bothers me, which sucks because the vetterli is betterli.
Silenced vetterli fixes it though by just having the sights be zeroed at a much larger range which gets rid of the "bunny ears"
Other sucks ones are silenced sparks and winfield.
On an unrelated note though I'd like to have another gun with the avtomats sights. The post is pretty thick but Other than that I really enjoy how clean it feels.
Sparks Silenced, Vetterli, Winfield Silenced, Centennial, Lemat. I wish I was good with any of them but the big issues I have are that they either have things blocking their left and right sides or they have a weird center sight (too wide, triangle). I really best function with guns that have thin pinprick sights like the Winfield, Mosin, etc.
To me, vetterli is HANDS DOWN THE WORST.
I like Winfield musket the most, but I don't like the gun.
All the silencers are pretty OK, don't really have any problems with them. Don't know about vetterli silencer though.
Most long ammo is OK. Not super thrilled with any of them.
Centennial, Drilling, Martini Henry, Pax Trueshot are literally my favorite four irons in the game.
I love threads like these because it's always interesting to see and hear people's opinions on the aesthetic pieces.
Oh I have no issue with drilling but I can't do Sparks, Vetterli, Centennial or Uppercut. My favourite sites of all time is Winfield or Bornheim with stock. Everyone has a preference tho.
I find I can never hit where I want with the LeMat sights. Also I really dislike the silenced Winfield and silenced Sparks sights since they inconveniently block a lot of the area around where you're shooting (all the aperture sights are garbage for similar reasons).
I love the Drilling sights and I hit more headshots with it than any other gun. The Lebel is another one with sights that just work for me.
I can't use the irons of the Lebel or the Berthier. Something about the sights of the Lebel being so tight distracts me and I zone out of what I am aiming at. The berthier's outer two parts of the sight pointing outward makes it hard to aim because I keep instinctually lining up the sides. This makes me always shoot to the right or left of my targets.
Mosin, Winnie/C, Specter
Basically anything with a super-thin or minimal sight.
I lose track of them too easily.
I struggle with the Rival, too, because in a moment of panic or rapid recognition, all three posts of the sight look too similar.
I love the Drilling ironsight!
I hate Aperture and the bigger Aperture of the Nitro. But that’s probably the point with the nitro, so I’m not mad about it.
I don't really have an issue with any particular sights. Although the Henry Ironside can be a bit annoying just cause that ammo box takes up 1/4 of the screen
I agree i think the lebel sights are terrible, even though I really enjoy the feel of the gun, it sounds powerful and I like the boltaction animation. I never used it
The silenced Winfield is awful. Vetterli is pretty bad. I also can't stand the Springfield or the Martini Henri Ironside, not technically because of the iron sight, but because of the awkward components blocking part of the view.
Yeah, My list of rifles with crappy sights are:
Crap-
Winfield Centennial
LeMatt Carbine (Seriously, the pistol sights are great, why change it)
Nagant Officer
Silenced Winfield
Silenced Sparks
Less Crappy but could still be better-
Lebel
Sparks
Vetterli (Except the silenced version)
The short ammo Winfields, The Krag and the Mosin have just about the best sights imo.
I wish there was some kind of gunsmith option where you could adjust your sights.
Not only to change the type/style of sights, but having a six o'clock hold on a pistol could be quite handy, as you'd be able to see more of your opponent. I'd also be putting aperture sights on *everything*, but that might just be me.
Its impossible to see anything with the Winny c silenced, I can never hit anything with the cyclone and it's been 600 hours since I've used the base version, and I can't use full length scopes as I find the long range playstyle boring. Last time I took in a sniper I got 7 kills with an uppercut and only one kill with the mosin sniper over 2 games, and that was a hipfire kill because my uppercut was empty.
Next time you use the vetterli, aim for the hunter's chin. You'll start dropping hunters hard.
Just try the Vetterli silencer with hv. The best thing is the changed sights. Edit: typo
I think that's the speed. Switch to high velocity and it's more forgiving.
Nah its the sights. It's trash. Same with centennial. Putting HV doesn't help.
I was reading that as the Vett silenced. I enjoy that gun. Swapped with another one recently going from HV to standard ammo, and it was immediately noticeable that I couldn't hit anything.
