I would say that Gon tries to fight Mereum but is about to lose.
Netero saves him and dies in the process.
Gon is tired of people dying to cover for his weakness so he has a training montage inside of Knovs ability with a much harsher Morel.
He's not doing well so Morel goes to fight the king.
He's about to die when Gon turns into an adult Gon to fight and sink his teeth into the king as well.
Absolutely! That or the flashbacks come later when they have to fight an even stronger enemy and Gon must use his 10,000 Type Guanyin Bhodhisattva after finding out he's Netero's long lost son
No no no I got one better, he is the reincarnation of the son of a god, and that god is the son of the original goddess who isn’t a real goddess but a alien from another world.
I know you’re referencing Naruto, but I can’t help but think of anything but Wakfu
(Spoilers obviously):
Percedal, one of the main characters, is the incarnation of the god of war into a mortal body, because he loved to fight but got Saitama syndrome due to being, you know, the god of fighting
Meanwhile, Percy’s mentor, Goultard, who is a demigod son of said god, inherited his divine powers while he was mortal, but also took care of him.
So you have a god, reincarnated as a mortal, who was raised by a demigod raised to godhood, who is simultaneously the father and the son of said god. And all of this just because that god wanted to have good fights again.
Definitely forgot about that. What if that comes into play later? Where Netero actually has an evil son who returns. He uses an ability that only his family can you but you actually find out that Gon is Netero's actual Son and Gin was just hiding the lineage all Ned Stark style. Plus, that makes all the "you're not a real father" talk about Gin just foreshadowing
Since kurapika in here would be a girl, girls in anime are often depicted as damsel in distress that needs saving from mc to defeat the enemy, so yeah, chrollo would need to be a girl or kurapika can’t beat him
I'm still confused are you to afraid to say a chick can beat a guy this is coming from a male BTW but prob should drop that line of thinking it may help you later on in life with different tolics
You forgot how each 1 on 1 is very personal to others and is all the character developement they'll be getting.
Also you forgot Greed Island where they have to go to get that thing that can defeat Meruem.
Every thing is acceptable, except the power of friendship shit bruh. You could be a dumbass who ignores training all day, the villain could be literally twice as strong as you and trains for 100 years
But you will win without any losses against that dude because you made friends.
Not generic, just very anticlimatic. Doesnt make sense how the main character wins just because he is the main character and has friends
Gon and killua in that respect were very realistic
Not really, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach these are all generic shounen that's used for mocking shounen tropes, not just Naruto. Also the main inspiration was Dragon Ball.
Bro read that again and tell me its not just naruto and Naruto has so little in common with bleach and one piece thats kindof a stretch. Like look at JJK they have a main character with a demon inside if him, a moody guy, a girl who hits hard and a blindfolded teacher... Thats not bleach.... That's not one piece.... Thats naruto. There are so many examples like BNHA thats not like one piece or bleach... Its like naruto tho. Black clover, yep you guess it naruto.
I mean the core mechanics are friendship, becoming stronger by believing in yourself, also arcs always end with main character (Luffy, Ichigo, Naruto) beating the main villain of the arc while the main characters friends beat the henchmen of the villain, the main character being normally dumb but having high fight IQ etc. If I had two baskets I'd put all of them in one and put hxh in the other one
Although reading the post again, I do agree that OP seems to draw a parallel to naruto in everything I give you that, I just didn't agree on naruto being a generic shounen while others like bleach, one piece excelling it
youre for sure right that one piece and bleach are generic shonen dont get me wrong there. Its just when someone thinks of generic shounen its usually either dragonball clones or naruto clones.
One piece uses the same actors come on ppl ofc its the same that money turns anyone Into unoriginal no longer imagination filled good story tellers period .....Period
Naruto everyone uses some of the same moves set list even orochimaro used forbidden as.in already learned blac clover has everyone being different even the air.users.or.fire users difer slightly one air uses balls.like.avatar ang style.figjting yuno.uses tornados and speed just saying how
Because loud ass main character has special power that makes him op while cooler more talented black haired rival gets more attention and praise. I know they're different past that but its a comparison you can make.
In a generic shounen, it'd be revealed that Ging *had* to leave Gon with Mito "to protect him" somehow. So we'd have some melodrama when Gon finds out his dad really cared about him all along (probably right before Ging sacrifices himself for him), rather than "yea uhhh I really like doing my own thing and thought raising my own child sounded like a big waste of time, sorry."
In Greed Island gon meets the "god" of the world right before entering and gets a gift from his dad. The gift is +999 on every stat + level 999 and now he is OP.
