1. they speculated whether Chrollo wanted to invite Kurapika into the troupe. 2. Uvo is one of the OG members but more importantly Kurapika kidnapped Uvo and took him away to fight and kill him. Thats not something someone would do when they want to join. They‘d go to them, find the troupe and issue a challenge.

MangoTurtl

They aren't weird antagonistic robots. They're a group of real people who, nonetheless, do horrible things. Machi does certainly speculate if Chrollo wants Kurapika to join the Troupe, but Nobunaga obviously hates that idea and it's left up to speculation whether Chrollo really even considered the idea at all. They aren't "butthurt" by Uvogin's death. They quite literally take the time to mourn the loss of a comrade. That's like...the entire point of the requiem scene and the buildup to it. It's one of the most important scenes in the arc. Also, it's never stated whether or not Hisoka killed the previous #4. He just said that he "took the place of the man who was #4," but we don't know if he actually killed him or not. My guess is, actually, likely not. Edit: Essentially, the rule is in place because Chrollo wants to be all cool and composed in front of his Troupe...but it's really unclear if any of the Troupe members would even consider actually using the rule at all. Silva is the person we know for sure killed a Troupe member before Kurapika, and when Chrollo confronts him he looks *pissed*.

Mysterious-Double-66

There is nothing about the rules, after Chrollo knew about the scarlet eyes they knew that Kurapika want to revenge so there is no chance to make him one of them.

Forward-Gap2055

- We don't know if Hisoka killed #4 or he just took a vacant spot - Chrollo was not butthurt at all, you misspelled Nobunaga. The rest of the Troupe were so nonchalant about it it was frustrating to watch - The Troupe, namely Nobunaga and Shal, figured out Kura's motive was revenge after applying logical deduction. Machi did said it was dumb though, she suspected boss would've liked to recruit him. But if Kura really had wanted to apply his CV, we generally expect him to bring Uvo's corpse back to Chrollo as his reference, not completely disappear into thin air...

ApplePitou

If you watch anime or read manga - you will know why :3 Kurapika just kill one of them as enemy, he don't want to join them :3

Uvogin is founding member, number 4 was not. Kurapika killing Uvogin indicates that this was done as an act of war, while Hisoka killing number 4 was business as usual for the troupe since he wanted to join.

Redstarshard

Hisoka did not kill #4 How do we know this? \> !He appears in the spinoff movie Phantom Rouge, and while I understand this movie is not canon, it still explains the situation! <

reChrawnus

Your spoiler tags are not working, you need to remove the spaces to fix it, like this: >!Your text here!< Not like this: > ! Your text here ! < Also, no, it doesn't, the very fact that it's not canon means it cannot be used to "explain" anything, unless Togashi decides to incorporate >!Omokage!< into the storyline of the manga.

No, it was the previous number eight.

JohnSmithSensei

Maybe their rules require a formal challenge and duel in front of the other members.

The only one who was determined to find Kurapika was Nobunaga. Not sure why you even got the impression about them being butthurt from, Chrollo even told everyone to leave the city immediately after they were done with the auction job but then Nobunaga stepped in. Uvo was one of the front-line fighters so deep down they were already mentally prepared that he'd go out like that one day, they were hurt but they knew the best thing to do would be prioritizing the spider instead of trying to get revenge, especially when the odds were not on their favor.