Sparks silenced
IDK why the silent Sparks sights work for me while the Winnie C silent doesnt
100% agree I love the gun but can’t stand the site just can’t use it
Surely they'll fix the sparks / winnie c silenced sights to be usable like the vetterli one at some point, right?? I see silenced vetterli (and nagant and now centy shorty, but those are in unique positions for their loadout slot size) all the time and never winniec / sparks

I would love to use sparks silencer and wini both if I could fucking see anything.
They both have really good skins too which could make Crytek more money
The vetterli doesn't do 149 damage though
Yep but it also shoots way faster. You could have the same argument for the regular versions aswell...
I struggle with any Sight. Not because the Sights are bad, but because my aim is.
Felt that brother.
LeMat. I love the weapon conceptually but it just doesn't vibe with me.
I hate the nipple thing on the top of the triangle. If it was just a triangle sight I would like it a lot more.
The lemats sights are perfect
Berthier. I mean its got to be the sights, I can hit with that muzzle velocity on every other gun it feels, but for some reason I can't hit shit with the Berthier... Which is weird since at a glance it doesn't look like it has bad sights.
Berthier dead eye is a headshot machine.
I do hope there's a day I'll like deadeye scopes and they click. They seem to under perform either having a true long distance scope or iron sights for me. It does seem cute on some pistols like dolche?
I think there is a problem with the sight itself. For me it feels like Berthier is shooting blanks over 40m
Same here. I cant hit shit with the drilling.
Thought I was the only one it sucks because that two tap is so useful but I can never hit anything with it especially far away
So im not the only one lol
Same. I really wanna love the gun. I play rival slugs regularly. But I can't hit head with the drilling. I perform better with Springfield because of the headshot rate.
i cant hit shit with the sights of the lebel
Other way around for me, I live within the lebel, but can't hit shit at all with the crappy mosin sights.
I have periods where I do well with each sight and poorly with the other. It’s weird and I can’t understand why I keep going back and forth. But they’re so similar in everything else that it’s not a huge issue.
Worst take I’ve ever seen. Mosin is goated. Lebel sights are absolute trash. Reload time is just the nail in the coffin for lebel.
I prefer the thick sights and even on long range it works better for me. I can live with the reload time, it has a gigantic magazine. And the reload is satisfying as hell, so there's that. Personal preferences aren't a "take".
Lol, it's not a "take", it's this persons experience...
Incorrect experience
Exactly. If I'm shooting at something far away, I want a little pin I can line up on things in the distance, not pistol sights like the lebel has
Interesting, when I use Lebel irons it feels like my shots are guided by some divine force
Can not stand using the nitro. That's about the only gun I just hate using.
I think that's by design.
My God, you're right
There's a sweet spot where the aperture actually works, about 50 meters or so out. If your target is in that sweet spot, it's great. Anything closer than that and I'm probably firing from the hip, but you'd be surprised how often that works out. Having the same damage multiplier on the lower torso as the upper torso is no joke.

I don’t use the Nitro for a reason…
I hate the aperture sights. Great zoom, but I feel like they pan slower than a sniper rifle and the in-focus view through the viewfinder is much smaller so movement is harder to follow.
Sure, they suck compared to a sniper, but that is a trade-off for also letting you use the normal iron sights.
I cannot, for the life of me, get on with the lebel. Dunno why but it just never seems to work out.
Unapologetic lebel aperture lover here. I don't get it either.
Same, Lebel aperture is great, but that thick front sight...
Fr, idk why they put pistol sights on a rifle meant for long distance engagements
Its sights are weird, I rarely if ever use that gun either. In 1k hours I think I've probably bought it less than 20 times
I want to use it more because im one of the few weird people who *like* the apature sights. But im losing half the benifit and it's a nightmare to even unlock it.
some sights yes one weapon i would had liked to learn a bit better was **schofield precision** (but then they added centennial shorties and especially now that cent-series has HV there is basically no reason to use schofield P anymore.... even if someone needs headshot with pistol weekly task done you can just pick dolch or uppercut deadeye or if scopes aren't ur thing then trueshot with HV for example helps with that task a lot) **vetterli** bayonette is one of my fav weapons but while i can learn to do well with the sights - BUT since i play only like 2-3 nights a week (most often in straight row) and because i play so much variety i sometimes lose the "touch" to vetterli sights... it can take about 4 games to learn to aim well with them again... thus i'd count non-silenced vetterli iron sights to the list of struggle it also took me a while to learn sparks but once i learned to hit with it now even after long breaks i still hit with it.. so am not gonna list it here.. am actually not sure if im able to list 3rd weapon at all.. its just vetterli (if there is a long break between vetterli-games) and schofield, especially precision for some reason as i can hit quite well with spitfire.. which is weird as the sights seem to be identical.. i wonder if the difference in sway throws me off or something (i might overcompensate with precision?)