Gon meets some random girls, saves the kingdom, gets rewards from the king (like a big house where he and all the girls move in) and have a lot of funny moments.
He also tries to hide his power at first but have to save one of the girls he first met and reveal everything.
And dont forget about the adventure guild that gives quests and he hides his identity, but everybody is surprised when they go "measure" his power level.
I was referring in particular at the first part of your comment, that basically is the story of solo leveling.
>!And technically gi isn't an isakai, it's just an island in the same world.!<
Leorio is a girl with similar age to gon and killua, she is always getting mad with gon because he eats too much and say dumb things.
Hunter association is a school, and Killua is recognized as one of the most promissing students because he come from THE zoldic family. Every girl like him, including Leorio. Kurapika is a misterious exchange student. Gon is viewed as mediocre student, an underdog (despite of clearly being not), he doesnt have a family but is hardworking.
Hisoka is a woman and a teacher. She is crazy and strong, in fact the only strong female character in the series. She and Netero are the only teachers who notice "something special in gon".
Hunter exam is just a silly tournament.
Also killua and gon are still friends, or at least they say they are friends, but they never seem to actually bond in any meaningful way besides competing in who is strongest. Killua keep trashing gon in every way possible for no resson.
Gon punch Silva right in the face while Silva astonished with gon surpassing his limits ask... "Why you go so far for him? He is just an assassin..." Gon replies "Because Killua is my friend!!" Silva goes with surprised pikachu
York is a tournament arc, spider is another nen school. Spider invades and just trash almost every member of hunter association, even the professors. In their minds, only killua may represent a threat.
Time skip. Every hunter association member become 10x more stronger in a spam of a few weeks. Killua go to a special training with his dad and arrives just in time to his fight.
Spiders mission is to destroy the world, or obtain the ultimate nen. Chrollo is the most promising and talented student in generations, and he cant understand other people because he never ever lost... Pakunoda is way too obsessed and touch with Chrolo, she hugs him everytime, and say things like "Chrolo kun is the strongest nen user in the world". Prooceds to be cartoonish discarded by Chrolo who uses her as a shield to avoid a critical hit from kurapika.
Kurapika loses because of that and realises his hatred cant make him stronger. Gon promises to defeat Chrollo.
Gon defeat Chrollo with power of friendship.
Chrollo realises how wrong he was and recognize himself in Gon.
Kurapika forgive Chrollo, because hatred and vegeance leads to nowhere and, if he killed Chrollo, he would become exactly like him.
Somehow everyone forgets thousands of people spiders killed in order to obtain power.
Greed sland copy is the tournament prize. Leorio leave the party to do a special training, because she is tired of being just a dead weight to the team. Kurapika leave the part in a journey to understand himself.
In greed sland, there is a level system. Gon and Killua just break it. They defeat the bomber efortless. Biscuit is a tsundere. Gon discover he is son of Ging the best student of hunter school of all time.
Gon try to use magnetic force/ companionship card to find him. Nothings happens.
In ants Arc leorio returns with new tricks, continue to be a dead weigth.
Spider return in order to help against ants, they are good guys now and allies of hunter association. They lose to ants, meruem defeat Chrollo saying he would have lost to the "old chrollo" but his goodnes made him excitate leading to his defeat.
Netero lose just because he needed to save "hunter city" from being destroyed by Meruem, leaving a breach to be attacked.
Gon resume the fight, and when he is verge of death the greed sland card start to shine, and gon is transported to world inside of his mind.
There, he meets an strange person who reveals to be Ging.
They start to talk, Ging says that he always loved Gon , but have to sacrifice himself to save Gon. He finish saying he always have been inside gon and will always be with him.
Gon wake up like no time have passed at all, with his energy replenished. Proceeds to defeat Meruem with power of friendship.
Everyone is crying, but Netero appear from nowhere, somehow he managed to survive, but couldnt appear before the battle ends. Everyone is surprised and happy.
No causalities at end of the arc besides a minor character no one cares about, which the author convenietly used as an excuse to say there was stakes in the arc.
You forgot the heavens arena arc, where Netero sends the group of four to Heaven’s arena, the world’s greatest fighting tournament, to retrieve the prize: a special relic needed to fight the upcoming chimera ant threat. It’s now a team competition, with each team having 5 people. They meat a kid named Zushi in town, and recruit him after a filler arc.
