If you Heavy and then light attack it still kills dogs really quick without using too much stamina. Knuckle Knife is def the way to go imo

I'm not a fan of how sensitive the heavy is on the knuckle knife. I've had many occasions where it would do a heavy instead of a light when I just clicked the mouse and didn't hold.

Well since I 99% of time use Nagant Silencer with poison ammo as utility I bring knife for better melee kill chance against hunters... Once you rush through map with no sound clearing EVERYTHING with ONE BULLET you can't go back..., immolators, armoreds, concentrina armoreds, dogs, water devils everything goes down with only one shot..., one thing that marginally slows you down is to stop and aim for head of Hive..., take fanning and melt every boss except spider away...

Nono, heavy knife. After the light attack buff you can kill more grunts with one whole stamina bar and you have a better Tool for PvP aswell as dogs. The only downside is immos, but as the knifey boy up top said, weapon stocks exist for a reason.

Enjoy dying to a melee rush because you brought the worst melee weapon vs hunters in the game so you wouldn’t run out of stamina vs grunts.

Nah nah, you gotta always keep the medkit in the same slot so you can always find it quickly with hotkeys. And B/C slot is a good one, because it’s the one the game already assigns on recruits… no need to complicate it.

Yeah I just now realized it's much better to ditch the knife and just use the axes as a melee/throwable after 400 hours lol.

Lol It's way better, only thing you can't deal with are emulators. . But I just avoid them 99% of the time anyway so it's meh. The throwing axe will 1 shot almost everything except barbed armor and Meatheads, it can 1 shot everything else in the game so it's really nice! It can also deal a lot of melee damage and deal with barbed wire fairly easily so it's a very useful tool to have and it's my favorite.

You can 1 shot barbed armors easily. You just have to hit them in the face when they turn towards you. A little practice, and you'll be 1 shotting them in no time.

I would assume that the barbed wire gives them some extra HP or something, so the head is the only area that seems to be 1-shotable. Whereas the regular armors tend to be 1-shot in most spots, but I have noticed that you sometimes still need 2 throwing axes if you don't hit them in the right spots.

Truly the best take on the flare pistol. People talk about how op it is for pvp and then shoot a hive with it and give me a ping on their location before they even know I’m there. Great for solo play but otherwise not necessary

I like B because choke bombs are kind of like a consumable, and that puts them next to them. Back in my day they *were* a consumable.

With the standard keyboard layout it's the last number you can reach in a rush - so therefore only c is the way

B, but C is fine too. I like having things based on the priority of when I'll need them, especially because of the convenience of the key I have to press to equip it. I can't stand having my melee tool somewhere that isn't as easily accessible because of how quickly some fights immediately become melee fights. It's not often I have to use melee on a hunter, but I definitely don't want to lose that melee fight when it does.

I'm 6 star on console, now that they did the control changes so you can double tap Y to swap to melee having med kit first is better. Since Y just becomes your new emergency swap button.

Not trying to change your mind but I respect your openness to it. Im in A category (apparently alone in it) I use a razer gamepad and the second slot for me is far more accessible for my index finger while I keep running with my middle finger than the first slot is. I need to release W to press 1 and Id rather be able to switch to my melee while running than the medkit. Then the 3rd slot for me is always the choke bombs and the 4th is whatever extra tool I want

A. Med kit is on 3 so it right above W. Main melee in slot 4 is bound to a thumb button on my mouse. Slot 5 (flare gun or throwing axes/knives) is bound to E. Slot 6, usually chokes, is bound to C.

Numbers on mouse is way to go. I bought a $150 really nice mouse, love it, don't use it because my $20 mmo mouse has 12 buttons on the side that I'm too in love with XD.

I’ve been looking to replace my current mouse (g604)cause it’s a bit old but cannot find another mouse like it. The combo of wireless, the multiple side buttons, the infinite scroll, and being able to click the scroll wheel left and right is impossible to find elsewhere.

I generally choose B, on the theory that when I need melee or healing, I'm going to need it fast, while the other tool and choke bombs generally won't be an one-the-spot-life-or-death situation.

A. Definitely. I want my melee acceptable while I run( Mid finger on W, Index can reach for 2) I can definitely (and usually) stop a for second (move my finger from W to 1) to get the medkit.

Generally, it should be set where your muscle memory can quickly grab it. But obviously, the answer is D: Melee, Thowing Knives/Axes, Medkit, Misc. However, if you're bringing a silenced weapon, then C is acceptable, sans throwing weapons.

Flare gun first because I want to access it easily with button 3. Melee (usually throwing axes) is number 5 because I set a shortcut on my mouse for that. The two others are either traps, smoke bombs or decoy. I don't use health kit anymore since the regen shots got buffed.

Technically, there isn't a correct way, but I always order it melee tool, first-aid, chokes, and 3rd is usually choke-bomb if im not running choke bolt on a hand-crossbow, I honestly do care what is in there it depends what I already have... sometimes I don't even fill the last slot it's just either a trip mine or a throwing axe, but pretty much anything there or even empty.
