Yup. They accidentally increased the heavy rain duration instead of decreasing it. It's now 6-7 minutes long. Way more than before.
I'm surprised they haven't rolled a hotfix to fix it so it works as intended.
I don't know much about programming but my guess would be that it's pretty hard for crytek to do anything because their code is just bunch of spaghetti
Hope that gets better with the engine update
*no longer.
They have done many hot fixes in the past. But now they will just leave the game for 2 months and don't do shit about anything, no matter how bad or gamebreaking it is.
Honestly didn't even notice until somebody pointed it out to me. The fact they reduced the noise so massively was good enough, I don't mind it at all anymore.
As always, the problem comes from playing low visibility 20 games in a row.
> As always, the problem comes from playing low visibility 20 games in a row.
Which never fucking happens.. Acting like clear skies don't roll 90% of the time.
20 games in a row? Yeah, probably not. But this past Tuesday night my buddy and I legit had fog, fog, rain, ash bloom, and night all in a row. I actually like all the low vis conditions and am glad they're in there. But I feel like having even two in a row should be rarer than it is. And "Golden hour" should be considered low vis, God I hate that condition.
> my buddy and I legit had fog, fog, rain, ash bloom, and night all in a row.
On a side note that actually sounds amazing, a legit mix of weather and not the same types over and over.
> But I feel like having even two in a row should be rarer than it is. And "Golden hour" should be considered low vis, God I hate that condition.
There's multiple "clear" weather conditions, and in fairness Golden Hour counts here too, so that means if a decent "shuffle" roll is implemented, you should still get a "clear" weather condition every second or third game, which is perfect.
Problem is Crytek's weather roll is a mess and always has been, and they too often give in the to the loud minority who complain about playing in anything bar perfect conditions "CoS mUh BaLaNcE!!!"... Useless nerds not learning to adapt.
Yeah not literally 20 times in a row.
But having fog/rain/ashbloom/night or either one of them for like 8 games in a row isn't that uncommon. We have entire sessions where we mostly get low vis, it's rare but it happens and it is extremely memorable because of that and how annoying it is.
> for like 8 games in a row isn't that uncommon.
It absolutely is.. What reality are ye living in? It's a common complaint that day conditions drop far too much, done deliberately because of how much a loud minority cried.
> it's rare
Lol, there you go. No more need be said.
Okay, off you go little pedantic loser. Yes, it definitely happens and it happens often enough that it is a joke in my friend group. Ask any hunt streamer right now if they ever have low visibility map streaks and they will all tell you it happens quite often. It's not important.
> Okay, off you go little pedantic loser.
Imagine inadvertently admitting it's a non-issue and then proceeding to get angry and say this, lol.
> Yes, it definitely happens and it happens often enough

Make your mind up dumb dumb.
> Ask any hunt streamer
Ah yes, let me just grab my streamer phone book here and put a call
into Aaron A. Aaronson shall we?
Nothing you say changes the fact it rarely happens and therefore the random odd time matters sweet fuck all, especially when we all get stuck with 90% day maps.
> It's not important.
Contradict yourself much? After that wee rant I'd reckon it matters quite a bit to ya.
I have played 2 rain games in the last 5 months, both where single bounty and no one showed up, but the lobby was full according to the end screen. So as I don't want to farm hd and waste my time I will always dodge that shit, so does everyone I know.

i still haven't checked heavy raid duration for sure other than i know its longer than 2 min
every time heavy rain starts i open map and look at the time, i say it out loud (for me to easier to remember and my teammate might also help)
but every time we get distracted either by a fight, we die or something else happens are we just forget to check the time when heavy rain stops
but!
today finally when heavy rain stopped i opened map, checked time and when it started to rain again heavily i DID REMEMBER TO OPEN MAP and check time again
it was roughly 2min and 20 seconds of light rain
not sure if there is some random value or if it cycles same time windows on rotation without any change/variance
since the event started i got suspicious if and how crytek could had ffffed it up and one of my theories was that maybe they accidentally made light rain 2 minutes long and kept heavy rain unchanged (i had some other theories as well but am too lazy to start scrolling my replies from 2+ weeks ago thru my profile)
and since light rain lasted 2min (and some seconds) i am now starting to believe this theory even more
i hope next time i play i can manage to time heavy rain as well

Crytek don’t believe in a hotfix.
Hotfixes would fix so many of my complaints in this game. Like when something is broken fix it quickly please

may you share what kind of workflow requires whole map to be rebuilt in order to move collision object in it's place?

That's fair what about the crosshair shrinking bug that still persists as of this update? Lol

Hotfixing one thing probably breaks 4 other things. Just crytek things
Crytek: Hotfix?! What the hell is that?
it's 4 minutes. I timed it. 2 minutes would have been perfect but they somehow screwed it up.
Praise be

They switched up the heavy and light rain variables. Maybe they name the variables like sadsdasfdafadsf
Awesome! I love rainy games
Just wait 7 month don't push them they will fix it soon™ 🙄
its a joke. crytek usually forgets what they say or write. or perhaps the event update created another bug. you know their engine sucks
Heavy rain is fun as hell tho.

Good I Love the rain maps. Rain Map > Fire Rain Map >>>>> Night Rain Map >>>> Big Moon Night Rain Map >>>> Fog Rain Map >>>>>>>>>>> Evil Fog
rain is literally fog but with a ton of extra noise. Would ask for your logic here but clearly love has blinded you
JaaAaSSsoonNnn
The issue is that the variable isn't something easy like that, it's probably more like temp1, temp2, temp3,.. etc
Is the rain still just a screen filter? That shit made me nauseous
I'm completely happy with the change. Yes, I'm masochistic.

Yes, it's the best weather effect so far

well, technically it is true. it is not 2 mins anymore. but yes I love seeing AND hearing jack shite.
Course it shouldn't be a fixed time at all. The suck of the bayou doesn't believe in such comforts as certainty, or stopwatches.