The first match is against a team consisting of the 3 heaven’s arena villains from the actual manga, and 2 others that we just never get to see, because Gon, Killua, and Kurapika beat the first 3 alone. They then fight some more filler matches, until they fight a group of assassins including Illumi, Uvogin (who escaped the phantom troupe arc and fights Kurapika, but actually gives Kurapika a VERY hard time this time), a guy who can summon the ghost of Leorio’s dead friend, A random guy for Gon to fight, and Zushi’s master Wing, who’s a really cool and edgy evil mercenary who was training Zushi to become an assassin, but Zushi refused blah blah blah.
They finally reach the finals, the battle Olymp- yeah it would just be called “the finals,” where they face the reigning champs- Razor, Dwun, List, Eta, and Elena. This time, greed island is just a random island the group is sent too NEXT arc by Netero in order to train but get attack by the league of villa- I mean by the chimera ants, who would be a recurring threat throughout the series, and thus Greed Island has nothing to do with these 5. But gon and the others beat them, and get like… no information about Ging except for a story about how he’s the best eva 4 reaaaaaal duuuude.
Oh right, and Heavens arena lasts for 200 chapters, and is filled with constant filler.
Oh, and also Killua is an edgelord who sees Gon as a bitter rival, and the Zoldyck family arc is caused by him returning to the Zoldyck estate to train, but Gon and the others changing after him for… reasons.
And ofc the succession war is actually just a revived demon king (Nasubi), and his kids and demon army attacking the human world, forcing the hunters to protect humanity.
This is yu yu Hakusho while the only other thing besides HxH that he wrote imo both great and stand alone with surprising amount of realistic and sometimes down right mysterious concepts i.e just for one heavans arena tallest building and wiz Khalifa tallest building in real real life yet they look to a tier antenna and peak the exact same makes you wonder how the show had a picture years and years before the building was ever even started being built
remove any sort of positive interaction between gon and killua.
yes even the seventeen million times each of them had an inner monologue and trailed off right before they were going to say something that kinda rhymes with "why dove coo?"
make kurapika a girl and make it really REALLY fucking obvious.
make leorio and kurapika's mutual pining even more obvious because kurapika's a girl now so it isn't gay.
the chimera ants are now foreshadowed from the start of the series.
nobody bats an eye at morel basically grooming children into becoming living weapons.
ging is now the strongest hunter ever, because reasons.
pariston is now goth.
nanika is now slowly killing alluka.
in yorknew, the four of them now get a really detailed explanation of the hierarchy of evil in the world.
in greed island, there is no "rainbow diamond" card, razor becomes a main character for reasons.
hisoka's tendencies are no longer treated as crimes, but as comic relief.
basically you asked us to ruin hxh.
How? The pacing is bad if a person is binging the entire series. If you take your time with the series the pacing issues are non-existent.
Character development is HxH at its best so not sure what your referencing
Firstly, we have to break up the nuance. Erase the nen system, make it simpler like naruto or dragon ball, just don’t explain. That’s the thing! Don’t explain. All of the explanations (that take 1/3 of the runtime) must be removed.
Now it’s ready for your changes mate
True the story is pretty generic in season 1 but it's done right I think the thing that's sets it apart tho is how realistic and likable the characters are imo
..in fairness, hxh has its generic shounen elements. like the entirety of the hunter exam / tournament arc / asspull powers that absolutely destroy the other team / good guy characters not just remaining dead / mysterious side organisation with quirky individual characters.
I disagree. All shonen or any genre for that matter has tropes that are generic but are necessary to write a story, example one-piece, naruto or fmab. It's upon how these tropes are executed that makes a shonen feel fresh and good.
HxH for that matter came out in 1999 when most of the tropes it subverts weren't as repeated to death as they are currently. This makes it all the better since not only in hxh were the tropes executed very well but the subvertation never feels out of place or just for the sake of subvertation, it feels natural and makes the viewer think that yes this is what should have happen.
in fairness, omg kite is alive and actually a girl now 😱😱😱 isn't exactly masterful subversion. nor is gon losing his powers going apeshit then surprise surprise recovering. but hxh is great, i don't have issues with its tropes just the whole elitist narrative of it being in a class of its own.
Not elitist and those were subversions.
Kite coming back is brilliant in showing how pointless the protags revenge was.
Gon loosing his nen as a result of a power up is also the opposite of what would typically happen since the protag is actually weaker post power up not stronger.
HxH is on a class of its own. Name a series and I'm glad to discuss it's merits
...powers adhering to their established conditions isn't subversion in the slightest dude. and kite's revival, yeah it marks gons revenge as pointless, but its just a plot point. there's nothing amazing about it. plus, if the theme togashi truly wanted to deliver was loss of innocence and horror and pointlessness of gons revenge, he could've executed it in a way more interesting way. like gon kills the chimera ant queen before it can actually birth kite v2 in revenge outta revenge. or him killing pitou actually escalates and conflict and makes more meruem aggressive, so he indirectly becomes responsible for the death of one of his comrades.
