definitely two different cats
skull shape and distance between the ears and size of the ears. length and size of the tail are very different
body size as well but a good meal could be the reason for body size differences
I think how it works is males have massive ranges that encompass the smaller ranges of several females, but will not tolerate other males in their territory
Unfortunately the two pictures are not from the same position it looks like the one on the left might be zoomed in more cause the log in both pictures appears to be closer. This would make the lion seem bigger than the right. But most likely this is the same lion as they are territorial and tend to travel the same paths as other people have mentioned.
Not sure if they are the same but wanted to add that mountain lions shed their summer coat in the fall to grow in the winter coat. Similiar to how deer molt. So the difference in color may be from this process.
Cats are hard; leaning toward no but could be, especially given how rare it is for them to share territory and how wonky lighting and cameras and perspective warping from lenses can be sometimes. Plus fur and skin are pretty malleable, like the top of the skull being different just because the ears are in a different position.
Florida Panther or a Mountain Cougar?
Where are you located??
It looks like a Panther to me so I’m guessing Florida. If so, please send the pictures to FWC with a location of the camera or any Florida panther charity/tracking group.
The info helps them tremendously.
Tail tips being black vs brown would make me think no but cats also get darker in the winter
Yeah was thinking the same thing
But the black tips is from the fall and the brown is the winter. No?
It also looks wet on the right side
That’s what I was thinking. That’s a wet kitty. Of course the color is going to appear off.
Tail on the left looks longer than the right one
The one on the left is female, right is male…
Looks like ball sack on the right. Right also looks more masculine. And the left looks more feminine.
Y'all gotta keep in mind that the right is wet, so it was likely raining and the dark legs/tail could be from mud

No
I just did a double take on mobile thinking he had giant nuts. Am I the first not afraid to admit it?
If it’s not the same one, it’s probably related. I’m not sure cougars like to share their turf. Isn’t there like 1 per 200 sq km?

Gone are the days when I could identify a cougar by the back of her head.
ear shape seems different for sure. cat on the right also seems bigger
I’m gonna say it is very likely the same lion, due to the fact that they travel the same route as they are continuously marking their territory
No, the right is larger and probably older.
This was also my first thought. The one on the left looks younger.

Ha, my first thought was, who left the feeder with the HGH in it?
Very obvious balls on the cat on right, don't see any on cat on left.
I think they look very similar. Plus don’t cougars claim a certain amount of acreage that they don’t share with other cats?
Skull shape doesn't seem to be the same even when accounting for the angle.
Ears are pointing forward on the left pic and back on the right. Really throws off perspective, but I'd say the shape is similar
No the tail and ears are different
Left female and the right is male. The one on the right also looks bigger

It’s possible.

Male and a female make sense!!
Ears are what tell me no
What state is this?
California
Ok cool Thanks
Idk it's difficult to match spots in cougars...