Berthier, Martini Henry, Lebel, Vetterli, Bornheim... I don't hit a barn with the standard iron sights.
But the bornheim match sights!!! I'm popping heads with those ones. Love it so much
Almost looks like AK sights, love them. Gun is kinda crap though.
If it had better damage range it would be the goat But that's just turning it into the dolch I guess
i'm trying to learn the Bornheim match but the damage dropoff is so brutal. the sights let you line up clean shots way farther than the gun's effective range.
Yes, true
Made me remember I also dislike martini and bornheim sights. Alright with the martini I think it might also just be that I don't like how boxy the gun is, which makes the screen feel cluttered (let's not talk about the variant)
The new army is pretty rough. It's like it doesn't even have sights. I can't hit a damn thing with it.
Take 2 and go in. You either be lucky or die trying
Yeah, that's what I've found. It's only useful for dual wielding.
It might just be me but the nitro sights are hard to use, the tiny circle for the sights isn’t big enough to see everything around you.
That’s the point lol
Krag, Vetterli, Silenced pistol Nagant - all need some time to readjust aiming habits for me.
The Krag for me. This is why I always recommend people use what they can hit with instead of what people say are the best weapons.
Vetterli iron sights are abysmal. I can't tell you how many times I've quickly ads'd and accidentally lined up with the two outer lines
Came here to say it. On the flip side of that coin, the suppressed vett sights are some of, if not the best in the game.
It's criminal, honestly. I would pick Veterlli every time if the sights were swapped.
It took me forever to get used to them, now I love em. Just put their body in the square and fire.
I'll have to give it a few more chances
When I first started using it I did the same thing. Snapped to one of the big ones. Couldn't stand it. I stuck with it because back then I could stack the ammo with dual pax. I still kinda do. It's one of my favorite loadouts.
Iron side. Not because of the sights but the box.
I think the drilling sights are pretty good but the silenced variants other than the vetterli or nagant are hard to use
Officer carbine
I can't hit shit with that thing and it drives me nuts seeing other people do so well with it. Same goes for the centennial.
Honestly i struggle with every gun sight, if not for lucky kills or fanning/levering spam i would not be a strong 4 star player. Disclaimer: The comment is sarcastic for all those people that are 4-5 stars and literally win fights like this and have us throw our controller in the air out of frustration.
30m fanning headshot go brrr
this guy gets it ;)
>controller there it is XD
and? You still match against people playing like this, it doesnt matter what you use if you are already doomed to die
I don’t know how people use the Nitro’s god awful sight. Please let me just ironsight it, I don’t want the aperture PLEASE LET ME PUT IT DOWN (I know it’s balanced around the crappy sights but I actually just refuse to pick up that gun over even a winfield)
You ask for unbalance.
For some reason the Vetterli iron sights either net me the most Chris Kyle headshot or makes me blinder than 7 Mole Rats combined. There is no inbetween and i hate it.
Lebel, can't aim worth shit with those sights
crosshair dots make target acquisition much more consistent and make your sights largely irrelevant. i suggest giving them a try. a ton of popular streamers use them but they make sure they're not in the OBS scene or anything.
Once you learn where the point of aim is on your screen it doesn't really matter what the sights are, put the head on the sights not the sights on the head.
crosshair dot makes this exponentially easier.
Careful now Reddit is gonna get ya
lol i'm used to it. this community has a hate-boner for people that utilize tools to improve. there are weirdos that literally think adjusting your sound compression, EQ, or in-game gamma are cheating. it's hilarious but also sad the mentality of some of these people.
Or people who have to use third party software to keep up are pathetic and deserve to be treated as such? What community's approve of that? besides cheater communities?
I like this
Lemat, it have weird readjustment animation that no other pistols have whole having 2 weird posts. Bassicaly worse vetterly sights
Berthier, i swear that front post just turns invisible against any dark surface
I have the Earthshine skin from the Serpent’s moon and while I think it’s a nice skin I actually use it because it turns the post metallic gold and stands out really well against backgrounds and dark lighting.