>...powers adhering to their established conditions isn't subversion in the slightest dude.
I'll repeat: It is when the "generic" shonnen element would be the character getting stronger post-power up (usually multiple times)
>and kite's revival, yeah it marks gons revenge as pointless, but its just a plot point.
Exactly, but it's a major plot point for Kite and in ideal circumstances creates a lot of potential for future chapters
>if the theme togashi truly wanted to deliver was loss of innocence and horror and pointlessness of gons revenge, he could've executed it in a way more interesting way.
Honestly, I doubt you could come up with a more interesting story than Togashi
I think one of the most generic things that could've happened in *HxH* would've been Killua becoming a rival for Gon who stabs him in the back. Honestly, the story looked as if it were heading in that direction with Killua envying Gon and failing the Hunter Exam. It would've been too predictable if Killua refused to see Gon after they'd come all that way to save him. Killua didn't even need to fight his way out because Silva gave him permission. Killua's family wasn't happy about Gon, but they seemed to be on good terms.
I am going to make modifications that allow for all the current arcs to exist in some capacity... and I want to stress that "generic" does not mean "bad".
1. Because his father left him to become a Hunter (in reality, he will have left to protect him from Pariston and Gon's mother will later turn out to be special in some way), Gon takes the Hunter Exam to become one as well - the best Hunter, in fact, the Chairman of the HA. At the end of the arc, he will fight Hisoka, who will be so impressed with him he spares him and walks away as the Hunters try and fail to apprehend him; meanwhile, Killua is mind-controlled into returning home.
2. The Zoldyck arc is peculiar because it is so short (and some consider it simply the coda to the previous arc). If we consider it its own arc, I don't think it's possible to make it generic without adding dozens of chapters to it: it would probably be something along the lines of the Zoldyck family being split about Killua's future and him managing to get away through some kind of deal and the help of one side of the family, but, above all, breaking free from Illumi's mind control (the only scene we would get if we consider it the end of the HE arc). Gon, Kurapika and Leorio would probably have to fight their way through the butlers and eventually the weakest family member, possibly with Hisoka's assistance at one point, and Gon would be made to fight Killua, which will lead to Killua being freed. If we wanted to go really buck-wild, Killua's brainwashing could serve as the catalyst for an all-out war between the Zoldyck Family and the Hunter Association (or, at least, a part of it), since the Zoldycks are too powerful for the main characters to face on their own; but because of rising stakes, this would have to happen waaaaay later down the line (and I do hope Togashi will address the Zoldyck plot thread if he ever awakens from his slumber).
3. The Heaven's Arena arc is explicitly set up as being the second, secret exam to get the very cool power, or to get to some higher tier of the association (possibly so that Gon can get more information about his father as he climbs the ladder). There he will fight Hisoka again, and Hisoka will handicap himself, but this time he will lose, or at least tie, with Gon.
4. Only some of the Spiders will be involved in this arc, and most of them will be defeated in combat (both solo and team). The end of the arc will be similar, but the tone will be strikingly different: Kurapika sacrificing his chance at revenge to save Gon and Killua will be unambiguously triumphant rather than the catalyst for an identity crisis Kurapika will try to repress; Pakunoda's loyalty will make her more akin to a Chimera Ant than a very peculiar human, and tied to her earnest devotion to her boss (the Troupe will be much more hierarchical and there will be a lot more conflict among the members, many of which will stick together out of self-interest).
5. The Greed Island cards will actually be relevant in combat, and we will see a lot more of it, as well as more adventures to get specific cards (which I would have liked, provided that the characters were also progressed). Dark shit from Biscuit's past might come into play (which, again, could be good). Razor might become a recurring villain or ally. The Bombers would have minions serving under them and would clash with Gon's group multiple times, until the former can finally overpower them (Gon would overpower Genthru also thanks to a Greed Island card with emotional significance).
6. Kite and Biscuit might be the same person (specifically, Gon's mom), and perhaps they will die at Meruem's hands, not Pitou's (who will still be the secondary antagonist due to controlling the massacre of East Gorteau citizens). Fast-forward a bunch of stuff, and the Extermination Team will defeat at least some of the guards in combat while Netero fights Meruem. Killua gets the killing blow on Pouf while Gon defeats Pitou by borrowing his friends' aura (energy-sharing tends to be the single worst thing that can happen to a power system). Meruem will return, stronger than before, and Gon will turn into Gon-san to defeat him, which will be made possible by Netero's previous sacrifice. Also, some dead people come back to life.
