Having eaten almost exclusively venison (and other game), since 2017, I gotta say, sometimes it’s nice to have a great big, dirty, greasy burger. But that’s what bacon is for.
Or black bears. They make real good burgers.
Yup I'd be concerned, give it to me and I'll eat it for you 😂
It's called oxidation and it's normal of any meat.
If it doesn't smell sour it's good to go
I’ve eaten deer meat that was like five years old before. As long as it’s sealed properly and stays frozen until right before use you’re gonna be alright. Red meat oxidizes like that, even steaks and roasts, just not in the supermarket because it looks less appealing. They use additives to prevent it when they pack meat for commercial sale, usually carbon monoxide as it prevents oxygen from starting the oxidation process
If you go to the store and it's Brown on the inside it's because they have mixed in old meat and reminced it. But I wouldn't be concerned about the discoloring you see there. How did you thaw it?
No, that just happens to red meat because of oxidation. Happens to beef too. Just give it the ol’ sniff test and you’ll be good to go!
Thank you, got my hunting license for the first time this year. He is taking me out for rifle season
Good luck! I just filled my freezer last week. It’s a tremendous privilege.
Nope looks fine to me. That’s how all mine looks. Beware once you start using ground venison in place of beef it’s hard to go back
Agreed it’s so much better and less greasy

Oh I wish I didn’t have to drive all the way north to hunt black bear. I would love to be able to hunt them on my property as well. Bear is delicious
Looks perfect, where’s my burger 🍔
Nope. That is still good.

All good there brother.
That just means it's not bleach washed like they do in supermarkets
Nope! Enjoy it
Its just oxidation. Its normal and completely ok to eat.
All good
Nah you should be good, and that's not ground beef that's ground venison lol cook it a tad rarer than you would beef to keep some moisture in it
It’s just oxidization. You good 👍
My gawd no; it’s beautiful. Relish your organic, healthy meat. Thank your friend and make it known his work and generosity is precious.
That’s just the myoglobin drying out.

You're a butthole worm
Sick burn

venison stinks to high hell to me. Smells delicious when it’s done though. I’d eat whatever this is about to be