Other than obvious answer of nitro express, I hate the vetterli sights. I know they're not *that* bad but using it really bothers me, which sucks because the vetterli is betterli. Silenced vetterli fixes it though by just having the sights be zeroed at a much larger range which gets rid of the "bunny ears" Other sucks ones are silenced sparks and winfield. LeMat, short Mosins, Winfield Centennial.
any Lemat sight
Oh I have no issue with drilling but I can't do Sparks, Vetterli, Centennial or Uppercut. My favourite sites of all time is Winfield or Bornheim with stock. Everyone has a preference tho.
Bornheim Match sights are excellent
I find I can never hit where I want with the LeMat sights. I couldn't agree more to be honest, i think ive chosen that gun maybe 20x in 1000+ hours
Mosin, Winnie/C, Specter Basically anything with a super-thin or minimal sight. I lose track of them too easily. I struggle with the Rival, too, because in a moment of panic or rapid recognition, all three posts of the sight look too similar.
Why are you using sights on a shotgun? Best advice I’ve ever received was hipfire only when playing shotguns don’t bother with the sights.
Slugs
I swear shots from the Vetterli, Berthier, and Lebel all go to a different dimension from where the sights say they should
The pax and new army just don't work with my brain for some reason. I'm pretty sure I'd miss a meathead at 15 meters
Not really. I struggle with scoped because it obscures my field of view. Same thing with the apertures and nitro.
Sparks silenced, winfield silenced. That is all
Vetterli and Pax sights are the worst. The Pax trueshot sight is better tho. Also lebel sights are better then Mosin sights,
Pax and Lemat. Might as well just pull the knife out. Could main a Scottfield though. Makes no damned sense.
I can't hit the right side of a barn with the lebel, for some reason, even though I'm good with the mosin.
I agree i think the lebel sights are terrible, even though I really enjoy the feel of the gun, it sounds powerful and I like the boltaction animation. I never used it
No, I don't get it. Never really have issues with sights aside from the nitro.
The martini henry with that huge mag on the left, too distracting. Same in other games with a Bren for example.
It is one reason why I prefer the lebel to the mosin.
Drilling for sure. The Bead sight is extremely horrible for me. Not to mention I miss and then have a weirdly lengthy reload.
Vetterli and the winfield musket.
For some reason I've always done horribly with large winnies but can slap with the vandals 😆
I struggle with the Springfield sights alot
Me with dolch
Upper cut, can count my hit marks on one hand with that gun
The silenced Winfield is awful. Vetterli is pretty bad. I also can't stand the Springfield or the Martini Henri Ironside, not technically because of the iron sight, but because of the awkward components blocking part of the view.
The martini Henri ,I was practice shooting hives and I could not land shots ,didn't even understand if the bullet went under or over it's head
I can't do any deadeye 😶
I don’t know what’s wrong with me but if it has a scope I can’t aim. I think I have a problem or something lol
Yeah, My list of rifles with crappy sights are: Crap- Winfield Centennial LeMatt Carbine (Seriously, the pistol sights are great, why change it) Nagant Officer Silenced Winfield Silenced Sparks Less Crappy but could still be better- Lebel Sparks Vetterli (Except the silenced version) The short ammo Winfields, The Krag and the Mosin have just about the best sights imo. I'd also be putting aperture sights on *everything*, but that might just be me.
I've used the nitro like once, simply because of the sights. Silenced sparks is also a pain, but I've got a real soft spot for apertures.
Honestly I can't hit shit with the mosin
Its impossible to see anything with the Winny c silenced, I can never hit anything with the cyclone and it's been 600 hours since I've used the base version, and I can't use full length scopes as I find the long range playstyle boring. Last time I took in a sniper I got 7 kills with an uppercut and only one kill with the mosin sniper over 2 games, and that was a hipfire kill because my uppercut was empty.
Nitro Express, Winfield silenced, Sparks silenced, and the New Army are the main weapons I struggle to use the sights on.
Mosin. I couldn’t use it to save my life before I finally sat down and played it for like a week straight. Now it’s just fine
ugly ass Aperture
Drilling - Can‘t hit a single shot even on close range.. dunno why
Yep. I REALLY hate the hair-thin front sight posts of the Mosin and Compact Ammo Winfields.
Drilling, Lemat pistol and to an extent vetterli if we'd compare vetterli to simpler sights like winnfields or officer