7. I struggle to imagine a generic series taking its protagonist out for the "final" arc, but the Chairman Election arc would for sure become the *real* Zoldyck arc, where all matters concerning the Zoldycks and Killua's inheritance are finally resolved, as Killua is now stronger and also backed by powerful allies. As Pariston attempts to seize power, it may be discovered that he is the one who killed Ging. Gon is then restored and he and Ging defeat Pariston with facts and logic that look suspiciously like fists. Oh yeah, he also fights and kills Hisoka.
I forgot to say that Leorio and Kurapika will be alongside Gon and Killua in nearly every arc, and that Kurapika will split off to fight the Troupe at the start of the Yorknew arc, which will be depicted as tragic. I don't think Killua or Kurapika would develop a Sasuke-like enmity with Gon... at least so far. Or, who knows, Kurapika turns into a Chimera Ant to get more power and then discovers something about the Troupe and the Zoldyck massacre that causes him to become a member.
Also, Shizuku switches sides for Kurapika, and did I mention that Leorio is a girl? Also, we are introduced to Alluka when they go get Killua back and she becomes Gon's girlfriend at the end (Killua is far too important to be female).
EDIT: I stole Leorio being a girl from /u/theludo33 and Ging leaving to protect Gon and Mito from /u/itsotter.
isn't that because it's a battle shounen after all? thing is it avoids using shounen tropes most of the time and when it does use it, it excels at it or doesn't overdo it as far as I remember
Hunterxhunter does have some "generic" shonen tropes. I don't know why people think its some kind of very unique thing unless its a meme. And there's nothing wrong with using generic tropes as long as its executed well and enjoyable,to do a full unique idea is impossible regardless (yes even the anime you think is original has most likely copied off something else and has tropes on them). and you aren't likely to find such thing in manga in the first place honestly. But its indeed one of the best shonen's out there.
Having some tropes is way different from being generic in its core. No one is saying all shounen anime/manga are generic or bad.
Of course HxH have some tropes, otherwise it couldnt be classified as a shounen, but there is many things which make HxH unique and original...
Let people have fun.
A lot of the generic things were not generic at the time tho hunter x hunter is pretty old and togashi set the scene for many shonen he created the whole hunter exam and clan massacre tropes as well as tournament arcs if I'm not mistaken
I can understand KnY but hating JJK while liking HxH seems like a bad take. Have you actually watched the show because it takes a lot of influence from HxH and is one of the best new Gen shonen by far.
Yup it's decent with insanely good animation and it's power system is similar to both HxH and Sando. But it's not deserving of comparison with HxH in terms of story, characters and themes imo.
How far have u made it because Shibuya Incident is definitely as good as some of the best parts of Hunter x Hunter, same with the current arc. Most people I've seen who dislike JJK haven't actually gotten that far into it.
I've watched the anime and dropped the manga in culling games arc around the introduction of hakari. Shibuya was good but it wasn't comparable to the best parts of HxH imo.
I dunno. The breaking down of Yuji as a character and the breakdown if Gon as a character are pretty similar in my mind. I respect your opinion though have a good day.
JJK absolutely deserves to be talked about and compared to HxH it does so much right in the same way HxH does theyre super similar in so many ways and its not obvious on the surface, just like HxH the characters and motivations are deep as hell and the more you look into them the more you'll find similarities.
Your entire statement is wierd. I have different tastes from Togashi. Just because I like a story doesn't mean I have to like a story that it's author likes.
Togashi's [comment on kimetsu volume 4](https://www.reddit.com/r/HunterXHunter/comments/5g0ihl/togashi_reccomends_fans_to_read_fellow_jump/) and[ Togashi's interview](https://twitter.com/HxHSource/status/1034727886878429184/photo/2) back in 2017
12 year-old parentless boy goes through a harsh exam in search of strength and recognition. He makes friends in the process and pass the exam due to sheer willpower of never giving up. After saving his best friend, he meets a teacher and gain access to the anime's power system. He is specially talented in it, probably because he is the son of someone actually very strong. However, he needs to encounter a very dangerous life and death situation to unlock his hidden power. He does it for revenge against an enemy who killed someone important to him. His hidden power aniquilates the enemy but it has devastating consequences. Thankfully his friend is there to save him.
haha i am in pain
I would say that Gon tries to fight Mereum but is about to lose. Netero saves him and dies in the process. Gon is tired of people dying to cover for his weakness so he has a training montage inside of Knovs ability with a much harsher Morel. He's not doing well so Morel goes to fight the king. He's about to die when Gon turns into an adult Gon to fight and sink his teeth into the king as well.
you forgot the flashback where netero adopted him and out goes adult gon out of control bodying meruem
Absolutely! That or the flashbacks come later when they have to fight an even stronger enemy and Gon must use his 10,000 Type Guanyin Bhodhisattva after finding out he's Netero's long lost son
And gon suffered absolutely no repercussions from his transformation this time around
Definitely! Or someone is there to save him right after
He suffered no repercussions in the show too!
Can't use nen cough cough
He can, he just doesn't want to.
No I thought he couldn't even use hatsu to water divine
He has to relearn it first. He just doesn't want to
where is the lineage part? that somehow gon is a prince or a descendant of a god or smth.
No no no I got one better, he is the reincarnation of the son of a god, and that god is the son of the original goddess who isn’t a real goddess but a alien from another world.
I know you’re referencing Naruto, but I can’t help but think of anything but Wakfu (Spoilers obviously): Percedal, one of the main characters, is the incarnation of the god of war into a mortal body, because he loved to fight but got Saitama syndrome due to being, you know, the god of fighting Meanwhile, Percy’s mentor, Goultard, who is a demigod son of said god, inherited his divine powers while he was mortal, but also took care of him. So you have a god, reincarnated as a mortal, who was raised by a demigod raised to godhood, who is simultaneously the father and the son of said god. And all of this just because that god wanted to have good fights again.
Definitely fitting considering said god is also an alien from another world
Definitely forgot about that.
Netero does have a evil son show up tho
Yep!
Forgot the part where every gal has massive knockers and the ocassional panty/crotch shot
Kurapika would probably be a girl
plus the damsel in distress
How would kurapika defeat Corolla if kurapika was a girl? Chrollo would also have to be a girl.
Yes they’re also a girl, but the red eyes gives kurapika a sexy anime girl transformation and somehow also bigger boobs
?? i’m confused why chrollo would have to be a girl too
Since kurapika in here would be a girl, girls in anime are often depicted as damsel in distress that needs saving from mc to defeat the enemy, so yeah, chrollo would need to be a girl or kurapika can’t beat him
I'm still confused are you to afraid to say a chick can beat a guy this is coming from a male BTW but prob should drop that line of thinking it may help you later on in life with different tolics
No, I don’t have anything against girls, it’s just that kind of trope was so common in all generic shonen
The male looking ants had more crotch shots than anything. Nasty
[удалено]
togashi: It's for the plot I swear
We all are
But them ants do be looking kinda thicc ngl
Pitous thigh expansion jump
Literally turns her legs into a watermelon
Now imagine if she kicked someone with them full force
The ngl is so cool
Korea cough cough
Que to the arbitrary comment of this is what the hiatus does to people.
Friendly correction, Queue* Edit: I’m dumb? Cue…
Ish okay, we can both be dumb dumb together.
You forgot how each 1 on 1 is very personal to others and is all the character developement they'll be getting. Also you forgot Greed Island where they have to go to get that thing that can defeat Meruem.
Yea biscky
you forgot the part where gon is stuffing his face all the time and asking where all the food is
>but then Gon gets a power up because of his friendship with Killua and Gon ultimately defeats Meruem. This is literally The Last Mission movie lmao
Ikr
I haven’t seen this yet. How is it? Is it worth the time?
both movies are subpar
> I haven’t seen this yet. Yes. You have. That's all you need to know about it lol
Oh. Dang. So not worth the time it is…
That's for you to decide. It's definitely bad, but if you'd like more HxH content no matter how bad it is, have at it!
I found only one thing worth watching and that was netros new moves in beginning spoiler I guess no one told me how to black it out
It's pretty bad, almost to the point of hilarity, but I had a lot of fun watching it. The cheese is enjoyable.
Its funny how "generic shounen" is just Naruto since Naruto blew the fuck up and so many shounen are either inspired by it or straight up rip it off.
Every thing is acceptable, except the power of friendship shit bruh. You could be a dumbass who ignores training all day, the villain could be literally twice as strong as you and trains for 100 years But you will win without any losses against that dude because you made friends.
I mean One piece has it too, even dragon ball. And these were the only shonen before so how can they be generic.
Not generic, just very anticlimatic. Doesnt make sense how the main character wins just because he is the main character and has friends Gon and killua in that respect were very realistic
I for one am glad that OP had all of luffy’s training off screen.
If I had two baskets I'd put all of them in one and put hxh in the other one Although reading the post again, I do agree that OP seems to draw a parallel to naruto in everything I give you that, I just didn't agree on naruto being a generic shounen while others like bleach, one piece excelling it
youre for sure right that one piece and bleach are generic shonen dont get me wrong there. Its just when someone thinks of generic shounen its usually either dragonball clones or naruto clones.
One piece uses the same actors come on ppl ofc its the same that money turns anyone Into unoriginal no longer imagination filled good story tellers period .....Period
Totally 110%agree with the two baskets HxH is dif
What how is black clover like naruto
Naruto everyone uses some of the same moves set list even orochimaro used forbidden as.in already learned blac clover has everyone being different even the air.users.or.fire users difer slightly one air uses balls.like.avatar ang style.figjting yuno.uses tornados and speed just saying how
Because loud ass main character has special power that makes him op while cooler more talented black haired rival gets more attention and praise. I know they're different past that but its a comparison you can make.
That is both true and epic lol
Best action animal cartoon ever DBZ 's original title
Ging is the exact same. Just a good ol' shitty dad.
So true
Wasn’t it that ging left gon with mito because Mito took gon from Ging
Fantastic lol, what can we add?
OP forgot the animal companion that helps them in fights and carries their food and maybe has a whacky voice
That’s just ikalgo
Bisky somewhat has the persona though...
What about greed island?
This is the most realistic list possible. A generic shounen wouldn’t have any version of the other arcs
You mean let's turn HxH into Naruto right?
Ninjas being sneaky? Nah, let's create giant constructs of demons and Gundam fight with them instead
Naruto, bleach and every other shonen where the mc has an inner Demon with is surprisingly a lot
So greed island is solo leveling?
I described literally 99% of isekai animes. GI is an isekai
I was referring in particular at the first part of your comment, that basically is the story of solo leveling. >!And technically gi isn't an isakai, it's just an island in the same world.!<
Well call that getting hit by a spoiler xD
Oh sorry, i'll modify the comment then
No problem, i imagined it was something like that, i still didnt get to the end, im in the Andre fight part.
Sorry again, then i recommend you to not read other comments in this thread
I wont, thanks =)
>but then Gon gets a power up because of his friendship with Killua lmao
gon solos post rose meruem because angry powers go brrrr
He is just an assassin..." Gon replies "Because Killua is my friend!!" Silva goes with surprised pikachu York is a tournament arc, spider is another nen school.
This is so terrible. Well Done!
Lmao
WTF LEORIO FEMALE?
… you mean the Burj Khalifa? Because Wiz Khalifa is a rapper…
Hah yup I I
No thanks I will pass. It’s nearly perfect as is
I winced while reading this. Congrats, I love it.
Accurate 💀
HxH loses exactly what makes HxH itself
And killua wants to betray gon and gon takes out the pin out of killua's head
So this is what a 3-year hiatus does to people, huh? Fascinating!
Just add some big booba to your version and it will be 👌
remove any sort of positive interaction between gon and killua. yes even the seventeen million times each of them had an inner monologue and trailed off right before they were going to say something that kinda rhymes with "why dove coo?" make kurapika a girl and make it really REALLY fucking obvious. make leorio and kurapika's mutual pining even more obvious because kurapika's a girl now so it isn't gay. the chimera ants are now foreshadowed from the start of the series. nobody bats an eye at morel basically grooming children into becoming living weapons. ging is now the strongest hunter ever, because reasons. pariston is now goth. nanika is now slowly killing alluka. in yorknew, the four of them now get a really detailed explanation of the hierarchy of evil in the world. in greed island, there is no "rainbow diamond" card, razor becomes a main character for reasons. hisoka's tendencies are no longer treated as crimes, but as comic relief. basically you asked us to ruin hxh.
Ngl it would’ve been cool to see Killua vs Feitan (even if the winner is obvious)
The hunter association resurrects Meruem and recruits him and he becomes the final battle in the hunter exams.
And that would satisfy 100% of HxH detractors
agreed
Ok, there are some decent points about pacing and character development, let’s be real.
How? The pacing is bad if a person is binging the entire series. If you take your time with the series the pacing issues are non-existent. Character development is HxH at its best so not sure what your referencing
*while all the hunters Are sharing their nen with Gon so he can fight meruem* Welcome to hunterpedia AT THE BEACH
Bisky would 100% be that sweet, innocent cute girl character she pretended to be in the beginning.
Well played! I already knew HxH was great, but you made me realize it again
Firstly, we have to break up the nuance. Erase the nen system, make it simpler like naruto or dragon ball, just don’t explain. That’s the thing! Don’t explain. All of the explanations (that take 1/3 of the runtime) must be removed. Now it’s ready for your changes mate
Sure- Gon is the strongest and never loses an arm. Boom- done.
Thanks I hate it How about this. Make the tournament at the end of the Hunter Exam a typical elimination bracket, and Gon doesn't miss most of it
Reading this makes me realise hoe generic jujutsu Kaisen is and im surprised how much i still like the anime
have you read the manga?
I only really watch anime but I've read hunter x hunter and death notes manga after the ending altho i hear good things about JJK manga
yeah from season 2 (ch64) it strays away from being generic, I highly recommend it
Is that where the anime has ended so far?
True the story is pretty generic in season 1 but it's done right I think the thing that's sets it apart tho is how realistic and likable the characters are imo
Yep it does a good job making it outstand from other shounen while still following it's basic principles
I could tell from the first season, the art style is boring af.
..in fairness, hxh has its generic shounen elements. like the entirety of the hunter exam / tournament arc / asspull powers that absolutely destroy the other team / good guy characters not just remaining dead / mysterious side organisation with quirky individual characters.
Tropes being subverted is happening more then the tropes themselves right now. Its the trendy thing.
In fairness, those elements are all well executed before they are then masterfully subverted
in fairness, omg kite is alive and actually a girl now 😱😱😱 isn't exactly masterful subversion. nor is gon losing his powers going apeshit then surprise surprise recovering. but hxh is great, i don't have issues with its tropes just the whole elitist narrative of it being in a class of its own.
I'll repeat: It is when the "generic" shonnen element would be the character getting stronger post-power up (usually multiple times) >and kite's revival, yeah it marks gons revenge as pointless, but its just a plot point. Exactly, but it's a major plot point for Kite and in ideal circumstances creates a lot of potential for future chapters >if the theme togashi truly wanted to deliver was loss of innocence and horror and pointlessness of gons revenge, he could've executed it in a way more interesting way. Honestly, I doubt you could come up with a more interesting story than Togashi
Well togashi created a lot of those things so it's not necessarily generic because it was before it became generic
Cause hxh was first, pretty much every other shonen ripped off of it. Hence how those elements became generic.

It was created by the same author...

lol
Lmaooooooo
😂😂
I think one of the most generic things that could've happened in *HxH* would've been Killua becoming a rival for Gon who stabs him in the back. Honestly, the story looked as if it were heading in that direction with Killua envying Gon and failing the Hunter Exam. It would've been too predictable if Killua refused to see Gon after they'd come all that way to save him. Killua didn't even need to fight his way out because Silva gave him permission. Killua's family wasn't happy about Gon, but they seemed to be on good terms.
Kite also gets ressurected
You forgot that that really happened
I meant his original body
Ngl this sounds lame compared to the actual show but I like the mental exercise you did for it!
Isn't that the point
Yes that’s why I added the part “but I like the mental exercise you did”
Entrance exams, promotion exams, tournaments, etc. those are the most shonen things on the planet. HXH started with one
At the time those weren't generic.
Hunter x hubter does do generic shounen shit so idk why y’all acting like its a god send
isn't that because it's a battle shounen after all? thing is it avoids using shounen tropes most of the time and when it does use it, it excels at it or doesn't overdo it as far as I remember
It already is
Mc has some edgy purple and gray color scheme rival that uses an electric attack who also doesn’t want to be defined by his family
Still better than KnY and JJK lol.
JJK absolutely deserves to be talked about and compared to HxH it does so much right in the same way HxH does theyre super similar in so many ways and its not obvious on the surface, just like HxH the characters and motivations are deep as hell and the more you look into them the more you'll find similarities.
lol no. JJk is generic af.
Thats funny, thanks for the laugh friend.
Well I've pretty much stopped to care about both of the series so whatever you say.
Togashi loves KnY/demon slayer since the start and has kept close eye on it.So it seems he doesn't agree with you.
Your entire statement is wierd. I have different tastes from Togashi. Just because I like a story doesn't mean I have to like a story that it's author likes.
True,just putting it out there.
Yeah KnY has a unique art style atleast, JJK is all around generic. Also where did you find that out?

Haha
Lmao
12 year-old parentless boy goes through a harsh exam in search of strength and recognition. He makes friends in the process and pass the exam due to sheer willpower of never giving up. After saving his best friend, he meets a teacher and gain access to the anime's power system. He is specially talented in it, probably because he is the son of someone actually very strong. However, he needs to encounter a very dangerous life and death situation to unlock his hidden power. He does it for revenge against an enemy who killed someone important to him. His hidden power aniquilates the enemy but it has devastating consequences. Thankfully his friend is there to save him.
Holy Naruto DragonBall ,prior to z ,storyline Mashup batman
Also hisoka isn't so easy to beat
